IPAD capacity question

I bought an IPAD2 with 32GB.  Why does the capacity show 29GB and not 32GB?

Perfectly normal behaviour. See article below.

9iR2 OLAP Reporting Server Capacity Question
We are running Oracle 9iR2 with OLAP.
    OS - RHEL3 AS
    SERVERS - Dell Poweredge 6600's
    cpu 4 x 2.4ghz
    24GB RAM
    1.5 TB space
Our AWs are typically 30GB in size. My question is, what is my capacity of jdbc thin client user sessions per box? I haven't been able to find much documentation on scalability with large AWs and a large user base. We will need to host reports for 6000 users moving to 16000 by next year.
We will be switching to 2x 1.6ghz 64bit opteron boxes this year sometime as well.

  • Will selecting 'Delete Account' in iCloud setting on iPad delete the AppleID account, or just delete it from the iPad in question?

Will selecting ‘Delete Account’ in iCloud settings on iPad delete the AppleID account entirely, or will it just delete the AppleID from the iPad in question?
I am trying to resolve a problem where someone tried to set up a second iPad on the same Apple ID account. I have partially solved the problem by creating a new Apple ID for the second iPad, but when I went to change the iCloud setting, my only option to change it was the 'Delete Account' button. I just want to make sure that I'm not going to accidentally delete the old Apple ID account because the fist iPad still needs to sync to that ID.

    From the iPhone only.

  • IPhone 5s Password and iPad App Question

    Hello,
I was interested in purchasing my first smartphone and was thinking of getting the iPhone 5s. But I have a few questions I would like to ask before making a decision. Can you run an application (from iTunes) that is for an iPad and run it on an iPhone if the IOS version requirement is high enough? I am hoping I can run the "MyTunesProHD" App which requires IOS 4 or higher. It says that it is compatible with the iPad. But I would like to know if it is also compatible with the iPhone since it is higher than IOS 4.
My next question is concerning the Fingerprint Touch ID feature with the iPhone 5s. Does it have the option of using a standard password like the older iPhones? Or is it Fingerprint Touch ID only? If it is Fingerprint only I will choose a different phone (currently considering the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 as an alternative). Personally I don't like the idea of using my fingerprint.
    Regards,
    Joshua.

    Hi Joshua,
The MyTunes Pro app in the iTunes app store shows that it is compatible with both the iPad and the iPhone. So, if the developer has made it compatible with iOS7, then you would be able to use the app you have already purchased for both devices.
You do not have to use the fingerprint security if you don't want to:

  • Master iPad configurator question concerning cart syncing with different versions of iPads.

I have a question concerning configurator syncing. Can the master iPad be a different version of iPad than the other synced iPads? For instance can iPad 2 be the master iPad to a group of iPad Air's? The iPad 2 has some fewer capabilities than the Air, would some settings or restrictions be left off of the iPad Airs if they were set up this way?  Thanks.

There is no such thing as 'master iPad'.  If you're using Configurator or Profile Manager control of the setup is done from a Macintosh.

  • IPad capacity drop from iOS 7 to iOS 8

    Hi,
I updated from iOS 7.1.2 to iOS 8 this evening on my wi-fi only 16GB iPad mini w/ retina display (model ME279LL/A). I noticed after the update that the available space on my iPad had dropped about 600MB. After connecting to iTunes further noticed that the capacity of my iPad dropped from 12.80GB to 11.74GB. What happened that I lost over 1GB of capacity?
I restored the iPad and recovered from my backup. Not sure what else could be causing this issue. 4.26GB seems like a lot of space to lose to formatting and whatnot.
    Thanks!

From what I've been hearing, iOS 8 itself takes up about 4.5 GB of space. Apple of course figures you won't need space anymore since you'll just store everything in the cloud now... lol.

  • IPad Screen Question

Not sure if this is a silly question, but - my 8-year-old nephew is visiting and is totally into my (brand-new) iPad. Thing is, he has a raging head-cold... sinus congestion, sneezing, etc. I cringe when he sneezes or even just touches the screen. Anyone have any idea if the Apple-provided wipe will 'sanitize' the screen? If not, does anyone have any ideas of how to truly clean the screen? Thanks much!

Anyone have any idea if the Apple-provided wipe will 'sanitize' the screen?
    What "Apple-provided wipe"?
Unless it says it disinfects, it won't.
any ideas of how to truly clean the screen?
To clean it, use a soft cloth.
To disinfect, use a Lysol (or similar) disinfecting wipe then use a soft cloth to clean it.

  • IPad Mini Questions

Hi, so I was recently thinking about purchasing an Ipad Mini for like an entertainment movie luxury for my mother instead of using my Macbook. I know that you can purchase an lightning to VGA adapter so we could use this capability but the real question is: Can I hook My Ipad Mini into my t.v, using an lightning to VGA adapter and change the iPad Mini at the same time? Please and thank-you and happy mothers day!

No you cannot do this although third party cables and connectors are continually appearing all the time.
However, to do what you are trying to do, it might be worth considering also getting an Apple TV unit. This will allow you to play out form your MacBook and your ipad to the TV wirelessly.  You will also be able to keep it plugged and and charge it at the same time.
Whilst the Apple TV will cost a little bit more you will at least not need to buy the VGA / lightening cable which is also not cheap.
Something definitely worth considering and it is what I do.

  • Capacity question regarding the 1.77 GB "Other" stuff on my Iphone

I am aware that the "Other" issue has been discussed many times, however as I searched those discussions I couldn't find an answer to my question.
I currently have 1.85 GB of free space. If I do a restore to fix the "Other" issue and keep exactly the same amount of apps, music, video, photos, etc as I currently have...will I have more free space after the restore than 1.85 GB?
Also I am playing an 3rd party app game that saves my progress...will I lose my data and have to start over from the beginning if I do a restore?
    Thanks!
    Message was edited by: toppito

More than likely you won't gain any storage capacity. If your "Other" is that large, some iTunes content is not labeled properly.
iTunes creates and maintains a backup for your iPhone which includes data such as most iPhone settings, email account settings, contact info, SMS messages, notes, recent calls, call favorites, 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app, and photos available in your iPhone's Camera Roll.
Before restoring if you have any photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll, you should import these photos by your computer. After importing the photos from your iPhone's Camera Roll, sync your iPhone with iTunes immediately before restoring to update your iPhone's backup if needed.
When restoring, your iPhone will be erased followed by the current firmware version being re-installed. After the firmware is installed, you will be prompted to restore your iPhone from your iPhone's backup, which is the default selection.
This must be followed by a sync.

  • Apple TV / iPad / TV Question

I have got a new Mac Mini plugged into my front room TV, with all my content on it, and am using Plex Media Server and it works great.
    My question:
How do I get access to the same content on my bedroom TV?
    Do I:
    A) send a long HDMI cable though the ceiling ? (!!!)
    B) buy an Apple TV box (can I then access Plex through that?)
    C) use my iPad 2, plugged into the TV HDMI slot and then access Plex through that?
    D) use a completely different manufacturer device (I've spent a fortune already on Apple products!!!)
    E) something else
Please help as its doing my brain in....

C should work, assuming there is an app to assist in accessing the Plex.

  • Future iPad Owner Questions!

Hey everyone! I had a few questions about the iPad.
Do you personally think it would be worth at least $500? I really want it, but I don't know if I should go ahead and get it, or buy a laptop for around the same price.
Secondly, how do iPhone apps appear on the iPad?
    Thanks, guys!

    Hi Nick,
If you do a search, upper right corner, you will get a lot of threads similar to yours. A number of people come on here and ask the other users their views on the iPad.
First, is it worth $500 entry fee? To some people that might be questionable, but it depends a lot on how you will use it. As a book reader? Kinda pricey. As a device that does books very well, surfs the net, does email, gets the Weather Channel, can do thousands of apps - well worth the price.
Second, now that the MacBook Air is out, for a couple hundred more, you really have to make a choice based on your planned usage. The MBA is a terrific machine for not much more size and weight. Plus you can put all kinds of software on it. So, iPad vs MBA - go to an Apple Retail store and spend time with both. That is a very personal decision only you can make.
Third, iPhone apps on the iPad? The iPad gives you the option of native size or 2x size, plus many of the apps are available in iPad native mode also. There are so many apps, you are sure to find something that fits your needs.
Hope this helps...but go to an Apple store and spend time with it.

  • Where to get a definitive answer to an iPad Safari question

I have been looking for an iPad Safari developers forum, where there will be some Safari gurus who can answer a question I have about the "webkit-user-select: none" CSS setting and its effect, if any, upon the touch-event-to-mouse-event mappings in iPad-Safari. Can anyone here point me to a site where Safari programmers discuss the inner workings of the Safari browser?

  • IPad Restore Question

    Hi Guys and Galls,
I'm just after a little bit of advice, I had an iPad for a few days and bought quite a few apps for it and had it backed up on my PC. I had to return the iPad for unforeseeable financial circumstances. So my question is when I get a new iPad in a few weeks how do I get the apps I bought for the old iPad onto the new iPad?
Second question, I’ll be changing my PC in a couple of months will iTunes just backup the iPad on my new PC or will I need to copy over the apps to my new PC from my old PC?
    Many thanks

When getting your new iPad just connect it to your computer and restore it from your previous backup.

  • IPad Syncing Question

Hello! Okay, hypothetically speaking, say you brought a television show on your computer on iTunes, which you then synced to your iPad. My question is: If your computer went kaput before you could save the files, but it was on your iPad. If you then connected to your computer, would it download the episodes on the computer, or would it not due to copyright? Thank you in advance.

iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, and iPhone. The computer must be authorized with the same iTunes account with iTunes that was used to purchase/download the iTunes content.
