Ipad charging cable

We often use our macbook while it is charging which is possible because the power cable is long enough. Is the cable with the ipad long like with a macbook or short like with an iphone?
Thanks

It's too short. Go to monprice below and buy the cable I linked below for less than 2 bucks. It plugs directly into the plug they give you. While you're there and paying for shipping anyway, if you're a Skype user like I am, you can order a set of earphones with a mike for less than 4 bucks although it is currently on backorder. Also linked below. God knows what Apple or Best Buy charges for the same thing, but I ordered both and they worked great with my iPad.

  • How many iPad charging cables are there?

How many iPad charging cables are there?  Anyone know 'officially'?

I suggest you ask the question you are really trying to discover the answer to; for example:
"I need a new charging cable for my iPad 2.  I see there are three different charging cables at the Apple Store.  One has a lightning connector.  One has a 30 pin connector.  The third has an L-shaped connector.  Which one (or ones) of these would work for my iPad 2?"

  • Extra long iPad charging cable.

Anyone know where I can get an extended charging cable for my iPad please.
I tried to use my USB extension attached to iPad cable but it won't work/charge, so I think it's best to get a longer independent cable instead, (well I'll get my carer to get one for me, unless I get one delivered lol)
I need the length to be at least 2 metres, as being disabled I need it to reach my bed from the plug point.
I have looked on amazon in uk but can't seem to find any.
Any and all help would be very appreciated indeed.
Just incase your wondering, I live in the uk so need to get one from this country if possible.

I own several of the ones from monoprice and other 3rd party makers (cable junkie). I think there must be significant current loss in those cables because they either don't work or charge very slowly. Of the 10 rooters I got from monoprice, only 1 registers as charging on my ipad but over night it only charged about 15%. The others won't charge at all. I think that's why apple doesn't sell long sync cables. Instead, their solution is a long ac cord that runs to the power block with a short sync cable.
Funny thing is I know it's physically possible to have a long sync cable. If you look in te windows of an apple store, the ipad is displayed on a stand and the sync cable is curled on the floor, must be over 10 feet in length. I ask at every store and no one knows where it came from or how to get one.

  • New iPad charging cable vs. iPhone 4s cable

Are the charging cables for the iPhone 4s and the New iPad the same? Can I use them interchangeably?

You can use the iPad charger to charge the iPhone. Not a problem. Theoretically, you can use the iPhone charger to charge an iPad. However, the new iPad has a battery that's 70% larger than the iPad 2. The iPhone charger charged the iPad 2 very slowly. I haven't tried charging my new iPad with my iPhone charger but I suspect that, in order to charge it at all, you will need to turn it off. If the iPad is on, especially if you try to use it, I don't think it will charge.
    Best of luck.

  • Ipad charger cable replacments

I have an iPad that uses a lightning/USB style cable. The cable is fraying near the connectors on both ends so I ordered a replacement cable. The iPad says it is "Not Charging" next to the battery symbol when I plug it in. Is there a compatability issue that I am not aware of? If so, can I order a lightning cable from Apple or is thee something else I should be doing?

Are you plugging the other end of the cable into a USB port on some computer ?
Try plugging the other end into one of those Power / USB adapter thingies..
In other words plug it into a wall outlet using an adapter
instead of a USB port on a computer.
(computer USB ports can go into sleep mode and then they stop charging your iPad).

  • IPad charger cable/usb inaccessible? Not charging?

So I got a new Iphone 5 charger for my Ipad 4 and since I couldn't find my apple adapter, I used my phones adapter (which is an android) and it was working fine for a little while. Then one morning I woke up and my ipad wasn't charging. I unplugged the charger and plugged it back in to the ipad but it said that it wasn't accessible and it wouldn't charge. So I left my ipad off and I kept my charger unplugged. Then yesterday I tried it again, but it said the same thing. So I tried my brothers apple adapter, it didn't work. I tried his charger cord with his adapter, it still didn't work... is my ipad no longer charging ? Or do I need a whole new charger ? Please help! I've been through two other chargers already and its frustrating to go through it again!

I have a hard time believing that my two lightning cables, and my brand new lightning to 30 pin cable are all disfunctional.
Especially since my two cables worked perfectly up until yesterday, and my adapter didn't work properly out of the box, only after the other two started failing.
The pins on a lightning cable are assigned by the firmware of the phone. I think that's the real issue. A new cable may help temporarily, but won't work for everyone in the long run.

  • Do I have to use the cable that came with my i home iw3 or can I use the charging cable from my ipad air with an adapter?

Do I need the cable that came with I home iw3 to connect my ipad air or can I use the ipad charging cable with an adapter to connect?

Just from personal curiosity, which web pages did you visit with your question that had you end up here in the 10.3 and earlier forum Circa 2003 obsoleteware?
It seems a common fault with this Apple Spoort site that so many posts are made to this forum that are irrelevant.
Can you post a few links from your browser History, just for research?
To answer your question, to upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6 you need to purchase the 10.6 retail DVD such as from here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
(For your home country use the Apple localised site.)
The DVD is reasonablly priced, and once installed you can upgrade your iTunes etc.

  • Charger cable melted

About 2 years ago I got an ipod 4the generation for christmas. I use it all the time, and had an ipad before that (still use the ipad). My ipad 2's charging cable has served me well, and it is what I have been using until last week. It was getting worn out so I got my ipod's case and found the charging cable from it to use. It worked alright, but it was really hard to put into the iDevices' port. I just kept using my ipads charging cable. Finally, I gave the new cable a test run: I plugged my ipad in, set it on my computer (charging socket is not the same) and went to eat a sandwitch. I come back, and the thing has melted. It charged for about 20 percent and now it is broken because it melted. Wondering why this would have happened? Is it my adapter or whatever the thing is called that you plug the cord into and then put into the wall? Also, will Ibe charged for a new cable and adapter if I go to the nearby apple store? My iPod's warranty is out, but it WAS in effect when I bought the cable if that matters at all. Anyways, thanks for reading, picture is attached (bad quality, sorry, taken with my ipad).

You can buy cables on line. Try googling for them. They are cheap.

It sounds like your cable shorted internally. You say it still charges when connected to the PC? Using the same melted cable!!!??? I hope not. Why would you plug in a melted cable?
You might take it in to the apple store if near by, its under warranty along with the rest of the phone.

  • There is a problem with the charging cable that wont let my iPad charge. it is probably the little usb thingy. it does charge when it is out of power, but as soon as it turns on it stops charging. anyone got a fix for it? mail me at simenrognli@hotmail.no

My chargers little USB port probably is the fail. it lets my ipad charge only when it is completely out of power, but as soon as it turns on, it stops charging. Any tips on what i can do? The charger is new and has worked until today. i cant bring it to the store because it was bought in my neighbour country Sweden. Thanks in advance.

    - Try another cable.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. You can still go if your country has Genius Bars

  • My ipod will not charge from a wall socket but will charge using the same cable if the usb end is plugged into a computer or an airport power source. My iphone and ipad charge fine on the same cable usin ghte same wall plug in the same wall socket?

My ipod will not charge from a wall socket but will charge using the same cable if the usb end is plugged into a computer or directly into an airport power source. My iphone and ipad charge fine on the same cable using the same wall plug in the same wall socket. This makes no sense but I see that it has been posted as a problem elsewhere. This must be due to some kind of degredation of the Ipod. . It is not fixed by IOS resets as others have noted.
Has anyone asked Apple directly about this?

  • Core MIDI from iPad Mini to Mac via lightning USB charging cable

I want to use some of my Core MIDI compatible iPad Apps to control Logic Pro and other DAWs on my MacBook Pro via USB (Core MIDI over WiFi has unmanageable latency issues).
I read on various forums that it is possible to use Core MIDI via USB using the Apple Camera Connection Kit or Lightning to Mini USB adapter, but doesn't this simply work with the included Lightning to USB charging cable?

Image Capture is a built-in program and should be in your Applications folder, Aperture I bought from the Mac App Store.
For Simple Transfer it's an iPad app, so you would download it on your iPad from the app store.

  • Can you use the same charging cable for both an iPhone and an IPad or are they different?  When I use the charging cable for my iPhone on my Ipad, it doesn't charge.

Can you use the same charging cable for both an iPhone and an IPad or are they different?  When I use the charging cable for my iPhone on my Ipad, it doesn't charge.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • What is the best charging cable for the iPad Air (that is not made by Apple)? I need a long cable (over 6ft or more). I also need the cable to be of high quality and the cord part of the cable to be made of strong material.

I also need the cable to be of high quality and the cord part of the cable to be made of strong material. Apple does not make one this long. Is there a cable out there that is sturdy like this and is safe to use?

yes, but I'm trying to use my iPad to type notes (using pages) and I have the smart case which I use as a stand. I need a cable long enough to fit through the back of my desk and the charging brick for the iPad won't fit behind the desk. I have to put it on the floor and then the apple cables aren't long enough to reach.

I have yet to have a cable for my iPad 3, iPad 4 or iPhone 5 fail. I have multiple cables for each device without any failures.

Use Google and you can find them all, over the place.

I just connect my standard 3 foot cable that came with the iPad into the power block and plug the power block into an 8 foot standard white household extension cord. I have done this since day one and it works great.
