Ipad Classroom in a book and Zoo chapter

What is the best format to make every device 'happy' when exporting the zoo chapter in Classroom In A Book?
Thanks,
Joe

Books are subject to copyright restrictions. That aside, the best format depends on what you plan on doing with the content. What are you trying to do?

I am working with Adobe 'Classroom in a book' and it's asking me for 'write access' when saving.
    How do I do that.
I tried going to file >get info and it would not allow me to unlock.
    How do I do that?

It sounds like the folder you are saving to does not have the proper permission for you to write to it. What OS are you using?

  • I'm using ibooks author and have 2 ipads. I was able to use my 1st ipad to preview the book and it worked perfect. Then I needed to use my 2nd ipad and it didn't work

The 2nd ipad is another designers in my department. I did all the tricks that normally make preview work. Unplug ipad, close ibooks, reopen ibooks, then plug into my computer, waited a few minutes, then hit preview. Still nothing?
Plugged my first ipad back in to double check for user error and that works fine.
By chance does ibooks autor only recognize 1 ipad?? the ipads have 2 different "owners" so would that cause an issue??
    thanks!

When I had this problem it was because the iBooks on the iPad hadn't been updated to iBooks 3.
It can't be a number of iPads issue as I've connected a couple of different ones here.
If it's not this then sorry I have no other ideas!

  • Adobe CS6 Premium Classroom in a book

    Hi,
Has anyone read the new Classroom in a book, um...book yet?
I wondered how much new information there would be vs the overlap between it and the CS5 version that I already have.
Thats it...a short and (hopefully) easy question for a monday morning!
    Pierre

    Hi All,
Ok, So I completed the CS6 Production Premium Classroom in a book, and found it quite helpfull. From a beginners point of view, it was a great introduction to the possible workflow using all the Production Premium suite applications together. It was not a book on any particular part of the suite - although it did give some input on each.
Basically, it takes a real life situation of a band promo, supplies a lot of footage and souns clips, then walks you step by step thorugh managing media, managing dynamic link, workinf between applications from importing the first clip, to burning a DVD with menu functions and all.
Really a good read for those out there that dont know how the apps work together, and maybe want to shave some time off their current workflow - by maybe not rendering intermediate renders, but instead using the dynamic link functions.
Ok, so thats my sales pitch - I am now onto After Effects CS6 Visual Effects and COmpositing Studio Techniques by Mark Christiansen.
Now THIS is an interresting book!
I must admit, I have been looking forward to a book that does not give step by step tutorials, but rather explains the workings behind the program - so that the reader can actually interpret it themselves, and start using the effects etc in ways not "guidlined" by someone else.
As Rick has mentioned, blindly following tutorials wont help you learn the program and what it can do.
Having said this, I must shamedly admit that by chapter 2 I am already becoming a little unstuck!
I will keep at it though, and re read most of the book at least once or twice more, but some of the advice given is a little meyond me. For instance, the book has a chapter on the graph editor. Very good, but it assumes you understand the graph interface quite well already. I have not personally used it yet, having not done too manu serious animations, but know that it will be an invaluable tool in the near future - so, Ill take the chapter apart and try, try, try again!
When I have completed the book, I will provide some more feedback for those that are interrested.
(It is Christmas however, and our offices WILL stay open, just not as productive - so forgive me if it takes a week or two to get through the book - there are several factrors working against me at the moment - 1) 89.6 degree temp outside - so hotter in the little office and even worse under the red-heads, 2) a quiet building that we share with other businesses - dark corridors now - makes me tired all the time! 3) The CEO brought in his copy of Starcraft 2 and talked me into buying one as well - never played it before, so I need to learn quickly as we will be having a few rounds next week)
So, as you can all see, I am *terribly* busy at the moment, but I will give the feedabck as soon as I can!
Merry Christmas to all - and heres looking to a wonderful New Year for all of us!

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 Classroom in a Book

    Hello,
I've bought the "Adobe Photoshop CS5 Classroom in a Book" and watched the videos.  In the video training, chapter 3 Image Editing Concepts, Kelly announces that she will deal selections, puppet wraps, layers, masks. I haven't found the videos. Do you know where I can find those videos?
    Thanks
    Aurianne

    Hi Nini Tjäder,
Thanks for the link but I actually have the book that shows the same thing except the links from amazon unfortunately doesn't show the tools and what they do. Thanks anyways. I was able to find a site that shows the list of tools like in the book but better in one single page. I just wish I knew what my professor meant by "concepts" and "skills" since there could be a variety of these but what?

  • Unknown File Type for Adobe Classroom in a Book Fireworks

I am trying to open sand_river1.jpg cited on p. 74 of Adobe Fireworks Classroom in a Book and am getting a "Could not open file" and "unknown file type" despite the fact that the image is displaying as a thumbnail in the file browser.  I get the message on both Windows and Mac Fireworks CS6.  Is it possible these publication assets were not part of Adobe's QA regression?  Anyway:
    - I'd rather not try to fix this myself since it's an Adobe product and I can wait.
    - has this problem been corrected?
    - is there an errata site for the book?  When I search on Google I am just sent to Amazon and bittorrent.
    thanks

A quick Google search for that file name confirmed the issue here, and a fixed version for chapter 4 can be downloaded at http://www.jimbabbage.ca/_files/ch4files.zip

  • Flash--Classroom in a book

I'm trying to learn Flash by using the Adobe Flash "Classroom
in a Book" and I'm stumped. The book is telling me to draw two
overlapping rectangles for masking but every time that I do it
doesn't come out right. If I use only one, things are fine, until I
need to 'free transform". I don't like asking questions but I've
got 7 hours into this chapter and I can't seem to make the tooling
    work for me.
Anyone familiar with the book would be most appreciated. :)

Try to break apart the mask object. Select the image on layer
    Mask and CTRL B.
Do it to all the masks. You are drawing shapes with the
"Object Drawing" option set ON, which should work w/o
problem on a mask layer but in your case seem this is what
cause the problem. After breaking apart each of the
objects, everything seem to work fine.
The option of "drawing object" can be easily turn on or off.
Select rectangle drawing tool and you will see
little icon down the tool bar. Second last, a circle within a
square shape. If you turn it off, your shapes
won't be grouped anymore while drawing and using this option
for drawing mask made the file works - in your case.
Tho take note, with this option set off, the shapes will
merge once you overlap them. They will become one.
    Best Regards

  • Problem with Classroom in a book

I have been working through the lessons in Adobe Premier Elements 11 Classroom in a book and am having a problem with Lesson 6 "Creating a Picture-in-Picture overlay.  the lesson comes with Greenscreen.mov file to be used in the lesson but when I try to use it I get the error message in a pop up "This type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed.  As this is the file downloaded from the CD that came with the book and can't understand why I am having a problem using it.

It appears that my first impression of your situation was correct, that is, another Classroom in a Book corrupt/damaged lesson file as confirmed by nealeh's detailed post numbered 5.
You may want to bookmark this thread and the link to the publisher since you may run into other corrupt/damaged files are you proceed through the book's lessons.
    Regarding what you wrote
As a further note I went on to lesson 7 creating transitions.  You start by openning Lesson07_Start_Win.prel.  It tells me to open the file Lesson07_Movie.mov in the project assets panel and to open and play it in the preview window.  When I do that the greenscreen.mov that I could not open in lesson 6 appears to be running in the preview mode but maybe that is because the whold clip is done together as a completed mov file??
That might be explained by nealeh's report that the greenscreen.mov exists in more than one place.
The following is the link to the Premiere Elements 12 Help PDF. You might want to cross check with it as you go through your book's lessons.

Give the keyframing another look. If problems with the concept and its working through, please let us know and we can provide some step by step information on that.
Glad for the opportunity to be of assistance. Please do not hesitate to ask if you need any help with your Premiere Elements workflows.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Premier CS6 Classroom in a Book - Lesson 11.prproj

I bought Adobe Premier CS6 Classroom in a Book and am trying to use the lesson files that are on the CD.
At school, I have an iMac and all the lesson files load up perfectly, whether they are being loaded from the included CD or from the external 7200RPM Firewire 800 hard drive I have.
Yet, when I try to load the same prproj files on my Windows 7 PC, I get a pop-up error that says:
This project contained a sequence that could not be opened.
No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type.
It isn't just happening on one file. Some of the files open, but most of them do not.
Does anybody have any ideas on what I can do here?
An example of of a file that is giving me this problem can be found at:
    http://www.JCiTech.net/Images-ForumPosts/Lesson11.prproj

IIRC, the CiaB files are MOV. Is that correct?
Do you have Apple's QT Player installed on your PC, and if so, what version?
    Good luck,

  • Trouble with Lesson 10 in Classroom in a Book for Photoshop CS6

I'm working my way through Classroom in a Book and have hit a snag on Lesson 10 (Editing Video). The problem occurs when I do the Add Media step. As stated in the book, I select the 9 files and click the Open button. However, contrary to the book, the video files do not show up in the timeline. In the layer panel, the video layers have a little yellow error symbol and the tooltip says that video footage is not available. Here's a screenshot:
I've repeated the steps several times and always encounter the same problem. Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

First thing that I would do, while gathering the info that Mylenium has asked for, is to check your video driver (Mylenium's suggestion), to see if you have the latest driver for your card. Do this from the manufacturer's Web site, and do not trust your OS to tell you, if you have the latest. Note: if on a Mac, the video driver updates will be applied, when you update your OS - update the OS.
    Good luck,

  • Adobe InDesign classroom in a book

HEllo, just purchased Adobe InDesign classroom in a book and can't seem to find the lesson files for the textbook. Any suggestions? I've registered the book on peachpit.com as instructed.

Classroom in a Book is produced by Peachpit Press for Adobe Press. After you register your book, there should be a place to report errata:

  • Steve Steve Grisetti vs Bill Hunt & "Classroom in a Book" - cognitie dissonance?

Bill Hunt suggested that I size my animations, created in Photoshop and ImageReady, to 1920 x 1080 pixels at 72-dpi for optimal viewing on a 24" widescreen monitor. Ditto both Classroom in a Book and Premiere Elements itself, as regards the intake from my video camera.
Steve Grisetti on the other hand gives a size of 1000 x 750 as a "standard definition video" and recommends a size of 2000 x 1500 for a still of a map that is to be zoomed in and out of, and to slide across the viewing frame.
This is what's called "cognitive dissonance."
Anyone have a clarification of this?

....... I cannot find any definitive statement on PrE 11.
Now, it does not take all that many 4096 x 4096 pixel Images, before most computers will "run out of gas," and especially if it is running a 32-bit OS. Because of that, I would limit the use of very large Still Images, even if the program CAN Import them.

Now we are beginning to agree.
I put 40 full size DNGs and 10 AVCHD 1080p60 video files into a recent project.  The DNGs are 5460 x 3068 and 80 MB each out of an HDR process.  PrE11 didn't flinch  -- not even a little.  My laptop does have an i7, 16 GB of RAM, 64 bit Win 7 and a SSD.  I'm sure the project would choke a Window XP vintage machine.  But, the weak spot is the machine, NOT PrE11.
Bill, you have new laptop.  Try dragging 50 or a 100 full sized RAW photos into fresh PrE11 and see how it does.  Make sure the project settings are forced at AVCHD 1080p60.  Add some transitions and put some Pan & Zoom on them.  I'll bet a bottle of Washington wine for (next winter's consumption in AZ) that you will find it works ver well.
My point in several threads over the last several months is that you should not write that photos need to be re-sized.  Instead you an Mr. Grissetti should consider writing, "Depending on the strength of your computer, you may find resizing will improve the performance of PrE11.  Strong computers may show no change in performance from resizing of photos and in may not be at all necessary."
As a side note, if you have not done it, try a Help > Update check.  If you have a fresh install you will probably have ACR 7.1.  No, I don't now how to check what it is.  But, if you do the update, ACR 7.4 will install.  There is something under the hood that uses ACR and it is not video clips!  It appears to me that Adobe has gradually turned PrE into an NLE that will make slide shows and put them into MP4s that play well on YouTube and Vimeo.
Let me know if I need to bring that bottle of wine.
