IPad connect to internet but nothing works

I bought an IPad 2  in USA as a gift for my parents who live in Peru, they took it there and now they have a problem. The only app they can use is Skype, everything else does not work, not safari emails, app , nothing, it is conected to internet, it has strong signal  but when they try to use safari or emails or other apps it says is not conected to internet. we use Skype webcam without a problem, but thats it.  We have tried everything, connect and disconnect, reset it twice, but nothing . please help!

What did they reset, the ipad or the router?
What iOS version is installed? (Settings, General, About, Version) 5.1.1 is the latest. Updating it to this, if not already done might help!

  • IPAD connected to internet, but it says it's not.

Searching for this seems to be a common problem, however none of the solutions have worked....Where is APPLE SUPPORT for this. If it's a common problem, then there should be an Apple common solution, not a bunch of hacks with their obvious solutions that don't work.
Problem: The IPad is connected to the router, and the router is connected to the net. I have a very strong signal. I have reset the router, and have reset the IPAD, many, many times. I have tried to reconnect, many, many times...I have forgotten and reinitialized...many, many times...but, it's still not working. The router says the devise is connected and has all permissions and such.
The problem still exists. The IPAD says its connected to the router, but none of the programs can reach the internet. THE ROUTER IS CONNECTED TO THE NET - all of my other devices, including my iPhone, all connect without a problem. It's only the IPAD. Safari says: cannot open the page because your iPad is not connected to the internet.   ******* ********!!! it is connected.
NOW! what is the solution APPLE? huh? how can I fix this because I'm totally confused on how everything else works, but the IPAD doesn't - huh? ***? why is there always some overly technical problem with your company. People like simple sweet, not a bunch of overly technical crap...that works one day, and for no other reason, just stops the next.
    I'm tired of it.

    Try the following:
    1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
    2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    3. Reset iPad; hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo

  • MacBookPro and iPad connect to internet, but not iPod Touch

    I have a MacBook Pro running 10.8.2
    and a 3G iPad running 6.0.1
Both of these are connecting to WiFi and working correctly.
Also have 4G iPod Touch running 6.0.1
It used to connect with no problems, but no longer does.
I tried this, with no solution:
    - Reset the iOS device. Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    Suggestions, please?
I want my iPod Touch back in use!

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
    Did the iPod connect before?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Maybe this problem. You are not giving much information.
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

  • Airport connected to internet, but not working in Safari or Firefox?

I had an airport network in my last apt. We just moved, and I can't set it up in our new apt! Our internet connect def works, and I get a green light on the airport. It says: <Airport is connected to the network "xxx". You are connected to the Internet via Airport/>
But then both Safari and Firefox say "server not found"!
    what am I doing wrong?
      Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I have other info on the modem I'm trying to connect to.
It is of a sensitive nature so I don't want to post it here.
    HELP PLEASE!
2WIRE Modem is having a problem connecting the browser. the modem says I'm connected but my browser can't surf.
I do have the network name as well as the encryption key.

  • Cannot connect to internet but was working other day

Ok I have a wireless WRTG5 (or whatever) version 5.0
I have Verizon DSL and the wireless network consists of a laptop and Xbox and the main PC, which im on now. Last night, I guess we lost power for a split second cause the battery thing started beeping. My dad pushed the button, as you're supposed to do, to shut the PC off and then turned it on again.
When it was all done, nobody touched anything, but the wireless isn't connecting the net connection. We've had it working for about a month, maybe a bit more. I can connect, obviously, directly via the modem.
When I try to do wireless, the adapter connects to the router but then it says "You are connected to the access point, but the Internet cannot be found." Again, nobody touched ANYTHING outside of the button thing on the PC, which has been done before and hasn't affected the wireless. I tried resetting it, unplugging, and even repairing. Didn't work.
Any help would be appreciated, and this is my first post and I DID Look through the other threads, but decided I needed some specific help. I'm not ultra geeky when it comes to PC terms, so try to make the replies easy for someone like me to understand.
    Thanks in advance.

Sorry, it's my Desktop PC that the Router and Modem are connected with.
I went into the thing with my IP addy into internet explorer. I couldn't find where to change the IP and all the stuff with the IP seemed normal. None of them had the one that the router said it was operating on.
If I create a NEW umm channel, or whatever, will I have to redo the Laptop and my Xbox config wirelessly? I should note I had a friend install all of this router/wireless stuff for me, since I am nto good with this kind of thing. So, I'm not completely up on how to do all this stuff. I was gonna ask if he could do something but I haven't got the chance to talk to him, so I came to you guys.
That's where the situation stands right now. I just wanna make sure I'm not setting myself up for hours of work. I'm sure it's easy, since he didn't take too long setting it up. But I don't like messing with things that might screw up my system/modem etc beyond what it is already.

  • Imac can't connect to internet but ethernet working

Any ideas on how to resolve this, has me baffled. In an office where all other computers can connect but for some reason this imac can't.

Is the  indicator next to Ethernet in the left Network panel breen or red?  Green should indicate it is enabled.
Did you se your IPv4 setting appropriately (probalby DHCP).
Try using alternate DNS servers such as OpenDNS (208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220) or google's DNS's (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4).  Click the Advanced button, TCP/IP, and renew your lease if you are using DHCP.  Configure IPv6 as Automatically (or off?).  Also make sure all proxies are off.
For comparison look at the Network settings for one of the machines that is working.
Finally, is this machine connected to a router that may have its own problems?

  • My iPad 2 turns on but nothing works and turns off in about 5 seconds.

Why does my iPad 2  turn on when I open it but none of the features work then it shuts off after about 5 seconds.  It shows the box "Not enough storage" but the close nor the Settings will do anything.  The sliding arrow blinks but I can't slide it to open.  The clock is always on time.  It's like it's frozen to that.  Please someone help!

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...
    Restart / Reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    Backing up, Updating and Restoring
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you try all these steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...
Be sure to make an appointment first...

  • Connected to internet but not working

saying its connected but says cant activate (3000) help please

There is a heavy demand on the update servers right now doe to a high demand for the new OS patch. You could try later.
It could also be your wifi.
You can try a friend's wifi or a free hotspot to see if you get better response at setup at least. A friend of mine uses the cafe hotspot under his office floor!
If you have a UK Virgin router you may have to change the wireless encryption method to WPA or WPA2 with a new passphrase, and I believe it's not easy to get into the setup menu on those.  Been reported before.  Go to 192.168.0.1 on your main computer's web browser and see if you can get in.  or try 192.168.1.1.
If that fails open a command prompt in Windows (Start > Run type CMD). In the command prompt window type IPCONFIG and hit enter. The Default Gateway is your router IP.
The admin password if it has one may be on the router's label.

  • I can't connect to the router in my home.  Things were working fine as usual - I attended school and connected to their WiFi network as usual.  When I returned home I could not connect to my own home router.  The Ipad seeks the network but nothing happens

I can't connect to the router in my home.  The Ipad seeks the network but nothing happens.  I went to school and connected to their WiFi network as usual with no problems.  When I returned home I could not connect to my home router.  The Ipad seeks the router number but nothing happens.  I rebooted the Ipad a few times in the school.  The numbers identifying the router, etc. on my Ipad no longer appear there.
TThe Ipad guide says to connect to the WiFi use setup but I can't find the setup program in the Ipad.
I reset the network settings to the factory defaults but this doesn't fix the problem.
What can I do to reconnect to my home router?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

What error do you get if any?
Have you tried connecting to another network besides your own?
Do you use DHCP on your router or static IP address?

My Ipad is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen, I have tried plugging into iTunes but it makes the necessary noise but the computer does not recognise it and nothing alters on the Ipad screen. Have tried various computers and leads and it still does not work.  Have also tried the switching off, plugging in to computer and turning on again using the on button and then the home button but nothing works.  This happened while I was downloading software update.   Please help me.

I suggested several things to GeekyNerdGirl in her first post here. Take a look.
My iPad is in what seems like permanent restore mode after iOS 7.2 update?
It can take more than a few attempts before Recovery Mode will work and you have to follow the steps exactly. DFU mode is even harder to perform correctly beside of the 10 second hold. Don't stop trying. Eventually one of these methods could work for you.

make sure it's not being connected to by any of the other two
one can only connect 1 device at the time and just by waking up sometimes a headset connects to a device
    automaticly
then forget the bluetooth device in OS X and put the headset in pairing mode / discovery mode and connect with it once again with the mac

  • My ipad just won't let me enter my apple password on FaceTime or iMessage, it works fine on my iPhone, I have tried numerous things but nothing works, can anybody help please, will a bug fix sort this out when they finally make one

My ipad just won't let me sign in with my apple password on FaceTime or iMessage since updating to ios7 it says check my network connection, even though my iPhone works fine with the same password, can anybody help please, I have tried numerous things but nothing  works.  Will I have to wait for a bug fix to sort this? I hear they are working on one a the minute, I hate ios7

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.
