IPad contacts and syncing

Hi, I recently changed to outlook.com e-mail.
I notice now, when I sync, my iPad that under "contacts" the information - not the contacts - but the information is displayed twice as each contact is linked with "outlook.com" and "from the iPad" so it's picking up all information within each individual contact twice.
I have never added any contacts via the iPad so all my contacts are syned from my outlook.com contacts - so, where are the "from the iPad" contacts coming from?  How can I prevent this duplication of information?
Any help is appreciated and thank you.

I assume that you have synced with Outlook before and it has stopped working.  If you've never connected with Outlook before, take a look here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1418 .  If that did not help try chosing Windows Contacts to sync.  Does that work (contacts show up in Contacts folder on your PC)?

If you can see the iCloud contacts in Outlook, you can copy them back to your PC by selecting all the contacts (click one, then press Control-A), then drag and drop the selected contacts to Contacts under My Contacts on the left sidebar of Outlook.
If you want to copy your calendar back to Outlook, select your iCloud calendar on the left sidebar of Outlook, switch to the list view (select View from the ribbon, then click Change View>List), select your events (click on a single event, then press Control-A), then control drag and drop them to Calendar under My Calendars on the left sidebar.
Then you can sign out of iCloud on the iCloud control panel and your local copies will still be there.  If you want to add your iCloud email account back to iCloud, you can do this with these settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.

  • IPad contacts stopped syncing to google contacts.  Why?

It used to be that I could add a contact to my ipad contacts and it would instantly sync to my google contacts, and vice-versa.   Now, it only does so from google to iTunes .
Is there a way to correct this?

Go into Settings > Mail, Contacts, and Calendars and verify a google contacts account is added.

    hi,

The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer regularly.  Your contacts should be in whatever program you have chosen to sync (Outlook or Address Book for example).

There are no official MS Office apps for the iPad.
Luckily, Apple has built a lot of the functionality into iOS5.
Go to Settings >> Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Near the top, hit Add Account.
    Select Exchange.
Fill in the details. You may need to ask your IT guys for the details if you don't know all of them.
You can use the standard Mail, Contacts and Calendar apps for those items. Tasks is handles by the Reminders app.
As James said, the functionality is more limited than the full desktop apps, but you can perform probably 80-90% of common tasks fairly easily.

  • Syncing 1 App with iPad - erase and sync?

    Hey guys,
I obtained a loaner iPad for a movie making competition I'm doing this week. Awesome device, but have one question.
The iPad comes pre-loaded with certain Apps. I want to put one of my apps onto the iPad. If I do this, will it erase and sync the app like I think it's going to, or will I be able to add one app without erasing any content from the iPad?
I think I know the answer, but it doesn't hurt to double check.

    It willerase everything.
Just redownload the app from the App store.
Make sure you are signed into your iTunes account. Settings > Store.
Open the App store then tap Purchases across the bottom and redownload the app.
And since it is a loaner iPad, make sure to erase it before returning it.
Settings > General > Reset - Erase All Content and Settings.

  • IPad contacts and iCloud

    Hi there
In iCloud I have 1207 contacts, which are mirrored on my iPad if I show only iCloud contacts. However, if I select show only "On my iPad" contacts I have a total of 1220, and if I choose to show all contacts I have a total of 1232 contacts.  I assume I have created a number of contacts on my iPad, but is there an easy way to see only the contacts that aren't in iCloud?
    Mitch

    Hi David
That could be the reason, or I might have added some records to iPad contacts rather than iCloud. But what I'd like to know is how do I see only the ones that are just in "On my iPad" I think there may not be a way.
    Thanks for your help

  • Just started up my new ipad mini and synced it with itunes i went in to photos to delete some of the unwanted pictures but!!! There is no delete button

Went to delete pictures on ipad mini and there was no delete button Help!!

If pictures was synced from your computer then it can't be deleted directly on the iPad, you will need remove/de-select it from where you synced it from on your computer and re-sync.

  • Multiple problems with calendar, contacts, and syncing

    (1) My iPhone is mis-labeling times in my calendar. For example, I received an invitation from a Windows user for a calendar that is synced to my iPhone. The time on my work desktop is for 10:30. The time that showed up on my iPhone was 11:30. Also, on a calendar I have on my Mac, a recurring appointment at 1:00 p.m. on Thursdays was mis-labeled in my iPhone for several different times--one at 2:00. One at 12:30.
    (2) My iPhone is not pushing calendar events in either direction--either from my iPhone to my Mac or from my Mac to my iPhone. I think the same is true for Contacts, even though I have checked my settings and all are scheduled to push.
    (3) I believe my Contacts are being deleted when I try to sync to my Mac with a wire.
Any help to any of these problems would be much appreciated.

Give this a try:  Go to google.com Contacts and remove any numbers or symbols that are in a contact's name.

  • Contacts and syncing

I have a Windows machine with Mozilla Thunderbird as my mail client.  The last few times I synced my phone, ALL of my email contacts were on the phone along with the ones that I had entered into the phone itself.  (prior to that synced left my contacts list alone).  When I get the message about syncing changing the contacts I click "cancel" at that stage and all used to go smoothly.  So, yesterday I was syncing, got the message about how syncing will change my contacts list, so again I clicked "cancel" at that point.  Now, my contact list only had 6 contacts in it!!  I am in the process of restoring my iphone to the backup from before this happened, but can anyone shed light on what's going on with the contacts list?
    Thanks!!

I wasn't aware that syncing contacts with Thunderbird was supported.
With Windows, syncing contacts is supported with Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 along with syncing calendar events and notes, or with the address book application used by Outlook Express with XP and by Windows Mail with Vista and Windows 7 called Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only.
What is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes for syncing contacts?

  • How can I sync my Ipad contacts and calendars with my Imac? Can I go back to previous OS?

The main use of our Imac for my OH has been spoilt with the new operating system.  He is getting a message "moving calendars to serveraccount" and it is taking hours to do.  He used to sync easily by cable.

iTunes 11 for Mac: Sync contacts, calendars, and other info with iPod, iPhone, or iPad   . If you use OS X Mavericks v.10.9 or later, your contacts, calendars, and other info are updated on your computers and iOS devices via iCloud. For more information, see iCloud Help at icloud.com.
Instead of reverting to the previous OS X, use iCloud > Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices.

  • Groups in Windows Contacts and Syncing

On my PC I run Vista and Windows Mail which utilizes Windows Contacts. I have approx. 500 contacts in WC, some of which are mine and some are my wife's. I created two new contact groups within WC, one for myself and one for my wife, and copied the whole list of 500 contacts to each. This now gives me three separate lists - the main group, my group and her group, which are all identical. As expected, we can edit and customize the individual groups (mine and hers) with no problem, and (also as expected) if one edits the main group it also changes the two sub groups. So for example if I delete an entry in the main list it also deletes it from the two sub group lists. So far so good.
    Now, when I sync our individual iphones, I can get each phone to pick up our individual lists also with no problem. However, my problem is this;
If I make changes to my contact list ON MY iphone (for example deleting contacts), when I sync it with my PC the next time, it will cause the deletion of those contacts in both my contact list on the PC, AND in the main contact list so they are lost forever.
Another thing I don't quite understand is how to delete "All Contacts" from the iphone. I don't think that you can. It seems as though "All Contacts" is a default that cannot be changed and is generated by compiling all of the individual contact lists on the iphone.
    Thanks

    Hi there,
the only way to move a contact from one group to another is making the change within the Adressbook app on your Mac (or via the corresponding Windows application which should in all likelihood be MS Outlook) and afterwards sync your iPhone via iTunes or MobileMe.
Moving contacts between groups on the iPhone itself is currently not possible, maybe iOS 5 will change that.

  • Why my iPad contacts not syncing?

    with my computer?

First things to check is to make sure iCloud is on on both devices and you are signed I n to the same account on each device. Also check to make sure Contacts syncing is on on both devices.

  • HT1694 how do I import my email contacts from my msn account to my ipad contacts and email?

I cannot get my email contacts into my iPad from msn, I tried plugging in to ITunes, and going in through settings on the Ipad.  I can see my contacts if I just sign in from the msn page instead of going in through my mail app.

Under Manage select Export. This will create a WLMcontacts.csv file.
In Contact, select File > Import. Navigate to the .csv file.
