IPad Contacts corrupted - how replace?

Due to an apparent syncing error, listings in my iPad Address Book were doubled and some even tripled and data jumbled from one contact in fields of another contact. No way to just delete some files since almost all had bad information.
After clearing the entries in the iPad Address Book (thinking I could reinstate the information from the Mac), when I attempted to sync, I was warned that "syncing with the iPad would change more than 5% of the contacts on my computer with would change the Contacts on my Mac" which is not what is wanted.
I can not see a way to move the 326 Address Book entries from the Mac (which is correct and backup has been done) to the iPad which is now completely blank of information. I can find nothing in Apple help or in the iPad manual to deal with this problem.

Make a backup of your Mac Address Book (File, export, archive, I think)
Set iTunes sync to 'replace contents of the iPad'
Sync contacts via iTunes.
That should do it

Unfortunately you can't add all at once. But you save a lot of time by the copy/paste method (double-tap at a mail address, tap "copy", go to the "Contacts" app, enter the contact you want to paste the address in, tap "Mail address", then double tap again and tap "paste").

The problem is that both your devices are logged into the same icloud account, thus they share all data. When you edited her contacts, they were synced to your device.
Go to: Settings>iCloud and scroll to bottom of screen, if the account is not the right one. There, tap Delete Account (this only disconnnects device from that account, no data on icloud is deleted) and then enter the ID that you want used (the icloud account) on that device.

On your Mac, for duplicates, switching Contacts off then back on in System Preferences > iCloud may prevent duplicates.
On the iPhone / iPad tap Settings > iCloud. Make sure Contacts and Calendars are swtiched on.
Try restarting your Mac and your iOS devices when items won't sync as they should.
To restart an iOS device: Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

When I tap on my ipad contacts, they look okay until I go to use an export contacts app, then it shows (what I don't see from my contact ipad book) that only 3 contacts are actually on my ipad and the rest are in icloud. icloud took the majority of them off that I had on there prior to using icloud, and why it left 3 behind is strange. When I realized I could finish updating "my ipad contacts" via the icloud website (WindowsXP Desktop- Yes, it is old!) I didn't hesitate or think twice about it. I'm trying to organize contacts and get them in one place (my ipad) and be able to have a backup (icloud). How do I be the master holder or keep my ipad contacts while using icloud for my backup? There are other apps that I want to use in the future with my contacts, since viewing options to print or read in list form, without seeing the contact book or field titles (while at the icloud website) is set to one option "default" and one entry at a time. I guess if there were more favorable viewing options from the icloud web screen, I would not be concerned.

If you want to back them up for safekeeping, you can use an app like My Contacts Backup to do so. If you want to view you iCloud contacts on your computer, you'll have to upgrade to Vista SP2 or higher, and run Outlook 2007 or 2010. These are required to access your contacts on your computer (more information here: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html).

You should be able to:
Disable automatic syncing of devices (Edit > Preferences > Devices)
Backup the device to the new installation (Right-click device > Back Up)
Transfer your purchases into your authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in the apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

If your Microsoft Outllok is not connected to an Exchange server then Wallace-izm have the right tip. However, I assume that you use Microsoft Outlook with Exchange which is connected to your work email. The best option is to create an Exchange Account on your iPad and any change made in either the PC or your iPad will be synced both ways. But beware that this will consume Data and you should check your data plan beforehand.
Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calenders in your iPad. Now select Add Account... and select Microsoft Exchange from the list. Now you need to insert some information which you can collect from your IT guys or a Tech Savvy colleagues. Once you have set up the account, you can choose which ones you want to sync with - Mail, Contacts, Calenders etc. The first sync will take some time but subsequent Syncs will take much less time.
Now your mails will start coming into your iPad. All your MS Outlook Exchange Contacts will also shown up in your iPad contacts. You can choose how frequently your mails are fetched or you can check mails manually.

I figured this out for my iPad so maybe this will help here for adding birthdays and events from Facebook.
1. Using an iPad open Safari. Don't try using the Facebook app.
2. Once in Facebook click on the link "Events".
3. You will want to hold the iPad in landscape mode versus portrait or make sure you are zoomed out to see the whole page. Click on the icon that looks like an asterisk ( * ) next to the button "Today".
4. Click "Export" from the pulldown menu.
5. A pop-up will appear showing two links that read "export your friends' birthdays" and the other "upcoming events". Clicking either one will make a pop-up appear asking you if you want to subscribe.
6. Click on subscribe. A final pop-up will appear where you can click on "View Events" or "Done". "View Events" will launch the iCalendar app.
