IPad crashes constantly?

How do I keep my iPad from crashing? Is there a fix?

More info might help. But....
Two things that might help. Reset all your settings and reset the phone.  Use the Settings app to reset all settings. Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings  Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that helps.
With iOS 7 it is recommended that you have 15-20% of the storage space on the device free.  For a 16 GB device that is 2.4-3.2 GB free. For a 32 GB device that is 4.8-6.4 GB free. For a 64 GB device that is 9.6-12.8 GB free.

  • Is anyone else's iPad crashing, constantly, after the last update? iOS 8

After updating to the new iOS 8, my iPad is running slow and it crashes every time I open more than 2 windows on the safari, what's the deal?

    Hi Cisco7545,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
To start troubleshooting this issue, please go ahead and first force close all of the apps currently running on the device, and then reset it by following the steps in the articles below.
iOS: Force an app to close
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    Take care,

  • New iPad crashes constantly, it *****

Hey people, I just want to let you know my story:
A few weeks ago I bought the new iPad. its screen, its sound, everything is incredible, but its stability... there havent been any day without a problem. I know what you would say: why dont you try to restart or take it to Genius to let the Apple staff check it... well I already did that, and you know what? even though they replaced my iPad for a brand new twice, the same f*** story is happening....
This issue could happen with any app, but of course is rare on Facetime or Safari. It comes to my mind that this occurs very often with ebooks (which I may suppose use a large amount of memory)... however, Isnt it prepared for a high amount of memory ussage?
By the way, this happens even when I have only ONE app open.
What in the world can I do?
PS; in case youre curious, i.e., the ebook from Padworx soft is Dracula.
    Thanks in advance
    Felipe

i bought an iPad Mini Retina earlier this week
came back home, updated to iOS 7.0.4 and it crashed many times, while browsing settings but also some apps
i had it exchanged because of a yellow tint on the screen
got a new one, under 7.0.3, also crashed several times, updated to 7.0.4, still crashing
wondering if the new 64-bit processor has something to do with the code used for iOS

  • My first generation ipad crashes constantly

I have restored my ipad to its factory settings and installed only 1 app and my ipad still crashes.. I can barely use it any longer. What can I do??

What you can do is clear some RAM memory on the apps you're using.
IOS 7.0+: Double tap the home button, the multitasking bar should pop up. Drag all the apps outside by sliding it up.
OLDER IOS VERSIONS: Double tap the home button. Press and hold on any app there. After you do, press the red minus button on all of the apps. This should clear some of the RAM.
If this does not work, simply press and hold on the off button, and slide the red bar. This should shut down your iPad. Now, turn it back on by pressing on holding on either the off or home button.
If it still doesn't work, you'll have to buy a new iPad for better experience. :-)
    Thanks!

    Ab

  • IPad Crashing Constantly With Safari

I'm new to this forum, but I have looked around to see if there was a solution to this issue, so far found nothing.
Basically when I'm in Safari my screen will all of the sudden start jumping around. It will zoom in and out, move left to right, up and down, all on its own. I can't click/touch on anything as its now unresponsive. When I exit it out I can no longer use any other app. All the icons are now non-responsive to touch. It won't let me shut down normally either as I have to do the home/power button reset to get it off and back on.
I've tried clearing my cookies, history, cache, yet same thing. I've noticed it happening when searching in Google, and when checking my football and hockey pools. Sometimes it doesn't do it at all but today its been almost every few minutes. Its not jailbroken, and i've done all the updates. It only started happening a few days ago and there's been no changes at all to the device.
    Any help at all?
    Please and thanks!

I'm hoping I wont have to get to that point. But thats what its looking like its coming to. I haven't come across anyone else with the issue.

iPad 1 Safari Crashes Constantly and getting worse day by day.  Has Apple come up with a solution?  Now I am hearing its also happening on the newer models.  My company is about to buy a lot of tablets and I will not recommend Apple anything until they fix the problem.  Granted 30 or 40 iPads is not a huge impact but i promise once the outside world hears about this BS things will change.  There are plenty of other tablets out there that do not have this problem.  At the very least we should have the option of rolling back to a stable IOS...

I have already tried all the things mentioned above as well as other things such as other browsers etc.  Its is obviously a problem with the hardware.  I also borrowed a brand new 4th gen iPad and it does the same thing.  Even after upgrading it to 6.01.  An occasional crash is one thing and can easily be waved off but this is clearly systemic and the problem appears to be related to graphical images and videos.  Both iPads are the 64gb versions, the only difference other than model is the iPad 1 has ATT cellular.  The new version is clean i.e no other APPs loaded other than what came with it.  I have 7 more coming but im seriously considering sending them back in favor of an Android tablet or the MS Surface.

  • Is it the new iPad Mini Retina or IOS 7 CRASHES CONSTANTLY

Is it the new iPad Mini Retina or IOS 7 CRASHES CONSTANTLY
    I hate to, but I feel I am a guinea pig at 700.00 a crack 128gb mini.
I have 4 of them and THEY ALL DO IT. I have restored, setup as new ipad but nothing works.
also, the colors on the new ipad mini seem dull and off. I have a plum colored car and it looks brown on the mini.
    Giving up...

  • Why is Safari crashing constantly on my new iPad Air?

Safari crashes constantly.  I've reset, rebooted, deleted, cleared, and cussed.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without be charged again.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

  • Apps crashing constantly on Ipad 1 after update

I updated my Ipad 1 recently and now most of the apps crash constantly.  I have read the threads about deactivating icloud.I dont even know what it is, i've never used it or activated it. I went into my settings---I cloud, and there is no options for this app. I need a walk through or something...

I am not running a lot of apps, restarting it does nothing, restoring to factory settings does nothing. If there is not a simple cost free fix, I will be trading my Ipad in for a new windows tablet.

  • IPad 1, iOS 5.1.1 - App Store crashes constantly

The App Store app on my old iPad 1 crashes constantly when I browse though apps.
I open it, select maybe a category or search for something, open two or three apps and use the "back" button to get back to the overview. Crashes pretty soon.
All other apps are closed, iPad freshly restarted, nothing helps.
It's very difficult to buy something.
    Thanks for your help.

    Saw this on another post.
Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it!   It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • Safari and other apps crash constantly.  Why?

Safari and many other apps crash constantly - the screen just goes black and then back to the home screen.  Is this a common problem?

    1. Double-click the Home button to see all Inactive Apps in Task Bar
    2. Hold the Apps down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close App
    4. Tap center of screen to return to Home Screen
    5. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider

  • Itunes unusable - crashing constantly since new operating system

Since upgrading to MAC OS X version 10.7.3, itunes has been crashing constantly.  It will not even open and is completely unusable.  Now Outlook is also crashing.  I use itunes with my ipad, ipod, ipod touch, kobo reader.  Any ideas?

So keep us posted how you solve the problem. I have a iPod mount issue posted also. Doesn't seem to be a fix that I have found.
People have suggested resetting the iPod, which you lose all your music/files - but what makes me nervous is some people restore/reset and it still won't work!
There has to be an answer to this.
Let us know if you do take the iPod to Apple.

  • My iPad is constantly shutting down applications automatically

IPad is constantly closing down applications on its own

That means the apps are crashing and there could be a number of reasons why it is happening. Start with a couple of easy troubleshooting steps and see if they help.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or quit all apps and restart the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Mail crashing constantly in Leopard but only for one user

Has anyone else seen this problem? Leopard installed correctly and seems to run fine on a G4 Powerbook BUT Mail3.0 crashes constantly. Cannot open or delete a message. Simply opening and then quitting causes a crash. However, I can still receive and send mail. Here is the uncaught exception thrown by Mail:
    * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'trying to set a non-ToDo MailboxUid for a ToDo. The MailboxUid for a ToDo must be a ToDosMailboxUid'
Permissions repaired. File ownership checked. Reloaded Leopard with Archive&Restore. Nothing seems to help. However, other logins on the same Powerbook dont have any problems. Mail works fine for those IDs.
Has anyone got a solution or do I have to wait for 10.5.1 for some relief?
    Thanks......

Have you tried synchronizing the mailbox? (The pop-up menu accessed by the little cog icon in the lower left corner of the Mail window, or the Mailbox menu)
How about taking the Mail account off line and then reconnecting it?
Do you have lots of messages in this Inbox? Moving old email to an archive "On My Mac" so they're removed from the dot-Mac server reduces the amount of synchronization that has to be done and thus less risk of encountering a corrupt message file.
Are there lots of attachments to messages? Sometimes a corrupt attachment can cause a problem.
    Just some ideas.

There is a bug in the spellchecking functionality when typing in the web view or while using Blogsy App. Why? Why my IPad crashes so often?

I have always found spell check to be "buggy" in every version of all of the iOS's that I have run on my original model iPad and my new iPad - especially when replying and typing posts in these forums. It works perfectly in every other application on my iPad but it has never worked perfectly in any web browser that I have used on my iPad - no matter what I have done to try to correct it. That is what MY experience has been with spell check on my iPads.
As for the crashes on your iPad try these basic troubleshooting steps.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
