Ipad Digital Audio USB Output

Hi !
No working since 4.2.1 ... Same as all problem with the Camera connector : "The connected USB device requires too much power".
Not funny ...

No.
Mainly because you can't access USB storage...or audio.

  • IPad digital audio output

I just realized that we can get the digital audio output from iPad 2 by connecting the camera connection kit, via the USB cable to a digital converter. The sound quality is unbelievable good. That's mean we can save the money of not buying any dock e.g. Wadia 170i.

Hey Mitch, I have a related question that it looks like you may be able to help me with.
I would like to use an Ipad (not purchased yet) to connect with an external audio solution.
So I need to run out through the Lightning Digitial AV converter to get the digital audio to my external DAC.  Then I run Optical out to my amp.
My goal is to be able to watch Videos on the iPad while listening to the audio through external speakers.
It currently appears that when you connect the iPad via the Lightning Digital AV converter and attempt to watch a Video, that the video and audio signal gets sent to the external reciever and the iPad screen goes blank and becomes a "remote control" but no longer displays the video.  I noticed that this is only with video because the iPad screen does not go blank for games or browsing.
Are you aware of an app....or any other solution that allows my solution to work?
To date, I have tried this solution with multiple tablets and the only one that it works on (that actually mirrors Video) while exporting digital audio is the Kindle Fire HD.
I can't believe this is an original idea and am shocked that Apple doesn't enable you to leave the video on the iPad screen while also sending the video and audio signal to an external source.
    Thanks

  • Optical Digital audio - No output control

I'm trying to use the optical audio output on my late 2006 Mac Pro 1,1 (A1186), but no audio signal is received by my Sony audio amplifier even though the "Optical digital audio out" port and my TOSLINK cable show a red glow,
System Preferences says: "The selected device has no output controls." That same message has been displayed for Sound > Digital Out ever since my Mac was new, but this is the first time I've wanted to use that sound output.
Did my Mac Pro come with the needed controls? If "yes," how do I activate them? If "no," where can I obtain them?
Thanks for any help or suggestions!
    Don

yep-try looking under system preferences-->sound--or fire up Audio Midi Setup and see if you can get it switched over that way.  Dunno about your reciever. You may have to switch it over to digital on that input. I'll turn it over to someone more capable than me at the moment. Gotta go

  • About the digital audio input/output

So, those accept optical digital audio, and what kind of other digital audio signals?, what kind of adapter i need to use this feature?, so it is compatible with any 5.1 audio system like home theathers etc?

so it is compatible with any 5.1 audio system like home theathers etc?
As long as the stereo has a digital optical audio input, yes.
The port is a "mini-Toslink" port so you'll need a mini-Toslink to Toslink adapter and then a standard digital optical audio cable (Toslink cable). Sometimes you can find a cable with one of each plug at either end.

  • 10.4.9 - Major audio problems with digital audio

I have a Digital XMPCR radio with Edirol MA-20D Digital speakers
I now have major audio problems, the audio is garbled and doesn't sound as strong. Kinda like a FM radio in a car that is loosing signal when you are traveling.
I use this XMPCR for a couple of hours a day and had no problems this morning prior to installing the update.
I have a XMPCR that was modified for Toslink/Digital connection. I connect the XMPCR to my Mac Pro 2.66 with toslink cables and connect my Edirol MA-20D digital speakers with toslink cables. I use Amoeba's "LineIn" for audio pass through.
I thought it might me the FTDIUSBSerialDriver so I reinstalled it, did not fix the problem.
I also have a real bad "buzzing" sound going on in the background. When I quit JXM (the application for changing channels on the XMPCR), the "buzzing" goes away but I have a rapid ticking sound coming out of the speakers until I quit LineIn.
Anyone else have any problems with their digital audio input/outputs?

I dont use the digital XMPCR radio, but I use Digital Performer to record audio and MIDI and I use exclusively the Built-In Audio input and Output and everything is working fine after the 10.4.9 Upgrade.

  • How to Output Digital Audio to Male Mini USB Connector?

I would like to input digital audio from my iPhone 5 to my headphone DAC/amplifier. The latter has a mini USB female connector for digital signal input. I envisage the following options, listed in the order of preference:
    1. A cable with a male Lightning connector to a male Mini USB connector. This would be the most elegant solution but does such a cable exist?
    2. Apple Lighting to female Micro USB adapter plus a male Micro USB to male Mini USB cable. Does this pass audio?
    3. Apple Lightning to male USB connector (the cable which came with the phone) plus a female USB to male Mini USB connector. This should work technically because the Apple stock cable does output audio from the phone to my car audio system.
    4. Any other ideas?
Which of the above options would be best to send digital audio from my iPhone 5 to my headphone DAC/amplifier? Thank you.

I believe you are not correct. You likely have not read my question entirely because I said that:
"This should work technically because Apple stock cable does output audio from the phone to my car audio system".
In other words, I connect my iPhone 5 using the supplied Lightning charging cable to the USB input of the car audio system and the music plays just fine.
However, I need a cable that has a Mini USB male connector, not a regular USB connector. Is there such a thing, or should I go with Options 2 or 3?
    Thanks.

  • Digital audio input via mini jack/toslink from ADA, monitored via USB audio output... is this do-able? I know digital audio input should be okay but how do I monitor it, apart from using the internal speakers?

Digital audio input via mini jack/toslink from ADA converter, monitored via USB audio output to amplifier... is this do-able? I know digital audio input should be okay but how do I monitor it, apart from using the internal speakers?

You can output audio thru HDMI, with appropriate adapter.
You can use additional cheap external usb audio for monitoring.

  • Can MacBook Pro output digital audio via usb?

I'd like to output digital audio via usb. Can it be done from iTunes? This would allow me to go directly to my dac and then to my preamp.
    Thanks.

Russell, there are quite a variety of devices that accept digital audio over USB from any mac with a USB port - see http://www.trendsaudio.com/EN/Product/USBAudiodesc.htm for one example.
Try a google on MAC USB Audio OUTPUT any you should pop up some useful options.

  • Digital Audio output for W series - Alternatives

There's a thread talking about the displayport does not have audio-output.  Its true and some people get victimized by ill-trained sales people who think their displayport is standard.  There's no literature on Lenovo website warning users about the audio issue either - such thread is closed with the fact that (some) other manufacturers in the same period does have have audio either and Lenovo think they should be in the same boat.
Let's not go into the blamish again, but discuss what we can do with existing options with alternative digital audio out and line-in that the W series really really missed.
We have (1) mini-dock and (2) USB soundcard listed as options
I currently use a USB DAC (digital to analog) system and it do really good in terms of stereo music enjoyment.  However my particular system does not have digital manupilated sound like 3-D surround or multi-channel output and not suprisely, laptop USB generally produce greater latency than desktop USB ports.
Besides USB, we have 1394 and express card 34 as expansion options.
What's your setup for digital audio out?  Anyone know any internal soundcard that fits the slots of Wireless USB/Turbo memory PCI ports that all W-series have?

    Other alternatives include
I know on mackbooks I've seen firewire used as an input for a Weiss Dac if you're into two channel audio.  Do any reiceivers take firewire as an input for hometheater?  Has anyone tested Firewire outputs on their W series?  I'm told that firewire is sometimes preferable to USB, I'm not sure why this would be, can USB support passthrough of DTS encoded signals?
In the case that firewire works and you Do not have a firewire source, maybe something like this would be of value  It converts firewire to digital coaxial s/pdif and allows passthrough of DTS and AC3.
    http://www.m-audio.com/images/global/manuals/FireWire-Audiophile_Manual.pdf
As I'm into audio the critical thing here (and what you're paying for when you purchase blue-ray, is maintaining the digital information from the disk in an unconverted form.  You want a direct bit pass through, and you want as little jitter introduced to the signal as possible.  You most certainly don't want the sound card getting in the way, Digtital to Analog converting and then reverse packaging it up and putting it out over the soundcard digital out.  My problem is I'm not familiar enough with computer audio to know how exactly the sounds is transmitted from your blue ray drive to the digital interface you've chosen.
Anyone know why USB digital out would not be a prefered method?

  • Boot Camp Windows 7 do not recognise wifi, ethernet, USB ports and has a scary red light in audio jack output!

    Hi!
I have just tried to install Windows 7 x86 version on my MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion and a couple of strange things start appearing:
        1. On the Boot Camp Assistant first screen, I tried to download the drivers and after about 15min the system responding that the server did not responded.
        2. I went further and installed the Win7 without making the ISO as requested by the assistant and with no driver burned on a CD
        3. After installed the Win7 I noticed that it did not recognise the WIFI in my home nor any other in the area;
        4. There is a freaking RED LIGHT coming from my Audio jack output that I have never seen in my life... and that scares me!
        5. The USB ports does not works on Win7 side !
        6. The ethernet does not work, Win7 just don´t recognise it...
        7. There is no Boot Camp on Win7 side to be deployed...
Basically I will use Windows to run Quicken for Windows, but I can´t acces my backups on Dropbox because I do not have intercet access, and obviously I am not going to be able to back up new files.
Is there someone able to help me?
    I have:Boot Camp 5.0.0 / Win7 Ultimate x86 / MacBook 2,5Ghz Intel Core i5 MID-2012 / Memories 4GB amd 500GB/ OS X 10.8.1 / Boot Camp partition with 50Gb for Windows.
    I appreciate all help!

Did you make sure to install the Bootcamp utilities after installing Windows? They can be found in the boot disk/usb flash that Bootcamp creates (check for a folder called "Windows Support").These should enable sound/video/trackpad/etc.to work with full functionaliity under Windows (you may need to reboot after doing so). After installing them, you may also want to run Windows Update to make sure you get the latest drivers.
As far as the red light, many models of Macbook Pros are equipped with a digital Audio out. You can either use the standard analog 3.5mm Stereo jack (standard headphone connector), a 3.5mm miniSPDIF digital coax or miniTOSLINK digital optical cable (hence the red light). Windows may not know how to handle to audio out port until the proper drivers are installed and it may be enabling the digital signal by default. Installing the drivers mentioned above should set this back to normal operation.
    hope this helps.
    Toodles!

  • I want to find the digital audio output on my Pavilion vd6853ea notebook

I have spent far too long trying to find where this output is located.
I have a very good Hifi and at the moment am using a USB cable to connect to my DAC.
It looks like there is a realtec digital output somewhere on the notebook as it show up when I go into the playback devices and it tests ok visually.
The 3.5 jack plug is just analog and not a hybrid spdif.
    Where is it????????
Please help as I am getting really fed up now!

Thank you so much for the fast reply.
I thought that may have to be the case.
Can I please ask you a few other questions?
If I want to get a digital audio output not using a HDMI (My DAC doesn't have this input), can I get a good result with something like a Musical Fidelity V link USB to S/Pdif converter or a M2Tech Hiface digital audio interface? Sorry,  I cannot make a recommendation on either of those products as I am not familiar with them.
Is it possible to change the sound card with an optical or coaxial output? Your notebook's sound is an integrated solution. It is a chip soldered (integrated) onto the system board. It can't be updated.
Thanks again for the kind help!

  • Xbox digital audio input and then output through MacBook digital audio port

    Hi,
Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm trying to output a Dolby Digital (I think AC3) signal from my Xbox 360 into the MacBook's digital audio input and then output it through the digital audio output. I can output 5.1 sound from the MacBook itself but I can't get the Xbox audio to pass through. I don't know if the audio is at a sample rate not supported or needs decoding or what!
    Any help would be appreciated!

If that doesn't work, I'm not quite sure.
A combination of the Audio MIDI Utility (in Applications/Utilities), SoundSource, LineIn, and Soundflower (http://cycling74.com/products/soundflower/) might work, otherwise I'm stumped. Your best bet is probably a dedicated external USB or FireWire audio interface.

  • Digital audio output on W500

I have been searching and reading for the answer on how to get digital audio out of my Thinkpad W500, but could not find anything rather than complaints that DisplayPort does not carry out audion signal. Is there any proven option to get W500 output HD video along with digital audio? I understand that Display port is not an option. How about ExpressCard slots, FireWire, USB?
Or can I buy HDMI compatible graphic cars to replace built-in FireGL? If so, then what card will work with W500?
    Any help is much appreciated...

    Thank you for your reply!
After better look, I think that my graphic card is on-board and can't be replaced. If it's true, it leaves me with option #1.
However couple more things to be clear:
I have docking station, which doesn't seem to have any usable outputs. Is advanced mini-dock something that has DVI and SPDIF outputs? And if this is true, should I leave DisplayPort unused? Can you please point me to model of advance mini-docking station and converter box?
My laptop model is Thinkpad W500 type 4062-27U.
    Thank you for your help!

  • Audio No Longer Working on USB Output

    Hi,
I've been using Audirvana, Bit Perfect, and other music software applications with iTunes.
Last night I unhooked the power cord and the music stopped playing.  I've tried everything and anything to fix this but I am no longer getting audio out from my USB port (I've tried both ports).
When I go into Audo MIDI Setup I see my bridge (Musical Fidelity USB -> SPDIF Converter) as always.  However, when I select it and "Use This Device for Sound Output" nothing happens and it doesn't change (it stays on either Airplay or Built-in Output).
In addition, I am unable to change anything on the USB Output (Master Volume, Analog 1, Analog 2...the only thing I an do is 'mute' which I don't want to do).
When I look at my Musical Fidelity Bridge and DAC it *appears* that they are getting signals - they both say 'Locked' when a signal is present.
I wonder if it's because the volume on my USB output is so low and I can't change it?  See picture.
Please help!  The only reason I have this MacBook Pro is to play music through my system.

Open the Speech pane of System Preferences and check whether either the listening key or the speech key has become set to that keystroke; if so, change the setting.
