IPad Disabled bad passcode

I have an iPad 3 with iOS7 (not sure if 7.02 or not)
When I first got the notification that iOS7 was available I installed it. I was sick in bed at the time and I barely remember doing the install. I remember it talking about a passcode and I thought I remembered using a four digit number that is very familiar to me. It was several days later that I was well enough for me to pick up my iPad and low in behold when I put in my passcode (the one that I thought I had used) the iOS said it was the wrong one. Not realizing that after 6 attempts or whatever, my iPad is now disabled completely. It is a long story of several surgeries since I first got the ipad and I have never backed it up, synced it or even could have hooked it up to a computer. I am to the point of wanting to restore to erase the device completely. I tried the Remote Wipe and "Find My Phone" said "All devices are offline".I tried going thru hooking iPad up to my laptop and doing a restore wipe it clean and that did not work for me either.  I am at my wits-end at this point and would deeply appreciate any help I can get as I need my iPad while I am still in bed most of the time.

Put it in recovery mode then restore.
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

I clicked on an upgrade box on my ipad and when the upgrade was done my ipad wanted my passcode to open it back up.  I have not had to use a passcode to open up my ipad since I set it up and cannot remember the passcode.  Every time I try a passcode it disables for longer and longer.  It is now disabling for an hour at a time.

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

  • HT4113 is there anyway to enter passcode after it says ipad disabled?  I don't want to restore it.

My daughter entered the wrong passcode on the ipad and now it is disabled.  Is there anyway to enter passcode now even after ipad says  "ipad disabled."  I don't want to restore it and lose everything.

You can restore from your backup on your computer or iCloud.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.
    Try using Recovery Mode

  • HT1212 If I do the restore for my iPad because the passcode is disabled, will i lose all of my pics?  If so, isthere any way not to lose pics?

If I disable the passcode by accident, can I restore the iPad and not lose my pictures?

If you haven't backed it up, neither to your computer's iTunes nor to iCloud, then unfortunately you won't have a copy of the photos to restore back.
For anything that you've downloaded from iTunes, then you may be able to re-download/some of them via the Purchased tabs in the App Store and iTunes store apps.

my ipad is stuck in "ipad disabled" mode.  how do i fix this??

If it's showing the disabled screen due to too many incorrect passcode attempts then you will need to connect it to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode in order to be able to reset it : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If you do it via a different computer then :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

  • Cant install itunes and ipad disabled

I couldnt open itunes on laptop so uninstalled and tried to reinstall it but didnt work all i get is that it didnt install correctly error 7 windows error 193. Also sons ipad disabled due to him forgetting passcode is there any way to reset it without itunes

    Hi tracyipad115,
You will have to use iTunes to restore your son’s iPad to get passed the passcode issue. Now you have two options to get you where you want to be. The first is using another computer if you have access to one. The other would be taking a look at the article below to walk you through some troubleshooting option to get iTunes to install properly. Let me know if this helps or need further assistance.

  • Is there a way to disable the passcode function?

hello, I work at a school, in the IT department. one of my jobs is to manage all the ipads.
I have a lot of ipads that students use. some students like to make a passcode and lock me out.
is there any way to disable the passcode function?
    thanks,

No, but what you can do is use the free MDMs at http://www.simplemdm.com/ or http://www.meraki.com/products/systems-manager/ , enroll your devices, and clear passcodes set by students with the click of a mouse.

  • IPad Disabled from Kids...Not showing amount of time remaining

So, I usually use a passcode to prevent my kids from having unauthorized access to my iPad.
In the past, if they entered the wrong code, it would say, "iPad disabled for 1 minute" or whatever...and
that time would go up each time they entered a wrong code up until I think 15 minutes.
Well, now it doesn't show a time... it just says "iPad is disabled" and it isn't giving me an opportunity
to enter my passcode (which I know).
