IPad display showing dull/shadowy spots on one edge

Seemingly out-of-the-blue, my iPad showed equally-space shadow spots on one edge of the display.
Additionally, a slight twist/torque of the device brightens and darkens the screen and its shadow-points/spots. Totally odd.

Might this be the backlight coming near EOL? Or perhaps the result of someone inadvertently dropping the iPad (with no 'confession' yet ), causing a slight 'break' in the electrical trace?
It is an iPad 2, from about 3 years ago. I don't have it in my hands now, as its at home, but it was acquired brand new from an apple store, not used, not refurbished. It's a 16GB unit, wifi and cellular, and is up to date with iOS as of this week.
Curious if this is something that can be repaired. We'll be getting a new iPad in the near future, but hoped to keep this one as a second unit for reading books at the least.

If those are what I think they are, they are light leaks around the edges of the display.
You might want to walk it into the nearest Apple Store and ask staff there for an opinion...may not be something you have to tolerate

My iPad IOS software is 8.2 and my Apple TV software is at 7.1. The TV displays the Apple Menu. The “Settings” does however displays the General menu allowing me to see:
Apple software: 7.1 (7003)
Apple TV: Model No. A1464, Part No. MD199B/A
Signal Strength shows 5 circles.
It does not display the iPad screen but when I use the BT Sport App I can hear the sound but there is no video. I have searched the internet for a solution to no avail. The problem first arose when the IOS was at 8.1+ but it worked correctly briefly when I updated to IOS 8.2. Can you help please?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Restart your mobile device.

Have you copied your content over from your old computer and onto the new on ? If not, and you still have your old computer, then there a number of methods described on this page which you can use to copy your library over : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 . If you no longer have your old computer then have you got a backup of your content that you can copy onto the new computer and add into iTunes ?

I have had your exact problem with my old 3GS, now I cannot even get it to turn on, I still see that it is supposed to be charging though, but it never charges any so it seems.
I replaced the Lower Dock Connector Assembly back when it still charged while hooked to my PC, and it found it made no real difference.

My son let one of his friends use his ipad. The next time he tired to use it he could not get it unlocked, I tired to unlock it but it kept telling me that I had the wrong pass code. With out me knowing my son continued to tire until it completely disabled it self.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

IPad wont show .jpg images correctly

My new iPad wont show .jpg images correctly. They all get a yellow/blue filter almost like a negative photo. This is in Safari, Maps,Youtube and every App using .jpg images. Gifs, and png, viewing video etc is fine. Also the home screen background/wallpaper gets this problem.
BUT saved .jpgs from Safari strangely enough look fine in Photos. (Thumbnails stil look bad though.)
I thought it had to be a software issue, but reseting my device with newest OS (3.2) is not helping.
Any others with the same problem?

Thanks for your reply. I have not created any JPGs, or transfered them to the iPad. I just surf with Safari and all .jpg's are getting this strange colors. When starting Maps the satellite mode gets wrong colors. The background on the home screen are the ones that came with the iPad. Strange thing is that when restoring it with software reset, the background is ok. When choosing a new (even choosing the same one) they get wrong colors when going to the home screen. (They all look good when choosing)
It looks like the iPad is not doing the final steps on rendering the images. (And also have a short blink when being displayed) However as I said, all images look good when viewing fullscreen in the Photos App. Even the ones saved from Safari which looked bad in Safari.

Ipad not showing some jpeg files

My i pad is not showing some of jpeg files received on mail as attachment, these are being displayed completely blacked out , i have also tried saving them on ipad and then tried opening them with other apps also but same result !!!!??? However the same files are properly displayed when i see them on pc or on my blackberry .... Can somebody help me find out what is the issue and how can it be resolved??

Probably because all of the Music wasn't selected to sync from iTunes. When the iPad is connect to iTunes on your computer, you can select Sync Entire Library in the Music Tab of iTunes if you want all of your music on the iPad.

IPad display kiosk hardware

I am looking for an iPad display kiosk hardware.. a desk stand with a lock or ability to hide on/off button.
There are a few available via a Google search but does anyone here have one they specifically recommend? Thanks.

I have been doing some work with the Launchpad , a very neat iPad 'micro kiosk'. Deployments through restaurants, retail sites and trade shows all work well. You can check out examples here.
It comes with an app called PadLock which gives you all the content and access controls you want.
I find the 'white list' functionality very useful.
And with regards to security etc, take a look at one of the designers testing the wall unit version.
(Note: My clients are very happy with both the desktop and floor standing units. They use them primarily for product demonstrations and customer data collection.)

My 23" HD display shows pink glitch lines or complete pink intermittently

This morning, for the first time, I noticed intermittent pink, glitch lines on my 23-inch HD display, and then a little while later, complete pink screens, again intermittently. During the day the problem seemed to have gone away. But then tonight it's back, sometimes in a sustained manner, all pink. I checked the obvious such as cables. I looked for previous reports of the same problem but didn't see anything exactly like mine. Found lots of other pink issues, going back a while. Worrisome.
I'm having flashbacks of just about the same sort of problem happening to my Macintosh Performa! A CRT display! 12 years ago! Almost in a similar fashion, even, seemingly exacerbated by bright, white things to display. An internal cable problem, I seem to recall.
My limited 1-year warranty ran out... about one month ago... Needless to say, I'm disappointed to see this happening so quickly. Even my PowerBook G4/12-inch and its dull display and dead pixel from day-one have been more reliable. Didn't even get to watch a whole lot of HD content, as I'm still waiting for a Blu-Ray Mac to come out. Thus I'm preparing myself for this to cost me. Hopefully not too dearly. I just acquired a Time Capsule and I have to replace my old AirPort Express for being incompatible with my upgraded wireless network. Ouch.
Am I missing something simple for how to fix this problem myself or can I start planning my trip to the store?

You seem to be sure the display is at fault. After 4 days of testing by an authorized service provider (and an 85$ diagnostic fee, which I just found out today the Apple Store does not charge, duh), the problem CAN be reproduced when my Mac mini and 23" HD display are used together, BUT NOT when each is tested separately with another mini and monitor (admittedly not a 23" HD), in order to isolate the problem to one or the other. How does anyone decide then how to proceed, what to keep, and what to fix or buy new again?
I know I posted to the All Apple Cinema Display forum. I did so because my display is showing evidence of a problem, but where this problem lies, with the display, the cabling, or the Mac mini is still a mystery. Apple Support suggests I go to the Apple Store, but how long do I have to go without my computer and display until the problem can be isolated? How long will they test it anyway if the problem never shows up?
I'm almost wishing the problem is with my Mac mini. Maybe I should post on that forum. I'm beginning to wonder whether the graphics GPU is simply failing at driving my 23 HD display. Anyone? Please.

Remember, any purchased item from the itunes store is forever associated with the Apple ID used to buy it. So when you get prompted for an ID/password and it doesn't accept it, then you are using the wrong ID.
Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores, be sure it's logged into the ID you have set on the iphone (since that one seems to be connecting with the right ID). If you've done this, then you might wait a bit to see if the "cannot connect to .. store" message has to do with internet connections.

How do i get it to display the correct internal usage now that photo stream is off? I also thought that icloud used another form of storage outside of the internal storage for photos, so im not exactly sure why the photos were ever in my internal storage to begin with. Does anyone know how that happens, or how to correct this problem? Im also trying to sync my ipad with my computer hoping that'll help, but nothing so far, its just taking a long time to back up.

If you are syncing now, that may correct the incorrect storage reading - assuming that it is incorrect.
You can also try something like this. While the iPad is still connected to iTunes - but after you sync - go into the Photos Tab in iTunes and toggle setting for Sync Photos From. Uncheck the setting and then check it again. See if that affects the capacity bar to show the correct storage amount.
