IPad Dock

Just got my dock and I may be crazy, but I plugged my headphones into the dock and the volume on the iPad seems to be disabled!?

I noticed the same thing. As soon as an audio cable is plugged into the dock, the volume slider goes away. I guess the device is sending a moderate level signal, and you should adjust volume on the listening device. If you want to use headphones I guess you need to use the headphone jack.
I'm having an issue i'll post in another thread, where I get NO AUDIO when I plug in the VGA adapter. The audio ONLY comes out of the built in speaker.

  • Does apple make a iPad dock, for the new iPads (lightening) ? Thx

does apple make a iPad dock, for the new iPads (lightening) ?
have looked 'everywhere' found some options but not an apple design (i.e. doesnt match my other apple docking stations). Any assistance would be appreviated. Thank you.

Whatever Apple makes can be found in your online Apple Store.

  • No sound after using Jensen iPad Dock

I used my new Jensen iPad dock with my iPhone 4S. After unplugging the iPhone it would no longer play music or allow text sounds when not connected to another device or though headphones. The volume control buttons on the side do not work properly, and the volume bar has completely disappeared from the music application. Also, when connected to a bluetooth device the options to choose music playback from the bluetooth device and iPhone speakers has changed. Instead if iPhone speakers it now says "Dock Connector". I know the iPad dock is the problem, but what is the solution?

had this a number of times to me even after using the charger it is dust or dirt in the charger plug of your phine or even in the earjack. depending on which you were using recently, use a photographes brush or i use an air ball for blowing the dust out do not blow in with your mouth the moisture corrodes things.
Essentially the dust gets pushed in there and the connectors think they are still connected, when using a dock especially if it hasnt been used for a while wipe the contact jack clean before using.

  • Why doesn't the camera kit I bought fit into my iPad dock?

Why doesn't the camera kit I bought fit into my iPad dock?

Maybe you purchased the wrong item.
iPads that have the 25 pin connector use the original Camera Connection Kit. That kit has two parts and adapter to allow you to insert SD cards and a second adapter to connect a USB cord from your camera. Here's a link to that kit:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC531ZM/A/apple-ipad-camera-connection-kit?fno de=3a
Newer iPads have the Lightning connector. You have two choices for those iPads. If you want to read SD card purchase a Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader.

Or you can connect your iPad directly to your camera with a Lightning to USB Camera Adapter.

  • Audio line out port (Apple iPad Dock Connector) not working Iphone 4 os 4.2

For my new iphone4, the audio line out port (Apple iPad Dock Connector)is not working. Both using a cable to mini jack (3,5 mm) or in dockingstation.
    I'm using OS 4.2.
    IS this a bug?
    Thanks
    Hans

I just came back from the Apple store.  My iPhone4 DOES have a working line out when plugged into a Apple name brand dock connector.   I don't know why my SendStation refuses to work only with the iPhone4 yet works with iPods, etc..
Solution? I'm buying an Apple iPod dock connector for home and will try to find something with line out for the car - Apple says they do not make one.

No, it won't fit in the older dock either. You'll have to remove the Smart Cover to use either dock.

  • Is there a reason the arrow keys don't work with ipad dock

Is there a reason that the arrow keys appear not to work with the ipad dock? I can understand if the citrix app needs an update (would be great to use with excel) but it also doesn't work with numbers the mac app. Is there a reason they are on the keyboard if they are not for use? Safari they don't do scrolling but really wanted it for use with spreadsheets. Can anyone tell me if I just need to switch on something in settings?

    Hello there,
Not as such it is the iPad dock. It would be very handy for spread sheets.

  • Play music while charge using Apple iPad Dock

I connected the Apple iPad Dock to my Bose SoundDock through the dock's line out and it only plays music if the charger is not connected to the dock. when i connect the charger to the dock the music stops and start being played on iPad. is it right or my dock is damaged?
    thx in advance.

Press the Music In ... to the left of "Albums" at the bottom of the Remote App and select a different library to show in the app. That seems to do it.

  • IPad dock connector to VGA - opinions ?

I'm considering the purchase of a dock-to-vga adapter for my iPad. I have Netflix streaming capability and would like to view films on my Toshiba 42" TV. I've read numerous posts were persons who bought were disappointed in the output capabilities. I know the latest NetFlix version does support output re-direction.
My concern is the quality of the re-directed output. Since Netflix detects the display type would it see the native iPad display or the re-directed TV ? I know that $30 is not a lot to spend but question how well the output will look.
Thanks in advance for any help/opinions.

I think the VGA adapter does a pretty good job. Netflix looks good on my 42 inch TV. You will need a separate audio cable to get sound to the TV. I used headphone to red/white RCA plugs for mine.

  • Question about leaving iPad & Dock plugged in

I picked up an iPad 16G (original, not new release) and also ordered a keyboard dock and extension cord charger for it. This is for my parents who are 82 & 83 respectively. They've been on an Email station, no longer supported, and looking for a replacement without going full blown computer.
I know that once this is set up, they will want to leave it plugged in for sake of ease, and probably easiest for me too (I'm 2-1/2 hours away with a mountain pass between us).
Are there any concerns with leaving the iPad connected to the keyboard Dock and having that all plugged into a wall outlet long term? I know it may well reduce battery life, etc., and I'm not concerned about that, however, I know some of the earlier laptops had issues with potential fire hazards related to long-term battery charging.
Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.
    MRJ

Other than inherent electrical hazards that any device plugged into AC power involves, the iPad and dock should not have problems remaining plugged in.
I would recommend using only Apple original equipment, as aftermarket cables and chargers have varying levels of quality. I have had good luck with the six-foot charger that Apple makes and sells on apple.com and in their stores.
Congratulations to you for helping them find such an elegant solution. My 93 year-old Grandmother has used my iPad. My two year-old uses it daily, as well.

  • IPad dock mutes sounds?

Each time I put my iPad on a basic dock you can buy anywhere, the sounds are muted and the volume becomes uncontrollable. That is very annoying because alarm clock app does nothing, I can't listen to music without headphones, which I don't need.

I still don't understand why are there no answers for 4 days. No, I don't have a music dock, I have a classic Apple dock. If it is supposed to be a feature - this feature *****.

  • Can I use my ipad dock connector for an iphone 4s

I'm upgrading to an iPhone 4S and don't want to spend $30 unnecessarily on a dock connector.

    Yes, you can.

  • Can I use my iPad dock with 3rd gen iPad?

I already have an iPad 2 dock. Can I use this for my 3rd gen iPad?

    Hi Capp 543:
I don't really use it any more live, mainly because I use my iPad for reading music and don't want to switch around apps. I'm not part of the company, but I'll try.
IMO the iRig manual is way way too simplistic.
I am attaching some jpeg's of what helped me solve it, though it was tough. If it doesn't open, search Audio Midi Setup help for "sharing midi data over a network". You have to create a wireless session using Audio/Midi setup, OR create an "ad hoc" network using bluetooth if there's no wi-fi (another set of problems...). This may be your issue. There are a few things beyond getting the wireless network appearing that you have to do, that's why I'm suggesting this even though you did it, or a part of it.
    In particular:
"Anyone" has to be set as who can connect to me in the lower left of the wireless midi setup screen, and
First get everything else ready, meaning the iPad connecting, THEN LiveRig has to be launched from closed, meaning do an icon hold and close in down iPad, then open it up for it to connect, when everything else is ready. for some reason that helped me.
In MainStage, you of course need to go to the MainStage #1 Setup screen, drag in sliders, then "learn" them to the LiveRig, which should now be seen when you click "learn" and move a Liverig slider. I have a vague recollection about not seeing iRig in the MainStage #1 top left device window, but then   going into the drop-down menu there where the device shoudl be, selecting it, then learning the sliders. Then in the #2 Edit window you assign the sliders etc.
I would suggest first connecting it via midi wires and getting it to work, which will help you decide if a problem is in the wi-fi or somewhere else when you go to connect it up with wi-fi. You'd need the Apple Camera Connection kit adaptor. I myself would alway run it via midi if I'm playing live, too many unknowns with unknown networks.
    Hope that helps.
    Neil
