Ipad doesn't start or shut down.

From one second to another my new iPad2 (1 months old) doesn't  start or shut down anymore. The only visible activity is a small round circle on the screen. When connected, my PV recognizes the device, on the pad itself, however nothing seems to change. I even tried to reset my iPad and the corresponding synchrosations with iTunes seemed to work. Hoewever, after unplugging it from the PC, everything is as it was before - just the circle on the screen and from time to time a beep tone. It goes without saying that i didn't make any changes on the set up of the device. Any advice would be highly appreciated.

In case your battery is just low, connect the iPad to its wall charger for at least half an hour to be sure there is enough juice to get started.
Did you try connecting the iPad to your computer, running iTunes and clicking on Restore?
If you did and it didn't make any difference, you may have a defective iPad.  If you show it to an Apple Store Genius, you may get a new one on the spot.
If it is not convenient to go to an Apple Store, search for a Apple Authorized Repair Station near you.  There may be one in your city.  Your iPad appears to be under warranty, so they should either repair or replace it.

  • I am so frustrated I could spit.. I have been experiencing issues for 1 week now and am unable to use my iphone. It started by shutting down every time I'd try to use it and now it won't turn on. When I plugged it in the charger apple flashes .

i have been unable to use my iphone for going on a week. It started by shutting down when ever I'd try to use it. Now it has just a dead black screen. If i plug it in it doesn't charge And the flashing apple continues every 2seconds never charging or turning on. I'm frustrated because I can't even get in to troubleshoot. I bought an iphone cuz I thought it was the best phone at the time. My contract isn't up til Aug. and I'm stuck with a bill and no phone. I do not own a computer but I have an ipad4 which I love. HELP!

Make an appointment at the genius bar are your nearest Apple store. At this point there is nothing you can do without a computer, so if you don't have one and don't know anyone who has one that you can use the Apple store is a good fallback.

  • Solved Vista Home Premium Start up / shut down loop

Ta Da    The  C:\windows\winsxs      ETC.       that was my solution  found it on this site and other sites and decided to try it:
It was actually the 3rd choice of solutions on that particular page  and  I could not complete the solution as directed because the files I was supposed to delete were not there, funnily enough that is why I chose that solution as I really did not believe it was an update error but may provide me with a    "Look Inside" .  So I followed along and it would not let me delete the file as instructed but it let me rename it   I did rename 1 file and rebooted. Everything proceeded as normal but it actually finished loading the NVidia driver for onboard graphics  ( which was where it was crashing ) and that was it.
I still dont know for sure why it would not load the driver and  I never did get any blue screens or failed update messages or error codes. On the upside I now have a working repair disk that I didnt have before, and created a backup that I didnt do before
I have an HP Pavilion  m 7580n   ( Media Center) that is locked in a start up shut down loop.
It starts normally and runs up normally until the desktop flashes on the screen for about 3 seconds. At this point It is still loading things like the Internet connection , Icon indicates connected, nvidia control panel icon. It never gets any further than that.....?
if I am  fast enough to dbl click an icon it will load whatever the icon represents but will immediately flash to the "Shutting down" screen. It then shuts down and auto starts the loop again.
I have  also tried   ctrl / alt / del   and I get there but it crashes instantly.
The machine is now running   Vista Home Premium.  Upgraded from XP by an online download so I have no OEM disk.
I dont know if it is 32 or 64 bit I would guess 32 as it was an XP upgrade
What I have tried so far
I have ruled out ANY Hardware problems by swapping hard drives and loading a different OS.   Win 7 on it and everything works fine for hours.  Benchmarks, stress tests, temp tests, games, mem tests
I have made a vista repair disk and tried all of the "Non Destructive" options  available.
I have tried every safe mode option.
I have hooked the problem hard drive to another computer and accessed it that way, and ran virus scanners
and clean and repair programs. No Bad sectors, clusters, nothing bad
I have removed all "Junk" and files I can replace
I have striped all unnecessary hardware. swapped RAM, Vid Cards  ETC.
I have tried all of the above both connected and not connected to the Internet and everything many times and many differant combinations.
Nothing has made any difference at all
A little history of the machine.
It was bought second hand with the Vista Installed and came with a paper  sticker with a hologram
and a Key That was apparently mailed after the online update ?
It was activated and displayed windows genuine logo in System Folder
It received updates automatically and by request no problems.
I mention this only because I cannot be absolute certain it is a legal copy and was wondering if this is some sort of disabling of pirated software or an expired demo?
It was used in a cottage  where it could possibly of had a power failure during an auto update. I mention this as some update problems resemble my problem. I have shied away from trying those fixes as they involve elevated commands and such and my knowledge in that area is very limited. and I dont have any of the stages loading screens
It would be easy for me to format and reload an OS But the files I want are protected and I cant access them from another computer.
I havent Listed any Hardware as I am satisfied it is not a hardware issue  However it is the  AMD X 2 64 version
Any Non hardware related suggestions would be appreciated as I am certain this hardware all works
I get no BSOD's no errors.
     Thanks for reading my lament

Do this, and while it is in the open re-examine your cpu pins w/ a bight light and hd zoom or a magnifying glass.
Thanks, xmad, I'll look at th CPU again tomorrow/next day under the glass when I take the board out.  I already checked them under magnification and was leaning toward a funky board, but it never hurts to re-check.  Eyesight is not what it used to be, for sure (I miss DOS, if that's a clue...).  Don't want to flash the BIOS if not necessary, since it runs Windows fine and everything works except that RAM.
Bernhard, I don't have CPU-Z installed on that machine and don't want to install anything else until it's working normally.  I'd never seen Click-Bios before and just need to get over my initial suspicion of something new!  Also learn my way around it before I change anything.  I'd never encountered a board reporting a bios different than printed on it.  I've never messed with manual memory settings or done more overclocking than just a little exploratory and suprisingly successful nudge - if you could point me toward a  good basic explaination of all those settings, I could learn from there.
    Appreciate your input very much.
Have learned a lot just reading the threads here for the last few days.  This is the best forum I've ever encountered.  I'll report back - some suggestions in other posts resembling my problem ended with no resolution, and that's a shame because one doesn't know if it worked or not.

  • Satellite P10 - start up/shut down are not working

I hope someone can help me. My Satellite P10 is having problems starting and shutting down.
When it starts up, it goes to a black screen with white wording, asking if I want to start windows normally, or in safe mode etc - it won't let me start it normally so I choose the option 'last good start up files' (or similar wording).
The pc then carries on starting up. I did a system restore but it's made no difference. Once it's started up, it's a lottery whether it's going to be ok, or whether it's in the process of crashing.
To shut down, I've got to push the off button, there's no other way it will shut down.
I've run avg, spybot, lavasoft adaware, xsoftspy, registry mechanic, spywareblaster etc but there doesn't seem to be anything 'wrong'.
The only thing I've installed recently is the new avg 7.5 and legacy family tree software - I downloaded both programmes from the manufacturers sites. Avg is free, although I might just have visited a crack site for the code for legacy :)
I would really appreciate it if anyone is kind enough to give me some advice :)

    Hi Joao
I have had a bit of luck so far - I downloaded a little executable which checks for trojans - I had been infected by ntrootkit. I managed to get rid of it (switch off system restore, run security software, edit registry & reboot) which has in turn sorted out the start up and shut down problems.
However, I'm still getting problems - when I start up, it's in the lap of the Gods whether I need to reboot before I can open my broadband software.
Also, when it's playing up like that, I get a 'beep' when I try to stop processes through task manager. I've got a horrible feeling that it's the motherboard. Once I've rebooted, it's fine again.
This is driving me nuts... if anyone has any ideas on this latest development, I'd be grateful!!

    Best.

  • HT4211 In the new iPad update how do I shut down apps running in the background to preserve battery life?

Now that I downloaded the new iPad update, how do I shut down apps running in the background to preserve battery life?

in iOS 7, double click the Home Button (the round one on the front).
You will see icons for all open apps with a 'screenshot' above each icon. Simply drag any 'screenshot' upwards using 1 finger to close the app.
Most apps don't use much power when inactive but some do including Sat Nav apps

My MacBook Pro starts then shuts down on its own 4 seconds later. An idea on what I should do? Thanks!

Is the little LED on your adapter's MagSafe plug glowing when it's connected? What color?
It sounds as though your battery is drained and the adapter isn't charging it. Try resetting the SMC:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
That may start the battery charging again.

  • MacBook is starting to shut down after 5 minutes.

My MacBook has just started to shut down after 5-10 minutes. The computer still holds a charge, and the battery Percentage says that it's full, so I dont know what's going on.

If it's under AppleCare take it in immediately.
It is possible that a fan might not be working, and causing it to overheat & shutdown as a safety measure.
The other reason could be RAM.
    But that's just my guess.

  • Purchased the Sony Tablet in June 2012, started to shut down during regular use (blank screen, swirl

I am a long time Sony customer… mostly TVs and other entertainment items.
Purchased the Sony Tablet in June 2012, started to shut down during regular use (blank screen, swirly lights comes on, and soft reset required) in September 2012.
December 2012, issue started to take place more frequent (to the point it was too annoying).
Sent the tablet in for repair before X-Mas and just got it back from the TX repair center yesterday (1/14/13).
    They replaced the motherboard.
1/15/13, 11:49AM, the same issue happened.
I am asked to mail it in again, so they can fix the issue.
I like Sony products, but this is something new for me.
I like to know if this is common for the tablet, please share story.
    My concerns are:
They replaced the motherboard (that is pretty much the core of the tablet!)
What do I do when my warranty expires in June 2013 and the issue is still there?

I and many others have the same issue. You can an find some links to reported issues in my thread.
Sony has yet to acknowledge the issue and define whether it is software or hardware based. This lack of communication is very disheartening.

  • P7-1597c Commences Starting then Shuts Down

    OK this may take a bit; I will start computer with built in graphics running, it will work for a couple of cold starts then try to start and shut down. I will put in my graphics card GE640, the computer will start and work fine I can restart but if I do a cold start it will try to start and shut down; so I will revert back to built in graphics; then install GE630 Graphics Card, computer will start, run fine and same symptom on cold start and the cycle continues. The following are some important additions I have made;
    Added SATA Hard Drive
    Added 750W Power Supply
Added 8GB Ram (I have 64 bit system)
Using HP 27" Backlit LED Monitor & ACER 24" Monitor
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Why does starting and shutting down iTunes on my Mac stop movie from playing?

Every time I start or shut down iTunes on my Mac, the movie I'm watching on my Apple TV stops playing and goes back to the menu.  It also loses the spot in the movie, so I have to fast forward to my spot.  Extremely annoying.  EVERY TIME.

Unless it is actually associated with something not working, it isn't a problem. I've always seen it on my machine, which works perfectly and has done so for 2.5 years now.

  • Z77A-G45 start up-shut down loop with more than 1 stick RAM

New Build, personal use and doing it myself:
    BOARD: MSI Z77A-G45
    BIOS:   *?* click-bios reports "E7752IMS V2.5", but "MS-7752 VER: 1.4" printed on board?
PSU:      Thermaltake 850-watt Black Widow 69A 12v rail
CPU:      Intel Core i7-3770K BX80667i73770K - Quad Core, 8MB L3 Cache, 3.50GHz, 77W, Unlocked, fan included, no extra cooler yet
    MEM:    Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B 2x4GB 1600 MHz, 9-9-9-24, PC3-12800, 1.5V
    HDD:    WD Blue WD10EALX 1TB, SATA 6Gbs, 7200RPM, 32MB Cache
CASE:  Thermaltake VN770M1W2N Overseer RX-I Full Tower
    OS:     Win7 Pro 64-bit
System bought as bundle including the 2x4GB Corsair RAM.  Assembly went well but took me a long time to make sure I had it all right.  Then, nothing happened at power-up, no lights or anything.  My first reaction was to replace the included Thermaltake power supply (700 watt 52A 12volt rail) - I disconnected all power to the unit and removed the original psu and, on a whim, I booted up with the original power supply outside the case and the lights came on with the psu laying on it's side!  Got the start-up and shut-down loop (lights up and spins all fans for a few seconds, then shuts down and repeats ad infinitum), which I was not expecting. Replaced the original power supply with the Black Widow (specs listed above) and got same shut-down loop.
Started checking the memory sticks one at a time in DIMM2, each produced that shut-down loop.  Also tried with two sticks of Patriot Viper 3 PVI316G160C9K 2x8GB 1600 MHz, 9-9-9-24, PC3-12800, 1.5V (which doesn't appear on MSI's compatible list...but I had it handy) Then, With the last 8GB Patriot stick in DIMM2, I finally let it go through that shut-down loop 5-6 times out of frustration, and then it suddenly powered up "normally"!
I took advantage and have smoothly installed Win7 Pro, and mobo drivers from CD, no glitches, USB working fine.  Then tested each stick - all 4 RAM sticks work individually in DIMM2, but the board will not accept a 2nd stick in 4 without that same shut-down loop (tried using either matched pairs).  Manual specifies using DIMM2 and 4 (which are the black ones) for dual channel.  Have also tried slots 1 and 3 (blue) with same shut-down loop results, no BSOD or error codes, not even any beeps.  Computer boots normally and runs Win7 just fine with one 8GB stick in DIMM2.  Also boots Windows and runs fine with one 4GB Corair chip in DIMM2.
Have done CMOS clears and also re-seated the cpu and heatsink/fan, and all pins and board connections looked OK.
Have some problem getting into the BIOS screen to look at things - seems to boot up so fast with a re-start that Delete key and F11 don't quite catch before Windows starts (8-year-old Logitech USB keyboard?).  Have to completely power down and start up to get into BIOS, but that doesn't always work either. System recognized the memory change to the Corsair stick, but the screen went by so quick I couldn't catch it to get into BIOS.
    Questions:
    1) I've searched this board and read for hours about similar shut-down loops problems, but either nothing seems to match my particular quandary or I don't know what to look for.  I don't understand what's happening with this shut-down loop - since all four sticks work individually in DIMM2, could DIMM4 slot be defective and I need to RMA the board?
    2) I have not yet removed the board and tried to start it outside the case - could a short be causing the 2nd slot to malfunction?  Standoffs are built into the case but they didn't seem too low, and the amount of standoffs matched the mobo mounting holes wiwth nothing else protruding.  It's a really solid board that did not bend when being attached. It's also possible to look down behind the board with the front cover off and see that nothing is touching it.  Will breadboard it next, since I have to take it out, anyway.
    3) Where exactly is the Bios version printed on the board?  Click Bios reports version as 2.5 but appears that 1.4 is marked on the board.  Have done no updates of any kind, only thing I did was disable the splash screen so I could see POST (like I could read that fast...!).  Do I need to contact MSI to find out what Bios version actually shipped with this board?  It's OK if I got an older board with updated BIOS, but it's confusing when something different appears to be printed on board.
Additional info:  Phase lights - LED is lit and all lights flashed at boot-up. CPU temp running for three hours idle is steady 37-38C, mainboard system temp 25C.  Went with a larger power supply because I intend to use Crossfire and more drives in the near future, but using onboard video for now.  System to be used for graphics/video processing with multiple programs running.
I'm currently working from an ASUS M3A78-CM board with AMD Phenom 9650 2.4 GHz.  I've never dealt with an MSI or an Intel system before, and the Click-Bios is something new to me.  Alas, I'm not an expert, but I've followed the basic steps I knew.  What did I do wrong, overlook or just plain don't know?  I sure would appreciate another opinion before I give up. I'm amazed at the speed of this motherboard/CPU combo - it's probably more than I need, but I'm intrigued to figure it out.
    Looking forward to those opinions,
    Jilliebob
