IPad eCommerce friendly shopping?

Question:
Just need some advice please.
We have had lots of people ask for an iPad friendly version of our site shop.
Like:

- where drop downs are bigger
- easier to enter in text without having to constantly enlarge screen etc
I'm just so confused where to ask / what to look for.
There is only one code for the online shop layout in BC so does that mean we just need to enter the HTML / setup for the iPad page in the mobile section of the default template?
Answer:
There are a few levels of a website in terms of mobile like a tablet.
1. Not at all: It has flash, not built to web standards, just does not work.
2. It fits into the ipad, everything works, it is usable and in terms of ecommerce you can go through the whole process.
3. You make steps to make certain aspects easier to use on mobile devices.
4. You create a site with a responsive design. It conforms to the screen/orientation it is under and appears differently with the same content.
5. A full separate entity using different templates/code (jquery mobile for example) using the same content for the most part but a true mobile only interface.
4 Will be very big this year.
3 Is probably what you are after.
If you enable the mobile templates feature of BC it will enable mobile templates for things. You do not need to worry about that just yet but what it does do is activate the platform tag.
desktop
If you put this in the body class it will output Mobile, Tablet or PC depending on the device. As a class on the body any child can be styled.
You can then work on making dropdowns, buttons or what ever slightly different for that device.
If you want to go further you can use the CSS media queries (google these if you need to learn about them) to do more too.

Apple discontinued the Personal Shopping program last fall, so it would seem unlikely that it will reappear now, and there are no indications that they will be taking reservations for the iPad. So if you want one on the 25th, it would appear that you'll just have to queue up. We'll have to wait until the 11th to know for certain, though (though programs offered in the US may not be available in Canada, so you may not know until the 25th).

SEO Friendly shopping cart

I am wanting to use a SEO friendly shopping cart that uses search engine automatically generated urls and meta descriptions. It has to be a dreamweaver extension. What are the options I know of webassist ecart and cartweaver. Anything else?

SEO for an online store is much the same as any web site. Make sure your content is well written both from a human and search engine's point of view. Your product names, categories, short and long descriptions should ALL be concise and to the point and contain key words an fraises that are most likely to be used when users are searching for your type of products and services.
For Cartweaver, one of the SEO features we built in is that the page titles and meta descriptions are populated based on the product name and short description respectively. For the product search results page they are populated by the categories searched on and the category description related to the category - you enter these in the admin. Doing this exposes a lot of good content to Google and the rest for each product returned. We also have a little utility that generates a Google friendly XML sitemap that you can point to in your Google Sitemaps account.
Out side of that, making your online store SEO is the same as any web site. Attention to details and good content writing are your primary toolls and assets!

Making iPad kid friendly with no "mature/ x-rated" content

The parent controls in iOS 7 are excellent!!! However, even when all the perntal controls are turned on, iOS 6 and iOS 7 allow "adult" content through! It is found in the YELP reviews and photos found on the Apple Maps app.
(Meaning: The Apple Map App can't be blocked or restricted with the parental controls. AND this Map App, incorporates the YELP reveiws and pictures. Those reviews and pictures contain "adult" content.)
If I can't remove or block the Map App and I can't remove or block YELP's material in the Map App. How can I keep my iPad kid friendly?
Very concerned and others share my concerns, too!

How to save contacts from ipad to friend's computer without meshing contacts together

i am updating a friend's ipad so she can get the new 5 software. she has never synced her ipad to a computer before. i want to save her contacts on my computer, but i dont want them to mesh with mine. how do i need to save hers to my computer before updating? i already uploaded her apps to my computer to make sure they would be saved and they meshed in with mine. i also want to make sure if i hit "sync contacts" it doesnt delete hers and put mine on her ipad. thanks for any input!

I would research into different contact groups, put hers in one group, yours in another. I have 3 options on my iPad, to see all groups, all from my PC, all from iCloud...so they are meshed, but I can only see the group that I want.

IPad 2 Personal shopping

Is Apple Canada planning to offer personal shopping/ reservation service for iPad 2.
Although we were happy when apple introduced iPhone 4, but it wasn't easy to buy a device.

Find my iPhone won't work with locked iPhone or iPad screen?

Okay,
I was showing a friend how cool "find my iphone" is and used the "Play Sound or Send Message" button to show her how it could find my iPad. A few seconds later the iPad starts beeping in my backpack. I open it up expecting to see a message "Oops, left my iPad at coffee shop, please call me at ______", but instead saw "Enter Passcode" box, which appears to cover the message I sent.
If I "cancel" the "enter passcode" box, I can see the message, but what with all the loud radar sounds I don't know that someone picking it up for the first time would think to do that. Is this the way it is supposed to work? What is the point in being able to send a message to a stranger who won't be able to read it because s/he doesn't know my passcode, and probably won't think to "cancel" the passcode box so s/he can see the hidden message behind it?

I have checked all of these settings and they are turned on. I think it must have something to do with iCloud...maybe there is a conflict in the account settings?

Is there a way to change the default colors for iPad apps?

I noticed one of my friends iPad 2 had a different color scheme for apps and I would like to change my iPad 2's default ( which is currently grey). To elaborate, the default color for the borders and tabs in Safari are grey on my iPad, my friends are blue. Would like to change from the drab grey color to blue also but I cannot find a setting for this. All applications and Setup apps have this default color scheme on my ipad. Do I have to reset the iPad and start over with setup to achieve this? Hope not, perhaps someone can shed some light on an easy way to do this. Thank You!

You can apply system-wise "negative" color effect under Settings > General > Accessibility, by toggling the White and Black switch - and, in iCab Mobile (and some other, better browsers / PDF readers), its own "night mode" negative color scheme.
Otherwise, no, you can't do anything else except for asking third party app authors to add selectable back/froeground (=text) colors to their apps.

HI friend open your desired album and see on the right side corner a button which says select press the button select and then press select the picture you want to move. A tick mark appears on the photo. Touch and hold the photo again for sometime and your finger can move the photo and can be dragged to your desired order. Did I clear your doubt. Fredy.

Can I backup one iPad to another temporarily and then restore them both at a later time?

My older son is autistic and is non-verbal. He uses his iPad to communicate with people around him. I need to put his iPad into the shop to get the screen repaired. I have made backups of both, my iPad and his. Can I restore my iPad using his backup to make mine look like his, so he can borrow mine while his is in the shop, and then when his is repaired, restore mine to my backup? Both iPads are iPad 2, and both have the latest IOS. Both are also 64 GB.

If you have a computer, yes you can do that. You can't back them up to each other though.
Using a computer (presuming you set it up with one, if you didn't then it gets trickier), back up yours. then go into the settings, reset, erase all content and settings, which puts it back to being straight out of the box. Hook his up, do a full back up. Unplug it. Plug yours back in and set yours up, and when you have the choice to set up as new or restore from backup, choose that and his data will clone onto yours.
Take his in, when you get it back, it should be wiped, restore it from the backup of his and you can then wipe yours and restore yours from the backup
But how are you getting it fixed? If it's going to an apple store and you're getting an out of warranty replacement, you won't need to do that because you'll take it in, pay the fee, walk out with the replacement and you can then restore that one from the backup, so you'd have no need to juggle the data.....unless you're mailing it in and it'll take a few days, etc.

How do I get game data back on the iPad after being sent a replacement?

I took my iPad into a shop for repair and they replaced it. Before I took it I backed it up to iTunes. When I got my replacement I synced my iPad with iTunes and got all my apps back. Only problem is I've lost all my game data. My achievements are on game centre. How do I get the game data back? Also I bought extra levels on a game and they have disappeared to? Can anyone help?

You should have restored from the backup before you synced the iPad. If iTunes created a new backup when you synced, the old backup may have been overwritten and the data may be gone.
Without connecting the iPad to your computer, launch iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices. Do you see a backup in that window from the day that you backed up the iPad before you sent it out to be replaced? If you do have a backup from that days, you can try restoring from that backup. While you are still in that window, click on the box that says - prevent iPods, iPhones .... From syncing automatically. Click OK. Quit iTunes.
Connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes, right click on the iPad under devices and select Restore From Backup. Select that backup from the window that pops up and restore from it. Then sync with iTunes.
You can turn Auto sync back on in the prefers when you are done.

I have a spreadsheet with a formula such as b2 x c2 very simple. However, if the formula cells (b2 and 2) are blank then the destination cell contains a zero. How can I make my destination cell b blank while the formula cells are blank? I got thsvresponse from a person working with Mac os x, if this helps...
I can't seem to make this work in my formula bar on ipad2!

Your friend was close, but forgot one thing. If you want it to be blank if either cell is MT, then you need an OR as well o test if either one or the other is blank...
=IF(OR(ISBLANK(a1),ISBLANK(b1)),"",a1xb1)
The isblank can also be represetned by ="" in many cases, usually accompanied with a trim to make sure there are no spaces were entered...

IMessage works fine for me and my friend when talking with other Apple guys but doesn't work when we want to chat with each other

Hello. Both me and my friend has got an iPhone. We both have the newest version of iOS7. We both have iMessage turned on and it works for both of us while we want to chat with other iPhone/iPad/iPod friends. But... when we want to send each other an iMessage... it doesn't work. Let's say my friend's contact name is "D" so i go to Messages -> New Message and in the recipient field i write D. I can choose her number and if it was iMessage "D" would obviously turn in blue like it does. But no, it turnes green and forces me to send normal SMS as if she didn't have an Apple device. Please help, klejbroda.

Make sure the send address you are using for the friend (and vice versa) are actually one of those you have set for iMessage.
