IPad FaceTime Activation

I have not been able to activate FaceTime on my iPad for several months.
I receive the same "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again" error.
I have tried modifing the DNS.
I have tried moving the iPad into the DMZ.
I have verified my Apple ID and it's in the email format "[email protected]"
I have tried from other known working networks.
I have tried a hard reset and recovery.
I have tried a settings reset.
...nothing seems to work.
What I have noticed, is that if I open iTunes and to to "Manage Devices" -- all my other apple goodies and my pc are listed.
Windows PC
iPhone 4
iPhone 3G
... but no iPad.
Is it possible that the device must be associated in this method in order for it to work?
This is the only difference I can see between my 4G phone and the iPad.
If I open the ipad, I can view all my settings with the same username.

In fact, if I try to enable automatic downloads on my ipad, it automatically flips back to off.

  • Cannot get on iMessage or FaceTime I get this message "FaceTime Activation: Could not sign in.  Please check your network connection and try again

Cannot get on iMessage or FaceTime I get this message "FaceTime Activation: Could not sign in.  Please check your network connection and try again

    Try something really simple.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or try this. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Or try this as well. Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On. Make sure it is set to On.
@Freckles888 ..... I really doubt that "millions of others" are having this problem. I think that news would be all over the airwaves and Apple would be taking more heat about it that we can imagine.

    and i can't activate it!
it stops on ipod>settings>Facetime='FaceTime Activation, Could not sign in. Please Check your network connection and try again.'

You may want to ask your question under a new discussion thread so you can be the Original Poster(OP) there. You will continue to receive emails from the other threads you have posted to. I think it will allow folks responding to focus on your particular situation. Also you will have to post your troubleshooting results only once.
Now that you are past the FaceTime login step, where are you in the troubleshooting steps in the iOS:Using FaceTime article at http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/facetime/?
Again, if you can ask and answer in a new thread/topic, that would be great.

  • Facetime login issue - "Facetime activation"

I purchased a new large iPad and restored it from my old iPad using my computer. For some reason the Facetime on a new iPad took the wrong email, but when I try to change it to my actual email I get this error:
    Facetime Activation
Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again.
I've been trying the whole day yesterday. Obviously my network connection is OK.
Any idea how to fix this?

I actually got it working. They wanted me to change my password. So who would've thought??? Once I logged in through this page https://appleid.apple.com/ and changed it, everything started to work again.
PS. Evidently we have to pay for Apple's inability to keep celebrity nudes private by changing our passwords now. I just wish that they clearly labeled it.

  • IMessage and Facetime Activation charges with an international call

    Hi there,
my mobile provider charged me for two international calls, which i thought i didn't make. I live in germany and the calls were made to a number in the united kingdom. So i did some research and could narrow it down to the configuration of my new iPhone 4s. I could recreate the international call: it seems that the iPhone 4s calls the uk number to activate the iMessage and the Facetime services.
Why is that so? The iMessage and Facetime activation on my iPad worked just fine over wifi without any extra costs.
I don't mind the 58 cent those calls cost me, but I'm a little bit ****** about the fact, that it was charged without any warning or notice.
Why isn't the activation possible over wifi or at least 3G?
    Thanks, bye.

    Hi,
I have the same problem! How can it be that after I changed my AppleID password, iMessage is deactivated and needs to be activated again?? For another 50 cents!! Like you said, it's just a few cents, but it's still annoying if you have to pay everytime you change your password!!
I hope Apple can fix this soon!
    Cheers.

  • I need to change my iCloud email address.  I changed it for my Apple id but I can't log out of iCloud to change it there.  Find my iPad is activated so I can't delete my iCloud account.  I don't have the email address the iCloud login has anymore.

I need to change my iCloud email address.  I changed it for my Apple id but I can't log out of iCloud to change it there.  Find my iPad is activated so I can't delete my iCloud account.  I don't have the email address the iCloud login has anymore so I can't have the password sent there.  To sum it up, iCloud has an old email for the account log-in.  I don't remember the password for the old email.  I have Find My iPad activated so the iCloud account cannot be deleted.  And I am already logged out of iTunes & App Store.

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple IDand that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • I just upgraded my ipad OS and now my ipad is not picking up the 3G network.  Why and how do I fix this?  When I go into cellular data and view account it says my ipad is activated and ready to go.  What gives???

Why and how do I fix this?  When I go into cellular data and view account it says my ipad is activated and ready to go.  What gives???
It was working fine up until I upgraded the OS which I hadn't done in many versions so the ipad was not working as well as it should.  Now it is searching for the network.

        Hello noodles074!
Let's get your device working again! It's possible that your device just needs to be reprovisioned on our network. Please go to Settings>General>Reset>Subscriber Services>Reprovision Account. This may take several minutes. After allowing about 5 minutes for completion, please power your iPad off and back on, and test it again. Let us know if this takes care of it!
    Thank you,

  • My Ipad was activated by my cousin so then when i have restarted it, i had to use their apple email to activate my ipad and she lives very far so is their any other way for me to be able to get into my ipad with my apple ID

My ipad was activated by my cousin so then i cant activate it by my apple ID so can i get into my ipad without using my cousins icloud? i know my apple ID and Apple password/

You need to erase the device and reconfigure it for yourself. Have your cousin turn off Find My Phone, then erase your iPad. After iOS is reinstalled do your own setup using your Apple ID and password.

  • Facetime activity in console Macbook Air

I found Facetime activity in console on my Macbook Air. I have never used Facetime and nobody else has access to this Macbook as it is a work laptop. I have never used Facetime on any other device that I use my Apple ID for. Is there another app that accesses Facetime or is this an update? I don't want my employer to think that I am using Facetime on my company Macbook. Here is an excerpt from console of what I have found:

    Monagle,
Make sure that you have the date and time set properly on your MacBook Air.  If the timezone settings are off, Facetime will not work.  I surely hope that you can FT with your relatives in the "old Sod" before Christmas is over.
