IPad failing to import pictures properly

When using the camera co nekton kit's memory adapter to bring pictures into my iPad, it keeps exiting the application prematurely. On a card with 60 pictures on it, it will Import 3-6 pictures and then need to be restarted. Eventually you get there, but it plays havoc with exporting your last import to flickr.com! Any ideas how to fix this?

I have imported some photos to my iPad for a presentation. The pictures were in different folder under the main folder. After I import the main folder the sub folders are deleted and now all the picture are in one folder. How can I keep the original main folder with sub folders when importing pictures in iPad photo?

Not within the Photos app, but there are other photo management apps in the App Store which allow you to create albums within albums e.g. Photo Manager Pro - that app lets you copy photos to/from the Photos app and copy photos via iTunes : Photo Manager Pro help pages.

You may have to do this several times.
Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • How do i delete a thousand pictures from my ipad that were imported from CF card?

I carried my ipad on trip instead of my laptop, used the ipad to store photos as i filled up my camera's cards.  worked well.  have copied them all the my HD and an external back-up drive.  but, there's seems to be no way to bulk delete all those photos (45GB worth) from the ipad.  i tried creating an album, putting all the photos in there and deleting the album... doesn't delete the photos, just to pointers to them for that album.  The only way it seems to be able to delete is one picture at a time, and there's over 2800 pics.. I've tried unchecking all the 'synch' folder in Iphoto but that doesn't removed the ones on the ipad that were imported there w/o using Iphoto... i've added and updated a lot of things to my ipad since i took those pics and don't want to do a restore. (which would also mean revert to IOS4)  Any suggestions would be most welcome
    TIA

  • How can I get imported pictures from my ipad 3 to my laptop?

Pretty much what the quetions states - "How can I get imported pictures from my ipad 3 to my laptop?"
I've imported a load of pics from my Nikon D40 to my iPad 3 (ios 6.1) using the iPad camera connector.
    So far so good.
However I cannot sync the pictures to my laptop (win 7).  I would like to be able to keep the albums I have created, and get them to the laptop too.
If a restore was required I might lose thee pics.
Any advice or apps recommended to help me?
    Thanks in advance,

To copy photos to your computer that were copied to it via the camera connection kit (or taken with it or saved from emails/websites) then see this page (as far as I know you can't copy their albums) - on a PC you can use the windows camera wizard

  • Using a connector to import pictures from an SD card; my iPad appears frozen ?

Trying to import pictures to my iPad for the first time & the connection is in; I receive the Import icon, but appears frozen ?

Yes. You need the iPad Camera Connection kit. The photos have to be in a folder titled DCIM in the root directory of the card. The name has to be eight characters like a camera names photos.. The suffix should be .jpg but some other photo formats may work
BTW, this is the Mac Mini desktop forum

  • I am trying to import pictures to IPAD 2 via Ipad Connector. Use to work now it does not. Any clues?

I am trying to import pictures to IPAD 2 via Ipad2 Camera  Connector (Flash). Use to work now it does not. Any clues? I am a neophyte to Apple products...

If you are using a flash card, as opposed to an SD card, then I assume that you are using a third-party card reader with the kit ? If so what error, if any, are you getting e.g. a 'requires too much power' error ?
Also how are the photos getting onto the card ? If you are adding them yoursefly then you need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the card, with the photos underneath it, and the photo filenames need to be exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension i.e. in a similar format as if a camera had created/written them

  • IPhoto fail to import some pictures

    Hi,
Just came back from a long vacation with around 600 pictures (I have a Nikon D70). After importing all of them directly in to the iPhoto application, it gives me the following error message, for 126 specified photos: ”unreadable files - the following file could not be imported”
All the rest of the pictures have been imported sucessfully as usual.
I have tried to put the JPGs that can not be imported on my desktop and I can see them fine in the preview program. However, when trying to import them into the iPhoto application from the desktop, I get the same error message. The relevant pictures have not been added to the iPhoto library in the finder either, so that can not be the cause for the error message
Can anyone tell me how I would be able to get these ”lost” pictures into my iPhoto???

    Hi,
I have just purchased a Nikon D70S myself and have tried importing my photo's into iPhoto. I get the same error as you - iPhoto fails to import some photo's and I get the same error message. Have you been able to reslove this or does anyone know the answer?

  • IMovie still fails to import H.264 properly

With the release of 10.6.3 and iMovie 8.0.6 I made a new try importing H.264 1080i50 from my Samsung HMX-H105. See the following thread for the old discussion:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1997748
    In the current release,
    1) Importing without optimizing, the aspect ratio is wrong inside iMovie as before
    2) Importing with Optimize Full gives an AIC file with the correct resolution
    3) Importing with Optimize Large gives an AIC file with the wrong resolution (1706x504)
Problems with 2) are that the conversion takes time, quality is degraded and file size is increased.
Playback in QT Player has changed in 10.6.3. Motion blur is now added and the interlacing is a lot less visible when I play the original files from the camera.
Does anyone know which parts of H.264/AVC are properly implemented in iMovie?
Can I add anything to my system to alter the way iMovie handles H.264?
Are there other editing software for the Mac with better H.264 support?
    /jonas

This is me replying with a different AppleID. It's a long story...
Anyway, thanks for your help. I converted to AIC using MPEG Streamclip as you described. The resulting looks the same or very close to the the original when played in QT, and the file can be imported into iMovie without the problems that I get with the original H.264 file.
So, I wonder why QT and MPEG Streamclip can read the file while iMovie fails to do it properly?
About Apple's list of camcorders. The Samsung HMX-H105 is very recently released and I would have been surprised if it had been on Apples list. Surely there must be cameras NOT on the list with H.264 files that import to iMovie? It would be nice to understand better why some H.264 file import ok and some do not.
Have Apple published the H.264 profiles and levels that it is compatible with? Isn't Quicktime used for importing?
Will going through AIC significantly decrease the quality of my recordings, it will be a re-compress using MPEG2, right? I noticed that IMovie was a lot snappier working with AIC compared to H.264 (at least with my partially failed import), that is a plus. The file size, of course, is not.
From MPEG Streamclip, I get the following file info of the original. Is there anything in it that stands out as peculiar? Why 25 fps and not 50i or something?
    Stream: HDV_0004.MP4
    Path: ~/Desktop/HDV_0004.MP4
    Duration: 0:00:43
    Data Size: 89.34 MB
    Bit Rate: 17.09 Mbps
    Video Tracks:

  • Erase imported pictures on iPad

I have spend hour in trying to erase pictures on my iPad, which now is full of photos.
    Very annoying. And no success.
Searching on different support forums do not give any clue.
One common advice is to erase the photos on my computer, and then sync.
Apart from being a awkward procedure (why make it impossible to erase pictures on the iPad directly?), the photos are not synced, they are imported from the cameras card directly into the iPad. No computer involved.
Another advice is to reset the iPac completely. Not an alternative, if I can avoid it.
But maybe I cant't? Maybe that is Apples way of thinking different? Come on...
How complicated can it be? Do I really have to reset the device, thus erasing everything, just to get rid of the imported pictures?

How do I import pictures from my mac to my ipad?

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)
