IPad fails to connect to WiFi after OTA update to iOS 6

After the OTA update to iOS 6 my new iPad fails to connect to my WiFi network at home. My LANCOM router reports the following issue:
Index: 62294
Zeit: 19.09.2012 21:08:28
Interface: WLAN-1
Ereignis: Rejected Association from WLAN station xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx []: ()
Adresse: xxxxxxxxxxxx
Grund: Cannot support all requested capabilities in Capability Information field
It has worked flawlessly in the past with iOS 5 on my new iPad and iPhone 4. At the moment I hestitate to update my iPhone too.
Anyone with the same issue or an idea how to fix it?
Thanks in advance, greetings from Stuttgart (Germany),
Jens

  • Phone thinks it's connected to iTunes after OTA update to iOS 6

I just downloaded and installed iOS 6. After installing the update my phone now displays the image when you connect it to iTunes. However, my phone is not plugged into a computer. I tried connecting it to iTunes but iTunes then tells me that the phone is in recovery mode and must be recovered before it can be connected. Any ideas on a quick way to resolve this or should I just put in my iPhone 5 order now?

I got the same thing. I said screw it and hit restore and update. Now it seems as if its downloading iOS6 again in itunes, even tho I downloaded it wirelessly before I got the "plug into itunes" screen. We'll see what happens....

  • LG G3 cant connect to wifi after Lollipop update

After getting the update a couple days ago, I have not been able to connect to my WiFi. Had no issues prior to the update. I have done everything Ive read online, with no success. I am assuming this is one of the many Lollipop bugs? Has there been a fix discovered yet? Obviously this is a big issue as I don't want to use my data. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

I can connect to wifi, but it is so slow as to be unusable. I contacted Verizon via Chat and they sent me here. They also said, " I do show we are currently investigating that issue."
Hopefully, an update will be coming soon. I do not want to go through the hassle of a factory reset, especially considering what I have read from those that did and are still having problems.

  • My iPad doesn't want to start after I updated the iOS 8.1.3

after  I updated my iPad wit the IOS 8.1.3 it doesn't do any thing just show the Apple sign

    Hey eliz_prieto,
If you cannot get passed the Apple Logo, then what you must do is to restore it using iTunes. To do that, you will need to put your iPad into recovery mode by restarting your iPad and holding the Home button when it powers on and after a few seconds you should see a connect to iTunes screen and then follow the on screen instructions to restore it with iTunes. Take a look at the article below to walk you through this. If you have a back up in iTunes or in iCloud then you can put that back on after the restore is complete.

  • IPad Fails to connect to wifi, but shows the wifi icon

My company just installed a wireless network in our building.  I was very excited because I can finally use my iPad in meetings and ditch the IBM laptop.  However, it does not want to connect to the wireless network.  Let me try to explain what happens.
    BTW,
    1. It is a new network so all the routers have the most up to date firmware.
    2. I have tried to connect with my iPad2 and iPad both without success.  The iPad was recently wiped clean and set up for my son.
    3. I can connect to my home network, my sprint mifi card, and other networks (hotels, starbucks) with no problem.
    4. Laptops can connect with out issue to the network.
    5. Others have been able to connect their iPhone to the network.
    6. One other person could not connect their iPod Touch to the network.  He gets the same response that I do.  I don't know anyone else with an iPad that works in my building.  However see item two above.
    7. It is using WPA security.
    8. I have reset network settings numerous times on both iPads and rebooted both iPads numerous times.
    9. I am able to connect to another wifi network in our building.  Both networks use the same security and password.
    This is what happens:
    1. Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi and choose my companies wireless network.
    2. It asks for the password and I type it in (Trust me I am typing it in correctly.  I have done it about a hundred times now.)
    3. Recieve the message "Unable to join the network," I hit Dismiss and Cancel.
    4. I get the Checkmark next to the wireless network I just tried to join.  If you click the blue arrow I get an IP address, but NO "Forget This Network" Option.  I also have the wifi icon next to the word iPad in the upper left corner of the screen.  It will also not load any Safari pages.  Safari states "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet."
    I have also tried:
    1. Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi and choose "Other."
    2. Type in the SSID name and choose WPA, Type the password.
    3. Hit "Join" & get the message "Could not find the network"
    4. I hit Dismiss and Cancel.
Please help.  I have read many articles on this forum and tried everything without success.

If you are getting a 169... IP, then you are not connected. That is a self-assigned IP that the iPad is giving itself because the router is not giving it one.
Is it possible that you are not selecting the correct WPA security protocol for your network?

  • My iPad 2 won't connect to wifi after new update

    Hello everyone!
I am a new ipad and mac user and I am on vacation. During my vacation I remotely updated my iPad and ever since I can not connect to the hotels wifi. It is one of those that you have to sign in before being able to do anything on the internet. When you go into settings and select a network it will show a check that it is connected but when you go to safari it will not open the login page. This means I can not check my email or do anything that is essential when I am away from my home town. If anyone can help it would be much appriciated!!!!

  • HT4623 My iPad is not connecting to internet after software update what can i do

Hi everyone I just update the software 7.0.4 on my iPad 2 and after doing that cannot connect to internet, can somebody tell me
what to do to correct this issue? Please

You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.
If yes you can try resetting your Network Settings. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note that you will have to re-enter all of your WiFI passwords.

  • Cant connect to wifi after latest update

The latest iOS7 update has killed my wifi connection. The system says it connected but it cannot be used??

    Hey there gjcrewe,
It sounds like your wifi is connected on your iPhone, but you cannot get to the internet. I want to recommend these troubleshooting steps from the article named:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
If the above does not fix the issue, I would next try these steps:
Unable to access the Internet while connected to Wi-Fi
If you're using a public or commercial network, you may need to log in or subscribe.
Check to see if you have a self-assigned IP address:
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected and tap .
If your IP address is 169.254.xxx.xxx, you may not be able to access the Internet.
If you do not have a self-assigned IP address, see if other Wi-Fi devices on your network have Internet access.
If they do not, consult with your network administrator or ISP for further assistance.
If they do, reset network settings on your device by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Can't connect to WiFi after OS update and reboot of Playbook

Phoned RIM Support, and was advised it is a known problem, and our best people are working on it. Not sure how they will communicate fix to a device that may be corrupted.

I've been having the same problem for the past couple of weeks after an OS update.  I had previously tried rebooting my router but I mustn't have turned it off long enough because I tried it again today and it seems to have solved the problem.

  • TS3274 iPad 2 Auto-rebooting continuously after OS update to iOS 7

My iPad 2 is auto-rebooting continuously after OS update to iOS 7 . After every reboot , it is waking up for around 20 seconds and then rebooting again with apple logo coming on the black screen . I tried switch-off/on but the problem is still there . Please tell what to do .
PS : The iOS update was completed successfully . The General>Software-Updates shows "up to date iOS 7" .

I somehow managed to restore the ipad within 20 seconds time . I erased all settings and data by General>Reset>Erase-All-Settings-And-Data (simply reset settings did not work) . Make sure you have backup of your data (on iCloud or iTunes) before doing the previous step . Thank god , now it is working fine . *** Apple !!

  • Why won't my ipad connect to the wifi after I updated it to ios 7.1.2

Never have I ever been so upset at an electronic device
If I had know my iPad would cause such distress after this update I wouldn't have attempted it.
Because of this bloody update a plethora of problems have appeared and I have no clue how to fix it.
Firstly at around 4 this morning the wifi connection was spotty so I had to keep on reconnecting, but that was fixed by getting closer to the router. I thought "problem solved no biggie right?" WRONG! I left my house and came back expecting the wifi to connect again, but that was a fail.
SOOOOO I figured I needed to forget the network and log back in. That didnt work. I should not have done that. I should not have done that.
I got the *Unable to join the network. Dismiss* crap over and over and over again!
So now I figured I'd look up some help! Why not give it a go! So i got that whole (general-  reset- reset network) with or without turning on airplane mode bs. Didnt work. Trust me I tried both.Twice.
Since that didnt work I figured a reboot would. No. I turned my iPad off so many times I probably gave the poor thing whiplash
Now this has been going on all day and I finally gave in an hour ago and decided if I restore it to the ios 7.1.1 it'll work again.
Well it must be my freakin birthday cause guess what? You have to turn off your icloud's "find my ipad"to restore and to do that you need a........ wait for it................. internet connection!!!! Brilliant. Just. Brilliant. -_-
Do you FEEL my struggle yet????
all my problems...... they all lead to that dang wifi connection. Fml.
Any of you magical smarty pants have any help for this poor unfortunate soul.
    it would be much appreciated.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • IPad 3 with iOS 6 fails to connect to WiFi with WPA2 and AES - any solutions available?

    Hello *,
after upgrading my iPad 3 to iOS 6 it constantly fails to connect to WiFi with WPA2 and AES - hidden or broadcasted SSID - at home and at work because the device does not accept the WPA2 password. This is also the case for my iPhone 4S but both devices did work with WiFi (WPA2 / AES) perfectly with previously installed iOS 5.1.1.
I tried to downgrade to iOS 5.1.1 but it seems to be no longer possible to downgrade for both iPad 3 and iPhone 4S as the certification and signage window for iOS 5.1.1 maybe has been closed by Apple.
Does anyone know about a possible solution to connect to WiFi with WPA2 and AES with iPad 3 / iPhone 4S and iOS 6 upgrade?
Thank you very much for any help and advise.
    Best regards from Germany
