IPad for Drawing or Storyboarding. Possible?

I have seen this amazing device and its come into my mind that this could be very helpful for designer, specially if any software for story boarding will be great. I am waiting for the best model to come into market (64GB + WiFi etc... ). I am thinking if it can be used for story boarding then it will be really great.
Is there any application which can be used for drawing like google sketchup or Autodesk Sketchup Pro?

New York artist David Kassan (www.davidkassan.com) uses Brushes on his iPad with great effect, and will be doing a live web cast from his studio tonight [June 21 6pm EST] on Ustream. He'll be painting on his iPad, using Brushes, doing a portrait from life of Tim Newton, the curator of the American Master Exhibition. Tune in and check it out. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/kassan

  • What is the best stylus to use for drawing on my ipad?

For drawing apps, what is the best stylus for my ipad?  What does qualities does one need in a stylus?

There are many stylii for iPad.
The main requirement is that it be a capacitive type of stylus. Meaning that the stylus' has to be able to conduct the electrical impulses from your fingers to the tip of the pen so that the pen functions just like if you're touching it with your finger.
Stylii made for iPhone/iPod Touch or iPad will usually be indicated.
You really need to do a search on the web for them, and, if possible, find a retailer that is close to your location to see one, in person, to see if it might fit your needs.
Here are few links to get you started
    http://myipadgames.com/best-ipad-stylus/
    http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/iphoneandipodtouchapps/ss/Best-Stylus.htm
The last link has links for other stylii at the bottom of page that you can tap or click on.
Personally, I have two that I use and like. I use a Pogo Sketch stylus, and just recently switched to using a Wacom Bamboo stylus that I find is really good for drawing. I has a smaller rubber tip on the end than most other stylii.
You have to find one you think might work for you based upon size, length/diameter, and size of the pen tip.
And if you can get to see some of these in person, the stylus' weight. I find, for me, the lighter a stylus is the better.
    Good luck and Happy Hunting!

  • I have an ipad that only has wifi and I am unable to connect because all the networks are locked for access.   Is there anything that I can attached to my ipad that will make it possible for me to access the internet

I need help.  Just purchased an ipad with wifi service only.  Is there anything that I can get that will allow me to access the internet.  I keep getting network connections that have a lock which makes it unable to log on.  Picking up numerous with sites with the lock.  Help did I make a mistake in getting this ipad.  If so, can I trade it in for one that is more network friendly.

If you expect to use a WiFi only iPad it needs a wireless network. It is customary to have your own versus using someone else's.
Nothing is more network friendly than an iPad.
You couldn't possibly have expected to sponge off a service someone else is paying for?

In my family we have 3IPhones 4S, one IPhone5, one IPad3, one IPadMini and two IPad 4. Is it possible to use the same energieadapter for all of those ?

Yes but the iPhone chargers will struggle to charge the iPads ,they need more power than the iPhone chargers produce and with an iPad will charge VERY slowly
The iPad chargers whether 10w or 12 will happily charge all your devices and Apple confirms the compatibility on the relevant web page.

the Wifi storage options are interesting but it seems they only allow to read files from the device on the iPad but not transfer files to the storage device via WiFi.
I'm looking for a possibility to use the iPad for photography while traveling, without the access to a computer.
Shooting photo's in RAW format crates pretty big files that will fill up the iPad's memory pretty fast if you shoot a lot during a (let's say) month long trip.
my idea was to use load the photo's to the iPad so i could view them and sort out any bad ones. then copy them over to the storage device so i can continue using my CF cards for shooting. I have an image thank for copying the photo's directly to the HDD but it would be so sweet to be able to check them on the iPad before hand.
    any suggestions?

Check out pogo plug device, it allows you to upload camera roll via wifi.

  • Backup original iPad for possible transfer to iPad3

Backup original iPad for a possible transfer to an iPad3.  I never updated the original iPad to OS5 so I assume iCloud is out of the picture.  Being a computer novice I'm unsure of the steps to make this transfer.
    Is there any help?
    Thanks

If you want everything that's on your current iPad onto the new one, then you can first copy all purchases off the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. You can then backup your current iPad (by right-clicking on the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes) and restore the new iPad from that backup (a list of what is included in a backup is in this article - it excludes music, films, tv shows, synced photos). As the backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their settings and content, for the restore onto your new iPad to work completely you'll need all the relevant apps in your computer's iTunes library - otherwise the restore won't be able to install the apps and therefore their content (which is one reason to do File > Transfer Purchases, and if that doesn't copy them over then you can re-download them for free).
The restore won't copy passwords onto a different device, so you will need to re-enter your email, wifi router, and any website passwords onto the new iPad.

  • I have purchased Pages, Numbers and Keynote for my iMac and wish to transfer them to my iPad 3. Is this possible and if so how do I do it?

I have purchased Pages, Numbers and Keynote for my iMac and wish to transfer them to my iPad 3. Is this possible and if so how do I do it?

If you want to have Pages, Numbers and Keynote on the iPad then you will need to buy the app versions from the iTunes app store - the Mac version (OS X) is not compatible with the iPad (iOS), they are different operating systems.

  • I have two iPads. With two functioning iPads. Is it possible (on the same ID) to sync two of them differently with the same account. So I want to use the new iPad for all my current functions. The old iPad for just my music collection?

I have two iPads. With two functioning iPads. Is it possible (on the same ID) to sync two of them differently with the same account. So I want to use the new iPad for all my current functions. The old iPad for just my music collection and remove all the other stuff?

Very easily. I have an iPod touch and iPad on the same account with totally different content.
If you use iTunes, connect each iPad to your computer and open iTunes and deselect any automatic updating/syncing. If you don't sync with iTunes but have them set up independently, under the settings, App Store, turn off automatic downloads for apps, etc.
I'm old fashioned, I set up and sync my iPad and iPod to my computer and iTunes. Each device has a different name  and I manage content manually and only allow sharing on what I want shared.

  • I am a nursing student and would like to get an Ipad for textbooks. IS that possible?

I am a nursing student and would like to get an Ipad for textbooks. Is that possible? I want to be able to just carry and ipad around, as opposed to 7 or 8 textbooks.

I would also be certain that you get enough memory to keep nursing books.  I remember the books my sister had in nursing school and they were very heavy in pictures and graphics... which means they will take up a lot of memory space.  Be sure it can hold all your books.

I have had my iPad for ten months, I bought it at Walmart and lost the reciete. Today I discovered a dead pixel. I have a one year warranty. Is it possible I can bring it into any retail store and have them repair it?

I dont know. Pj prob knows more than I. Only thing I had fixed was a classic Ipod(@apple) like 8-10 years ago. I wasnt even sure if i got a new ipod or not at the time. It did come back blank so maybe it was new. This whole thing was new to me at the time(I was about 13).
They should be able to do something. Even the warrenty and apple extended care SAYS it even protects against 2 claims of "misuse", say if you dropped it. They SHOULD be able to replace it or fix it no charge under warrenty. Youd think atleast.

  • IPad/appleid setup in advance for mother-in-law: possible?

We live 1300 miles from my mother-in-law. We won't be traveling there until January. I'll be giving her my iPad2. I'd like to go ahead and set it up for her, complete with appleid, apps, etc. This morning, I fetched her a new gmail account and set it up, complete with a contacts list for friends and relatives, and appropriate settings for a simple enough appearance. However, on the iPad, she'll use either the gmail app or the native mail app.
What I'd like to do is, go ahead and set up the iPad and have it ready to hand it over with just a bit of "training". It's easy enough to use, as you all know. The biggest training will be to get her to watch the battery level and keep the power up to snuff.
She'll need just email, *maybe* Safari, TV Guide, *maybe* weather, and *maybe* a couple other apps (which, if she doesn't want them, I'll hide in a folder...)
85-year-old lady, short on iPad interests, just a primitive appliance.
Think I can set it up from here, with an appleid equivalent to the gmail account (which I can also access from here)?

Yeah, I think you can. Especially if you just hand over the g-mail account info to her so she can access the app store and update whatever you put on there.
You'll need to look into setting her up the apple ID without a credit card attached. (first try downloading a free app, then follow the prompts from there. ANd make sure yours is signed out before you do this)
You can always give her an iTunes card for any apps or content.
If I was doing it, I would also give her a list of the access codes, maybe as well as a short 'iPad for Dummies'.....step by step how to do this, how to do that. etc. Of course you know your MIL better than we, whether or not she'd be receptive or offended to a how to guide.

  • Unfortunately, I lost by an update all the apps on my iPad 2. Now I can not pull the data from the cloud to my iPad. How is this possible?

Unfortunately, I lost by an update all the apps on my iPad 2. Now I can not pull the data from the cloud to my iPad. How is this possible?

If you just installed iCloud does that mean you updated the iOS that's running on your iPad?  If so, you'll want to restore all the programs you have from the backup you hopefully made.
Refer to these articles for help.
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software.
If you don't want to use iCloud, simply don't activate it.
You can also download the programs again.
If you live in a country that supports re-downloading apps then you can re-download them.  You can refer to this article for more help.

I am unable to initiate a video chat on facebook from a pc to a new ipad mini.  Is this possible and do I need a special app on my iPad?   Receivew a message on the PC after request a video chat with the iPad that the connection is too slow and the iPad does not show an incoming video.  JMaruje

A Mac Mini s a computer you can use with the iPad.
YO do not need a computer fro backup since yo can backup to iCloud.
However, sometimes software glitches occur and require connecting the device to a compute to restore vi iTuunes.
You can control a computer via an iPod with an app like TeamViewer or LogMeIn. There are others too.
You can also use an iPad a a SECONDAY monitor for a computer. with other apps.
You need a dedicated monitor,  keyboard and mouse to setup the Mini. You can use a PC USB mouse and keyboard.

  • Best strategies for setting up iPad for elderly person?

I hope to eventually get an iPad 3 for an elderly parent and I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about it.
Here is what I was thinking:
    - get iPad.
    - set up iPad using iTunes account that I create from a spare email address I have access to.
    - get some iTunes cards via my own account and load it into the new account.
    - install apps, fiddle with settings, set up iCloud, possibly load it with photos, etc.
    - send iPad to them.
    - change email address on the new account to reflect their actual email address.
    - Is it correct in that no credit card would need to be entered by them at any point?
    - I have tweaked iChat on their laptop to auto-answer incoming video chats.  It sounds like there is no such setting on Facetime, right?   Is it still pretty easy to accept Facetime calls on the iPad (I've only used it via OS X).   From reading some past threads it sounds like there is no way to make a shortcut so that a specific contact could be called in one click (i.e. icon on dock), is that still the case?  (a Siri on iPad would help with this)
    - I currently do not do much photo sharing via Apple devices.  What is the easiest/best way to have them be able to view a gallary of images that one or more people can add things to remotely?  Do I have to turn to third-party apps to do this?
    - Any other general recommendations on getting a iPad set up for someone (especially the elderly) who are physically far away (and thus who won't get hands-on training from the person setting it up, but from people who are iPad savvy)?
I envision them mainly using it for: video chat, solitaire, email reading (not heavy email composing), light web, photo taking/sharing, etc.
    Thanks,

    Hi Captino,
Please note I sent this earlier today to the thread you posted on yesterday.
If you haven't yet, in the box near the top right on your posts only, click on receive e-mail notifications. Then you won't have to search through to find any responses you might get from the threads you are participating in.
One of my big concerns is that Apple should advertise to seniors with or without many of the issues that often accompany aging. The ipad's target audience did not start out advertising to toddlers, but we know they're using them and they are included in the new iphone 5 for photos and itunes. So let's get the increasing elderly population involved.
First, you might want to contact Apple corp offices in Cupertino and see if someone will listen to your suggestions. (I have sent them the links below.) The more Apple is aware that there is a real  need, they will hopefully increase focus and develop more to make the ipad usable for our elderly with needs, which varies from person to person.
I'd also like to suggest you start your own thread, posting in the title something like "How can an elderly person with dimentia benefit from ipad?" Then, copy the info you wrote in your post above here.
Here are some links that might interest you. The information is out there that many elderly people with needs can be helped by and are benefitting using an ipad. There are also links to support user forums.
