IPad frozen after attempting to restore earlier version

My iPad is frozen after I tried to restore an earlier version - 20 Dec 2012 - via my laptop. I have used the on/off and centre control together to try and re-boot, but the apple returns and no further action occurs. Connecting it to iTunes via the laptop does not work as it appears the laptop does not read that the iPad is connected. Any suggestions?

Are you using iTunes to restore it? Were you getting error messages? If so, what were they?

You will have to force the iPad into recovery mode and data will be lost unless you have a backup.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

I want to restore backup for iPhone 4 which I done on 20/07/2014 3:00 PM. After this backup I update my iPhone from iOS 6 to iOS 7.1.2 using itunes. Unfortunately error occured during update, the iPhone reset itself and I was following the instruction to setup iPhone for few times and keep stuck at the last step. The 4 backup records shown above are the consequence of repeating setup and sync automatically (all are empty phone backup after reset).
This is the most painful iOS update for me I lost all my data in just one click.
Besides the 4 backup records listed there, I am hoping there is other ways to look for backup. Is there any?

  • IPhone won't turn on after attempting to restore!

  • When I turn on iPad it says connect to iTunes after attempting a restore

Been having a bit of trouble with my iPad recently so thought I would do a factory reset to try and fix it. So i put it on to do the reset using iTunes and left the room, only to come back 5 minutes later and see that my iPad is showing the iTunes logo with the USB plug-in image. Which I thought was odd as it was already connected to iTunes in the first place when i left the room...I disconnected and re-connected a couple of times with no luck, however the sound on my laptop was coming through as though the laptop was recognizing the device had been connected but no such luck with iTunes picking it up and recognizing the connection. I then tried turning the iPad off a few times and turning back on to no avail. I then started searching online for answers and solutions about trying to go into recovery mode but the iPad wont. When I press the power down button on the iPad I do not get any 'slider' or anything to swipe as you normally would when you turn off an apple device. When I try holding down the home button on the iPad whilst connecting the iPad to the USB which is connected to my laptop it does not go into recovery mode. But I am still hearing the noise as though the laptop is recognizing the device, it is just iTunes that is not. I do have the latest version of iTunes, as that is what I thought would be the initial problem so I downloaded it but it made little-to-no difference. I believe the system software on the iPad was up-to-date too.
Has anyone else had a similar issue? Been searching online for solutions for the best part of 2 hours now and nothing is seeming to work or make any difference.
If anyone can help I am grateful
    Thanks

UPDATE: I have managed to get it working, after disconnecting and re-connecting over 50 times, iTunes finally picked it up and I have now completed the factory reset and everything is now working as it should

  • After downloading latest version, keep getting error message "The iTunes Library .itl file cannont be found or created"? The file never moved from My Music. Repeated attempts to restore previous version result in same message. Help!!

    Help!!

    Hello Whit1erj,
It sounds like you are not able to access your iTunes library.  With the error message you are receiving, you will want to first locate the iTunes Library.itl file.  These are the default locations for this file on a Windows computer, but if you dont find them here, you may need to search for the file:
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
    Windows Vista: C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\
    Windows 7: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\
    Windows 8: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\
You can find the full article about iTunes file locations here:
Where are my iTunes files located?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1391
Once you locate the iTunes Library.itl file, you can make iTunes point to it using these steps:
Steps to create or choose a different iTunes Library file
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you are using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu and choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
You should see one of the following screens:
Then you can select Choose Library and navigate to the location of the iTunes Library.itl file.  You can find the full article here:

  • Ye olde stuck in 'connect to itunes' after attempting to restore to factory

    Hi everyone.
(I'm sure you've all seen this problem a gazillion times, and in-before-anyone-says "use the search feature", I have done, extensively all day, and have gotten nowhere despite applying the advice)
I've been gifted an iPhone 4, which was locked to EE. Online guide from Vodafone claimed that choosing to 'restore' your iphone via iTunes would restore to factory and remove the lock. Unfortunately what seems to have happened is, iTunes has attempted to update me to latest iOS, and in the process something has gone horribly wrong, now I'm stuck on the 'connect to itunes' logo. Connecting to my computer results in iTunes error message saying: "Your iPhone can't be updated; you must restore it to factory settings. If you previously backed up the iPhone, click Restore Backup after the restore process completes."
After completing the loading bar for 'Extracting software' I keep getting an error code 3014 which I've been able to ascertain is usually a connectivity issue. So far I have:
Put phone into DFU mode as it crashed on the Apple logo (with a grey line beneath), which is what imo created this loop
Setup port forwarding for all ports necessary for iTunes / iCloud
Attempted to use 3rd-party program to Exit Recovery mode, worked but then went straight back into recovery mode.
Disabled my firewall (Comodo) during attempt, still results in error code 3014
Created a new user profile with admin priviliges, error code 3014
Attempted to install an older firmware in case it's trying to update me to iOS8 or above, error code 3014
Reset my hosts file, zero entries yet again, error code 3014
I'm now at a complete loss as to what to try next... something tells me 'throwing at wall' or 'jumping up and down on' will not be viable solutions to the issue! Would greatly appreciate some help from the community.
Oh also worth mentioning, I don't have another PC or access to one at the mo to see if it's my PC's settings that are causing the issue.

Check this support document, if you haven't, for some additional troubleshooting steps. http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201442
If that will not do it, you can take a look at this and see if Recovery mode helps. If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
The last resort would be to make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Provider for assistance in restoring.

  • IPad crashed after attempting to install iOS 5.1

I attempted to update my iPad to iOS 5.1.  When I did, I got a blue screen.  I can not start my iPad, and it appears to have crashed.  It won't even start up enough to restore.  Any ideas?

I tried that.  The iPad doesn't boot up enough for iTunes to recognize the iPad.  I get an apple for a few seconds, and then the blue screen (sometimes green). The only way I can get the iPad to start/shutdown is to hard boot it too.  Sometimes I get a line through the screen before it goes blue.  The iPad was working great until I attempted the update.

  • IPad stuck after doing a restore to Factory settings.

I bought an iPad from someone and they didnt restore it to factory settings. So I went to general settings on the iPad. I selected erase memory and rest settings. It has been running for about 20 hours. Is this normal and if not ,what do I do? Thanks

No, a restore to factory setting takes but a few minutes. So something is wrong. I would force quit the iTunes app and disconnect the iPad from the computer.
Then run Apple Software Update on your PC and make sure that you are using the most up-to-date version of the iTunes app. If Software Update shows new versions of both iTunes and QuickTime, do not install them together. Windows users report issues with this, especially with XP. Install QuickTime first. Restart your PC. Then install iTunes second and restart your PC.
While doing the above, try to fully reset the iPad. Press the Power button and start the iPad. Then press & hold the Home and Power buttons together for 10+ seconds, ignoring the red power-off slider, until you see the Apple logo appear.
With iTunes up-to-date, connect the iPad to the PC and try a factory restore again.
Let us know what happens. BTW, is this iPad 1 still under warranty?

  • HT201263 After attempting to restore my iPhone several times on two different laptops, I have not success.  My iPhone is locked with a passcode and I must enter it.  The wrong passcode is what disabled my iPhone.  What can I do?

I cannot restore my iPhone after several attempts on two different laptops.  This is the message, "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a passcode.  You must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."  I don't have that option on my  iPhone because I locked myself out, it reads "iPhone is disabled, connect to iTunes" what can I do?

Place your phone in DFU mode (search Google) and restore.  You will lose all data on the phone.

  • IPad frozen when trying to restore factory settings

Tried to restore factory settings and iPad froze all the screen shows is the little circle going round and round can anyone help

    Try a reset again.
If a reset doesn't work, try and force iPad into Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, slide to turn off.
    2. Connect USB cable to computer
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune (make sure you have the newest version of iTune)
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

  • Restoring earlier version of document in mac

accidentally saved blank page over document I was doing.  need to restore (time machine not working).  how do i find earlier saved version of word doc?
using microsoft office 2008 word software.

    Hi Preeti,
I hope that the following information could be useful for you:
    1. We need to display the document having latest version of changable status when CV02N is run (irrespective of the document version entered). Similarly when CV03N is run then document having latest version of released status should be displayed.
Here I think an implementation of BADI DOCUMENT_MAIN01 with method BEFORE_READ_DATA or AFTER_READ_DATA could be useful. With this mehtods you should be enabled to control which version of a document info record is displayed in CV02N or CV03N.
    2. Do we get the change history of the document? i.e. time of chaneg and what changes were done? I just found status log.
The changes of a document info record could be displayed by using the menu 'Environment' >> 'Display Changes' in CV02N or CV03N transaction. This works if you have set the flag 'Change Docs' in transaction DC10 for the document type.
    3. Is there any way in which we can have indicators for invalid versions of documents?
For this there is a menu entry called 'Versions' in menu "Extras". This entry lists up all existing versions and highlights the current one.
    Best regards,
    Christoph
