Ipad & google docs

use my ipad daily with my PE students to record steps to google doc. I have to log in everyday on some ipads others stay logged in. Is there something in settings that will keep me logged in all the time?

The problem of not being able to edit rich text isn't limited just to Google docs -- I think it extends to any site that uses the rich text control. E.g., Google's blogger tool allows you to enter plain text ("Edit HTML"), but not formatted text ("Compose"). The website provider that my school also uses provides a rich text control for entering content; it also doesn't work w/ the iPad, but the plain text version of the control does. I understand that this is because Apple's mobile browser does not support the "contentEditable" tag.
This leads me to see this as a shortcoming with Apple's software, not a Google issue.
I agree that this is a major shortcoming w. the iPad. I could never recommend the iPad as a classroom solution without support for Google Docs via Safari.
I have seen references to contentEditable support being in OS 4.0, but I don't think that will be available for the iPad until this Fall.

Most full featured word processor? (table editing, google docs) and webdav on the ipad

Hi All,
So I have had a frustrating time trying to add rows to a table in a word processing document on Google Docs. Are there any word processors that support this? Quickoffice and Documents to Go do not as of this writing. (May 26th, 2011.) at least not that I can determine.
Does Office2HD support this feature? Do any of the word processors?
My current thoughts/what Apple needs to do/
Currently I am thinking about buying Pages and then using Goodreader to open the file in pages, and then saving the pages document to idisk/webdav and then moving it to google docs from idisk/webdav using Goodreader (though it appears you can use Readdledocs too.)
According to the makers of Docsportal, if Pages supported Open With, I could Open With Docsportal and it would be uploaded. Alternatively, Docsportal could simply add idisk or webdav support, but I can understand why they are waiting for Apple to get their act together.
Currently, I have discovered that Quickoffice does support mounting quickoffice as a drive as does goodreader. Docs2Go does not support this feature. This is a nice way to get files in and out. The Mac will support WebDAV for the Mac filesystem as of Lion allowing programs like goodreader or readdledocs to connect to it.

I viewed the Office2HD Help file and it seems to support table creation.

Office2HD as mentioned elsewhere in this forum supports Google Docs.
It does also support WebDAV (mounting as an external drive.) The help file mentions that it now allows you to navigate using the cursor or arrow keys.

How can I open a google doc on IPAD 2?

Created a google doc presentation. The presentation slides open, but slides cannot be edited. How can I edit the slides using the IPAD2? Otherwise, is there some application for IPAD that can be used like a Google Doc? Thank you.

After you open the Google Docs presentation, there should be a bar at the bottom of the screen. Select 'Actions' and then choose 'Edit'. You'll get a message saying that the browser doesn't support all options, or something to that effect -- just ignore it.

There are plenty of methods for putting a resume online, where a potential employer can download it, though admittedly the iPad is less flexible in this regard than a computer. Nobody ever has claimed otherwise. However, I get the feeling you're not actually looking for an answer to anything, and you're just posting to complain. Note that that is a violation of the Apple Support Communities Terms of Use, which you agreed to when signing up for an account here.
I wish I had gotten a Galaxy Tab.
Then sell your iPad and go buy one. You will have no problems whatsoever finding a buyer.

IPad Air with Google Docs app

I have an iPad Air with the Google Doc App loaded. In creating a Google Document why is it impossible to SINGLE space within a document???? What is the reasoning why the app does not allow for SINGLE spacing???

Thanks for your efforts but by threshold to wait and have Google Doc developers answer it is short...... I deleted that app and loaded Documents Free by Savy Soda. It works fine as a document writer allowing for single spacing and many more options......

There's iOS apps for iOS which is what iPods, iPads, and iPhones use. Then there are Mac Apps (which is a different store) which is what run on a computer with OSX.

Problem opening Google docs after upgrade to Safari 7.1

I was using these spreadsheets and documents just fine until the last upgrade to 7.1
Now the pages start to load and then flash on and off, will not hold on the screen and finally display an error message: "A problem repeatedly occurred with __docname___" The only option given is to "Reload Page" which results in the same error message.
How can I get back into working with these Google docs?

Google Docs doesn't wort

Here is something that doesn't seem to work with iPad Safari:
Google Docs.
You can open a spreadsheet and do limited editing, but can't scroll around anywhere.
For documents, I can't seem to edit at all.

No it doesn't have to do with flash... I dont know why it wont scroll but I wouldn't worry about it because GOOGLE will come out with something to fix that.

Can't open google docs since iOS 6

Since I upgraded to iOS 6 on my iPad and iPhone, I can no long open Google Docs on Google Drive. I have been using QuickOffice Pro HD for a couple years. When I went to open files that I had opened days earlier, I get an error message. I thought the problem was with QuickOffice, but I loaded Office2 HD and get the same message. I can still access Word Documents on Google Drive using QuickOffice. I can access the Google Docs using CloudOn, but that program saves the Google Doc as a Word Doc, so now I have two documents with the same name and I don't really want to go back through and convert everything. I'm guessing there's something about the upgrade that is causing this problem. Anybody else having this problem. The support forum for QuickOffice is enraged, but I'm not sure they're the culprit. Here is the pic of what happens why he opens the file on iOS 6. It does not go any further. I open it fine with no problems, I am on iOS 5.1.1

Huge technical problem, can't access google docs to save or edit.

I'm sure this is just a bug or me just missing the button, as I know apple wouldn't leave out the access to the largest cloud service in the world.
Please help as our practice is stuck not being able to work with our files.

It seems that Google Docs will not work properly on the iPad because it thinks you are using Mobile Safari. You can view but not edit.

I cant download docs from google docs

Hi community, i am using Documents App and i have a Google Docs account.
I make a .txt in my pc with windows, and i upload it to Google Docs.
When i try to download the .txt file to my iPad (using the native Documents "G" connector) the preview option is avaible, but the "Download" option is disabled!
This not occurs when i make an iPad .txt file and upload it...
Why?

Google docs - screwed

Anyone figured out how to get google docs to work? Still can't edit docs on the iPad.
Would seem that changing the iPad safari identifier would fix the problem.

Yes, I have office pro as well and it is very good. I have no problems with it at all. Creates and edits all types just as I'd expect.
The disadvantage however, is that you lose the google docs functionality of sharing and collaboration, making a spreadsheet into a form, and those types of functions that go above and beyond simple document editing. It's those features that make google docs an attractive alternative to M$ Office.
The school I teach at uses google education, which includes docs. If neither google nor apple fail to address this issue with safari, my district will not buy ipads at all. And right now, this "bug" prevents me from using my ipad for the single most useful task at school.

Safari and Google Docs

Anyone been successful in scrolling google docs within the ipad safari browser? Scroll works fine on my iphone within safari/google docs. For some reason I can not seem to get it to work on the ipad (tried two fingers instead of one). Any tips? Any luck?
Second, I can not add data to google doc pages... anyone had any luck there?

I'm sure Google will adapt their online apps to work with the iPad. It's probably just confused by iPad's user-agent and feeding the wrong version of the online app.

Who Uses Google Docs?

I just purchased an iPad and am looking at using Google Docs... I also have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro... I am a college student and am interested in the syncing capabilities of Google Docs...
How efficient is Google Docs? Pluses? Minuses? If you use it currently, would you recommend it? If not, what do you use/recommend?

Sync notes with google docs

Possible?
I uses notes on my IPAD and MBA. If it could sync with googles docs it would be perfect

I have the same message as well but mine appeared after I did a software upgrade and it failed then I had to manually download the last installed software on my phone as iTunes couldnt restore my phone. Since this happened my iTunes has also said this "bundle" thing and I havent been game enough to sync any notes, contacts or calendars. I dont know why its there and how to get rid of it. I dont know if its been caused by a virus etc on either my phone or iTunes, does any one know what the source of this is? I can only assume that doing a full delete of iTunes from my computer may fix the problem, but then if I do this and it does work does that mean that I lose all of the info on my phone as well as whats in iTunes the next time I sync?? I need help as my work calendars are no longer on my phone.
