IPad has photo duplicates

My iPad worked great until I upgraded to iOS7. Now in iPhoto I have sups of the same photo
And the trash can is graded out which cannot be used.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott C

Adding my name to this too...seems a pervasive problem...this has happened before and Apple sorted it out eventually with an update...very annoying though... It seems to be only ipad related as my desktop and iphone are fine...

When my ipad has photos on it and I connect it to my computer it is initially recognised as a camera before my computer crashes. Resulting in me having to reboot the system again and going through the disc checks to resolve errors. This has happened on several occasions. On previous occasions when I have not had any photos on my ipad it has connected to my computer without any problem. Is there a way of solving this problem without having to remove all of my photos from my ipad.

Being recognized as a camera is normal. Your computer sees the DCIM folder and doesn't know the difference between a 'real' camera and an iPad.
One way to stop it could be to tell windows explorer what to do. When you plug your iPad in do you see a little pop up window listing things to do with the device? If so, there should be an option to 'do nothing', which means you tell your computer 'hey, ignore this device'. Your iTUnes will still work when you connect them, the windows protocols that search for images, etc. should just let it be and hopefully stop the crashing.

  • IPad/iPhone photo duplicates

I have a iphone, ipad and Mac (with iPhoto). When I sync them and go to photos on the iphone or ipad, the photos are duplicated when I go to Photos (Collections) on either the iphone or ipad.  How do I set this up so I don't have duplications?

  • Original iPad has photos?

When I try to sync my original iPad, and iPhoto appears prior to initiating sync, it shows the iPad having photos on it even though, of course, it doesn't have a camera.  Then when I sync it I get a large number of black boxes in addition to some photos in Photos on the iPad.  This just started happening after I installed ios5. I thought that 5.1 might fix problem but it doesn't.   Should I try and restore the iPad?
Also, iPhone sync (without ios5) works fine.

Thanks for replying. I don't think the thumbnails are the problem because the sync with iPhone (without ios5) works just fine. The problem with the iPad began as soon as I "upgraded" to ios5, hence I believe ios5 is the source of the problem. I just don't know what to do about it.
I think something similar happened to me.  After the upgrade to iOS5, I noticed that iPhoto was open, as if there were photos to import, but nothing was.  I disconnected my iPad, closed iPhoto, then connected the iPad again.  iPhoto opened, but nothing to import.
I then disconnected my iPad, took a screen shot, then connected the iPad again.  iPhoto opened and showed the new photo to import, as expected.  I choose to "Import all", then selected "Delete photos" after the import was done.  If there was a "hidden" photo, it seems to have gotten deleted after that.  Now iPhoto doesn't open unless there are new photos, as expected.  So give that a try, can't hurt.

  • I have photos on my iPad (the first apple device in our household) and then added an iMac and a macbook air. How do I get all of my photos on all devices. Myoriginal iPad has images not on my 2 newer devices and my 2 new devices do not share the same phot

I have photos on my iPad (the first apple device in our household) and then added an iMac and a Macbook air to our network. We have an airport 2TB back up device.  How do I get all of my photos on all devices. My original iPad has images that my 2 newer devices do not have on iphoto.

My original iPad has images that my 2 newer devices do not have on iphoto.
How are the images stored on your original iPad? Are they in the camera roll, in events downloaded using the camera connection kit, or are they in albums synced to your ipad from a computer?
If the photos are in the camera roll or in events downloaded from a camera, you can transfer them to your iMac and MBA by directly connecting the iPad using USB. Then you can download the photos to iPhoto like from a camera.
Only, if your photos have been synced to the iPad from a computer, you will have to save them first to the camera roll; then you can download them by connecting the iPad via USB.
What IOS version has your iPad?
For new photos you might consider using Photo Stream to transfer your photos between the devices.

  • My iPad has been syncing for 18   hours since I am trying to do the iCloud thing.  What happens if I stop the back up process? Getting tired of waiting for it to get done.  Could this be caused by the fact that I have 5gb of photos on the iPad ?

My  iPad has been syncing for 18 hours / back up process since I tried to work with the iCloud.  Some items ie., contacts are synced to my new iPhone 4si and also books from the app store and also kindle stuff is okay.  No photos yet.  iPad has 5 gb of photos on it.  What happens if I stop the back up/sync process before it completes? Does it mess up my iPad??? Thanks

My iPad has deleted 700 photos off the photo stream on that device.  The pictures are still on my Mac iPhoto in the photo stream.  How do I get them to reappear on the iPad?

When did this deletion happen?  Which version of iOS 8 do you have on your iPad? Depending on your settings you may not see My Photo Stream on the iPad any longer.  With iOS 8 "My Photo Stream" will only show on the iPad, if you did not enable iCloud Photo Library (Beta).

  • I have the Flickr account for my photos, hoping to free up space on my ipad. But the available storage on the iPad has not changed? What's up?

II've recently purchased Flickr app for my photos, hoping to freeup space on ipad. But the used/available on iPad has not changed. Why?

Read this Apple document about the iCloud Photo Library: iCloud Photo Library FAQ - Apple Support
The following is from that document:
Can I use iCloud Photo Library to save space on my device?
iCloud Photo Library automatically keeps all your photos and videos in the original, high-resolution version. Follow these steps to choose how you store your photos and videos on your device:
In iOS, tap Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera, then select a storage setting.
In OS X, click Photos > Preferences > iCloud, then select a storage setting.
If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. All of your original, full-resolution photos and videos are stored in iCloud while device-size versions are kept on your device. You can download the original photos and videos over Wi-Fi or cellular when you need them
The bottom line is that you'll still have some copy of your photos on your hard drive but they can be smaller, optimized versions.

I have a problem, my wife has an ipad with photos , emails etc etc, she has recently got herself a new iPad Air, has now been using that for two or more months, more photos (new) more emails and other stuff. What she wants to do is get all she wants from ipad 1 to new ipad without finishing up with 2 of everything which happen on previous occasion. I realise that she needs to tidy up ipad 1 first and get rid of thousands of emails etc. I need help.
    Thanks kiwihdrider

Hi yes that works well when the new ipad hasn't been used. Trouble new one has been used for two months or more, has lots photos email etc etc. I am worried that these will go. When we did iPhone thru same process finished up with two of most things pics and emails. The emails alone were over 2 thousand and wife reluctant to delete them all. I would and just sort pics. Any other ideas

  • My IPad has my I cloud account set up but I'm trying to gt my husbands details up as his lost his iPhone 5 and needs his contacts and photos off it

My iPad has my iCloud account on and need to gt my partners account derails as his lost his phone
How do I do it from my iPad ??

He could access his contacts by signing into his account on icloud.com.  You wouldn't need to sign into his iCloud account on your iPad.  If you want to anyway, you would need to save any photo stream photos that you wanted to keep to your camera roll, then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, choose Delete from My iPad and provide the password when prompted (your data will still be in iCloud), then sign back in with your partner's ID.  (This will only allow you to access photo stream photos from the last 30 days as older photos are no longer in iCloud.)  When you're done, repeat the process, deleting your partner's account and data from your iPad, then sign back in with your ID to recover your iCloud data.
Camera roll photos are included in the iCloud backup and can be recovered by restoring the backup to a replacement iPhone (they cannot be recovered by restoring the backup to your iPad).

  • My ipad 2 photos has only 3 icons, i dont have faces and events icon? icon for faces, My ipad 2 photos has only 3 icons, i dont have faces and events icon? icon for faces

My ipad 2 photos has only 3 icons, i dont have faces and events icon, and how can i make an album.. Ive got 800 photos in one album..

I would add to King Penguin's comment and say that Places also only works with photos that are tagged with geographical information (knows as geotagging to us photographers).  I've done this with my photos and it's really cool.  You basically tap the Place tab in Photos and a map of the world is displayed with pins showing the areas of where the photos were taken.  Touch on a pin and you get the photos associated with that area.  Neat-o!

  • My iPad has the iTunes logo and USB cable on the screen. Can I still back up my music and photos?

My iPad has the Itunes logo and USB cable on screen. Can I still back up my files?

If you haven't already done so, its unlikely.
You can try holding both the home and power buttons at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.

  • My iPad has been stolen and I would like to download the backup to my iPhone. Is this possible?

My iPad has been stolen and I backed it up. Where and how can I find the back up? And can I download that backup to my iPhone?

You can only restore the backup to another iOS device.  You can't download it to your computer.  Also be aware that Apple reserves the right to delete iCloud backups after 180 days of inactivity so make sure you do this before that.  Also, you can't restore camera roll photos from a backup to an iPad.  They would have to be restored to another iPhone, or iPod touch.

  • When syncing multiple Google calendars to iPad, switching event to different calendar on iPad creates a duplicate in Google. Ideas?

When syncing multiple Google calendars to iPad, switching event to different Google sub-calendar using iPad creates a duplicate in Google.
Using Google account with the Exchange setup on an iPad mini. iOS up to date. I have a secondary calendar in my Google account for some appointments, and when I create the event on the iPad and it defaults to my main Google calendar, changing the event to the secondary calendar caused the following:
    1) at first, the event totally disappeared from my iPad. Scary! Reappeared when I went into Gcal on the web, opened the event to edit, and re-saved. Phew.
    2) Failing to re-create error #1, I switched a new event from primary to secondary calendar, and it then appears correct on iPad, but is duplicated on the web. The duplicate remains even after deleting the changed event on iPad, refreshing Gcal, etc.
Just curious if anyone else is having this problem or has discovered a workaround or fix.

When you open the Calendar app, tap the button at the top-left corner (Calendars).  That should reveal all the calendars you have available, and you can select/ un-select any or all of them.
If you don't see your 2nd GMail calendar listed, go into Settings/ Mail/ (account name) and make sure you've turned the calendar ON for this account.

    OK Vicky, good clues...
    See if this helps...
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over. See if there are duplicates, should be one for Incoming & one for Outgoing.
Resetting your keychain in Mac OS X...
If Keychain First Aid finds an issue that it cannot repair, or if you do not know your keychain password, you may need to reset your keychain.
