IPad home button not functioning?

I got my iPad 2 just a month ago and now the home button refuse to function properly. I used to press it hard with all my strenght before it can work. Please how can I solve this problem.

Home button calibration
1. Open a pre-installed app, such as Contacts
2. Press and hold the sleep/wake button until the red slider appears
3. Immediately release the sleep/wake button; press and hold the Home button.
4. Hold until the red slider disappears.
If the calibration doesn't work try blowing air thru' the 40 pin docking port.

I am facing the problem on my ipad mini 32G home button
The version should be ios 7
When pressing the home button, it has no function at all. Please advise me what is the solution for it! if I press the power button, it has functioned, therefore I got no idea why the home button totally cant work as usual
    Please help
your kind attention and feed is highly apprecited!

    Try calibrating the home button.
Open a stock app like Calendars or Notes.
Hold the power button until the red slider switch appears.
When it appears release the power button and press the home button until the home screen appears.
Hopefully your home button now works.

  • IPad push button not functioning, why?

Along with issues that began with running my desktop and iPad through iTunes Match, I am now receiving an error message about inadequate local storage.  So, I deleted all my foldered emails, one-fourth of my songs, all my TV shows, all my movies, all my videos, and a handful of apps. Still get the message.
At the same time, I have another (new) problem:
The round push button at the base of the iPad:
Will not power on the iPad
Will not let me shift from application to application (can only be accomplished by holding down the power button and doing a reset -- although iPad stays stuck in whichever is the first application chosen)
Everything worked appropriately and all songs played before iTunes Match.  Since subscribing to iTunes Match, I am "benefitting" by having:
    unplayable songs
receiving messages about insufficient local storage
    the non-functioning main button
Can anyone help me out of this quagmire?
    C/C

Reset your iPad to hopefully get the Home button working. If that doesn't help make an appointment at an Apple Store to have the iPad checked out.
First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Back and home buttons not functioning

    Hi,
A few days ago, I noticed that the back button on my Lumia 920 failed to respond at times and I'd have to use the home button to escape out of whatever I was doing. Then yesterday, both the back and home buttons failed to work. The search button is still functioning but the phone isn't really usable as the only way to exit an app is to turn the phone off.
I did a power cycle, a hard reset, and then I returned the phone to factory settings, which put it in a "gears" situation for about 6 hours until I finally got it to boot up again. That didn't fix the button issue.
Nokia says, since I had the screen locally replaced several months ago,  the phone is no longer under warranty. They wil not repair it at their service center in Texas and my only recourse is to send it to Palco.
I spoke to Palco and they are unable to give me any information as to whether the phone is repairable. They just want me to spend money to send it to Alabama, give then $15 + shipping to diagnose it - they say it will take 5 - 10 days just to diagnose the problem. I can't be without a phone for 2 weeks if I don't even know if it can be repaired. I'm angry that the only authorized repair center in the U.S. is in Alabama and they have no techs you can speak to on the phone. It's really the worst customer service I've ever seen.
Has anybody else ever experienced this issue? Were you able to get your phone repaired? I am going to see the guy that replaced the screen for me, but when I spoke to him on the phone he thought it was odd that 1 of the buttons still worked and wasn't at all convinced that he could fix it. He's never seen this problem before.
    Thanks for any guidance,
    HB

  • Home button not working on iPad 2 after iOS5.1.1

I got iPad 2 updated with ions 5.1.1
It worked fine for a week and now the home button does not work. I followed all posts here to reset, restore etc. but nothing helps. This is already a replacement iPad I got for my previous non functional iPad 2 which had battery issues, which apple swapped in store last week.
    Any advice ?

    Update -
Called apple support and did not get steps to try and was asked to visit apple store. Went to apple store and since the problem is intermittent they did nothing.
    Now the problem is back.
Also, I notice there are lot of Low memory diagnostics logs which I thik may be leading to home button not working BUT that iOS should handle as part of memory management. I restarted iPad 2 and still memory issue/ home button not working which seems weird
I am really disappointed and not sure how to get this addressed.
    Apple, please help!

  • The wi-fi button on my iPad 2 is not functioning.  I have tried resetting the network, worked for 5 minutes. Am not able to connect to internet to reset to factory.  What else can I do?

The wi-fi button on my iPad 2 is not functioning.  I have tried resetting the network, worked for 5 minutes. Am not able to connect to internet to reset to factory.  What else can I do?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at
    http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Ipad 3rd gen home button not working

any suggestions? The iPad is out of warranty. It has been not working for sometime. I've kept in clean, great codition. It is definitely a bug. I am annoyed that apple did not have a recall as I see many people having this same issue. I have an original 1st gen iPad that we use for a TV remote and there is never been an issue with the home button not responding.
    PLease help!

Enable AssistiveTouch which floats a virtual button on-screen which can mimic all hardware buttons on the device:
    Settings>General>Accessibility>AssistiveTouch: turn ON
*Note* If your Sleep/Wake (power) button is not functioning and you power off the device using the AssistiveTouch panel (tap the on-screen AssistiveTouch button, Device>Lock Screen (tap and hold to power off)), you will NOT be able to power on the device with the Sleep/Wake (power) button (since it's not functioning). To power on the device in this case, you will need to connect the powered off device either to a PC's USB port or an external charger to power the device back on.
