Apple releases iBooks 1.1 update for iPhone, iPad
After rolling out the iOS 4 update on Monday, Apple followed up with one of the things it had touted as a key feature of the new OS. The company’s e-book reading app, iBooks, has been updated to run on the iPhone and iPod touch.
Released as a 1.1 update, iBooks is now a universal app for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad; it debuted on the latter device back in April. This latest version brings a number of new features to the reading experience, including bookmarks, the ability to highlight passages, and note-taking capabilities. All of these annotations can stay in sync across your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, too.
iBooks 1.1 also lets you choose between a sepia or white page background, and Georgia is available as a new font. You can choose between left or fully justified text layouts; you also have the ability to increase the font size even larger than before.
Just like it did with the iPad, Apple has made Winnie the Pooh available as a free download to iPhone users who install iBooks.
iBooks requires iPhone OS 3.2 or greater, and it is available now for free in the App Store.

Actions defined in Keynote are supported in iPad iBooks and not in iPad Keynote itself...

When I use actions in the build of slides produced with Keynote on my Mac, they work well on my iPad when I integrate this Keynote presentation in iBooks Author using the Keynote Widget.
But strangely enough actions used in a Keynote produced on my Mac, are not supported and ignored when I want to run that presentation in Keynote on my iPad.
So there are actually some Mac Keynote features that work in iPad's iBooks but not on iPad's Keynote.
Can anybody explain these inconsistencies between Apple apps please?

I came across this discussion and thought I could share something that I discovered today. This may help so here goes:
When creating a keynote presentation on the MAC OSX (Hyperlinks ONLY) (I use Lion 10.7.4), then sending to brand new iPad (Version 3) via iTunes, many of the Hyperlinks did not work as well. Heres what I found out by process of elimination, and you might try.
It turns out the Hyperlinks DO NOT WORK on the iPad when the hyperlinked item is part of a "Group" of items. The odd part is if you ungroup the items and then select ONLY the one item to be hyperlinked, then go to the tools, advanced, "Interactive hyperlinks" the hyperlink created on the Mac already shows up correctly, becuase it was there the whole time ! Bizzare, dont you think. For some reason Keynote on an iPad does NOT like any of the hyperlinks to be part of "grouped" items with any other items or they DON'T work !
MY solution is this (A slight paint, but it worked 100%) Create your entire presenation, then make a copy version of the file, then enter the new version and make sure ALL hyperlinked items are ungrouped. Then resend to iTunes, and import into Keynote on iPad and Voila !!

You will have to go via your computer's iTunes. Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases in iTunes (that should copy epubs and/or PDFs that are in the iBooks app, not just actual ibooks), and if using a Mac with Mavericks or Yosemite on it then do File > Move Books From iTunes in its iBooks app. You can then email them or add them to Dropbox from your computer.

Open the App Store app, go to the Featured pane, swipe to the bottom, tap the Apple ID and sign out. Tap again and sign in with the Apple ID of your choosing.

I am having the same problem and it is even bigger.
When opening a 1-page PDF in iBooks and sending it via mail it is sent inline as preview, but the recipient cannot open the file anymore. Also on iPad and iPhone there is no "open in" possible.
Somehow the mail app does destroy the file. What is going wrong?

Your purchases are tied to your Apple ID. If you bought all of the books with the old ID then AFAIK you will have to continue to use that ID in order to continue to sync those books to the iPad.
You have to update the app with the old ID so I don't see how you could keep the books with the new ID. Maybe I am wrong about this, but someone else will chime in I'm sure and correct me if I am wrong.

IPad mini iOS 8.1.1 - iBooks and App Store not opening

since the last update (iOS8.1.1) my iPad mini is unable to load iBook and the App Store. Basically, when I try opening them, they remain in the white, initial screen, like if they are loading. I tried to turn it off and on again and nothing changes. Thank you!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with the most recent iOS 8 update. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature and scope of the issues you are describing. If you are having issues launching multiple apps or services on your iPad after a recent update to iOS 8.1.1, you may want to first try resetting your device:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If you are still having issues after the reset, you may want to make sure you have a current backup of your data in iTunes, then try restoring your iPad to factory settings and testing it in that default condition to see if the issues persist before restoring the apps or your data. The original iPad can't be updated past 5.1.1; you may be able to get compatible application versions by downloading them to a computer and then going to the Purchased screen on the device.

Using the same Apple id and Password you should be able to download purchased apps without being charged again.
I download to an iPad/iPad2/iPhone3 & iPhone4 with no problem.

At this point you will only be able to download whatever is available in the Apps Store in the iTunes Store for India. I doubt very much iBooks or iWorks will be available until the iPad has actually been released for India.

Problems Importing pdfs into iBook and sync to iPad air 2

Is there a solution to what appears to be a widespread problem within the community? That of not being able to import books in pdf form into iBooks and subsequently syncing with an iPad Air 2 running iOS 8.1. This seems to be specific to pdfs not 'purchased' from iTunes. In the past I have had all my software manuals available on my iPad, synced with my iMac, all working happily and would dearly love to return this situation.
I then upgraded to iOS 8. Big mistake. iTunes on the iMac (OS 10.6.8) does not sync pdfs to new iPad.
Try syncing from MacBookPro (OS 10.10) still no luck.
There are suggestions to use iTunes, but there is no longer an option to view 'Books' in iTunes.
Can anybody offer a work around until such times as the collective 'apple digit' is removed and a not so 'minor bug' is fixed?
Are Apple working on this problem or even aware of it?

Maybe I didn't explain myself very well earlier. When I am working in iBooks, having control clicked multiple files and selected 'Open With iBooks' to get the pdfs into iBooks, (as per your suggestion) a click on a pdf icon initiates nothing, a double click causes the pdf to open in Preview. This I can achieve from the Finder.
The reason I haven't tried to sync from the MBP is that I rely on iPad iBooks as a reference source. At the moment it is working but not the way I want it to (Sync via iMac 10.8.6). When Ibooks on the MBP is finally OK, then I will try.

I had this same problem. Tried everything the internet said including a full restore. Which was terrible. Nothing worked until.....go to general...reset....reset all settings.
You had to go back in and reset anything you customized afterwards, however it does not allow the store to load. Thanks!
