IPad iCloud Back-Up
Hi Guys,
My iPad has not backed-up to iCloud for over 6 weeka now, just keep getting the message now and again telling me how long its been since the back up...but if i try doing it, an error message comes up....iPhone works fine, but for some reason the iPad wont back up....any ideas? i've tried re-syncing with iTunes and selecting the "Back-Up to iCloud" box but still wont work...
Thanks,
Sad to say this flakiness continues 3 years after you had the problem.
I have iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 4S and iPad 3, and latest Yosemite and iTunes (with all its annoying new UI/UX) on my MacBook Pro Retina.
It backs up my iPhone (important info etc. using about 1.5GB) in iCloud but it does not do so for iPad. I see iCloud selected, I start a backup, it takes a while, then I see it has switched to Backup To This Computer.
I already had the nightmare of having to restore my iPhone 4S because NONE of the regular backups even on This Computer worked when I went to restore the phone when iOS 8 rendered it unbootable. Each setting and password had to be redone, and my 1200 apps re-put into folders. I would hate knowing that the standard solution to Apple's buggy software is to spend hours restoring every device after every major update.
Imran
PS This is a series of messages I see for iTunes in Console...

My husband and I use the same apple ID. I started using a new iPhone and deleted his contacts from my phone which has also deleted them from his phone. He hasn't backed up his phone but my iPad is backed to iCloud. Can I retrieve the contacts from this?
In preferences turn on iTunes sharing in iTunes preferences and keep iTunes turned on in both accounts. Or better yet put the iTunes library on the main HD rather than in an account and set the location of the library to that location in iTunes preferences.

My daughter's iPad is backing up to my iCloud, which is how we set it up originally. Now she has her own iPhone with her own iCloud. How can I get her iPad to back up to her own iCloud? Her iPad is taking up 3.4MB of my 5MB. I need my space back!

I suppose ya. If she deletes my account from her iPad it won't affect my account, right?
Yes, that's correct, it won't affect your account or your devices in any way.
Use the delete account button in the iCloud settings.
Then enter her iCloud details in the new screen that appears and log in. She should then be returned to the screen above but with her Apple ID at the top, enable the services she wishes to use and then tap the storage & backup option and ensure that iCloud backup is turned on.

I share an Apple ID with someone but we are now on iOS8 and getting each others messages on our iphones and ipad. How can I split the account safely as well as protect icloud backed up data?
Use different Apple IDs for iMessage (and also FaceTime) to avoid getting each others text messages (and FaceTime calls). One of you should go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive (and Settings>FaceTime), tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID. You can continue to shared the same ID for the iTunes store and other services.

ICloud backed up my iPad yesterday at 3:00 pm. After that I inadvertently deleted an app called Good Reader which contained a lot of data. iCloud still shows the app, how do I get it back to my iPad?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
To recover completely you'd need to restore from a back up that contained the app data. Alternatively you can just restore the app by redownloading it.
You can re-download content purchased from the app store using the purchased option which is revealed by tapping the updates option at the bottom of the screen of the App store app on your iOS device. -
How do I retrieve data from iCloud back on to my iPad
How can I retrieve data off iCloud back onto my iPad after a full reset. Had to reset to get my FaceTime to work after the new upgrade.

Have you checked that contacts syncing is switched on in settings > iCloud and that in the contacts app, the iCloud account is checked under the groups setting. -
How can I with my iCloud back from my iPhone and iPad to a new Mac?
How can I swith the iCloud back up from my iPad and Iphone to a different Mac?
Your Apple service centre is very good.. they mostly refuse to help in any way.
You need a USB to sata converter cable and power supply or a USB disk holder.. SATA type.. although that is pretty universal now.. they are only a few dollars from most large computer stores or ebay. Plug the usb drive into the computer and copy the contents over to the TC. using ethernet will help btw.. if you only have the air buy a USB to ethernet or Thunderbolt to ethernet (if you have the latest one).. they are available from apple at reasonable prices.
Then you can copy the sparsebundle across..

BUT I have to say I don't recommend it.. I think you are better starting with a new backup and keep the old disk as an archive.. -
Hi, Last time I synced my IPad with my PC, it (unknown to me) migrated all my PC "Favorites" (about 100 folders) to the ICloud.
I have searched and so far been unable to find out how to recover my "Favorites" from the ICloud back to my PC. Any advice would
be appreciated. Thank you. What did you do to get them synced to the Cloud. Would that procedure help me get my favorites synced to my iPad2?

Please see the bold. If you're out of icloud storage, then you won't be able to backup to icloud unless you purchase more storage, but yet you said you backup to icloud.
If you really did backup to icloud no data would be loss - sounds to me that it didn't backup since you had no more free icloud storage space.

im having trouble with my ipad mini in regards with the icloud back up notification; if i press "ok" it doesnt dis appear, i couldn open my ipad/turn off because of this notification; whats the best way to get rid of this? please help
Have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I have an Icloud back up error. It will not let me shut off the device or do anything. It is locked. The error is: This iPad has not been backed up for 2 weeks. Backups happen when it is plugged in, locked or connected to Wi-Fi.
Please help me get this working again.
Thank you.

Hold Sleep and Home buttons for 10 seconds until your iPad restarts, so you will be able to use the iPad again. Finally, open Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup to make a manual backup -
Hello, I can´t active my iPad because appears the following mesage: "Not Enough Storage, This iPad cannot backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage available. You can manage your storage in settings". I did click on Settings but still locked.
Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone should restart. This will have no affect on your data.

You can manage your storage in setting" but the problem is my iPad screen is freezed .I can do any thing about the setting, Can I change my iPad setting from my computer?
Reset it by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release. You won't lose any data by doing this.

Years ago when I deleted photos from a library iphoto lost the location of other photos in the library. Is this still the case? Thanks, Ralph
