Ipad II with black screen

Hi all,
I have a 64GB 3G and WIFI Ipad II that is just over a year old. The screen went black yesterday and has not returned. It responds to touch on screen or home button by becomeing a lighter black/grey. I have tried charging it over night and when I plug in cord makes normal sound. And I tried resetting by holding two buttons no apple icon appears.. would love any suggestions!

It sounds like you have even tried the Recovery mode as linked in this article.
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Not sure if you have another computer to try to restore with. If not, it may be time for the last step.
6. If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

IOS 4.2 update an hour later iPad unrsponsive with black screen

Hi,
I updated today my iPad to iOS 4.2.1, everything worked fine for about an hour, then suddenly the iPad got a black screen and is completely unresponsive.
It had more than 75% power when I did the update so can't imagine it's without power. I have tried to reboot it plugged in for recharging but no respinse.
My iMac does not detect the device.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Any ideas on how to progress or should I just give up and turn it in for service?

Same thing happened to me just a few minutes ago. Hold the power button on the top and the home button at the same time until the Apple appears on your screen. It will prob force you to do a restore...but at least it's not dead! Itunes will restore everything that was there from the last time you plugged in. Hope this works for you. I'm headed to the Apple store tomorrow to have it checked out just in case. Will post if I find out anything else.

I understand that your iPhone is not booting up past the Apple logo. In this situation, I would recommend working through the troubleshooting steps located in the attached article.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
If your device gets stuck during startup
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

My ipad has a black screen as if it was turning on, then it changes to the home screen for 5 seconds than it changes back

Well my ipad ran outta charge and I put it on overnight! I started it up and went on an app (clash of clans) Then the app shut and the ipad had a black screen with the white swirly thing then it went to the homepage for five seconds but I couldnt click and thing, then it goes in a loop between black and home

Reset iPad

You should really read the manual.
"How do you restore from backup? "
Restore. When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them. What program did you use to import them? Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

QuickTime runs .avi-file with black screen

I've recorded my little daughter with our new digital camera and have loaded it on the computer, but QuickTime run it with black screen and without any sound. clips recorded with my mobile phone are running without any problems.... what can I do?

Macbook pro-Freezes with black screen at start up.

Macbook pro-Freezes with black screen at start up. I've tried inserting the Mac OS X install disc to run the hardware test(Restart and hold down D), But it still does nothing. Just the black screen. Now I can't get the disc out. I've tried holding down the track pad key upon start up but that doesn't work neither.
What do I do??? Please help.

Remove the battery to find your serial number in the battery bay. Then you can look your MBP up on EveryMac.com:

That will give you all the information on your Mac.
This is assuming that you have the MBP with the removable battery and not the unibody. The unibody has different graphic chips.

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

Ipod touch 4G stuck on swirling motion with black screen

So I jailbroke my ipod with absinthe a few days ago and everything has been working fine but today i used an app i downloaded from cydia (cant remember the name) and it started to respring and went on for a long time so restared my ipod and everything but it still came back to the same screen of a swirling motion with black screen after passing the apple logo. I tried restoring the ipod on itunes but an error keeps occuring and it wont allow me to restore. Itunes wont read my ipod either. My ipod will not allow me to do anything. What should I do?

Go elsewhere. Jailbreaking voids the Apple warranty. It also means that you will not get any help from Apple, including from this Apple forum.

Iphone 4s. Phone dies with black screen intermittently. In spite of reboot attempts it wont come back for 10-15 minutes later with reboot. About three times in the last two weeks since IOS6 upgrade. One time the phone felt pretty warm.

You're in luck! Your phone is still covered by the one year Apple warrenty. I would visit your local Apple retail store, or contact Apple over the phone. They should be able to help you out best!

Restoring the BIOS
If it is blinking 3 times it usually indicates memory issue..So you can try reseating the memory modules or try one memory at a time in each slot..

Toshiba sattelite pro ( SPM30 ) problem with black screen and white cursor

I have a toshiba SPM30 from a friend and I couldn't succed to resolve the problem with black screen and white cursor.I can enter in bios using F2 and I can use F12 but is not booting, I have some CD and DVD with Win Xp but it seeams that is not booting.I've traied to change the order in boot order: first CD/DVD and after HDD but still is not working...I saw that a HDD I can see details about it but at CD/DVD I can't see...I think that the CD/DVD is not working( but I can see the light and hear the sounds when I put a bootable CD or DVD)...Please, if someoane can help me......( byt the way I've traied to remove the bios battery and still is not working...)

A system disc can be used for these repair options also, in your case if the DVD drive is not working you can use an external dvd drive if you have one.

Working fine just with black screen

My MacBook Pro is working with black screen and TV out not working.
I am sure Operating System is working fine.
What do you think the problem from?
Is it from the screen or the Motherboard?

How have you verified that the machine is working fine? Are you able to Target Disk the machine and access the data? Or do you have another Mac to use screen sharing?
If the display on the machine and the video out component are both not working this would typically indicate a logic board (motherboard) problem, versus the screen. It's possible that both are problematic, but from a troubleshooting perspective I'd be inclined to point to the logic board versus the LVDS cable.
Given that it's an original MacBook Pro, or rather that's the form you're in, the machine is out of Apple Care but hopefully you have access to a local repair/service center?

Bootup with Black Screen and No Light from Keyboard

I did an update on my Mac tonight and it rebooted. My MacBook Air is set up reboot from bootcamp with Windows 7 Professional. There was the blinking cursor and then the Microsoft loading up green horizontal progress bar. Then the ready to use music was played but the whole screen went out with keyboard having no light. It seems that windows was booted up all right but there is a problem with the screen driver or something. How can I fix this?
I had this problem before when Windows 7 on bootcamp did a recent update about a week ago. The screen went dark - same problem. I went into Mac side to run my latest Parallel version. It booted up Windows & fine but the wimdows was not recognized as genuine. I called Microsoft and got the key to re-actuvate Windows fine with driver updates. Then when I rebooted from bootcamp, Winodws 7 came on all right like I had before windows update.
Now I cannot resolve the second time with black screen as the windows 7 was genuine when I open windows 7 with Parallel on Mac side. I do not know how to fix it now. Please advise and help.

Sounds like you're in the "firmware trap" There were a lot a sites about this but this appears to have most of the info/procedures:

The main trick is to use an external monitor and reinstall the firmware altho' some of the other tricks might help.
