IPad / iMatch Syncing question
Hey everyone, first time posting here.
I had an issue regarding my iTunes library. Half of it has been purchased from the iTunes store while the other half has been ripped from various CDs I own. I have synced all music to my iPad.
Recently while travelling outside the country for work I have had a hard drive failure on my laptop, causing all my music on the library to be corrupted.
I have heard that apple will allow me to redownload my purchased music, but the remainder of my collection will still be lost.
Using iMatch, would it be possible to upload my music to iCloud from my iPad, and then transfer that music to my new laptop?
I have heard of software that can transfer music but I have read mixed reviews.
Thank you in advanced, my apologies if this is posted in the wrong community. I hope I can get this resolved soon.
If it's on the same computer, the iTunes/Apple ID account won't matter.
If it's on an entirely different computer though, it will be erased.

I have an iMac running snow leopard and my wife surprised me with an iPad 2 for Christmas. I first synced using iTunes and then switched to syncing with iCloud but soon found syncing contacts from the address book and my calendar doesn't work in snow leopard - no option for iCloud sync on the iMac. I'll go to syncing via wifi but have a question. I would like to remove my contacts and calendars from iCloud so it won't cause a problem if or when I upgrade to lion. If I delete my contacts and calendars on the iPad, it should delete them in the cloud, correct? I would then shut off my icloud sync options on the iPad. Could I then just sync up again in iTunes and then make setting changes to sync using wifi?
Thanks, I did a search and couldn't find a direct answer.I believe that your assumptions are correct but the only way to find out is to try it. The worst that will happen is that you'll see double entries on the iPad and, if that happens, you simply delete the iCloud calendar from the iPad.
Edit...
In fact, I think that you want to delete the iCloud calendar anyway. -

Hello! Okay, hypothetically speaking, say you brought a television show on your computer on iTunes, which you then synced to your iPad. My question is: If your computer went kaput before you could save the files, but it was on your iPad. If you then connected to your computer, would it download the episodes on the computer, or would it not due to copyright? Thank you in advance.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, and iPhone. The computer must be authorized with the same iTunes account with iTunes that was used to purchase/download the iTunes content.

I just started using the Pages app on my iPad2. Two questions: 1. Do I have to buy the Pages iPhone app separately or will the iPad version sync to my iPhone 3GS? 2. Am I able to sync Pages docs created on my iPad2 for viewing/editing on my iPhone 3GS?
You can use the File Sharing feature at the bottom of the iTunes Apps pane when you connect to iTunes. Transfer the documents to your computer, and from there to your iPhone.

Sync questions? Comcast address book? Not sync every time I connect Ipad?
Hi|!
Still working on learning this wonderful tool!
Is there a way to pull in my comcast address book?
how can I make my ipad NOT sync every time I hook it to my computer? Can I just drag and drop a new movie onto it?
Do you use a screen protector?
Thanks so much!!Turning off auto sync is probably the first thing you should do before you start to experiment. Launch iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices>click on the box at the bottom that says - Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from automatically syncing. Then click OK and quit iTunes
If your Comcast address book is in an address book on your computer - you can select it to sync in the Info Tab in iTunes - under the heading - Sync Address Book Contacts.
You should make sure that the movie is in the correct format before you add it to iTunes or before you drag and drop. You can add the movie to iTunes via File>Add to library and if necessary click on the movie in the library and go to Advanced>Create iPad or Apple TV versions. I believe that you can drag and drop if you manage content manually.
Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High Profile level 4.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
Yes I use a screen protector but it is a matter of personal choice. -
How to setup my iPad to sync automatically not only the movies and songs I have bought but also the tv shows?
Chris Bui wrote:
Thank you Diavonex......... This is not a joke and please do respect when people really need help.
Diavonex was not treating this as a joke. He was giving you the answer to your question in a perfectly polite and respectful way. Without the Apple ID credentials to which the iPad is locked or proof that you are the original purchaser, there's nothing you can do. The device is useless to you. -
How does one prevent unathorized iPhone or iPad data sync
It has come to my attention that syncing an iPad or iPhone is relatively easy. So, here is my question, let's say my iPhone or iPad was stolen or maybe "barrowed" by someone and that person decides to sync the data from the iPhone or iPad to there Mac or PC laptops? Now all my information, such as contacts, notes, etc, contained in the iPhone or iPad is synced and transfered to the other persons computer. Even if my device was not stolen, if a person wanted to sync my important data form my iPhone or IPad is possible thus my data would be stolen. This type of data breech could happen at work, home, conventions, hotel rooms, etc... Yes, I know you can do remote wipe-out of data, assuming that you have noticed the thief or your device being "barrowed". So, is there a lock-out to prevent unathorized syncing of data from iPhone or iPad device? I was hoping for a setting that required an access code prior to syncing data, but no such setting exist. Before answering this question please read carefully what I am asking. Thanks.
A passcoded iPhone running iOS4 will not sync with a new computer until the passcode is entered into the phone. You do not need the erase function to be activated for the data to be protected.
I am looking for a way to prevent other accounts on the same mac from being able to sync with my iphone. It seems once you have authorized the iphone on a mac it allows all accounts to access the iphone through iTunes and iPhone Explorer.
Does anyone know how to remove the iPhone/Mac syncing permission once it has been granted? -
Hello. I have a strange problem that has come up within the past few weeks.
When I create a new event in the calendar app on my iPad2 (ver 6.1.3), it doesn't sync with my other devices or iCloud. But, when I create a new event on any other device, my iPad will sync and the event will appear in the calendar.
So far I've tried going to settings>iCloud and turning Calendars OFF, then turning it back on. No luck there.
Any other suggestions? Thank you!Hey KazMogi,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.

I have my IPad 2 synced to itunes on my corporate laptop. The laptop crashed and I needed to send the laptop away. IT re-immaged the laptop. I loaded Itunes, and my question to anyone is is their a way to restore a Itunes lib back to a PC from a IPad
It has always been very basic to alway maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.

Help getting Pages to iBook on an iPad not synced with my computer.
I have my students creating book reports using iWorks Pages. We will then export them to epubs and place in iBook. All is working well. My question is my principal wants the iBooks on her iPad that is not synced with my computers. How can I get these iBooks or epub documents onto her iPad without syncing it to my computers?
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

I know this question may have been asked but please bear with me:
I have a iPhone 4S ( 16 GB ) and a iPad Air ( 32 GB ). Most of my photos are taken on my iPhone and I can view these photos on my iPad via the Photo Stream (which I know will only display photos for 30 days). I wanted to delete some photos off my iPhone to make room, but how can I still view these photos on the iPad without syncing my iPhones's camera roll to the iPad. Shouldn't iCloud be keeping these photos (and I heard that photos, music and maybe documents don't take up iCloud space, just other non-iTunes stuff count towards iCloud storage space but I don't know if that's right).
I just wants to know how iCloud works because what is the point of downloading other iOS devices' camera rolls onto my iPad and then risk my iPad runningout. Of space. Wouldn't I just run into the same problem? I thought iCloud would backup photos so if they were to be deleted off one iOS device, it can still be accessed on another iOS device (something like a Photo Stream but I ninnies it only lasts 30 days).Hey! I am moving from icloud backup to itunes backup and i have not checked photos, contacts(see 1st image below) to sync to itunes. And on my phone in settings under icloud photos, contacts, notes and other stuff are selected(see 2nd image below). Does this mean i am backing up apps(and app data), music, settings to itunes but photos are still backed up to icloud. If not what should i do to back up my photos?
Could you please help me with this i am a little confused. Thanks! -
I can't get my itouch and iPad to sync to transfer the videos that I bought from the iTunes store
I cannot get my iPad to sync from my iTouch. I went to the setup and they said it would work when I got on my own wifi. Yeah right, all of my videos purchased from iTunes are still on my itouch and not on iPad ?....
You can't sync from an iPod to an iPad (or vice versa). If the videos are not on your computer's iTunes then you can copy them from the iPod to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11) and you can then sync them from your computer to your iPad (depending upon what country that you are in then you might also be able to re-download them directly on the iPad via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app).

I just purchased a ipad 2 and have not sync it yet. I have an old pc and would like to move the itunes library account to a newer pc that I have. Can I move the library to the ipad and sync ipods to the ipad and/or move the library to the new pc?
Perhaps this web page will help: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1229
But I must point out that leaving the iPhoto Library on the external is worth considering. Your internal drive would be better off without having to carry the photos.
When you booted with the external connected and you were asked for the library, did you try navigating to the Library in on the external drive?
