There could be a problem with your Apple ID, try logging into the My Apple ID page.

How do I enter the ipad cellular number so that I can be included in iPhone users group text messages.i do not have an iPhone so I am trying to receive the group texts on my ipad. So if people text me using the ipad phone number I should get the message right? But when I go to send and receive under iMessage it only lets me enter an email, how can I enter a phone number. Texts send from a 3G ipad "imessages" app could deliver to a normal cell phone?

Lost my iphone last month & planning to buy a ipad2 to instead as I just need the SMS message function but not phone conversation function.
So, could SMS send from a 3G ipad "imessages" app could deliver to a normal cell phone or a blackberry which doesn't have any iTune apps?

You can also use one of the many texting applications found in the App Store. They work over data so they don't require a texting plan.

HT3529 IPAD imessage is Frozen????

Ipad imessage has frozen and will not unfreeze.
Tried resetting.
Hard resetting.
And it is still frozen.
How do I clear this or reset it?
I tried the usual reset methods I read online but they did not work.

Here's the answer
Close the iMessage app on the Task Bar
1. Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar
2. Hold iMessage app down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
3. Tap the minus sign to close app
4. Tap area above Task Bar to return to Home screen
5. Go to settings, iMessage and turn it off
6. Hold down the power and home buttons at he same time til you see the apple logo then release them(this may not be necessary, but it's what I did)
7. When the ipad powers back on, open iMessage using the iMessage icon, DO NOT turn it on in settings. It will ask you to login follow the steps and iMessage will be restored. Personally after this I deleted the last message that was very large with 21 photos in it(which I believe caused the problem) and then the rest of my old messages. This worked for me and no more problems since, good luck!

Ipad imessage ios 7 mobile number

Hi,
there`re some tipps to be able to receive on an iPad imessages sent to tne mobile number. But they don't work with iOS 7.04. I would like to have conversations sent to my mobile phone number on the iPad as I have them on my iMac. Any solution?

IPad iMessage problem

I removed a contact from iPad iMessage and subsequently lost all of the messages linked to that contact. I didn't realise this would happen and I need info from within those messages. Is there any way of retrieving them? I have an iPad Air.

IPhone and iPad iMessage issues...

I'm having a bit of an issue here and I assume it's on my end. Out of the blue, and only with particular contacts, a handful, when I message them my message goes through as an iMessage however they can only respond as a text. This happens on my iPhone and iPad. However, if I send using a default email to start the conversation, it works fine. So it's just with my phone number. Everyone else in my address book who has iMessage has absolutely no issues with this. I am at a loss. Myself and the people who this is happening to has turned off and on iMessage, restarted our devices, reset some settings, deleted the contact info and added new and nothing seems to work. If anyone has any ideas, I would be very appreciative of it.

See this page about the reccomended networking settings for AirPlay. It is most likely due to your router.

HT5821 My new iPad iMessage will not send messages.

I have everything setup correctly, including the email address and account information. It just says unable to send with the red explanation point with a red circle. Does give the option to resend. This is all it will do. I've tried sending to a Mac computer and still the error. Thanks!

IPad+iMessage 'error occured during activation'

hi there.
i'm trying to connect my ipad to my imessage account which i have on my iphone.
I've researched the problem and i have updated onto the latest iOS 7 update, reset network setting back to factory, put time to auto (everything short of wiping my ipad completely which im reluctant to do)
can anyone help me as my iphone tends to run out of battery mid conversation and obviously that's inconvenient

I assume that you saw this troubleshooting article, but did you see that you should toggle the settings on and off for Messages after each attempt?
If you see "Waiting for Activation", "Activation unsuccessful", or "An error occurred during activation"
These messages occur when your iPhone is trying to activate your phone number with iMessage or FaceTime.
To resolve these status messages, follow these steps. After each step, turn FaceTime and iMessage off and on again in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Make sure that you have a cellular network connection with your cellular provider. You need a cellular network connection to activate iMessage and FaceTime with your iPhone phone number.
Go to www.apple.com in Safari to make sure that you have a data connection. You need a data connection to activate iMessage and FaceTime with your iPhone phone number.
Make sure that you can send and receive SMS. You need a valid SMS messaging plan to activate FaceTime and iMessage.
Make sure that FaceTime hasn't been restricted: tap Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
Set iPhone to the correct time zone: tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: If Set Automatically is on but the incorrect time zone appears, turn Set Automatically off and choose the correct time zone, date, and time.
Contact your carrier to verify that there are no restrictions, blocks, or filters on text messages. Restrictions, blocks, or filters on text messaging will prevent iMessage and FaceTime registration from completing.
If "Waiting for Activation" still appears after you perform these steps, turn FaceTime and iMessage off and on in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime. You may need to wait up to 24 hours to complete activation. Most attempts will take less than an hour, but some attempts may take up to 24 hours. If your issue isn't resolved after 24 hours, please contact Apple for assistance. If you've recently performed a remote wipe on your iPhone, wait 24 hours from the time you performed the remote wipe, and then turn iMessage off then back on.You can still activate iMessage and FaceTime with your Apple ID when these status messages appear. You can see that you've activated FaceTime and iMessage with your Apple ID by tapping:

My friend is using iMessage all the time with singapore number, but when I imesage her with my iPad in Malaysia, the button Send alway in grey color. If I using my iPad send iMessage to my friend's iPhone with malaysia number, it is able to send. Any solution for that?

I can add people into my contact list, if I want to send an iMessage, I couldnt save her/his name and contact number into Contact list first. After iMessage sent successfully then can only save his/her into my contact list. This is the way I done yesterday.

What I have seen is that, the iPad uses my email account for the other people to send me texte. But on my iPhone the people are using my phone number. But, both have the same email account!
