IPad imovie?

I don't have a mac, and wish to purchase one. I saw the new iPad and was interested in learning more about the product. I realized it does not have any iLife programs like iMovie and i am wondering if anyone knows if Apple is considering incorporating these programs to the iPad in the near future. Thanks

My open questions:
1) Does the 3.5mm audio jack accept a mono signal for Skype. If so, the Voice Over is possible.
2) Will Apple support the SDHC adaptor as a port for video and photos?
3) Will Apple support WIFI input from SDHC cards that include a WIFI chip?
4) Is there a USB port that connects to iTunes? I assume there is so -- in theory -- iTunes could move video and photo files back and forth to the iPad.
Clearly, all Apple's work to force our videos to 960x540 PROGRESSIVE would make the small-screen useable. But, I'm not sure how the whole iMovie 09 GUI would look on such a tiny screen.
This, of course would be a huge increase in screen-space for the very nice iPhone NLE. Frankly, I've been using it while in Asia for the last 90-days. Just shoot and edit on the iPhone then upload to MobileMe.
You can edit in Titles, Photos, time-lapse video, and FX. Very nice for a 5-minute videos!
PS: Also did LIVE broadcasts from several locations in Manila. The weakness is if you think AT&T is bad you should try 3G in other countries! After the "broadcast," the video is moved automatically to Utube. Very clever.

you said you uninstalled iTunes. Did you follow this article?

because iTunes also installs other components and when removing and re-installing, you have to remove the components in the exact order otherwise it usually doesn't resolve the issue, and sometimes make it worst!
also make sure: you're using the correct ipad usb cable and plugging it on the back of the computer (not the front usb)
next step if it doesn't work would be to try to create another windows user (administrator) and try the ipad on that one, sometimes it works like that.

Cannot locate MP4's on ipad imovie but appear and play through the videos icon??? Camera Connection Kit

I loaded 25 - MP4's from iTunes onto my ipad, they appear and play when accessed through my VIDEOS icon but when I open imovie or splice they do not appear as an option to import?????? These are files I converted from mts files - note they do play on ipad, please help????

Johnathan, -- I wrote this below in bold then the discussions site went down for maintenance and then Menneisyys and Kiwiphone4 replied and I think they are confirming what I'm saying here (only a bit more technically correct).
Thanks for your comment – but my issue is not with pirated or other movie video from the www, rather (as Menneisyys points-out) with videos I take with my Nikon Coolshot camera. What has perplexed me is this:
I synced about 100 events (containing both photos as well as .avi "video" files) from my MacBook Pro-13" (10.6.8) to my new iPad 3. NONE of the avi files transferred---
BUT:
…then I transferred an avi file from an SD card using the Camera Connection Kit - and the video played just fine!
Why on the same iPad with the same .avi video does it transfer via the CCK and play on the iPad, but not via an iTunes transfer.
PERHAPS THIS?!: The .avi movie NEVER MAKES IT into iTunes because iTunes cannot play an avi movie; therefore if it is not there, it can't be transferred. That must be it or something like that. (The avi movie I transfer from my Nikon is in iPhoto - and it plays in iPhoto - but since photo and video transfers to the iPad go via iTunes, and iTunes apparently can't bring-in avi, then it cannot act as the "bridge" in the way the CCK does.
Is that it?

IPad/iMovie help please!

Hey there...I have the "New iPad and have recently downloaded the app iMovie and iPhoto in hopes of putting together a slide show for my daughter's 13th birthday. That being said, I have about 50 pictures that I selected, fixed to fit the screen and they worked perfectly and I was able to preview the slide show with no issues. Today when I started to add a few more pictures all the pictures seemed to overlap and the ones that I had fixed as far as how long I wanted them to show on screen changed to a much longer period (meaning that one picture would show for a very long time). In addition when I tried to preview the show it was a blank screen. you could see it was moving, however, everything was black. Does anyone have any ideas for me?
One more question...as I am new to this, do you think I am really chancing trying to put this on my PC so I can show it at the ice skating rink or is there a way to hook my iPad up to the projector at the rink?

If you are having issues transferring your project to your Camera Roll, you may want to try transferring it to iTunes on your computer, then transferring it back. This will also give you an opportunity to back up the file, should anything happen to it during further troubleshooting on your iPad. You may find the following article helpful:

Multi audio editing ipad imovie

I'm making a video that contains both pictures and video footage. in this video I have a song and I wanted to know how to change the volume of the track at certain points. for example, when the picture is on, I want the volume to be high, and when there is a video going on I want the song to have a lower volume so I can hear the audio of the video and not the song. is this even possible to do? because when I try to adjust the volume of the song, it does it for the whole footage.

You cannot adjust parts of music.
But if a clip has audio turned on iMovie automatically lowers the music track so you can hear the clip.
If the music is over a photo it is higher.
That sadly is the only thing it does with audio.
You could get Avid for iPad.
It has much better audio controls.

IPad iMovie playing unwanted sound effects

I have a movie on the iPad that plays the phone ringing sound effect. I have not put that sound effect in the movie. What is up?

The "yellow caution badge" that Peter refers to indicates that iMovie can't locate the clip, whether it be video or audio. The "badge" is in the shape of a yellow triangle enclosing an exclamation mark - see this picture:
One tip that may help is to delete iMovie's preference file. That file can become corrupted under certain circumstances, such as when iMovie quits unexpectedly or is Force Quit.
The file is located in your User (Home) folder Library/Preferences and, for iMovie '11, is named "com.apple.iMovieApp.plist".
Close iMovie, then drag the .plist file to the Trash. When opened, iMovie will create a fresh .plist file with the default settings, which you can change if desired in iMovie's menu item iMovie>Preferences.
Deleting the file will not harm your existing Events or Projects, but may fix iMovie's abnormal behaviour.
NOTE: I have seen similar behaviour myself, as you and Peter describe (but not as serious - it was on a test project). My fix was to check each and every audio track and switch Ducking OFF and ON (or ON and OFF depending on its setting). The disappearing audio suddenly re-appeared on the problem track. But it may have been coincidental, as I was playing around generally - perhaps something else I did triggered it.

It is possible to sync iMovie projects from iMovie on iPad to iMovie on Mac?
When I've created an iMovie video and exported it, is it safe to delete some or all of the files featured in the video?

Yes, you need to update your version of Logic to 9.14 and above (the latest is 9.15)

IPad iMovie Questions

Hello, I just got the iMovie app for my iPad a few days ago and I have some questions. I am currently working on a trailer and I am wondering if there is a way to insert your own music. I am also wonder if you can delete certain parts where it wants you to insert clips. Also can you change how long the clip you insert to a spot can be? Please help!

Ipad imovie subtitles

Your question might seem clear - but not really to me.
A. there is no subtitle function in iMovie (to turn it on or off or in various language)
B. I made a subtitled movie = two movies one with and one without to put on one DVD - only way here.
C. This movie/s also play well on my iPod (v5 Classic) - but as full movies each.
So in iMovie I use Titles - Lower third and from a text document copy and past - line after line till movie is complete. No elegant solution but only one as I know of - tedious/tiresome but still works.

IPad iMovie help clearing temp files.

Does anyone know how to clear the rendering temp files for iMovie iPad addition. I ran out of space during my movie render (large 1 hour movie). Now, I really don't have any space and no way to export the project to anything, including iTunes.

You could have done the following if deleting the projects from inside iMovie doesn't help for some reason
- check out in iTunes' File Sharing pane (the one in the lower right area of the Apps tab) whether the iMovie app has any temp / xported files in its Documents directory. Backup and/or delete them.
If there aren't any files there,
- get iExplorer ( http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/ )
- go to <app home> / Library / Application Support
- backup / delete the projects there

Ipad/imovie issue

I have a new ipad3. I took some pictures and some videos with it. I downloaded imovie. When I start a new project and click the button to insert media, none of the videos are there and there are no photos as well. The music tab shows all the music but the video and photos are black or empty.
I just went and upgraded my 3GS to a 4s last night and put all my apps on it. I took 2 pictures and a 10 second video. I opened imovie and when I clicked the button to get media, the one video shows on the video tab, the two photos show in the photos tab. It did asked if I wanted imovie to import from the photos and I clicked yes. I never got that option on the ipad. I uninstalled it form the ipad and reinstalled. It didn't do anything, still no videos or photos, just music.

After I posted a sidebar popped up and had the same problem that was checked as fixed. I went there, did it, and it worked. I feel like an idiot now, but a happy idiot. All I had to do was go into privacy settings and check something off.
I will search the community support more thoroughly next time

Ipad iMovie missing video

I created a project in iMovie then I reconfigured iTunes some how and synced it. Now iMovie can't find the original .mov file I created with the ipad. I have the .mov and i put it in my photos sycning folder and checked the box that says include movies but iMovie still can't find it.It shows up in iMove under Video, but at this point I think I need to have it in the camera roll or something? the file is 3GB so I can't email it like some suggest or Dropbox because my account only has 500MB.
Please help

I also got the second problem. The storyboard on iMovie trailer has all these missing videos. If I import them on my iPad it doesn't find them.
If you find a solution it would be much appreciated to share it here ... I'll do the same.

Using Adobe Reader on your iPAD, you cannot add new bookmarks.
But, you can navigate bookmarks in the PDF added by the author.

Trying to transfer my ipad imovie to itunes on my pc, running out of ideas

I've done a bit of research and tried 2 things;
1) to click on the 'itunes' transfer button within imovie, which I've done twice and it says has been done but I can't find the movie anywhere on my PC itunes
2) I've gone to 'apps' & looked under file share, have saved the imovie onto my PC but when I then go to open it the extension is .imoviemobile and the PC says Windows can't open it
I'm sure there's a way of getting it onto itunes?

There are a couple of things that you can try.
1. Quit iTunes, restart or reboot your iPad, restart your computer and then try again.
2. Delete any old backups that you have in iTunes and then try again.
Try no. 1 and see what happens.
