IPad internet conectibility

I recently bought an iPad 2 and am very pleased with it.  However, I made two mistakes with the purchase.  The first was not buying the 3G version, and the second was to assume that the installed Bluetooth would enable me to connect to the internet via my enabled phone.  To compensate for this I thought I would set up a mobile WIFI hot spot, I purchased a ZTE MF60 to do this.  I have an o2 mobile broadband SIM card.  The iPad can connect to the MF60, and the MF60 is receiving the o2 signal, but for some reason I can't connect to the internet.  Has anyone had a similar problem and do you have a solution?

I am having the exact same problem with the ZTE MF60 using an iPod with a Three UK sim card. Has anyone found a solution?

Yes.  An internet connection is only required when transferring a rental from your computer to or from an iDevice.  I watch them all the time on my iPad on airliners without an internet connection.

It is hardly Apple's fault that Epson can't/won't update their driver, but at least Epson suggest that you use the Gutenprint driver, which in any case is far better that what Epson offer.
    You can get it here:
    http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/
You can download the latest version from here:

Have you downloaded the recent Apple update to Epson drivers?

  • My iPads Internet is really bad

My iPads Internet is really bad everything else in the house is fine and its not that everything else is is hogging the wifi because it has been fine for ages but all of a sudden it's being really bad, does anyone know why?

What is really bad - slow, drops connection, won't connect, short range? You need to provide specifics if you want an answer.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • No Internet conection!

Since 24 days I have no Internet conection! I have conection by Airport to another computer. Since 24 days I have tried to solve this problem, but I didn´t manage. I tried it several times with the diagnose of Safari.
I asume the problem must be solved in the configuration of Network! Because in the diagnose Airport is colored yellow and the message says that Airport gave itself a code(?) and therefore it´s possible that I don´t have acces to the Internet!
    Who has advice?
    Eduard Lid
    P. s. my computer has returned today of repairs!
    MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.11)

    Hi Eduard,
Just to clarify here, you're connecting to the Internet on your MacBook via another computer (Internet sharing). That other computer, which is receiving the inbound ISP connection is connected to what? A router? A modem? Is it dial-up, DSL, cable, WAN?
On this other computer, is that computer able to connect to the Internet?
This document should assist with reconfiguring Internet sharing in OS X 10.4

What is the reason for Apple to skip this function? In fact, I feel pretty uncomfortable with this decision, it hinders me from using the iPad in a useful way. What is the reason to allow tethering on an iPhone and not on an iPad?
We are all just your fellow users. No one here is going to be able to answer those questions for you. Bottom line is, for whatever reaons, you cannot use your iPad as a mobile hotspot. If that's the reason why you bought it, you need to either return it or sell it.
Submit your feedback to Apple here:

Many people find that it's still a useful device even without that feature.

  • TC Internet Conection problems

    Hello,
I've had my time capsule for a few months working perfect.
A week ago I started having problems with the internet conection. I've read about different people with similar problems but here it goes:
    TC conected to cable modem
iMac OSX 10.8.2 conected to TC via ethernet.
Apple TV, Macbook Air OSX 10.8.2, iPhone, etc conected wirelessly.
I have no access to the internet but the TC light stays green and all the modem lights are on.
So everything seems ok but I just cant access the internet on any device conected to the wireless signal. Sometimes it will work for just a few minutes, sometimes for hours. But keeps doing that all day, for a week now.
I called the internet company and they had some stuff done on their network the same day that I started to loose the internet.
But they have already fixed the problem and I keep getting internet problems.
Should I have the TC replaced?

Factory reset and follow the instructions..
Then reboot the whole network.. restart from off.. everything off..
    modem.. wait 2min
    TC.. wait 2min
    Client computers.
Make sure everything gets correct IP address.
If you have issues, install 5.6 utility if you use lion or even mountain lion.. then you have access to the log.. without it you have nothing.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall 6.1 so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.

My PC (windowsXP) doesen't know my ipad is conected??

Do you have iTunes installed and what version?
Does your windows xp pc recognize any other usb devices?
Is this the same computer you normally sync and/or backup with?

    Help...
Just downloaded itunes on new computer. Unable to access itunes story. Telling me to check my internet conections, internet is fine though????

    Hi.
I have that issue too. I have disabled the anti-virus plus firewall. I've even corrected the host file but nothing works.

  • What's wrong with the internet conection on my ipad now i have upgraded to ios7

Before I installed the new operating system my ipad was working fine and safari was pretty quick loading but now safari is hit and niss , mostly miss ! so frustrating.

    (A) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
    (B) Reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.

  • I have internet at hom I do not know if the Ipad has internet conection

I do not know how to start using the Ipod

There is a Getting Started guide : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4053
The iPad manual also has a chapter on getting started and chapters on all the built-in apps (plusmiBooks which is a free download) - it can be downloaded from here : http://support.apple.com/manuals/ipad
In terms of wifi, you need to turn it on via Settings > Wi-Fi and then select your wifi network - the first time you should need to enter the router's password, assuming that it has one.

  • Ipad Internet access in Africa

I will be in Tanzania for 3 weeks in February. Is there a way of connecting to the Internet when not in hotels with wifi or similar places. Tanzania has excellent cellular coverage. I'm thinking Mifi & dongles??? Any cheap ideas welcomed
    Thanks

Check with local providers to see if they support iPad data plans. If so, get a local sim and insert it into your iPad, assuming you have a 3G capable ipad. If you only have a wifi iPad, check with a local provider for mifi plans. No dongles are involved.

  • IPad Internet access when WiFi and Cellular features are disabled

Local security policies require me to disable all wireless communications on devices operating within specific “Controlled Access” areas.  Is there a specific lightning (cable) adapter I could use to connect an iPad device to a hardwired Ethernet cable (CAT-5 or 6) to facilitate wired internet communications in this situation? Alternately, can I use a standard Lightning-to-USB cable connected to a MacIntosh computer and somehow configure the MacIntosh to act as a router-like device for internet communications between the iPad and other intranet or internet endpoints that the MacIntosh is also able to interact with?  Basically, I need to establish internet connectivity to/from the iPad without the use of wireless communications options, and I'm interested in the options I could pursue.

Thanks for the YouTube links bobseufert.
I'm going to try this approach out myself (just to verify that it works), but I'm really hoping that another - less encumbered, approach can be found for my end-goal.  The larger-scale view of my need includes connecting multiple iPads (one per workstation area) to a local intranet.  Since I can't use a WiFi or any other wireless communications solution for this installation, I might need a collection of adapter cables and powered USB hubs if I choose to implement the options detailed in these two videos on a large scale.  Sure, that's all possible, but what I'm really hoping to find somewhere is an RJ-45 configured Ethernet-to-Lightning Adapter that will work with iOS devices.
From one perspective I can see why this type of adapter has not been built yet.  However when you think about the wired adapter options that are available to connect the iPad/iPhone to a remote display (or overhead projector) - there is at least three different versions available through Apple, even through Apple sells wireless video display capabilities (I own two Apple TV devices myself), you wouldn't think that a wired network option for these mobile devices would be something out of the question...
BTW, I noted that Redpark (www.redpark.com) has some serial (RS-232) adapters for the older 30-pin iPads/iPhones and for the newer Lightning equipped iPads/iPhones that Apple has signed-off on.  Redpark also has an RJ-45 to Lighting Adapter, but this particular implementation is built (i.e., wired) for the CISCO Console port, which is not compatible with your typical CAT-5 / CAT-6 wiring configuration.
If anyone else finds a Lightning Adapter providing both Ethernet-based Data (via an RJ-45 connector) and Power to keep the iPad devices charged (24/7) I would really like to hear about it...  Thanks for your continued support!
