IPad iOS 4.2 Wifi Failure
I've been using an iPad 3G for the last several month and both the AT&T and the WiFi have operated flawlessly. I installed iOS this afternoon and only the 3G connection works.
WiFi is a Fail. Every other item on our WiFi operates successfully. This includes two iPods. The iPad "sees" the Access Point, connects, but stops working after that. Instead of showing an address on our net, i.e. 192.168.1.XXX, it shows an ip address of 169.254.159.250 -- which is not on our network.
If I try to open a www page I get the following message: "Cannot Open Page Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the Internet".
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have also had problem though not as severe as yours. I got it working better for a while by
1. Forgetting the wifi network you are having trouble connecting
2. turning off the wifi and then restarting the iPad.
3. restarting and re-entering the connection details for your wifi network.
This seems to sometimes "clear" the settings. Hope this helps. Istill have "flaky" wifi however since upgrading. It was very reliable before the upgrade same as with you.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Restart your mobile device.

IPhone 5 and iPad 2nd gen weak wifi pick up after iOs 8.0.2 update

I have had my iPhone 5 since September 2012 when it first came out and had never have any problems with it with regards to picking up wifi signal. I had battery issues as the phone got older but it didn't really bother me and I had it sent over to Apple to have the sleep/wake button issue resolved about two weeks ago. Since then, I have purchased the iPhone 6 and gave my old iPhone to my husband. As I'm the one who deals with all the gadgets, I do the updating stuff. My iPhone 6 is on the latest iOs 8.0.2 and it doesn't have any problem whatsoever. My iPhone 5 and iPad 2nd gen (3g + wifi) also had the latest iOs update and both have recurring problems now. Both have problems picking up up wifi signals. Even when I have the iPhone 6 next to them, which has full bars (wifi), the two older gadgets are struggling to pick any signal at all. And if they actually get onto the internet, I only get 1 bar and the internet surfing on them are as sluggish as ever. The battery on the iPhone 5 has drastically gone downhill as well. I have tried to change the WPE/WPA2 connection on the router but it is still the same. I even tried to "Forget the network" and logged in manually again to no avail. The keychain thing on iCloud has been turned off but no change has been noticed. Is there anything else I can do to have this issue resolved? Since upgrade to OS 10.9 and associated iTunes 11.1.3, I can no longer WiFi sync iPad (IOS 7.0.3) nor iPhone (IOS 6.1.3). USB connection is required. Formerly I could sync both devices without locating them physically (not necessarily charging). I have restarted both devices, turned off and on "Sync with this iPad/iPhone over WIFI" and restarted WiFi. WiFi is operating (iPad has no SIM). What next?
I'm also affected by this bug in exactly the same way as you.
Some users have had success by closing iTunes, enetering (on OS 10.9) settings --> network --> edit locations, then create a new location with the same wifi/network settings. Then restarting iTunes.
Others have had some success by editing settings --> iCloud --> de-selecting keychain
neither of these fixes have worked for me.
It appears that the iPad can "see" iTunes running on my iMac because when I open settings --> general --> 'iTunes wifi sync', "sync now" is greyed out if iTunes is not running. When iTunes is started, "sync now" is enabled but just doesn't work. Nor does the iPad appear in iTunes. -

When I try to upgrade and install to iOS 5.1, error message prompt "operation stop running". I have tried several time but failed. Also, would like to know why always need to have wifi access in order to upgrade the version of iPad iOS, what is the purpose of 3G then? This is really nonsense using wifi + 3G iPad. need help ! The file is too large to download via 3G. There is a 20MB limit with 3G. The purpose of having 3G is that you have internet access everywhere and do not need to be near a WiFi hotspot or network.
Not every single thing that you do every single minute of the day on the iPad involves downloading files larger than 20MB. You can surf the internet all day long sitting out in a park somewhere with 3G - but not with a WiFi only iPad - unless you use a hotspot with it.
Try turning off your firewall and anti virus software while you try to download the iOS update. -

I own an iPad (latest/64 GB/WiFi+3G) that has iOS 6.1.3 . The TED Talks app that was OK till recently now crashes each time it opens. I think this is after a recent update. I removed it from my iPad & re-installed it but its no use. Can anyone help?

Restart your iOS device.

Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.

Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

My IPAD2 failed to download ios 8 via wifi and itunes
I tried to download IOS 8 via wifi and I got an error message that the download failed. I tried to download via ITunes and got the error message network failure. I did this numerous times both ways. My Iphone 5S downloaded fine via wifi.
I have similar problem on an iPad. I have FIOS with 83 meg download speeds. According to apple my download will take 32 hours. They are having a problem and are not addressing it. This is the third day I have been getting this problem. How do we get apple to tell us what is going on. I am willing to cooperate but need to know what to do.

IPad (3rd gen) losing wifi connection during large downloads
Hi,
I am having a problem with my iPad 3rd generation (wifi only, 64GB) running iOS 6.1.3.
When I download large files (e.g. via the iTunes app, the BBC iPlayer app, The Economist app), my iPad almost always loses wifi connection a minute or two into the download, and often stays disconnected until I go into Settings > Wifi and select my home network again. If I resume the download in relevant application, the same issue will typically recur within a minute or two.
I am not having any other problems with this iPad - general internet browsing / streaming of video has been fine. I originally thought the issue was only with the BBC iPlayer app, but sadly have found it to be more widespread.
I have tried to "forget this network", resetting network settings, restoring my entire iPad (twice), and resetting all settings - none of these have stopped the issue. Interestingly, during the first restore of the iPad I received ugly BIOS-esque messages relating to AppleBCMWLANCore, which disappeared after a hard reboot (power + home buttons together), and did not recur on the 2nd restore.
Anyone else experiencing something similar? Any suggestions to fix this?

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

my iPad Air keeps dropping wifi, i have rebooted it, restarted it, and i have had no luck. help please.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)

Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

I have an iPhone 5S / iPhone 6 Plus / iPad Mini x 2 / IPad (and some Macbook / iMac..)
I recently upgraded the 5S / 6+ to IOS 8.3.
The 5S and 6+ now no longer work on WIFI. They used to work on wifi with IOS 8.2.
I have an TP-Link Archer C7 Wifi Router at home; I upgraded the firmware on this; I have reset the network settings on the phones; I have reset everything on phones; I have restored the phones via iTunes; I have manually entered the Wifi SID rather than selecting the network; I tried entering a static IP address; I tried using the google DNS 8.8.8.8; even tried to revert to IOS 8.2 on the iPhone 5S but it failed and forced me back onto IOS 8.3 - none of these suggestions work - the WIFI no longer works on IOS 8.3.
The WIFI used to work before IOS 8.3. The wifi doesn't work after IOS 8.3 upgrade.
The iPad Mini / iPad remain on IOS8.2 and function on the wifi without problems. IOS 8.2 clearly has more stable wifi than IOS 8.3.
Here is the weird thing - Whilst I say that IOS 8.3 wifi doesn't work, the devices are connecting to the network and receive an IP address. The devices are visible (IP and MAC Address) on the router. My first thought before I started trying everyone else was that the DNS server had an issue - e.g. I have a connection but I cannot browse websites or use my apps when connected to the wifi. This looks like a DNS issue in IOS 8.3 and the way it is resolving addresses.
I can browse directly to IP addresses.
Any suggestions for resolving this issue, or those with similar symptoms would be most welcome.Just wanted to provide an update - The iPhone 6+ sprang to life again... weird. However, the 5S is still not working. I have identified that if I set the 6+ up as a hotspot for the 5S that the internet will work. I also have access to cellular data 3G / 4G.
Also, whilst I thought I had completed a full restore I have repeated and 'setup as a new phone' to rule out conflict of apps causing the issue;
The setup still cannot resolve internet address, however I can browse via IP address...
This is apparently a software fault with the DNS in IOS 8.3.
My next step is to rule out incompatibility with the router - I have a BT Homehub 3, 4, and a Time Capsule to test against.... surely this will work with an Apple Time Capsule...
