IPad IOS upgrade issue

I have the original iPad.  The IOS is 5.1.1.  It tells me that this is the latest version.  I can not upgrade to the latest IOS version 7.x and therefore can not use new apps.  Any insights?

The hardware for your iPad only supports up to iOS 5. You cannot upgrade to iOS 6 or iOS 7.

    I beganUpgrading my mother-in-laws iPad from 4.2 to 6.1.
    Initially this went smoothly
    1. Connected iPad to laptop via USB/power cable
    1. Successful download of update to iTunes running on her  Windows 7 l(HP) laptop.
    2. Backed up iPad to iTunes
    3. Initiates iOS upgrade
iOS upgrade was 70% complete when the Windows computer went into what I initially thought was screen saver or sleep mode.  I tapped the mouse pad and the screen illuminated with an announcement it was going to reboot to automatically install recent updates.   The computer immediately shutdown much to my horror right in the middle of my iOS- iPad bran transplant.
    4.  Now I have an iPad that displays a USB-power cable, arrow, iTunes logo. Also iTunes on the computer does not recognize it is attached to the iPad.
    5. I have  disconnected the iPad power/USB cable from the iPad shutdown the iPad (power+home10 seconds)  followed by
    6. Hold down home button while reconnecting the USB cable until a message hopefully appears on computer that the iPad is being restored.   Message never appears.
I'm stuck.  Does anyone have a suggestion to help me not fall into an unfavorable position with my wife's mother?

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • Ipad ios upgrade, now ipad shuts off constantly

I updated to the new ios upgrade, now ipad shuts off within a few minutes, every few minutes then turns itself on.  Any suggestions?

    Try Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

  • 2960s IOS Upgrade Issue

    Hi
I have a issue when i try to upgrade the IOS of WS-C2960S-48TS-L, the curretn version is 12.2(58)SE2 , the verison im trying to upgrate to is 15.2.SE6.
I do the "archive tar /xtract tftp" command to extract all the files to the flash, then i do the "boot system flash:"  command to change to the new but when i reboot the switch it loads the new ios then loads the old ios and boot using the old ios, how can i change to ignore the old ios ?

Here i am again...and with new weird news.
I've made new tests and analisys on my six WS-2960S-48LPS-L.
Cables are ok (said by TDR).
Five on six no way to upgrade, from CLI, upper 15.0.1-SE. This is the newest working IOS i found, tested:
    c2960s-universalk9-mz.150-2.EX
    c2960s-universalk9-mz.150-2.SE6
    c2960s-universalk9-mz.150-2.SE6  <-- suggested by Cisco
    c2960s-universalk9-mz.150-2.SE7
    c2960s-universalk9-mz.152-2a.E1
no way to boot, always the same error i've already posted.
Tried to format the rom also, always same things.
Anyway with 15.0.1-SE that should have fixed the poe problems, poe doesnt work...So i guess it's a hardware problem. Well ...5/6... i must say i have really bad luck...
But now, give me your attention please.....
One of them works, every port do its job with my voip cisco 7912 phones, with an old IOS also (12.2.58-SE2). So, i checked if it is a 2960S-48LPS-L for sure, serial number on case is the same i have on the package. It says it's a LPS-L. So, from CLI, i tried a show version....look at this:

  • IPad iOS upgrade to 7.1.06 from 7.x.x. Stuck on Apple logo. Sometimes goes black for a few moments. It's been 24 hours. How should we proceed?

Upgrading iPad to iOS 7.1.06 from iOS 7.x.x, cant' remember the exact version. It has gotten stuck with an Apple Logo on the screen, although it sometimes switches briefly to a blank screen before returning to the Logo. It has been 24 hours since we started. This is a 64 GB iPad with ovewr 1,000 apps and nearly all the memory used. From what I read in other posts from 6 months ago, the total process may take days. Is that accurate? What should we do now? Wait longer? Try to reboot? Go to the Genius desk? Other? Thanks. (This is my wife's iPad.)

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

  • IPad iOS 7 issues

I Have an iPad 4th Generation and I Always Use it.
If It Reaches the 2% Remaining Battery Remains. I Plug it To The Charger
Yet, it Turns Off.it. Always Happen When I Update to iOS 7. Did I Made Something Wrong? Please Help
    Thank You in Advance:)

Do not run it down to 2% before you charge it. Modern lithium batteries do not like that. Plug it into the charger whenever it is convenient, and for as long as you like, regardless of the state of charge at the time.

  • Keychain has been deleted after ipad ios upgrade

I am using an iMac with a 3.2 GHz processor, 4 GB memory, with Mac OS X version 10.7.5. Yesterday, I connected my iPad and did the upgrade. It now appears that all the data in the keychain has been erased.  I have tried to enter the apple ID in the icloud preference menu, but it will not take it. The password is still OK, because I can still use to get into icloud over the internet.

At some point, you reset your keychain to default in Keychain Access. That caused your login keychain to be renamed.
    Back up all data.
In Keychain Access, delete the login keychain from the keychain list. Choose Delete References when prompted, not Delete References & Files.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    ~/Library/Keychains
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V), and press return. A folder will open. Rename the file "login.keychain" in that folder to something like "login-old.keychain". Rename the file "login_renamed_1.keychain" to "login.keychain". You can then close the folder.
    Back in Keychain Access, select
              File ▹ Add Keychain...
from the menu bar. Add back the file now named "login.keychain". If any of your needed keychain items are missing from it, also add back the file you named "login-old.keychain". I suggest you transfer any needed items from that keychain to the login keychain, then delete it. The transfers are made by drag-and-drop in Keychain Access. You'll need to enter your password for each item transferred.

You downloaded the wrong file.  The file you wanted to run has "rp1" but the original file doesn't.  You downloaded a file for a different model.  Your router is an ASR 1001 with fixed RP but you've downloaded a file for a different sub-model of ASR, like the 1002 or 1004.

  • HT4623 I have a 1st gen iPad. Upgrade to iOS 6.1.1 appeared, but it quit shortly into it and now I am being told that all software is up to date at 5.1.1! Synced iPad to the iMac and it also says the iPad is up to date. What gives?

I have a 1st gen iPad. Upgrade to IOS 6.1.1 appeared, but it quit shortly into the installing and has not come back up again. Both the iPad and when synced to the iMac, say i am fully up to date at 5.1.1! Has anyone had / got the same issue? How can I upgrade when it doesn't acknowledge there is no need?

    You are most welcome

  • IPad iOS 5 upgrade saying it will wipe all apps and settings

I have a 3GS and a 1st gen iPad.  Both the iPhone and iPad were sync'd to the same PC.  The iPad has only ever been sync'd to this PC.
I've upgraded the 3GS to iOS 5 with minimal issues (just took 6 tries and a long time), but it's up and running fine now.
I've sync'd the iPad a few times to make sure all of its apps and settings are definitely on my PC.  When attempting to upgrade the iPad, I get a message that says "There are purchased items on the iPad "xxxxx" that have not been transferred to your iTunes library.  You should transfer these items to your iTunes library before updating this iPad.  Are you sure you want to continue?"  I chose "no," and sync a few more times while making sure I don't see it transferring any apps in the process so I'm extra certain that everything on my iPad is in the iTunes on the PC.  I then try upgrading again and get the same message.
This time I tried hitting "Continue", however then I get a message that says, "Upgrading to iOS 5 will delete all of the media including iTunes store purchases on your iPad.  To preserve this content, apply this update on the computer where you sync music, videos and photos."  I obviously do NOT want this to happen.
So...although this IS the iTunes where I sync my iPad, the upgrade process is saying that it isn't.
Any ideas how I can do this without losing all of my iPad app data and settings?

Finally got it.  Here's what I did...
First, I completely deleted the app I mentioned in the last post out of iTunes, as well as off the iPad.
Next, I went into the windows file system and backed up the last iTunes file backup.  There are other posts on how to do this.
Next, I went into music, and checked to sync music with iTunes.  I then made appropriate selections so that it wouldn't actually download anything to the iPad, even though iTunes is set up to do all music syncing.  I then did the same with Movies, TV Shows, and Books.  I then hit "Apply".  It gave me a message (sorry didn't copy it down) that all of the media on the iPad would be erased, and the iTunes library would be placed onto it.  Knowing I had nothing on it at the time, and I set up everything in iTunes appropriately, I hit OK.  This only took about 1 minute since there was nothing to copy over.
Once it completed, I unhooked it from the computer, and thankfully, all of the apps were still there in the same place they had been beforehand.
Next, I plugged it back in.  Synced again, and confirmed it was still good.
Finally, I hit the "Update" button.
This time it didn't give me the scary message I had been receiving, rather it just said it was going to backup the iPad, then install the update, then restore all my settings, just like my 3GS had done.
So...although this worked for me, I may have been a special case in that I don't keep any of my music or anything on my iPad.  If I had a ton of albums that were not already in iTunes, this probably would not have worked out so well.

  • After my iPad 2 upgraded to IOS 5.0.1, built in Microphone not working

Just what I said, my iPad 2 upgraded to IOS 5.0.1 from IOS 5 on last week, the built in microphone is not working anymore, I can't record the video with sound, and called my friends with Facetime, they can't heard my voice.  Then I already restored IOS 5.0.1 for a few time and built in microphone is still not working. Does anyone iPad 2 has the same issue after using IOS 5.0.1?  And anyone can help me to fix this?  Thx.

I've read other posts about this, and while it seems an odd coincidence, you likely have a faulty microphone.  On the right hand side you'll see similar posts.  The majority of people who all of the sudden had mic's that wouldn't work after updating, wound up getting their iPads replaced at the Genius Bar at their local Apple Store.  You could try rebotting, by pressing and holding BOTH the home and power buttons at the SAME time for at least 10 seconds (ignore the red slider to shut down) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go fo both buttons and your iPad will restart.  If that doesn't work, I would not recommend restoring.  Instead, make an appointment at the Apple Store and if found defective it will be replaced.  Do remember to create a backup before going.  It will make setting up a new device exactly as you had it, much much simpler.

  • My Ipad was upgraded and now when I open a book in Kindle it will not open the book and just takes me back to the opening screen of my IPAD. This happen after a upgrade to some IOS. Help.

My IPAD was upgraded and now when I open a book in Kindle it will not open and reverts back to opening screen of the IPAD and this occurred after some upgrade with IOS.Help.
    Thanks

The app may not be iOS6 compatible. Have you tried to reset it? HOld down the sleep and home keys, past when you see the red slider, and unitl you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and see if that helps. If it doesn't, then I'd contact Kindle and see when they're going to update their app or if they even know there's an issue. Unfortunately, the burden is on app developers to be compatible with the operating system, not on the OS to be compatible with millions of apps. So it's up to them.
