IPad/iPhone photo duplicates

I have a iphone, ipad and Mac (with iPhoto). When I sync them and go to photos on the iphone or ipad, the photos are duplicated when I go to Photos (Collections) on either the iphone or ipad.  How do I set this up so I don't have duplications?

Adding my name to this too...seems a pervasive problem...this has happened before and Apple sorted it out eventually with an update...very annoying though... It seems to be only ipad related as my desktop and iphone are fine...

  • AutoImporter iPhone Photo Duplicate issue

I took  a look in my iphone photo synch folder today and noticed that for some of the photos, there were dozens of duplicates (i.e. file 1.jpg, but had duplicates 1 1.jpg, 1 2.jpg, etc.).
This isn't happening to all of the photos, only some. I deleted all of the contents of the synch folder, rebooted and resynched, but same scenario. Each time I connect the iphone, it creates additional duplicate copies of some of these photos.
I looked at the photos in Image Capture and there are no duplicates listed there.
Any suggestions? Is next step to try and delete everything from Image Capture or something? The images that get duplicated view OK, so doesn't seem to be corrupted or anything.

I just discovered AutoImporter and ran into exactly same issue. I'm afraid, there's nothing that can be done about it, it's just Apple way of making software: take brilliant idea and deliberately ruin its implementation with a small detail. AutoImporter is just another useless piece of software in OS X bundle, designed to make life easier but doing otherwise.
Nevertheless, I'd be glad to be wrong and to hear someone's solution on how to avoid duplicates or another way to download previously unsynced photos from iphone/ipad upon connection.

  • Ipad / iphone photo sync folders list error

After syncing 3rd gen ipad with PC, iphone 6 unnecessarily re-syncs all the photo folders that are unchecked for the ipad's sync!  Of the 14,000 photos I need to sync, it re-syncs 4500 unnecessarily and takes over 1 hr.  iPad has only selected folders checked for sync.  iPhone has all folders.  I can sync the iphone successfully in succession, put then if I sync the ipad, the next iphone sync unnecessarily re-syncs all those unchecked ipad folders.
    Itunes 12.1.1.4 64 bit
    Windows Vista Home Premium
    iphone ios 8.2
    ipad ios 8.2
    (all current)
Sounds like a hierarchy, permission, or logic issue in itunes

    Hey Peter,
Try deleting the iPod photo Cache folder which is described here:

  • IPhone photos - duplicate imports

I am using Aperture 2.1.1 I import images as managed files and change the names to a custom master name (basically my initialsyear_month_daytime). I have the "do not import duplicates" box checked. This works for my other cameras, but Aperture keeps importing duplicates from my iPhone. They all end up re-named the same, so it isn't hard to see that there are duplicate masters there.
Any suggestions what to do to keep it from duplicating the iPhone images? Thanks!

same problem here exactly. It's not all the photos, just the same 15 of them everytime. really annoying since I can't see any differences in the metadata. I even deleted the dupes, and deleted all the photos from the iphone, then resynchronized to the aperture folder. It still wants to import those 15 photos when I reconnect. Performing a manual import immediately after they're imported does not cause duplicates though, only when I first connect the iphone.

  • IPad has photo duplicates

My iPad worked great until I upgraded to iOS7. Now in iPhoto I have sups of the same photo
And the trash can is graded out which cannot be used.
    Any help appreciated.

  • IPad/iPhone Contact Duplicates

I have an iPad2 and an iPhone4 and am syncing my email, contacts and calendar using Google Sync.
The contacts sync back and forth no problem, changes are almost immediate, which is fantastic.
The issue that I am having is when I respond to an email to a contact that is not in my Contact database it creates this "ghost" contact that I can't edit (for example, when I respond to a craigslist ad, or emailing an "unsubscribe" email address to remove my email address from a distribution list.  Even my own personal contact entry has a duplication.  I had an entry for myself with my personal and work email address.  I have changed jobs, and updated my contact.  However, when I compose a new email it still has my old work address listed in the autocomplete field.  Is there a way to edit the contact list that's been manually saved on the phone/ipad?
    Any thoughts/suggestions would be fantastic.
    Thank you

    No there is not.
The Mail app with the iPhone and iPad stores all email recipients in a list of previous recipients. The email address autofill feature pulls from your Contacts or address book and from the list of previous recipients.
Different from the Mail.app on a Mac, there is no access to the list of previous recipients to add a previous recipient to the address book or Contacts that is not already entered if wanted or needed, or to remove a previous recipient from the list - not at the present time anyway.

  • Organise photos to be able to backup in date folders on ipad / iPhone

Is there away to organize ipad / iPhone photos into folders that can then be backed up to a cloud? I have multiple devices and don't like that the photos all get dumped into one folder with no thought for date organising.  I want to have a cloud backup where the photos are already organised automatically by date, ideally month and year.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
    Paul

Please follow these directions to properly change your Apple ID to your new email address.
Before you change your Apple ID:
Sign out of all Apple features and services that you use with your current Apple ID.
Make sure that the email address you want to use for your Apple ID meets these conditions:
The email address is one that you use regularly, because it will be the primary email address for your Apple ID.
The email address is not associated with any other Apple ID.
The email address is not an iCloud email address, which is already an Apple ID. iCloud email addresses end with @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com.
To change your Apple ID, follow these steps:
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com), click "Manage your Apple ID", and sign in.
If you have two-step verification turned on, you'll be asked to send a verification code to the trusted device associated with your Apple ID. If you are unable to receive messages at your trusted device, follow the guidelines for what to do if you can't sign in with two-step verification.
In the "Apple ID and Primary Email Address section," click Edit.
Enter the email address you want to use, then click Save Changes. Apple will send a verification email to that address.
Open the email from Apple, then click Verify Now in the email.
When the My Apple ID page opens, sign in with your renamed Apple ID.
If you have two-step verification turned on, you'll be asked to send a verification code to the trusted device associated with your Apple ID.
After you see a message indicating that verification is complete, remember to update all of the stores and services that you use with your Apple ID.

  • All my photo libraries in my iPhone have duplicate photos since I have installed IOS 6.  Please help.

All my photo libraries in my iPhone have duplicate photos since I have installed IOS 6. I work with Aperture 3.3 not iPhoto! Also, most of the photos in my camera library have been deleted without my consent! I'm very ****** about that! Please help.

Photos in Photo Library are the ones that you've synced from your iTunes to your iPad. To free up space, you should delete these photos on your Photo Library since you already have the copies on your computer: Connect your iPad with your computer > Launch iTunes > click your iPad and navigate to Photos window > check Sync Photos from > select an empty folder and click Apply to carry out the syncing. After then, all photos in your Photo Library will be deleted.
As for photos in Camera Roll on your iPad, you should copy them to your computer for backup and deleted the copies on your iPad:Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support

  • All stacked photos show on iPad/iPhone

    Has anyone worked around this?
I stack images in Aperture. I set the pick to be the result of several images and several versions. Unfortunately, on the iPad/iPhone, ALL the photos show. All the physical and virtual versions are there for all to see.
Aside from separating the pick from the others and only including the pick in an album, is there any other way to not display all photos on the iPad/iPhone?

    BRILLIANT!
I'd like to thank all three of you looking, testing and responding. It appears the correct answer for me is to use the Stack Pick option in each smart album under Aperture.
I thought the problem was more pervasive, but after running several tests, that's what it was. I do still see some duplicate photos, but it appears to be unrelated to stacks. I do have photos showing on the "photos" tab, and I cannot figure out where they're loading from, but that's another issue.
I would have never though to look there, so I very much appreciate the help. I love Aperture and how configurable it can be. I'm glad someone was able to figure this out.

  • Full page prints from iPhone but not from iPad using photo app with AirPrint ?

Full page prints from iPhone but not from iPad using photo app with AirPrint ? iPad only prints 4x6 on full size paper. It's an HP 8600.

I also have this problem printing photos from an iPad to an Epson WF-2540 printer. It prints only 4x6 and without border (so print starts at extreme top left corner of paper). Borderless printing is not selected on printer. Printing a square photo just crops to 4x6 size.

  • My photos will not sync to my Apple TV (1st generation), ipad, iphone, or itouch. They used to be there but upon recent syncs with all devices they have all gone. I am totally baffled as I have not changed settings?

My photos will not sync to my Apple TV (1st generation), ipad, iphone, or itouch. They used to be there but upon recent syncs with all devices they have all gone. I am totally baffled as I have not changed settings?

I had the same thing happen to me.  It's a bug in iPhoto 9.4.2.
The first time you run iPhoto after upgrading to iPhoto 9.4.2, it "updates the iPhoto library".  This sometimes tickles a bug where iTunes can see all your iPhoto albums, but iTunes thinks they are empty.  Since iTunes thinks all your albums are empty, it dutifully deletes any photos from your synced iOS devices.
It's easy to tell if this is the problem you are seeing.  Open iTunes and go to the photos sync panel for one of your iOS devices.  If you have multiple albums checked, but iTunes shows a total of 0 photos, then you have the problem.
I spent an hour with an Apple Genius.  he couldn't find any mention of this problem in their internal support system.  His recomendation was to reinstall the operating the system.  I suspect that this won't solve it.
The only solution I have found is to restore iPhoto 9.4.1 and the corresponding iPhoto library from your backups.
I would refrain from upgrading to iPhoto 9.4.2 until Apple has a fix for this issue.

  • Only some of my photo's are syncing from iPhoto to my iPad, iPhone and Apple TV.

Only some of my photo's are syncing from iPhoto to my iPad, iPhone and Apple TV.
It may be my own fault due to learning Aperture and playing around with the locations of the Master Files.
The thing I don't understand is that when in iPhoto all thumbnails of all photo's are able to be enlarged / edited etc. When a thumbnail is clicked on there is no gray triangle with an exclamation mark indicating that the link to the original photo can't be found. I would have thought this was ok for syncing to take place.
When trying to sync through iTunes to my iPad for example (after some photo's have been synced) a window comes up saying "Some of your photos, including the photo “_MG_3820.jpg”, were not copied to the iPad “Mark Harlen’s iPad” because they cannot be displayed on your iPad".
I thought this may be due to lack of memory space but my Apple TV (which has the same issue but not the same warning window) has over over 100 free GB's so that can't be it.
When I did a test and re imported one photo that wasn't being synced to my other devices, that photo consequently was then synced so maybe it has something to do with the path through iPhoto to the original files.
Is there any way I can re establish these links with out having to create an entire new iPhoto library from the originals (I have a lot of albums and have done a lot of editing etc and don't and want to have to do it all again).
I look forward to you help and advice
    Mark

Thanks for the advice but it didn't seem to work
I've decided to try ditching iPhoto and orgainising, syncing my photo's to all devices from Aperture
I have so far imported over 1200 photo's (relocating and renaming the master files as well) and find that when syncing through iTunes only 209 photo's are listed. The Projects/Albums are there but some indicate that there are 0 photo's in them when I know other wise (at least according to whats happing in Aperture)
I'm starting to suspect it may be a computer problem
    Any thoughts?
    Regards
    Mark
PS: Just after posting this I restarted my computer, went into iTunes and my Apple TV started to sync. It was now syncing 854 photo's not 209 as before.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Did you fail to back up your pics?
The photo sync is one way - comptuer to ipod.
You can e-mail them to yourself (instructions in the manual), but they will not be of the original quality.

  • ICloud photos in albums not syncing to iPad, iPhone. How to fix?

    Hi folks,
I have iPhoto '11, an iMac running Lion, an iPhone 4 and an iPad 1. The iPad and iPhone are both running iOS v5.0.1 .
My problem is that when I take photos on either device, and they go to Photo Stream, I can copy them to albums, but they will *not* sync into that album on iOS. There's 100 photos in one of my albums, 40 of those are iPhone photos or screencaps from my iPad. Only 60 photos make it onto my iOS devices. iTunes shows only that 60 photos - i.e, the photos that I imported into iPhoto, not the ones from Photo Stream.
Is there something I need to do to make this work, or is this a bug?

GarageBand can only sync from iPad to OS X, not the other way around.
You can, however, sync back to an iPad if the project was originally created on an iPad.
Some edits  you did in OSX may not be seen on your iPad.
Opening an iPad-version in OS X is a bit awkward.
First, on your iPad tap and hold the file you want to send to iCloud.
As soon as the icon of your song starts to wiggle, tap Upload to iCloud.
In OS X go to File / iCloud / Import GarageBand for iOS
It can take some minutes before you can see your project.

  • How do I turn on photo sharing in itunes so I can see all my iphone photos on my ipad and home computer?

How do I turn on home sharing so I can see all my iphone photos on all my devices, ipad, apple TV, and home computer?  I must have stopped home sharing when setting this up but would like to turn it on again.

You might have been using the iPad every day and this issue could have cropped up anyway. I have read where users state that they used their iPad the night before, plugged in to charge it over night and they had the connect to iTunes message on the iPad the next morning.
What I'm saying is that what happened to you can't be explained other than something went wrong. Brilliant I know, but how can anyone possibly know what happended for sure.
Without a computer - and I know that with iOS 5 an iPad can be PC free - it is my belief that you could be facing issues down the line because even with iCloud - if you get the connect to iTunes message - there is no way to correct the problem without a computer.
Even of you had been using the device every day, charging it every night and taking great pains to ensure that the iPad was well cared for, once the connect to iTunes message pops up - you still need a computer.
Unless I have been missing something for the last six months, iCloud can't bail anyone out of this scenario.
