Ipad & Ipod touch synching issues with music

Every time I synch my ipad and Ipod touch to my computer ( which is a Dell about 5-6 years old) it always auto synch. I ahve unclick the synch button on both devices and it doesn't work. Every time I synch now my music get deleted and I have to put it back on there. This is getting old fast as I have to do it for both the Ipad and Ipod touch. Please help me. I think it is the computer and now am saving up for a new computer to see if that would help. Thanks

Have you tried unchecking the sync music button and syncing with it unchecked. Then sync again with it checked?

    Instead of dragging music. There is another option. Go to iPod music on iTunes after plugging your iPod into iTunes , in the bottom right corner you will see an option "auto fill" . If you have music in your iTunes library click the option " auto fill" and all your music from your music library will sync to your iPod. If not contact apple or have a seat at the genius bar at the apple store and apple employees will sure to answer your question. Hope this helped.

    My iPod Touch (iOS 3.1.3) will not synch my calendar and contacts since upgrading to Mavericks (10.9) and the latest version of iTunes (11.1.3), why? The info tab in iTunes has disappeared. Have I missed something obvious?

    I can't find any iTunes "settings".  Under the iPod Summary, the option to Sync only checked songs and videos is checked.  Under Music, sync music (entire library) is checked.  (It shows 8909 songs.  On This IPod shows 2715 songs.)
    I also ran the diagnostic that informed me that the sync test was successful.
    Also, under On This iPod, music is sorted by Album by Artist/Year.  I am unable to change the sort in any way - by Genre, Artist, other Album sort.

    I have a 2nd generation Ipod touch and Itunes says that I have 6 apps that need to be updated. But when I go to the Itunes app area and try to update it says there is not updates. How do I determine which apps are causing the issue? What can I do to reset the number? Any help is very much appreciated.

    My guess is that those Apps require iOS 4.3 or later, which a 2nd generation Touch cannot install.
    So the notification in iTunes (programme on your computer) will say there are updates to the Apps, because there are. However, since your iPod cannot use them, if you look at the App Store App on your iPod, those Apps won't be (shouldn't be) listed. Occasionally, I think they do get added to the notification number showing in the Apps Store icon on the iPod. I currently have two Apps like that.
    Important:
    What you should not do must not do is update the Apps in your iTunes Library (on the computer). If you do, then your next Sync of the iPod Touch to your iTunes Library will remove the App from your iPod and you will lose the App.
    My advice is that you ignore the notification number in your Apps Store App icon. It is no longer accurate or even meaningful. Instead, go to the Apps section of your iTunes Library and click on the X updates Available message. That will take you to the Store and list the updateable Apps. Unfortunately, you will need to check each one individually for it's Requirements. If it now requires iOS 4.3 or later - or an iPod Touch 3rd generation running iOS 4.2.1, do not download it. I think that now, every update will require iOS 4.3 or iOS 5, so there will probably be no Apps that you can update. If you do find one, you can update just that individual one by selecting Update as shown below.

    Unfortunately, far too many people simply rant on about this, so that it's impossible to get together and lobby Apple to modify this so that those of us with older iPods can continue to use older versions of the Apps. They (Apple) appear to have forgotten that if an existing customer is not in a position to replace their aging iPod with the latest one, then that customer may no longer be able to use an App - thus losing the App's designer his/her customers.
    I can see that their thinking is obviously; "the customer will buy a newer iPod because they want to have the latest iPod/they want to continue to use their Apps".

    Hi. I am having an issue with music on my IPod. It would probably be easier to explain my specific issue: I have songs by Band of Horses from Cease to Begin. When viewing my albums through cover flow, it shows Cease To Begin as two separate albums, one with only Islands on the Coast, and the other having Islands on the Coast with 3 other songs. If I delete the album with only one song from my IPod, it deletes the song from the other "album" as well. If I go to "All Songs" by Band of Horses, it only shows one Islands on the Coast, so it is not a duplicate issue. Also, in Itunes, it only shows one album. I just recently updated to iOS5 on my 4th Gen IPod Touch, if that helps.

    These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
    Backup the library with this User Tip.
    Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
    Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
    Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
    Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
    Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
    I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
    Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
    If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
    Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

    Make sure you have signed-in your iTunes and authorized the computer.
    Go to iTunes menu EDIT > PREFERENCES > DEVICES tab and check the Box "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically then OK.
    As long as you don't sync your devices, iTunes will not wipe out music from your iPod.  Now connect your iPod and do the Purchase transfer only.

    - If in the USA you can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
    Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - You can always redownload apps at no additional cost as long as you are signed into the same iTunes account the orignally purchased them.
    - It appears that the apps and music were not in the iTunes library on the computer on which you performed the update.  Music and the apps themselfes (app data is in the backup) are not part of the bckup hat iTunes makes as the first step of the uPdate.  Apps and music are synced from your iTunes library during a latter part of the update process.

    First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
