Ipad is dark and won't turn on

My ipad is dark and won't turn on.  It has battery power.  When I turn it on, there is a faint glow, but I can't see any of the applications.  I had this happen last week and when I connected it to the computer it worked and has worked until yesterday when it did the same thing.  But, connecting it to the comptuer doesn't help. I think I updated it to the latest version of software, but since it's not showing anything I don't know.
Any ideas?  I am so bummed!

Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • My Ipad stopped working and won't turn back on.

My ipad stopped working suddenly and won't turn back on. What can I do to turn it back on?

Assuming that the battery isn't empty (and it can take up to 15 minutes of charging before it will respond), then have you tried a soft-reset to see if that gets it to boot up ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • IPad shut off and won't turn back on. Any suggestions ?

I have the first IPad. My iPad shut off at 72 percent battery life and won't turn back on.
Any suggestions on what I can do ? Is it fixable ? Do I need a new Battery ?

    Not charging.
    1. Reset iPad; hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo
    2. Try another wall socket
    3. Try another cable (make sure it's an original Apple cable)
    4. Try another charger (make sure it's an original Apple charger)
    5. Clean Lightning port with compress air or new paint brush

  • IPad Mini overheated and won't turn on.

Hello everyone, I would like to kindly ask if I can replace my ipad mini 32gb wifi +cellular if I bring it tomorrow at the apple store. I am from the Philippines and I also bought my ipad mini here also. I think it is still covered by my 1 year warranty because I bought it March last year (2013).
This is what happened. I was charging my iPad Mini yesterday and left it for a few hours, after 3 hours I think, I checked it and it was hot and won't turn on anymore. I immediately unplugged the charger and tried to reboot it and also tried connecting it on itunes but it didn't solve my problem. It stayed like that for 7 hours and then cooled down afterwards, until now it's not working.
So yeah, if it won't turn on because it overheated or  for some other reasons, Can it be replaced? Will there be any payments?

If not then whether you might need to pay will depend upon what the store says and whether they think that it's covered by the warranty. Does the iPad have signs of damage anywhere on it e.g. dents ? Only the store will be able to tell you whether it's covered or not.

    Try a Reset...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

  • IPad multicolored lines and won't turn on

I got an iPad 3rd generation 2 weeks ago and I was deleting a photo and the screen froze up with multicolored lines across the screen, I turned it all the way off by holding the home button and the on/off button. I then tried turning it on but It wouldn't turn on. I let it charge overnight but it still wouldn't work. I connected it to the computer on Itunes and the computer recognized it. It is an IPad that I "rent" from my school, the technology teacher thinks it might be a software or hardware problem. I was wondering if it was an iOS 7 problem.  What do you think?

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. Happened to me once, about 6 months ago, and a reset got it working again.

  • My IPad screen is dark and will not turn on. I have charged the battery and nothing. I have tried to reset the device as well with no luck. Any suggestions?

My IPad screen is dark and will not turn on. I have charged the battery and no luck. I have tried to restart it multiple times with no luck. During the restart, the screen will flicker like it is trying to restart but the silver apple never shows. Any suggestions?

Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke.  If it has never been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • My ipad mini was overheat and won't turn on,

If the reset doesn't work, you may have to force iPad into Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, slide to turn off.
    2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune (make sure you have the newest version of iTune)
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

I just. Bought an iPad air 2  about two weeks ago. Was working great then it froze on me shut off and won't turn on now?

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure.
