after doing the system update to ios 7 the ipad lock screen came up and didnt have a lock code set up for it cant get past it

As it turns out, on iOS 7 it appears as though you need to accept cookies in the Safari settings for the rest of the apps to work!
I had all cookies blocked in Safari which was making Podcasts, Sky Go and NFL Game Pass hang. I changed it to block 3rd parties and advertisers only.....and they all work perfectly. Strange though, because that was never the case before, the apps seemed to work totally independent of each other.

You will have to force the iPad into recovery mode and data will be lost unless you have a backup.

I noticed a significant difference. Normally my iPad 2 would sit in my bag overnight and drain just a few percentages. Now it drains almost completely. I have turned off all services, fetch, location, etc - it helps a little, but the battery life is worse than before. When using my iPad 2 during normal usage, I could get through a couple flights and still have more than 50% battery - now I am lucky if it makes it the same time before getting to 0%. You have to restore the iPad by syncing to the original computer that you synced to.

Removing Disabled erases the contents of the iPad. You can redownload your apps, but the pics will be gone. If you have important files on your iPad, you should always backup frequently.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Why has ibooks slowed down on my iPad 2 since the iOS 8 download?

SInce my iOS 8 download on my iPad 2 device, the system drags through every move. Pages turn slowly, highlighting drags through the process, etc. it was very good before the download. My wife who has an Ipad 2 along with many other friends are having the same issue with ibooks. Can we expect a fix soon?

I have the exact same problem on my iPad mini. There is so much lag in iBooks after the iOS 8 upgrade that it's barely tolerable. It used to be that pages turned smoothly, books opened & closed smoothly, etc., but not anymore. I often find myself flipping accidentally through several pages because there is such a slow response time to my taps for advancing pages. In other words, I'll tap the screen to turn a page, nothing happens, so I tap again, & then suddenly iBooks will finally respond and 2 or 3 pages will flip. It's extremely frustrating.
Their is also some other general glitchiness (for lack of a better) word that I've been experiencing, but I'll try to observe it a little longer so I can better define what's happening.

HAve been searching forums for weeks now!
REsets have limited resolve so if anybody has any other suggestions here goes:
APPS either freezing or logging out constantly ( youtube worse with changing login details to another account I have) when apps load then definition effected with blurred images.
INTERNET connection often blocked. WIFI says connected but then get a message "no network"
iPad generally slow with keyboard taking several seconds to appear.
Mail no content!
REsets all been tried - used to favor iPad over everything else but now so frustrated with it.
SUggestions ?

After updating to 7.3 iOS on my iPAD 2 we didn't put a passcode, just skipped that step, and now it has some passcode and we don't know it!! It said to connect to itunes but when I do I still can't fix it because itunes said that we needed passcode to start. What the heck was Apple thinking not seeing this coming BEFORE releasing the update?? I took it to Best Buy and the Geek Squad said that they couldn't do it. I'm so mad.....anybody else having this problem? Please help if you know how...

The iPad rotation lock disappeared from its original location in favor of a mute button on the iPad when Apple released iOS 4.2 for the iPad on November 22, 2010.

November 22nd, 2010, the rotation lock functionality shifted from the slider next to the volume control, to a similar function on the iPhone iOS 4.2, as the iPhone and iPad operating systems were brought together. Apple documents the change here:
