I really should have explained this phenom a bit more in depth. I am using a 4th gen pad, 128gig, (my 3rd pad), no problems until this cropped up in the last month. Am familiar with the zoom command (three fingers); this goes to a zoom by itself when picking it up without purpostfully activating the zoom. It goes to the max not even the default (8X). so big I can't login the passcode. I've done the three fingers to restore but it takes multiple trys. Usually I will do the 'soft' reboot (2-button) which will eventually (several trys) "fix" it. Pad works normal for several days or weeks then goes into lala land again. I've also done the complete reset with backup/restore from my iTunes on my MAC Mini, but the inprompto zoom returned. Running IOS 8.0.2 which i hoped would solve it but had one episode since loading. It's annoying, hasn't damaged anything, lost data, apps yet, just annoying & frustrating when I try all the steps I know to remedy the effect & more so not knowing what the root cause is.

one thing you can also try is...
Try doing a hard reboot
1. hold the power and home buttons down
2. you will see the "swipe to turn off" screen come up... KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTONS
3. The screen will go black (turn off)... KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTONS
4. A white Apple logo will appear on the screen, now you can release the buttons. Let the iDevice boot... should only take a couple minutes.

Reset time. Press and hold both the power and home buttons for 10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. Wait 15-20 seconds for your iPad to start on it's own.

Turn it in to the local authorities - most likely it is stolen. Activation Lock is a
security feature in iOS 7 and later. Only the person who initiated the Activation
Lock can remove it. There is no workaround for Activation Lock.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

This morning apple had a msg that asked if I wanted to upgrade to the new ios 6.1 (?). I said yes. Now I can't use my phone. I've tried hitting the power and other buttons. I get a white apple on the screen. can't reset phone - doesn't work. what can I do besides take phone into Apple? This *****! I realize (now from reading internet) that my phone/system may be uncompatible. Help!

I have a 3GS (a true classic design!) and have upgraded it to 6.1 today. The process did not go without a glitch - it took a few attempts to get the app's to sync but after detecting the ones causing an issue and deleting them it works - so far! I have had issues about 50% of the numerous times a new OS is uploaded to this phone and always take the new OS with trepidation. But at least you know there is a 3GS with 6.1 working OK.
I suggest you do a fresh restart to the phone several times - without it being connected to the computer - to see if it gets its act together and starts. I think it will. Hold down the top 'power' button and front round control button until it shuts down - goes blank and dead. Then press the top power button to re-activate - reboot - it.
If that does not work then plug into your itunes computer, navigate in iTunes to see your iPhone and hopefully you will be able to sync it or at least 'restore iPhone' from the 'summary' tab.
If you can not get onto the iphone perhaps you will still be able to sync if in iTunes by going - 'file' - 'devices' - 'sync iphone' or failing that try transfer purchases' and ultimately 'restore from back-up'.
I had technical problems with my old 3GS (suffered a failed wireless antenna) so I took it to an Apple Store and they issued me with a service-replacement/reconditioned phone for a very modest charge. So if worst come to the worst get a new phone that way!

GmaiI crashes the iPad; everything locks up and I can't get any response.

I foolishly opened many Gmail messages on my iPad while looking for an old message. Now I can only open one or two messages before the screen locks and there is no response to any command. I have to go back Home and open mail again.
If I Delete my gmail account from the iPad in Settings, will that only delete it on the iPad. I would try deleting the account and then adding it back. Everything worked well with Gmail until I opened too many messages and I think overloaded it.

We have several Mac Mini's around the network running large HD "TVs" without issue. However, I have a new install that requires two of the 40" screens running in a mirrored view. The Mini will be running Windows 7 32-bit (Sorry). Will the current generation of Mini handle two of these? What dongles would I need?

Is my iPad 3g locked to ATT or can I swap out the micro sim with another GSM carriers micro sim?

I travel with my iPad to Europe frequently and would like to know if I can swap sims with a local carrier and use their data plane while overseas.

I attempted to upgrade my Ipad 2 from ios 7.2 to 7.4.
During the upgrade, the Itunes on my PC was prematurely terminated by a failed IE application.
the end result is that my Ipad is now stuck at the Apple screen, cannot be switched off, will not be recognised by the Itunes application running on the PC and is generally a brick.
Any suggestions? Please.

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Hold Sleep/Wake button down and slide to turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTune (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTune and plug.
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTune has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTune.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...

HP S5-1020 Bootup locks at HP screen & can't open bios screen

My desktop HP S5-1020 will not boot up. It locks up at the initial HP screen. Pressing f10 during startup multiple times does nothing, it never goes to the bios screen. There is no light on the keyboard so I suspect something wrong with the usb. I've tried different usb ports and different keyboards. All fans in case are running smoothly. Power light is constant green. I've removed the 2 ram dims and tried them individually by themselves. Nothing helps so far.
Any ideas what could be wrong?
