Ipad is not being recognized by Windows..I get a Code 43 error on any USB port I try. I have rebooted, restarted, blah blah til I am blue in the face. This is an Ipad not an Ipad2...I can't get this thing recognized by either my desktop or laptop. It used to work...not now.
Any ideas?

My iPad is not being recognized by the computer, therefore, cannot sync.  It charges when plugged to the wall, but not when pugged to iMac.

Most common culprits include the cable. Try swapping it out for a different one.. or not having the most recent version of itunes. I once even solved this problem by shutting down the computer for 2 minutes. (the longer the better), with the ipad plugged in. starting it up... then itunes recognizes it, launches, and syncs.
Apple has a troubleshooting assistant on this topic:
http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/itunes/
It will advise you to reboot. I recommend shutting down instead.

P.S The ipad should charge when asleep and plugged into your Mac. The charging behavior is normal. There isn't enough power out the USB ports to charge the ipad while it is on on some older Macs and nearly all PCs.

• My iPad is not being recognized by iTunes...

My iPad is not being recognized by iTunes.  I am trying to sync with my desktop so that I can reset everything since a train wreck associated with provider change has occured.  I've tried my iPod as well, and it isn't being recognized either.
Does anyone have any suggestions for this type of situation.  I thought it might be my power cord (so I reordered a new one), but the iPod uses a different one so don't think that is the issue now.
Many thanks in advance for all who respond to this scream of frustration.

Resolved!
After contacting Apple, I received a reply from their engineers:
Copy QTMovieWin.dll from:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
to: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
And that did the trick.

• TS1567 iPhone not being recognized by Windows 8 or iTunes

My iPhone is not being recognized by my Windows 8 laptop, or itunes. I have used the original cable and a new one. Both cause the computer to ding when the phone connects, but i cant find the phone ANYWHERE. I have stopped and restarted the Apple Mobile Support Service. And restarted my laptop.

All needed drivers are installed when you install iTunes and QuickTime. Try to reinstall the Apple software again, as explained in this article:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista,Windows 7 or Windows 8

Just got my nano and although it worked the first time I plugged it in to my laptop, it now can not be recognized by Windows, it is completely dead and will not charge at all...anyone else having this issue?

Hello Chloe
Start with the first article below to go over some general hardware troubleshooting to get a charge on your iPod nano. If you get that to turn on and you cannot get it to show up on your computer, then the second article should sort you out.

• IPod not being "recognized" by Windows XP

So I just got my 30GB iPod Video and I installed all the software and stuff. I hooked the USB cable up, but each time windows says "USB Device not Recognized". I looked at the message and it says something about a driver not being installed for the device. If anyone could help me I would love it!!! I've done EVERYTHING!!!

I hope this will help. I had installed my 5th Gen. 30 Gig iPod on my computer which originally only had 1.1 USB ports on it at that time, and it did sync and work, but I wanted to be able to sync faster. So, I had a 2.0 USB card installed. This card would not recognize my iPod at all. I reinstalled iTunes and iPod software thinking that would help, but nothing helped the 2.0 card simply would not work with the iPod.
So, I went to the iPod search site and did a search to find approved 2.0 usb cards. That yeilded several pages of approved USB cards. I took this list to my computer guru, they ordered me one of the approved cards, took out the first "generic usb 2.0" card they had installed and put in the new on. Guess what, it immediately worked when I plugged in my iPod!!! It copied 59.2 minutes worth of music to the iPod in less than 10 seconds! I am amazed how much faster it is.
I say all of this to say that your computer's USB card may not be compatible with your iPod. If not, change out the card with one that is. I hope you will have the same success I had. What a difference it makes! Good luck.

• IPod Classic 5th Gen (30 GB) not being recognized by Windows 7 Vista Netbook.

My iPod isn't being recognized I tried everything . Reinstalling Itunes. Resetting Ipod. Putting it in Disk mode. everything. I plugged it up to my school's mac desktop and it syncs and everything. On my Windows it doesn't even show up as mass storage device or anything. It's annoying. I just want to listen to music.
Is there a driver or something?
My friend said Registry fix, but i doubt it.
When I try to update driver, it says the most recent one has been updated.
This *****.
Please help

When you plug in the iPod does it even appear in Device Manager?  See this article for more details.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1496
Otherwise, I have a feeling that the USB ports on the Netbook don't output enough power to allow the iPod to fully communiate properly with the Windows Vista O/S.

• 5th Gen 80GB is not being recognized by Windows/iTunes

Alright guys, here's my situation. My iPod has always worked fine. Today I plugged it in like I do every other day. When I plugged it in iTunes did not recognize it and then I got a Windows message that said "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows cannot recognize it." I thought this was strange because NOTHING about my iPod/iTunes had changed whatsoever. Next, I was prompted to update to the latest version of iTunes so I thought, "Oh dummy, that was the problem, you had an old version of iTunes." Wrong. I updated iTunes and STILL no recognizing of my black beauty. Next I turned to the Apple website to see what it said. I tried all of the options except "restore" because I refuse to lose my collection on my iPod. I have also tried using a different USB port, but that wasn't the problem. Reminder: the iPod is not recognized under the Device manager. So now I turn to my brothers here to help me solve my problem.

Try a different cable and if that fails, see if it is recognised in another computer, if youre ipod is still within warranty send it back to apple, it may be the dock connector.
Good luck and welcome to the boards

• MOTU 828 mk ll not being recognized by Windows XP in Bootcamp

Hi All,
I have been pulling my hair out over this - and believe me I don't have much to spare! I cannot seem to get Windows to see my MOTU 828 mk ll audio interface.
I have Boot Camp installed with Windows XP service pack 2, updated to service pack 3. I ran the snow leopard driver installers again after I did the service pack 3 upgrade. I've installed and uninstalled the MOTU firewire/USB driver package over and over again, and rebooted ad nauseum, all without success.
I then tried upgrading the firewire drivers to the AVT FirePackage, thinking they might be more robust than Microsoft's. Reinstalled the MOTY drivers, etc - no change. Needless to say, the 828 mk ll runs perfectly under OS X, so I know there's nothing wrong with the unit, cables, or FW port on my tower.
Any ideas or insights would be greatly appreciated.
Eli

Hi Eli,
i´m actually facing the same problems using a traveler, no problems on OS 10.6 no detection on WIN XP.
I contacted Motu Tech links and Matthew a service technican wrote me that,
Hi Michael,
There is a setting in the Windows registry that controls the data rate between the FireWire adapter and connected devices. Adjusting this setting might resolve the problem you're experiencing. Please follow these steps to adjust this value in the Windows registry. Make sure to power off your Traveler before hand.
1. In the Start menu, choose Control Panel > System > Hardware. Click the Device Manager button.
2. In the Device Manager, expand the section titled IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers. Right-click on the FireWire adapter device to which the audio interface is connected, and choose Properties.
3. In the Properties window, select the Details tab. In the Property dropdown menu, select Device Instance ID.
4. In the Value field, you will see a string of letters and numbers that is similar to the following:
PCI\VEN104C&DEV_8020&SUBSYS_00D81028&REV00\4&19FD8D60&0&60F0
The second and third parts of this string are significant. The portion of the string between the two backslashes (\) is the hardware ID for the FireWire adapter. The portion of the string following the final backslash is the instance ID. Keep the Properties window open or save these values.
5. In the Start menu, choose Run. Type regedit at the command prompt. Press return to launch the Registry Editor.
6. In the Registry Editor, navigate to this registry subkey using the folder hierarchy at the left side of the window:
HKEYLOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetEnumPCIhardware_IDinstanceID
The hardware_ID and instance_ID are the values from step 4 (Device Manager > FireWire adapter properties > Details > Device Instance ID).
7. When you have reached this subkey, select Device Parameters. In the right side of the window, you may see one or more defined values. If you see a value named SidSpeed, continue to step 8. If the SidSpeed value does not exist in the right pane after you click the Device Parameters subkey, you will need to create it. To do this, open the Edit menu and choose New > DWORD Value. Type SidSpeed for the value's name, and then press return.
8. Right-click on SidSpeed, and select Modify. In the value data field, enter 3, and then click OK.
9. Close the Registry Editor program, and then restart the computer. After the computer has restarted, log in to Windows and test the problem again.
Hope this will do,
greetings, Michael

• IPhone 5 and iPad 3 not being recognized by iTunes

I have tried this:

and this:

and this:
http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/itunes/#section_7
I have tried different usb cables and ports and turning the lightning part of the usb cable over.  I have done a soft and hard reset on the phone. I have turned off and restarted my computer.
I have OSX 10.6.8, iTunes 11.0.4, iOS 6.1.4 (6.1.3 on iPad)
My phone charges when plugged in and iPhoto recognizes it and opens when plugged in. I am also seeing both in the Image Capture program.  I have been able to get the phone to appear in iTunes, but iTunes freezes up and does nothing.
Also, same issue and problems as above with my iPad 3.
This is the error message I get:

I have installed and tried to use iTunes 11.0 and 10.7 but no luck.  I can get my phone to show up but then iTunes freezes up and I have to force quit.  I can get my ipad to show up but when I try to sync, iTunes freezes up and I have to force quit.
I didn’t have an issue until I updated iTunes to version 11.0.4
