IPad isnt charging

Recently my IPad 2 died and i went to charge it but it wasnt working. It doesnt show the cord picture when i press the home button, and it only shows the picture of the battery with a little bit of red in it. This means that the IPad sensed it is plugged, but i left it on the charger for over 24 hours but it is still not charged. Is it possible that this is a problem with the charger or is this a problem with the actual IPad? Thank you for your answers!

Not charging can be caused by a variety of different things. First be sure to use the cable that came with the ipad ad plug that into the charger that came with the iPad. Do not charge by plugging into your computer. Plug it into the charger and then wait at least one hour. Then, while the iPad is still plugged in, Reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
Here are some possibilities:
1. No power in the outlet. Check to make sure.
2. Bad charger. Try a different charger.
3. Bad cable. Try a different cable.
4. Dirt or fuz in the connection port. Examine and clean if necessary.
5. Software problem in the iPad. Reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
6. Hardware failure in the iPad or battery failure. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

My ipad isnt charging when em connecting it with my laptop any one knows why ?

The iPad pulls 10 Watts of power in order to charge the battery.  The USB port on a laptop only puts out 2.5 watts (I may be off on this slightly but I know it is way less then 10) So yes you do need to use the 10 watt wall charger that comes with the iPad to charge it.  You can use the 5 watt charger from an iPhone but the iPad will not get to 100% charge and it will really overheat the iPhone wall charger.  Only do this in an emergency and keep a close eye on the charger as it will get REALLY REALLY HOT. I only do this when I don't have my iPad wall charger with me and only for about 15 minutes at a time.  Then I let the charger cool down for about 15 minutes before I plug it back in.
There is talk that future laptops will have usb ports that can push 100 watts but that is a way down the road I am sure.

  • Ipad isnt charging, please help

I have a first gen Ipad 3G that I just found out is 90 days over warranty.  Just this week it stopped holding a charge. I tried three different cables, plugs, into the Macbook pro and into the wall outlet, nothing.  So i brought it to an Apple store, they tried to charge it but to no avail.  They think the charging dock in the ipad is broken, but Apple doesnt change out parts only replaces the whole product when it comes to tablets, or so I was told.  And since Im 90 days over warranty the only help they could give me was to allow me to purchase another 1st Gen Ipad at a reduced rate of $369.00.  I don't have that kinda mula right now and since I totally forgot to re-up my warranty coverage in July, I dont really want to be stuck with a $800.00 broken Ipad collecting dust at home.  Has anyone had a similar experience and might know of a way to get this "part" changed out at a fraction of the cost to re-buying another.  Im not to happy with how Apple treated me, and as a avid Apple product consumer I'm thinking it might be time to look elsewhere.  Any advise, technical or otherwise is appreciated as this is a problem that needs to be solved in short order as I weigh my options.  Thank you.

If you live in a town large enough to have an Apple Store, you likely have a repair provider in your town.  They are not Apple service centers, but usually independed operators who service Apple devices.  For example, here in Tampa, FL., we have a store called iHospital.  They could service your iPad, so I'd see if you can find an 3rd party service center where you live.

I have had your exact problem with my old 3GS, now I cannot even get it to turn on, I still see that it is supposed to be charging though, but it never charges any so it seems.
I replaced the Lower Dock Connector Assembly back when it still charged while hooked to my PC, and it found it made no real difference.

  • HELP ipad not charging or connecting to pc

ipad 1 doesnt charge unless it is turned off fully it does not say anything on the batery sign i want to restore it but i can cause it doesnt show up on the pc or laptop

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Hi there, can't get my 1st ten. IPad to charge.

Help! Can't get my 1st gen. IPad to charge!

Are you using the charger that came with the iPad?  Admittedly the labeling is hard to read but, if you use a magnifier and squint your eyes, you'll see "Output 5.1V, 2.1A."  The symbol between volts and amps is the symbol for DC.  Do NOT use an iPhone charger.  Do NOT use an iPod charger.
If you are using the correct charger, you may well have either a charger problem or a battery problem and you need to contact Apple.  800-275-2273 in the U.S.A. and I think Canada.

  • When i plug my ipod in it doesn't charge or connect to itunes, or sometimes it says it isnt charging then i restart it and it will have full battery?

i plug my ipod in and the lightening icon doesn't pop up on the battery but that never appears. then i look later on and i will have full battery, but my ipod isnt charging at the moment and it doesnt connect to my computer?????????

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
It also could be due to a defective Lightning cable. Other uses have had problems with the cable.

I will be traveling to Rome and Paris and I'm concerned about frying my iPad when charging.  Will I need a converter/adapter when charging or will I just use an adapter?

what RBRY says. Look at the fine print on your power brick. It says 100v-240v. This means it can handle world wattage.....both the us 110 and the UK/and other places 220. Anything that displays that range works anywhere in the world with the right plug adapter.
You can get plug adapters at walgreens, walmart, target, kmart, best buy, office max, office depot.....almost any major retailer. Look in the travel/luggage area.
Do some googling and find out what Italian plugs look like or you can simply find a kit that is a 'world wide' kit.

  • Wifi iPad 3 charger stopped working after updating to iOS 6, help!

Wifi iPad 3 charger stopped working after updating to iOS 6.  The little iPhone charger charges it very very slowly, but the charger gets really hot after a while.  I restored it and everything works but the charger.  It's only a few months old, should I try a new iPad wall charger block?

    Hi,
I did this after reading the forums and it made no difference. it has actually charged from 14% to 67% but thats taken over 12 hours.
Will monitor it and if no joy will go to a apple store

  • Why does my iPad only charge from my Macbook?

I have the origional ipad (it does what I need so I don't see the point in upgrading) it has worked fine since I got it.
However recently a bizzare bug has appeared, it will only charge when plugged into my 2012 macbook pro but when I plug it into the 50W Mains adaptor it refuses to charge, what is going on? I have tired different cables, different chargers everything!

The iPad 1 charger is 10W not 50W. Make sure that the outlet that you are using is working.

My iPad2 will not charge all of a sudden I don't know why. I'm using a wall charger and the battery symbol doesn't show up as being charged.

Could be the cable, charger or iPad. Plug the cable into your computer, if it says not charging, the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • HT4060 For some reason my iPad wont charge at all I'm using the same charger I use on my other iPad n it still won't work

For some reason my iPad wont charge at all I'm using the same charger I use on my other iPad n it still won't work

Try giving it a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
But  if that charger works just fine with your other iPad and not this one, I'd call up your local apple store and make an appointment so they can look at it. Usually when an iPad wont' charge (when plugged into the wall with its supplied charger) it's
    Bad outlet
    bad power brick
    bad cable
and if the charger is working with another iPad then that rules that out and the thing left is something wrong with the 30 pin port on the iPad, or perhaps something with the battery or software that monitors the battery. ANd things like that are beyond a user fix.
On the upside if the device is still under warranty - and barring any obvious signs of abuse or neglect - then it should be covered under the warranty.
