Ipad/itunes accounts

i'll try to make this brief (forgive me).
i have my own personal itunes account on my macbook. i bought my wife/kids an imac, and set up a separate itunes account under my wife's name, so as to keep our stuff separate.
yesterday, i received my ipad. i went to sync it with my macbook, but my macbook software wasn't up to date (10.4.11). ipad could only sync with 10.5 or later. so i synced my ipad with my family's imac. unfortunately, the only songs i can download onto my ipad now, are my kids music.
i tried signing into itunes on the imac with my account, but the music was still my kid's stuff. i didn't try syncing my ipod with my itunes account on the imac, for fear of somehow losing all of my music on my ipod, and getting my kids stuff instead.
is there a SIMPLE way to somehow get my itunes music from my account, onto the imac, separate from my kids stuff, and then sync my songs with my ipad. even though, the itunes account on my ipad is under my wife's name, since i had to originally sync on "her" computer?

Any apps that you have on a Mac will sync with the iPad regardless of what store they have from
I have a US account and UK account. I can only access the US account direct from my iPad at the moment until the UK release.
Once the UK store is up and running and I can access direct from my iPad I will probably no longer use my US account although they do have some stuff not available in Uk, in fact I have downloaded iBooks from the US which I am sure I have read will not be available in the UK until later this year.
So to answer your question you use any account to download apps to your Mac and then sync via USB to iPad or to use app store direct from iPad at the moment you will need a US account, which is easy to do and you don't need a US credit card

How do I change my iPad iTunes account & content from an old computer (XP) to a new computer 8.1

    Hi RyanQuilty,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The first step on your new computer is to install the latest version of iTunes:

Then follow the steps below to backup your iTunes library from the Windows XP computer to an external hard drive:

Before connecting your iPad to the new computer, I would suggest backing it up to iCloud, and changing your sync settings to "manual" on the new computer:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content

    iCloud
iCloud automatically backs up the most important data on your device using iOS 5 or later. After you have enabled Backup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch inSettings > iCloud > Backup & Storage,
You can also back up manually whenever your device is connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi by choosing Back Up Now from Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.

  • HT4059 How do I browse US iBookstore if I have a U K registered iPad/iTunes account

How do I browse US iBookstore if I have my iTunes account registered in UK?
I have US dollar iTunes gift cards to use

I have just  "searched" for iBookstore USA. Once there I went through a purchase of an iPad case right  through to checkout. "Continue" briongs you to a page which asks your Apple ID... but alongside is a panel which states.."Continue as Guest".
I assume Apple are smart enough to realise that  moms and dads, aunty's and uncles may wish to purchase gifts for the junior ( or not ) generations of  iStuff users!
BUT I would also assume, -  that having a Gift voucher for the US store.. Apple US will not accept your UK delivery addess... but  nothing ventured....as they say.
As an aside I opened my Apple Account  in the UK... then moved to Aussie... I seem doomed to see all the prices in £s and miss out on anything none UK.

  • How do you sync iPad itune account to pc

I created a new itune account when I bought my ipad3. Now I want to sync my pc to this new account. However I had a old itune account on my pc which I have forgotten the password. How do I get my new itune account and music onto my pc?

Are you sure you set your 'media' conduits to 'synchronize'? You can check this by clicking on the hot sync icon (found at the bottom right of your computer screen right near where the time is displayed) and clicking on 'custom'
Then, make sure your palm user name is listed on the top and check to make sure media is set to 'synchronize the files'
Let me know if it says anything different.
Also, check the Palm Desktop program. You should see a 'media' icon on the left side of the screen and when you click on it, all your pictures should show up.

  • HT1689 I've downloaded music on my iPad on one iTunes account if I change account will I lose all my music

I've recently bought a new iPhone 4s and made my very own iTunes account . I was given an iPad an I've been using someone's elses iTunes account . If I change iPad iTunes account to mine--- will I lose the music on my iPad

Anything Obtained with an Apple ID is Tied to that Apple ID...
    From Here   http://support.apple.com/kb/HE37
I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

  • I would like to link my iPad to a new iTunes account. It is "locked" wrong

I will try to be clear here, thanks for your suggestions. I have been a iTunes user for years with a few iPods and iPhones linked to my iTunes account. All is operating perfect. I just received a iPad for business from my employer. When I registered it with iTunes (on my work PC) I signed up for a new iTunes account with a new Username and Password, credit card, etc. I think my mistake came when I plugged my work iPad into my home mac. This action opened up iTunes (as usual) to my home iTunes account. I copied a few albums over to listen to while traveling. I also wanted the iPad to charge up the battery. After battery was charged I disconnected the iPad. I then went to install an app on the iPad and when I clicked "install" for the app, the window appeared to enter your iTunes password......BUT the window indicated the iTunes account was for my personal iTunes user name, not the work User name.
So the question is: How do I "reset" (sych/marry) my iPad iTunes account to the new one I set up?
    Thank you!
    Chris

If you contact the iTunes Store they MAY merge you accounts. Did you by any chance sync with the home computer? You can manage music with multiple computer see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1202
On the iPad if you go to Settings>Store you can sign of of the existing iTunes account and sign into another account.

I can't change the country of my iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store account - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5375
I'm not clear as to your exact status but you should note: The iTunes Store in a country is intended for use only by that country's residents, and only while they are in the country. To use the iTunes Store in a country you need a credit card (or other card type if acceptable in a country) issued in that country, billed to an address in that country, and also be physically present in that country when using the store.  You are also restricted to waiting 90 days between country changes.

  • How do we split our iCloud accounts but keep one iTunes account so we can share purchased content for our multiple iPhones and iPads?

How do we split our iCloud accounts but keep one iTunes account so we can share purchased content for our multiple iPhones and iPads?

You can migrate a copy of the data to a new account, then delete the other person's data from each account.  To do this, on the phone that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that you want to keep on the phone, save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll. If you have any synced notes that you want to keep on the phone, email these to yourself so you can create new notes in the new account.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.  You will create a new icloud email address with you turn Mail to On.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting your wife's data from your account, and vice versa).

  • We have three Ipads in our house.  We have one itunes account with multiple devices like two Iphones and Apple TV.   My question is about our three Ipads.   How can I set up the imessaging and facetime on all three devices while only using one Itunes acct

Okay.  We have three Ipads in our house with only one Itunes account.   When I go into imessaging and facetime on each of the devices, it wants to start switching my wife's cell phone and then the three emails associated with each Ipad to the contact information for all of the Ipads.    As of this morning, only the imessaging and facetime are turned on my wife's iphone and ipad.   My kids imessaging and facetime is turned off.     Do you really have to have an itunes account for each device to make then work???    Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Ryan

There is only one solution. Each user must have their own separate user account. All of their respective data would be contained in their separate user accounts. This also means each will have a separate iTunes Library. If you all use the same third-party apps, then each will have to purchase their own copies under their own Apple IDs. Some data sharing is possible. See:
iTunes- How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
iTunes- How to share music and video

  • 2 computers, 5 family members with their own iTunes accounts. How do we share purchased iTunes and downloaded CDs with homeshare? (I can't get my old iPod music to all go onto my iPad)

    I have 2 computers - Windows Based
My husband, myself and the kids all have our own "accounts" on the home computer. This was done to limit certain access when the kids were younger.
The laptop is pretty much mine. I use both computers for my iTunes music.
Everyone has their own iTunes account for their music and games. I have been able to get music purchased by my other family members on my iPod in the past if I logged in the home computer under their IDs and attached my iPod. Or, if a family member downloaded a CD, I could get that music thes same way without having to download the CD again under my own login ID. However, I now have an iPad, and I can't transfer music from the iPod to the iPad - specifically that which was downloaded from CDs - not iTunes. And I couldn't get it to go from my iPod to my laptop, although both are authorized computers in the Home Sharing.
It doesn't seem like the Home Sharing works with the different computer login IDs. The iTunes is universally available regardless of who is logged in, but the libraries vary based on who's user name you are under. I have strugged with importing from one User ID to another, which led me to simply log in under a different family member to get the desired music. There has got to be an easier answer and I'm just not figuring it out.
I've read the support answers, I've read many of the other responses here as well to those with similiar questions, but I am still struggling.
    Any suggestions?

If you are completely confident that you didn't hide it, then you purchased those with different apple id. If you completely confident that you purchases with same apple id then you have hidden it. One of the other or you are speaking about a miracle. While miracles are possible they are not very likely. • HT5622 How many family members, computers, iPods,iPad,IDs can you have on one iTunes account?

I'm just trying to sort out some iTunes I'd issues.  Does anyone know how many total iPad iPods can be used with one Apple ID?  Or how many apple  IDs your can have with one iTunes account? Or does each person need there own Apple ID or Apple account? Thanks

You can't have multiple IDs on one account, but you can use multiple IDs for different purposes on the same device.
Just use the one AppleID for iTunes and the AppStore so you can all share your music and app purchases. Then each person should have their own individual AppleID with associated iCloud account for mail, contacts, calendars, iMessage and FaceTime.
You don't have to use the same AppleID for all services.

  • I currently have one iTunes account for my personal iPod Touch and for my work iPhone and iPad.  Can I create a separate account for work and keep my current account for my personal use - on the same computers?

I have an iTunes account for my personal iPod Touch - have had for several years.  When my work provided me with an iPhone and now and iPad 2, they all fall under my personal iTunes account.  Is it possible for me to create a separate account for my work devices and apps, while leaving my personal account intact?  I use both my compter at home and at work to sync occasionally.

A much simpler solution would be to go into Settings > Store and turn off Automatic Downloads

  • Can two people with two iTunes account share an iPad

Just a question.  I want to share my iPad but not my iTunes account.. How

    Yes.
When updating an app that was downloaded with another iTunes account, you must use that iTunes account and password. If the password for each iTunes account is not known by the other, you can't download any apps or iTunes content with the other person's iTunes account and vice-versa. The same for app updates.

  • Our family has multiple products from IPods, IPads, IMac, and Apple TV. However, we made a mistake when registering them so that we seem to have at least two different ITunes accounts. How do I combine them or reset the accounts to make them one?

Over the years we have purchased multiple products from IPods, IPads, to IMacs. Unfortunately, along the way, we accidentally created more than one ITunes accounts so that we can only access some songs etc on certain devices and not on others. How do we reset our devices to create one account or transfer our music to one account?

You don't. You cannot combine iTunes accounts at this time. Pick the one that you want to use and stick to that one account for all the purchases.
