IPad/iTunes Sync Problem

I clicked on "Sync Apps" in iTunes inadvertently. Now when I try to reset it, I get the message "Are you sure you don't want to sync apps? All existing apps and their data on the iPad (my iPadname) will be removed."

It does not remove the apps until you click on Apply. Even if you click Don't Sync Apps it will not remove the apps until you click on Apply in the lower right corner. You should be able to just click on Revert to go back to where you were. You can check the box next to Sync Apps - above the list of apps and you can select the apps that want to sync by checking and unchecking the boxes then click Apply

  • Please help! ipad/iphone to itunes syncing problems

For the past few days I've been having problems getting my ipad to take the new update.   Everytime I would tell it to update it would either freeze shortly into the backup or it would tell me that "itunes could not back up the ipad " " because the ipad backup could not be saved to the computer".  Anyways, I finally thought I fixed this by following the steps of deleting the backup, etc.  After I did that, it started giving me an error message of "itunes could not back up the ipad " " because a session could not be started with the ipad".  I've looked at other error messages associated with this, and they seemed to point at a direct ipad-itunes problem, but whenever I tryed to sync up my iphone, it gave me the same message.  It also is not connecting to the itunes store (will only say itunes store on a white background), but will download updates and things. I've taken down all potential firewalls, and I'm just plain stuck and confused right now.
Please someone help me... I feel like I'm losing my mind being unable to figure this out!

  • Itunes syncing problem...HELP!

Hello! I've got a REALLY annoying problem with my iPhone currently, out of nowhere it is crashing when syncing on step 2 the backup stage, I've looked through possible suggestions, tried numerous things but cant find a solution! Any ideas!?

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, Sync and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • IPad Calendar sync problem

Hello. I have a strange problem that has come up within the past few weeks.
When I create a new event in the calendar app on my iPad2 (ver 6.1.3), it doesn't sync with my other devices or iCloud. But, when I create a new event on any other device, my iPad will sync and the event will appear in the calendar.
So far I've tried going to settings>iCloud and turning Calendars OFF, then turning it back on. No luck there.
    Any other suggestions? Thank you!

    Hey KazMogi,

  • Lightroom for iPad.   Sync problem

Lr for iPad.  Syncing .... To iPad.  Just shows a folder , no images and a   symbol in empty box with " import from camera roll " any ideas welcome please !!!!!!!

TThe same thing happened to me a few days after installing the app. It seems that once the connection is broken, the Mobile collections simply disappear. I also had this happen when I booted my desktop and tried syncing the second time (oddly, not the first). LR told me it was trying to sync a different catalog. Thinking it was referring to the Mobile catalog (collection?) I clicked ok. My collections once again disappeared.
Seems the Mobile collections are "fragile"? Until Adobe gets the direction all the mobile apps are moving in totally figured out, I'd suggest making LR originated copies back into your ios camera roll. At least then rebuilding won't be so frustrating. Really hoping they link LRM and PS Touch in Creative Cloud. That seems like A very logical next step and would make workflow intuitive and very useful on the run.

  • IPad, iCal and iTunes sync problem

Early last year, I posted (https://discussions.apple.com/message/18503738#18503738) that syncing between my iPad 3 and my Snow Leopard iMac behaved oddly.  AppleCare Support dweebs had failed to resolve the issue and no one on here managed to come up with any suggested fix.
However, for no apparent reason, the problem stopped and I stopped monitoring this august and highly esteemed forum and all went well ...
    ... until recently.
I sync via a USB cable and I do not use iCloud (as I'm on Snow Leopard) save for Find My iPad, all other iCloud options are switched off.  All other app syncing appears to work correctly, it is only iCal and Calendars that don't.
Just why things have started to go wrong now, probably in the last three or four weeks, I do not know but now the following syncing errors occur ...
    1) On the iPad: new appointments or changes to appointments made on the iPad are not synced to the iMac;
    2) On the iMac, changes to appointments already on the iMac are shown on the iPad as both the new and old timings/details, not as replacements;
    3) On the iMac, new appointments are made in the default (or last) calendar used.  These are then edited as required, with the details put in and, if necessary, calendars changed.  On the iPad, however, these will show as both "New event" in the default calendar and as the edited correct appointment, not just as the finalised entry;
    4) Appointments deleted from the iMac are not deleted from the iPad.
In other words, changes on the iPad are not synced across to the iMac and changes on the iMac are synced twice, once as the unedited appointment and once as the edited appointment - if an appointment is deleted it remains on the iPad.
When the original problem arose (similar but not identical) the Apple dweebs suggested deleting my iCloud account (not synced, used only for Find My iPad) but doing that this time does not remove the bug.
I'm running a 27" quad-core i7 iMac under MacOSX.6.8 (Build 10K549), iCal v4.0.4 (1395.7) and I sync via USB  and iTunes v11.0.2 (26).  The iPad is a 64GB 4G/wifi iPad 3, currently running under under iOS6.1.3.  To the best of my knowledge, all available updates have been applied to both devices.
I have deleted all calendars off the iPad by deselecting Calendars in iTunes' iPad tab, turned it off.  Swicthed off the iMac, Safe Booted and run OnyX full suite, I have then Single User booted, run fsck -fy three times then run applejack AUTO restart, then rebooted the iMac, rebooted the iPad, sync'd without Calendars then resynced with the Calendars selected again.
I had hoped that this would remove any cache files, temporary files, stuck RAM or whatever else could conceivably be causing this bizarre behaviour - to no bl**dy avail!  It is behaving exactly and frustratingly as before!
What on earth is going on?  if I can't use my iPad as my main calendar and add new appointments when out and about and have them synced properly and reliably to my iMac then the whole thing is a waste of time andI shall have to revert to a paper diary again!
HELP!!!!! Please, before I go mad with frustration!

I'm not sure whether getting no replies to this (or the earlier) query is something of which to be proud - or terrified!
Am I the only person in the world with this bizarre insoluble problem?  if so, why me?  Am I a Chosen One or, more likely, someone to be punished for a lifetime of misdeeds!
But there is progress.  I have no idea what happened at a technical level or why, but the matter has now resolved itself and things are syncing normally.  Until the next time!
Perhaps there is a clue somewhere in the following ...
I run my iMac 24/7 and thus I rarely close iCal on the iMac and when i do it is usually by accident.  The same applies to Calendars on the iPad, although I do reboot from time to time.
Anyway, I installed some software on the iMac which required a reboot and, as susual, iCal opened via Preferences > Accounts > Startup items - only this time I was presented with a perfectly blank calendar.  A message appeared, from within iCal (oh, how I wish i had noticed what it actually said) saying something along the lines of "importing calendars".  This took a little while and it wasn't instant - maybe it does this every time it reatrts but too fast for me to notice.
After this "import", if indeed that's what it was, the syncing was corrected!
Coincidence?  Cause and effect?  Magic?  Too many magic mushrooms for breakfast?
If that is what resolved the issue, then how can I cause an import deliberately for when the syncing goes astray again and just what does an "import" do that a normal launch doesn't and which might have resolved the glitch?
I have had this "import" message before, but very very rarely, so it may well have resolved the syncing issue last time and I just didn't make the possible connection.
Does that help anyone come to my rexcue with an explanation and, possibly, a strategy for preventing or deliberatly correcting syncing issues in the future?

  • IPad Movie Syncing problem --  Greyed out in "On This iPad"

I have attempted to add "Home Video's" to my iPad.  They are MP4.  I am running the updated versions of ITunes and my Ipad.  I have been struggling with this problem for a while now.  When I check the Ipad, the "On This Ipad" shows the dotted cirlce and the title of the video is greyed out. I have other home videos that I added in a long ago sync that are active, but cannot get these active.  I have tried various settings ie. "Manually Managing Music/Video, Syncing only Checked songs/videos. I have had no success.
When I do go to sync it makes changes in the bar at the bottom of the screen, but then dissapears during the sycning process and reverts back to the orignal.  I Would appreciate some help.

I'm sorry I don't have a solution to post, but just want to say that I too (and I'm sure, among millions of others)  have experienced nothing but frustration and anger at all the ridiculous bugs that have happened seemingly without any interference from the user's end.
I can't even begin to list all the problems I've had since being forced to upgrade to iOS 7 on my iPhone(s) and iPad(s) being a family of Apple users. The OS "Music" app is completely useless now (half of my 1,200 songs are "greyed out" and unplayable), iTunes doesn't sync properly (it absonlutely refuses to transfer songs no matter how many options and selections in the various panes are checked off) and everything is INCREDIBLY slow.
I've read SO many possible solutions and fixes and, really, I don't have the TIME to be reading endless posts and screwing around "experimenting" trying to get it fixed. And Apple, as usual, is mum and nowhere to be found.
My advice to tech companies is to LEAVE THINGS BE -- especially if there is no real improvement. Unless the change significantly improves the functionality—changing the interface, buttons, or even the icons JUST BECAUSE is stupid policy and infuriates those of us whose lives don't live and breathe Apple...and just want a functioning phone.

  • Itunes sync problems (and wish list)

No doubt the iPhone is the most beautiful mobile phone with the greatest (and most consistent user experience). Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for iTunes! This tool (and being forced to use it) is the single greatest frustration in the iPhone experience!
I am sure many may not agree with me, especially considering it works fairly well as long as you don't change computers, want to sync two different iDevices (with same account BUT different content), temporarily remove apps/songs because of storage limitations, use app folders and expect iTunes to respect their content and placement, or try anything else outside iTunes limited scope. In short, iTunes is either incredibly non-inuitive, I am an idiot for not figuring it out, or it is absolutely the worst part about the iDevice family.
My problems began when I changed computers and since then, I have not been able to sync to my new computer. The problem is (or seems) that iTune is insisting on syncing in *one direction only*, with the message, "Are you sure you want to sync apps? All existing apps and their data on the iPhone "xxxxxxx" will be replaced with apps from this iTunes library." This message appears when I attempt to check the Sync Apps check box.
So what do I do? I have already deleted iTunes and reinstalled it.
    - Yes, I have right-clicked on DEVICES, and selected BACKUP and SYNC and TRANSFER PURCHASES (why so many options AND what the heck are the differences?)
    - If I ignore that dire warning and select Sync Apps, the preview window shows all my apps in a jumbled mess. In stark contrast, my iPhone apps are arranged in my own logical order and placed in organized app folders. I am afraid if I click SYNC, this is the mess that iTunes will send to my iPhone!
All I want to do is start over... I just want to back up (or sync) the contents of my iPhone like I have done for the past two years.
Can someone please tell me how to sync iPhone ---> iTunes?
I love iDevices... if I have to purchase another tool, I am happy to do so.
    What about Touchcopy? http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php?gclid=CPqksPK0wbICFYdxQgodV EQAGQ
Or is iTunes more capable than I realise?
Thank you for your kind assistance!

Oh yes, my wish list for iTunes:
    - Clearer messages that are more intuitive than what appears now.
    - The ability to store/swap apps/music/etc. temporarily off-line (because of iDevice storage constraints)
A backup/offline storage area that is ignored when syncing
    - iTunes should respect apps and app folder content and placements
    - Allow for multiple iDevices (with different content) on same iTunes account
I have an iPod, iPad, and iPhone - I want to be able to independently sync them on a single computer
      with a single iTunes account.
    - Make it easier to sync in either direction (and change sync direction)
    - Allow syncing (or backing up) of apps content. For instance, QUICKVOICE app! I cannot sync the content of this app! Apple doesn't allow access to the datastores (like Android) - very frustrating that I may have to resort to backing up this audio analog via an audio cable! Ridiculous!
    - Allow us to use the iDevice as a temporary USB storage device! Grrr... this is frustrating that I cannot do this! I admit, this has little to do with iTunes
However, it is the forced requirement of iTunes that is frustrating. This means that I cannot easily place documents to/from my iPhone (documents too large to email) when I at work because iTunes is not an allowed software.

  • IOS music library and iTunes syncing problems

    Hello,
Just wondering if the issues that have been bothering me for some time and with multiple recent iOS and iTunes versions are going to get fixed in the future?
Adding or removing music manually or automatically between iTunes and the iOS has resulted in the corruption of the music library on the iOS device several times and the solution to fix the problem is always to empty the device and to start over. For example today I noticed that the album art had disappeared from my music (a known issue) and I searched the forums for a solution. Well the solution is to empty all of the music from the device and upload it back again and the album art will be back. Great! Except the music got deleted and still the space in use is showing "other usage" for the exact size of my deleted music library. If I try to add some music it adds to the space of the mysterious occupied space and the device is soon full. Time to start from scratch again. The syncing is broken and the software is buggy and I'd like it to work flawlessly instead of starting from scratch every time I'm making any minor changes to my music library. I think the reliability of the software and the basic functions is more important than the ability for the phone to ring in the computer whenever I get a call. Which is pretty amazing in someone else's opinion I'm sure.
Oh yes and the iPad is not uploading updated apps to the iTunes automatically which it did some software versions ago (a known issue). This is annoying.

    Schpoiler,
I had the very same problem with you. I think the main reason for this happening is purchasing and downloading content with your phone. I don't know how it happens though, this seems the problem with me.
What I did is, I basically erased all content and settings from my iPhone and used my backup in my mac to install everything back again. After that, the "other usage" got really small in size and as I deleted all the songs by using syncing, I saw that music occupied no space in my phone. Then, I synchronized my music back again and now everything works just fine.

  • IPhoto / iTunes Sync Problems

Hi all, not sure if anyone else is having this problem.
Since the upgrade to iTunes 10.5 and iOS5 and iPhoto 9.2 and OS X 10.7.2 (phew!), I've had problems with photo synchronisation on my iPad and iPhone.
    So....
iPhoto reports that it has 2,610 photos in the library.
iTunes, when I select "all photos", says that it has 2,588.
My iDevice (whichever one it is) says it has 1,410 photos.
I'm not entirely sure why, but not all the pictures are transferring across, despite there being plenty of space. Synchronisation gives no error messages and completes like everything's ok. It's only when I open up "photos" on the device concerned that I can see there's a problem.
With the upgrade to 9.2, I used the "cmd/option" button thingummy to try a rebuild of the entire iPhoto database. That helped a bit (got another 26 pictures across during sync), but hasn't cured the missing items problem completely.
The missing pictures problem seems fairly indiscriminate - all the albums seems to be missing a few, so it's not as though I can say there's a particular cut-off time that's given rise to the issue.
Anyone got any suggestions? I've also repaired permissions and all sorts in an effort to rectify things.
    Thanks,
    M.

I suggest that you try to reset your sync history. Open iSync, go to preferences, and click Reset Sync History.

  • Ipad 2 syncing problem.. please help..

i have recently bought an ipad 2.. earlier it would sync when i connected it to itunes however now it doesnt. i hv downloaded new apps into itunes that are not gettin transferred to the ipad.. the ipad is gettin detected and when i press sync den it whizzes through the apps but doesnt transfer the new ones. what can i do?

Can you try following to see how things behave:
    1) wirelessly add a new app to the iPad
    2) connect the iPad to the MacBook with iTunes running
    3) select the iPad and go to the Apps tab
    4) select Sort by Name for the apps list and scroll to where the new app should appear
    5) move to the home screen containing the new app
    6) perform a Sync
I saw 6 phases during my test. During the 3rd phase I saw the new app being copied over. You should see "Copying xyzapp..." type messages. During or after this phase, the new app should show up in the apps list and it should appear with a check mark. Is this what you see?
My guess is that an error is occurring in one of the steps prior to the app copy phase and that phase is being skipped. Maybe iTunes later checks the app list and not seeing an entry for the app, removes it from the iPad.
One other test to try is, if possible reinstall the app wirelessly (you should be able to get to it through the Purchased list in the App store) or get another app. Do the Transfer Purchases menu option. This should place it on the apps list with it checked. It you do a Sync, it should leave the app on the iPad. If the transfer purchases does not work, then the problem should be just with that process.
I would say try to use your free phone support contact if you are eligible as no part of your sync process should be failing. Hopefully you will eventually get to someone that can guide you through pinpointing the exact point of failure.

  • Ipad 3 sync problem

I received my 3rd gen iPad on Fri.  It seems to hate syncing.  First time up, it had a problem and I tried several ubs ports until one worked.  Now each time I attempt to sync either the iPad is not found, an internal error occurs and ends sync or iTunes hangs.

From everything that I have read, it takes a bit longer to charge the new iPad battery than the two previous iPad models and it takes more power than most USB ports supply in order to charge it. The iPad may read "not charging" but it may still be charging at a very slow rate - a trickle charge at best.
Apple has always recommended that you use the power adapter and plug it into a wall socket for most efficient charging. If you must charge from the Mac, turn the iPad off and leave the Mac running and awake. It really is better to plug the iPad into the wall socket using the power adapter.
Is the iPad syncing now? Do your phone and iPod sync OK?

when I sync my iphone 5 to same iTunes account, no problems, but did not load ios8 on iphone

  • IPad air syncing problem of video

When sync the photo and video from PC to iPad air, the video only shows just a photo in the iPad air, can't play. But iPad 2 is no problem.
iPad air was sync under ios7.0.4, the iPad 2 was sync under ios6.

Since these same songs will sync to your other Apple devices, that would rule out the songs being in the wrong format, or any other issues with the way that they were ripped.
Your iPad charges from the power socket normally and connects to iTunes OK, so that rules out the cable. The USB ports on some computers do not supply enough power to efficiently charge the iPad and while the iPad may in fact be charging, you will see the "not charging" message.
Check is in the Summary. Pane of iTunes when the iPad is connected to see if you have Manually Manage Songs and Videos selected. If you have it selected, unselect it and sync again.
