IPad keeps trying to erase itself

So yesterday I thought I lost my iPad while I was out. I used Find my iPhone to erase all the data on it figuring that if it was returned to me/if I found it I could just restore from a previous backup. I found my iPad a couple of hours later, but when I found it the screen only had the little buffering circle on it. I was confused because I thought that if I deleted everything HOURS before that it would be done by the time I found it. Well, 36 hours after initially trying to erase everything it's still stuck on the buffering circle screen. I've turned it off completely by holding down the power and home buttons, but when it turns back on, within 5 seconds its shutting down to try and delete everything, but it never deletes anything. It just stays stuck there. It also won't go into recovery mode, and won't stay on long enough for me try to reset it from iTunes. I haven't found any solutions for this online. Any suggestions? Is my iPad gone for good?

Recovery Mode should work. Are you doing the following:
Connect the iPad to the computer via USB
Hold the home and power buttons at the same time
When you see the Apple logo, let go of the power button but keep holding the home button
You can let go of the home button when you see "Connect to iTunes"

  • Bing Bar 7.0 (KB2626804) Keeps trying to install itself on my HP and Fails.

Hello, I have upgraded my system to Windows 10 Pro, and ever since it has been trying to install the Bing Bar 7.0 and failing. I dont need it. Dont have it. Didnt have it on my Windows 7 Pro. So I have no idea why it is trying to install it on my system. I have looked everywhere on my computer, and it is not in the programs to be installed. I have even looked in all of my browsers, to make sure that it wasn't hidden in any of those. It isnt. So I did a DxDiag on my system to see what it had to say, and when it uploads and fails, the Diagnosis says: +++ WER2 +++:

  • Roxio Media Manager - It keeps trying to install itself

    Hi Everyone,
Roxio Media Manager continuosly tries to install itself and it won't go away.  I tried to uninstall it but a window pops up that states Windows Installer is running.  I tried to force quit the installer and/or Roxio, but I don't see anything in the processes panel.
I tried running registry cleaners, tried an aftermarket uninstaller program... nothing has worked.  What's worse, the Windows Installer window keeps popping up and interrupts everything I'm trying to do on the computer.  I can't even let it go in the background and ignore it.
Not only that, but it is also bogging down the processor immensly.
Everywhere I look on the internet, people keep suggesting a windows clean up utility from the Microsoft site, but that download is no longer available (apparently it too was causing problems)
The only other suggestion was http://forums.techarena.in/windows-xp-support/898890.htm and recommended that I download & reinstall "Desktop Manager 5.0.1 B73 Multilanguage with Media Manager", but that file is obsolete now and is no longer on the RIM site.
I'm at a total loss for what to do next.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!
    Rob

  • My Iphone 4 keeps trying to turn itself off and also takes random screen shots.  I think it might have something to do with the Sleep/Awake button but any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Iphone is constantly trying to turn itself off and also taking screen shots when I'm not touching it.  I think it may have something to do with the Sleep button but would welcome any suggestions. I have already restored it to Factory settings but it didn't help.
    Thanks,

  • How can I [politely] tell iTunes NOT to keep trying to start itself up

Logged into my PC. Get a dialog, "iTunes cannot start up because another user has it open. Tell that user to quit and try again". I say OK. Well, that dialog returns after a few minutes. So, i try the "X" on the dialog. It returns after a few minutes. I kill the iTunes process. The process restarts and the dialog returns after a few minutes. For this user account, i delete every folder and reference to iTunes under this User. The dialog returns.
It wouldn't be so bad if i could just minimize the dialog and let it be. But, every few minutes it pops to the foreground and interrupts what i'm doing. Now, talk about being SUPER RUDE!!
All I want to say to this dialog is "fine, its ok that another user has it open. No, i do not want to tell them to quit. So, please do not keep trying to launch". Or, less politely, "Stop driving me #$#$&&$^ crazy".
Is there any way i can give the message i just said, get rid of this dialog? No, i can't log into that other account -- don't know the password. But, i want to work on the PC without being incessantly bothered! I never use iTunes from this account, so I'd be happy to shut if off forever, for this account.
    Thanks,
    tom

Something on your PC is auto-launching iTunes, if it is not that iPod setting. Do you have any itunes plug-ins? Such as, an instant messenger that shows what itunes is playing?
You might need to have some quality time with Task Manager > Processes tab, looking at what processes are running and what gives a blip on CPU usage right before iTunes gets launched.

  • Mac won't sleep but keeps trying to wake itself

Whenever I put the lid down or press the sleep button, the indicator light doesn't start flashing but just stays on and then every 30s or so the comp makes a whirring sound like its trying to wake itself or open even though its not asleep. Once in a while it does actually go to sleep but then after an hour or so it trys to wake itself up again repeatedly. Help!

I have the same problem; it is caused by the USB mouse, and wasn't cured by restarts or resetting SMC. I also tried the combo update on top of the regular 10.4.9 update and still no dice.
I had this same problem with my old PowerBook using earlier versions of Tiger. The only solution was to go back to Panther which allowed me to sleep without unplugging the mouse.
Apple really needs to solve this sleep vs USB problem. It has been popping up in numerous versions of OS10. Does anybody know a workaround besides unplugging the mouse every time I put it to sleep (really *****) or backdating to 10.4.8?

  • My iPod wont turn on anymore. I have had my iPod since the end of January of 2012, Last night it shut off on me. It keeps trying to reboot itself, but all it does it show the apple symbol, then the screen goes white and reboots again. I need help. :(

    Hi, My name is Cassie.
I bought my iPod off of amazon just around the end of January of this year (2012). Last night I was playing around on my iPod. Listening to pandora, and editing pictures. I got to a picture and clicked edit, and then my iPod shut off. It rebooted itself and seemed to be running as if nothing had happened. I put my music back on and went back to the picture and tried to edit it again. I clicked the edit button and the ipod shut off again. This time, it kept rebooting. It went to the apple symbol to turn on and about thirty seconds, the time it normally takes to turn on, the whole screen went white and then shut off and tried rebooting again. It kept doing this over and over again. After a while, it did eventually stop, but only to a completely white screen. It was like that all night long because I fell asleep. (gave up on it). It is now the afternoon and after I held the lock button and the home button down the screen when off. I let it sit for about a half an hour, then I tried turning it on again. But it still is doing the same thing. I have no idea what I could have done to make it do this. Unfortunalty, I am not home to connect it to my own iTunes, but regaurdless, it wont even connect to the computer. I did have my ipod plugged in the whole time it was rebooting and shutting off last night. It was connected to my wall jack which normally works fine. But even having it plugged into the computer as it is now, its still doing the same thing. I am dissapointed that I might end up loosing everything that I have on it. I have not been able to sync it to my computer to save all the apps and pictures and music I have stored on it. I really do hope I can get some help or advice!
    Thank You!!
    -Cassie Lawrence

  • My Mac turned on right and then died. And now it won't do a proper startup it just keeps trying to turn itself on. What do I do?

The Mac has been turned off for about a week while I've been away and when I came home The Mac was like it turned on just right and then suddenly it died and then I was able to turn it on a few times to get to the startup screen and even to the type-your-keyword screen before it died and now it just keeps doing a little I'm-trying click even tho I'm not pushing any buttons. And sometimes it makes a sound like a plane taking off. It's very strange. Also the power is connected and glows green so it shouldn't be a question of battery time. I bought the pro last November and it really shouldn't be having issues already.

That means your warranty is in force.  You paid for it so use it.  The Apple store genius bar technicians will put it right.
    Ciao.

  • Adobe digital editions keeps trying to install itself,

I am running Windows 7 64 bit, my OS is a fresh install (3 weeks old). At random times during computer use, adobe digital editions attempts to install itself (even though it is already installed) and then multiple error messages spawn saying 'an instance of adobe editions 4.02 installer is already running'. Sometimes this will spawn 20+ error messages even if I immediately hit the cancel button on the installer.
I've gone through my entire computer and deleted every instance of the editions installer exe, checked my startup in msconfig, ran malwarebytes; spybot; security essentials; emptied temporary files; uninstalled digital editions and tried installing using the prompt.
The prompt seems to occur more often after starting my computer up, sometimes I will receive a chain of 3-4 separate instances in the first 5-10 minutes of boot. But the installer does then also randomly occur during regular computer use, even when idle. This is becoming incredibly frustrating as it the installer forces my screen to itself, dragging me out of whatever program i was using at the time.
Any help would be much appreciated, please let me know if I can provide more information in solving this stupid issue.

Well I found my own solution, it may help you as well. When I got the install error, I opened up task manager and switched over to the 'processes' tab. I selected one of the instances of the error, right clicked and hit 'open file location'.
This took me to the file within my windows user folder, which seemed to be some partially installed temp file. Delete that file (shift+delete) and the stupid problem should go away.

  • IPhone 4 got wet; keeps trying to turn itself off.

I accidently got water all over my iPhone and i dried it out with rice and a blow drier. Everything works except the power/lock button is malfunctioning. It randomly locks and the screen lights up and the shut-off slide screen keeps appearing. How can I get this to stop?

I am assuming you alread tried a full Reset (hold down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the off slider, wait for the Apple logo, let the buttons go)? If that does not work try Restoring it as a new phone in iTunes.
Just for future reference, using a hair dryer on an small electronic device is a bad idea, it blows moisture even farther into the device. Only resort to using it if you have disassembled the entire device.

  • BBM stopped working and keeps trying to restore itself

My BBM has suddenly stopped working. When I click on a BBM from the Hub I get an option to Setup or Cancel. When I click setup it tries to restore but it just hangs. I've waited over an hour multiple times.
I've tried to reboot and done a battery pull but the same thing happens.
When I try to open the BBM App itself it goes straight to restore and then hangs.

There many ppl complaining of this issue today, please check this thread: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Z10/blackberry-z10-restoring-your-bbm-information/...
A new thread isn't required for the moment.
P.S. A solution though hasnt yet been found.

  • What is ac.aspx and why does it keep trying to download itself onto my computer?

this download keeps showing up in my downloads when I'm on a certain website. im scared that it's a virus so i delete it as soon as it shows up. does anybody know what this is or how i can combat it? Thanks.

The type of file the name is associated with is in use for web browsers, and some content online, in both Mac and PC.
But your computer should not need it installed, so refuse it and check your browser security and privacy settings...
You should look into the security settings for web pages, and choose to not allow cookies from other pages, or images from other sites, and see what kinds of things you can screen or filter, that way. And privacy, you can be more anonymous when visiting pages and still see their content.
re: ASPX pages are also called ".NET Web forms."  They can be identified in a Web browser when the URL in the address field ends in ".aspx". Or in a hidden or download file.  There are warnings, found in searching the ASPX topic, and as executable files, you should not bother opening them... *example:
Warning: Take great care when opening executable file formats received via email or downloaded from websites you're not familiar with. See a* List of Executable File Extensions for a listing of file extensions to avoid & why. -- This, as found *here: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fileextensions/f/aspxfile.htm
What browser(s) do you use, & what version OS X does your MacBook run?
None of the pages I visit offer to download anything,
but then I have set some boundaries in the browsers.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • My iPad keeps trying to authenticate an email that isn't mine, what should I do?

It also does it on my iPhone. And recently all my contacts disappeared off my iPad. I recovered them but I feel like there is a virus or something messing with my apple products and they say they don't get viruses. Any helper?!

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.
