Ipad keyboard double letters

Hi,
When typing on my iPad keyboard sometimes it types double letters instead of just one letter. For example if I write Chelsea it will sometimes type Cheelseea. The problem is not unique to one letter.
I have rebooted iPad but problem persists. Can anyone recommend a fix?
Thanks.

Over a year ago and no answers. Did you ever get this fixed? I have the same problem.

  • Moto Droid physical keyboard double letters

Ok I bought a Motorola Android for verizon about 8 months ago. And its been working fine for 6 and a half months but then of course my power button randomly broke... I think it is the little spring inside somehow broke? Anyway this is annoying and i am sure i can get it fixed but not my biggest concern.
About a month ago my keyboard (physical qwerty) keyboard started acting weird. (I haven't 'hacked' or updated my phone through the internet) for all intensive purposes it is brand new). When i typed a message it began to miss some letters and double others; example 'hey what's up" became 'heey watts uup'. It started off small, and a double here and a miss there but in the past month it has gotten HORRIBLE. At this point I can not even use the keyboard, when i type in passwords on internet or google search it is unrecognizable. I just tied typing 'hey how are you' in the google search and got 'y h r yo'... As you can see it is completely screwed up... pushing hard on keys or any of that doesnt help. I am pretty sure i need to go into my local verizon store... 40 min away! and get a new phone or replacement of this one, and since i am in 1 yr it should be free right? BY the way, 3 out of 4 of my friends are beginning to have same problem with their droids! they are in the beginning stage tho and it isnt as bad as mine... but it seems to be getting worse for them too!!!
Lots of questions let me break down it here:
    1) anyone else having this problem
    2) has anyone resolved this
    3) will verizon fix/replace my phone
3a) if so i here you can get the droid x instead (saw some forums) this true?
    anything will help thanks!

I've been having the exact same problem for 2 months now and my phone is not even 1 year old yet.
I never use the onscreen keyboard because it is so inaccurate (and I don't even have very large fingers); it just never indicates the letter on screen that I wanted, always the (wrong) one next to it.  So I have nly ever used the flip out keyboard to do any typing, and for at least the past 2 months, it is always doubling up on any vowels that I type, only the vowels.  I guess because they get used so much, they are wearing out - which is awful.  Nothing is made to last any more.
I too am dreading having to waste a chunk of my Saturday to go to a Verizon store and get it sorted out.  And get the usual "Oh, but now there's a brand new model and if you sign up for another 2 years, you can get it for free instead!" spiel.....

  • What causes double letters with a single keystroke while in Calendar. I am using vs 10.10.2 with wireless keyboard. Have closed/opened Calendar, switching keyboard off/on, took out batteries on keyboard and have restarted computer.

What would cause double letters with a single key stroke while adding information to Calendar? Version: 10.10.2  wireless keyboard 27" iMac  3.4 GHz i5. Have restarted computer, have closed/opened Calendar, switched on/off keyboard and taken batteries out/in of keyboard. The problem only happens while typing in Calendar.
Not sure if I am accidentally hitting an unknown key to cause the problem or if it is a Calendar issue.........paul

Try changing System Preferences/Keyboard/Keyboard/Key Repeat to a slower setting. Test.

  • IPad typing causes double letters

When typing on the iPad the letter n and u frequently result in double letters also n can produce nm or mn also full stops can appear at random.
Are there any solutions to this problem?

Boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and see if the problem persists there.  If not then reboot normally and try again.

  • Keyboard intermittently typing double letters and numbers

My Pavilion laptop intermittently types double letters.  I'm running windows 8.1 and the unit is about 6 weeks old.  It has done this eever since I got it.  I've look at other links to problems similar and checked the double key rate.  Also I've pluged in a generic keyboard and it appears not to do it.
    Any specific suggestions?
    Thanks

This is usually an easy problem to fix with HP laptops
HP keyboards are bit different that what MS default settings expect. Usually this can be fixed in keyboard settings.  In Windows 7 click the orb, in windows 8 bring up the menu OR just tap the Windows key if its on a keyboard
type in "keyboard" and click to keyboard [settings]
You may find the default Repeat dalay is the lowest possible setting. This rate is too short for the sensitivity of HP keyboards as the key signals down before its fully pressed, and doesn't stop until its halfway up.  Very clean, accurate keypress, mistaken for a hold.
Turn the delay up (Long) and this should stop it.
(I tried for weeks to find this in BIOS, but as of Windows 7 its now controlled by the OS)

  • BUG - client-side iPad keyboard in MRD 8.1.5 is mis-mapped for remote VMware Player console on Windows 8.1 Pro

Client system: iPad 4 running iOS 8.1.1
    Client language/locale: US English
    Client app: MRD 8.1.5
Server system: 64-bit Windows 8.1 Pro
    Server language/locale: US English
Problem: client-side keyboard in MRD 8.1.5 does not work properly within VMware Player 6 console only
When interacting with VMs through the VMware Player 6 console app on the remote Windows 8.1 host, the client-side iPad keyboard for MRD 8.1.5 is not properly mapped. Letter keys and the top-row number keys send function keys or non-standard key scan codes
that aren't used by traditional PC keyboards. The spacebar sends the D key, and some keys send nothing at all. Many other keys work properly, including the client-side numeric keypad, and uppercase letters sent by using the Shift key (but not the iPad up-arrow
shift key). The only way to send the proper keystrokes to VMware Player from MRD 8.1.5 is to not use the client-side iPad keyboard and instead switch to the on-screen keyboard provided by the remote Windows server.
This problem only occurs within the VMware Player console app, and only with RDP connections that use the MRD 8.1.5 client on iOS. I do not encounter the problem with other iOS RD clients such as iFreeRDP by Thinstuff or Pocket Cloud Remote Desktop by Wyse.
    Steps to reproduce:
Connect to Windows 8.1 Pro system from the MRD 8.1.5 client for iOS 8.1.1
Using the client-side iPad keyboard within MRD 8.1.5, bring up the Run dialog by typing Windows-R
Launch Notepad by typing notepad.exe in the Run dialog and pressing Enter on the client-side iPad keyboard
Type some sample text in Notepad until you're confident that the client-side iPad keyboard is functioning properly
Launch VMware Player 6 and start up a VM (mine was Windows Server 2008)
Open the sign-on prompt in the VM by sending Ctrl-Alt-Ins from the client-side keyboard or by pressing the Ctrl-Alt-Del icon in VMware Player
Touch or click in the password field in the VM to ensure it has keyboard focus
Using the client-side keyboard, try to type letters or numbers in the password field, and notice that dots generally do not appear for most keypresses
Switch to the server-side on-screen keyboard and delete the contents of the password field if it is not already empty
Use the server-side on-screen keyboard to sign on to the VM
Inside the VM, open Notepad or some other text editor
Enter text into the editor from both the client-side and server-side keyboards to verify that only the server-side keyboard is functioning properly within the VM
This issue is the only problem I'm having with MRD for iOS, and I hope it is resolved soon.
    Thanks,
    Fred

  • IPad keyboard question.

can I force my ipad keyboard to open? I run a program that requires an 'enter' command, in a non 'type-defined' area of the page.
Many thanks for your help in advance.

    Thanks Sergio, Thanks Fred.
Fred, nothing dodgy going on I assure you
It's my work mail program - Novell WebAccess. On my MacBook I can highlight an email and then hit enter to open it, or alternatively double tap.
On the iPad I can highlight the email with a single tap, but not being text-defined (apparently) means that no keyboard shows. Double tapping only zooms in and out......
I have to say I don't know the Novell software very well, and so I'll check this also, but I can't see anything in the Novell settings to allow me to open email in a different way.
    Any thoughts?
Sergio, you're right that a physical keyboard would no doubt sort it, but I have my laptop for that. It's the sheer portability of the iPad that I was sold on.

  • IPad keyboard limitations (sorry if this has been the subject of endless posts BUT I still see no solutions)

iPad keyboard limitations: Is there any way to obtain a better keyboard (or any chance of this changing e.g. after an upgrade to iOS) especially for text editing: specifically delete key and cursor arrows or similar (found a great idea at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGQTaHGQ04Q&feature=plcp), without adding an external keyboard (at which point my laptop looks more appropriate)

I like the virtual keyboard on my iPad 1, IT WORKS GREAT, easy for me to see, my big fingers have NO PROBLEM in using it, I don't hit the wrong keys or get double characters, etc.  I have ZERO complaints about the keyboard.

-hard reset (power button +home button in tell you get a apple logo or thirty seconds)

  • IPad keyboard behaving erratically.

I am using a new 10w USB charger for my iPad and when I try to use the touch keyboard it starts behaving erratically. I touch a letter and other letters appear and when I touch the delete button more letters appear? When i unplug it the keyboard is fine, is this a problem with the charger?

I would try another charger now. Borrow one if you can or take your iPad and your charger to an Apple Store.
If the iPad keyboard behaves erratically with another charger, it could be an issue with the iPad. If you switch chargers and the problem goes away, then I would assume that the charger is the culprit.
Does this make sense to you?
You can also try this and  see if it makes any difference. Do this while the iPad is not plugged in and charging. Reset the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Typing Double Letters

When I type, double letters often show up... any ideas for a fix?
I thought it was the microsoft keyboard I was using that was just getting old, but I just bought a new aluminum keyboard two days ago, and the problem is still happening... and, I installed the keyboard firmware update, too.

Well, it's a bit drastic, but it got fixed for me.
My Finder started crashing and restarting every ten seconds or so... couldn't find a fix, and had to go through a complete Erase & Install.
No more double letters, though, knock on wood. If they ever come back, I'll let you know what I installed to make it happen again.

  • Q10 double letters while typing

    Good day,
I presently have a Q10, had it for a little over a year, I was given this by my company in Australia, I presently work in Indonesia but live in Canada. While typing the keyboard has a tendancy to double up on letters, I have noted via the forums that this is a common problem. Now I cannot take the phone back to Australia, not sure I want to turn it in here in Indonesia (I am very far from a large center) but I do live in Canada. If I take this phone to Telus or someone like that will they hounor it and have it repaired, again this is a common problem so obviously a design problem.
What the heck should I do to get this sorted.
    Thank you for your time
    Dave

I was hoping this latest software upgrade (Feb 2015)  would resolve the problem but it didn't.
    Hello,
Given your two symptoms, I would deduce something physical is the problem...a hardware fault, defect, something broken inside, etc. However, hardware problems are of course impossible to truly diagnose at an internet distance...only in person evaluation by a qualified BB hardware technician can provide you with a true diagnosis (and hopefully also a remedy).

  • Safari keeps typing double letters

I'm using Safari for Windows (5.1.1) and it keeps typing double letters in web forms, etc. - although it does stop when I reboot the browser.  Any help will be much appreciated.

    Solution Found:
The culprit was Keyscrambler, an anti-keylogging prog made by QFX Software.
When Keyscrambler was active, the double-letter thing happened when typing into any Safari form fields. Disabling Keyscrambler solved the problem.
I discovered this accidentally by going to XP's Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Keyboards, and looking at the driver details for my Logitec USB keyboard. The Keyscrambler driver was listed there so I thought there might be a connection. And there was.
I see a number of Safari double-letter complaints on the web and your particular reason for this fault may be different to mine. I've notified QFX about the fault.

  • Ipad keyboard repeats typed charachters

when typing using the ipad keyboard , for example if i search using the safari search box it will repeat the typed charachters and therefore I am unable to use the typing function properly.   I have tried looking in the settings for 'repeat' or something and nothing helps.    I assume it is a software issue with the interface of the touch screen and the keyboard programming.  Maybe it's time for Apple to update the ipad software to fix this A.S.A.P.    Any ideas anyone??  thanks.

If you come back to to read this .... Closing apps
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
As far as moving apps to the next screen....
Move the wiggling app slowly to the side of the screen and just hold the icon over on the edge for a second or two - don't try to force that icon over - just hold the icon about halfway over to the next screen - and then the app should jump to the next screen.
