Actually the keyboard disappears and there is no way to recover it.

So I've been using wmii since I have been having this trouble and waiting for over a week to get "approved" for the gnome forum, and suddenly my wmii did the same thing. System locks up completely. Can't use ctrl alt del, ctrl alt bksp, ctrl alt f, just a hard reset to get out of it. Something else I noticed last night when I was about to try Idea - I'm a java developer - and I tried to set JDK_HOME to env. My system locked up just like this problem.
Did a full system upgrade last night and no new results today. I don't have much hair left to pull out, anyone able to help me conserve the little bit I have left? Thanks!

I'm using an extended wired keyboard on an iMac i7 running OS X 10.6.8. When attempting to use the numeric key pad (typically while running Excel Mac 2008) the keyboard freezes. Mouse control is still available via USB connection to the keyboard. The only viable recovery is a system reset. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

If it does turn out to be an undesired Universal Access function that's interfereing, and you don't need any of them, you can also disable the keyboard commands that can accidentally activate those functions.
To do that, go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts; in the pane on the left select Universal Access; then in the list on the right uncheck all of the items shown.

Is there a way to use voice recognition to fill in blanks on an existing (self-prepared) form? Can I prepare the blanks on the form in a way (e.g., tabs) that lets me use voice commands to move the cursor from blank to blank? Imagine a simple list of questions. I would like to find a way to use voice commands to move the cursor to the end of the next question once I finish dictating the answer to the previous question.

Hey JoeiPod14, The battery meter whether you use the icon (which is better and uses less power) or the percentage, shows you the battery life remaining based on current power use. In others words as Illaass has stated it will fluctuate wildly. Example: You turn on your iPod it shows 90%, start gaming, let's say it's an online, high end graphics game. Your percent drops quickly to 65%, then you stop the game and start listening to listen to music on your iPod and the percent goes back up to 80%. In each case, the battery meter is showing you how much battery you life you have based on what you were doing at the time. Bottom line the harder the iPod has to work, the less time you will have to work / use it before the next charge. (I know-- duh!) Think of your battery meter as a gas tank gauge, it does not tell you when or where you will run out if gas or this case power only that it is close, if near empty. Oh, your question why it drops, even when I the charger, I assuming your iPod / iPhone was a sleep, powered down-- not working the CPU very hard, when you wake the device up there is power draw, so you see the fluctuations you have described, once the power surge stabilizes you get the current percent. you can share both your entire screen, or just a specific window of program in your computer. it is not possible to give someone a remote access to your computer through skype, and it is also not possible to share your mouse and keyboard.

My iPad 2 keeps crashing when using iPhoto. Have cleared my 'open' apps, reset and restored the iPad, reinstalled iPhoto. But same result when editing pictures imported from SD card. Seems like iPhoto is built for the quad core GPU of the new iPad? Pretty a waste of my $5 until I get it to stop crashing. I'm on OS5.1. Thanks!

It works on the ipad 2. I heard of an issue where if you have too many photos in your library may cause app
to crash. Try to uncheck but a few of your albums in your library in itunes. Sync. See what happens.

N95 will crash when using voice tags with HS-4W

From the top of my head, install Thinkpad Communications Utility
and within it is an option called "Optimize my microphone for". Try
switching it to "Normal use" instead "Only my voice". Also, in Windows
Control Panel there should be an icon for "Realtek HD Sound Effect
Manager". Fire it up and goto "Microphone" and try switching between
the two options. Maybe that'll help too, but am not sure.

I assume you're using the "Content Aware" option for the Spot Healing brush. It can be a maddeningly stupid option -- there's no telling from how far away it will pull the replacement pixels and will leave streaks that can be very difficult to remove.
It would be best for you to include a sample image that's giving you the problem so we can suggest the best way to attack it.
In general, the "Content Aware" option works best when you use a very small brush size. That pulls in pixels closer to the area you want to heal. If you get streaks, sometimes you can use the Spot Healing brush to get rid of them by going over the area in a perpendicular direction to the streaks.

Does anyone know how to make the voice recognition enter new lines or paragraphs?
When I first got my phone I could simply say "enter", "new line" or "new paragraph" rather quickly and it would advance to the next line, or in the case of paragraph it would be two new lines giving a space between the paragraph.
However, in the last month or so this has stopped working. Now, when I say "enter", "new line" or "new paragraph" it will either spell out the words, or it will add a space.
It's really frustrating, making the feature almost useless because I have to keep popping out to the keyboard to hit the return key.
I'm using the voice recognition software to enter text for the applications "S.Memo" or "Google Drive Documents", on a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone with the 4.1.2 Android Version.

You cannot unintall "S.Memo", as it appears to be part of Samsung's base OS. I can do a force stop and disable on it as well as clear the data, but I cannot uninstall it. That is simply not an option for the app. I'm not going to clear the data because that deletes all the files I've made for it.
I did a force stop on "S.Memo" and then started the app, and the problem persists.
I power cycled the phone and the problem persists.
I did uninstall and reinstall "Google Drive Document" but that did not resolve the problem either.
Also it seems silly to remove and reinstall these apps, when it's the voice recognition software that is having the problem. This problem happens if you simply use voice input. It even happens when editing the phone's contact's information.

Why does the screen unlock when using voice dialer on iphone 5S?

Here's the scenario I'm referring to: my iphone is in my pocket with the screen locked and headphones plugged in. I toggle the mic switch and use voice control to place a phone call. On every other iphone I have owned, the screen stays locked. On the 5S, the screen unlocks when the call begins, making the end call button or other phone buttons able to be activated accidentally by my leg.
Why did they change this feature on the 5S? The iphone 5 stays locked in the same scenario. Just updated to 7.0.4 and it still hasn't been fixed. Is there a way to fix this issue?

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

Machine freezez/lock ups when using password protected certificates in IE 11 Windows 8.1 Pro

When using certificates that have a password enabled and private keys we find the machine hangs up competly with the memory usage jumping to 99%. The main process being the Local Secuirty Authority Process that causes the machine to lock up. The work
around we have is to remove this certificate and import a new certificate making sure we un-tick the check box for private key password.

IPads not being recognized when using apple configurator software

I have an iPad cart with 25 iPad's. I am using a MacBook Air and the apple configurator software to try to manage the iPad's. The problem is, only 21 of the 25 iPads will show up in the apple configurator "prepare" section. All of the iPads are not being recognized. When I use a MacBook Pro all 25 iPad's will show. So the problem seems to be with the MacBook Air and/or Apple Configurator. Any suggestions? We have 30 carts total with some having up to 30 iPads so I am trying to find a fix for this.

This seems to be an issue related to the new 2013 MacBook Air models. I've seen it pop up a few times now, and the common factor is always a 2013 MacBook Air.
A "solution" doesn't seem to exist yet. The workaround at this point would be to either use any older Mac to do the syncing, or only connect and sync half of the devices at a time.

Processor locks up when using Firefox, help!

I am still new to the Mac world and need some help.
I have a 2009 Macbook, with Mac OS X, 10.6.8, Processor is 2.26 and memory is 4gb.
I've noticed lately that when using Firefox I seem to have lock up issues and I can't click anything. The rainbow processor thing just keeps running and running. Often times I cannot even click the Apple icon in the tool bar in order to get to force quit. (I don't know what buttons to push for force quit)
The only way to solve the problem is to hard boot the computer and I know that is not a good thing to do. What is going on with the processor as to why it gives me hang ups when using Firefox? I have about 5-6 windows open and each has about 7-8 tabs open.
Should I upgrade to Mountain Lion? Will that help? Again, any advice or assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated, keep in mind I am not a techie kind of person, so simple terms will be best.

Ever since I downloaded v12, my computer has been locking up at least twice a DAY. I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything, including Firefox itself, as well as Adobe, and all the plug-ins associated with the application. I've run Spybot, C-Cleaner, and my anti-virus to confirm that there's nothing else wrong with the computer outside Firefox. If the computer is rebooted and Firefox is not opened, the system is fine. But once Firefox has been opened - even if it survives the session and I close Firefox - the computer is about 75% likely to lock up, requiring a hard reboot. I'm running Vista Home edition (32 bit). If anyone has a clue what might help stop this - because I'm quite sure that it's not healthy for my computer to be hard rebooted twice (or more) a day - I'd love to hear it! It's getting waaaay more than annoying, enough so that I'm ready to move to another browser to stop the problem.
