IPad keynote file size

what is the average file sizes for a one page, pages doc with no pics? a keynote 10 slides a pic on every slide and a small numbers spread sheet i want to use a ipad for school and want to know if ill need a 16 or 32 gb thanks for answers.

Folks
I've found a workaround.
Not the perfect solution.
But it turns out that if you use a WHITE or BLACK keynote presentation templates the memory issue fades away
There is a bug on the CHALKBOARD and CERULEAN templates I was using.
steps to reproduce
use the same photo
create several one page presentations
email them to yourself
watch how the file size changes according to the presentation you choose
for now I'll use WHITE
WHITE = 256 kb
BLACK = 298 kb
GRADIENT = 412 kb
PHOTO PORTFOLIO = 412 kb
RENAISSANCE = 549 kb
SHOWROOM = 490 kb
MODERN PORTFOLIO = 302 kb
HARMONY = 482 kb
PARCHMENT = 530 kb
CRAFT = 441 kb
CERULEAN = 1.7 Mb
CHALKBOARD = 6.2 Mb
There has to be a bug on the CERULEAN AND CHALKBOARD templates,

  • Is There a Recommended Maximum Keynote File Size?

    I am prepping my first Keynote presentation and I'm only 20% into it and already have a Keynote file size of 1 gig spread across 28 slides. I'm being careful to make sure that no individual slide gets too big (some using video), but I'm worried that I'm going to end up with something so large it'll give me problems! I know I can scale down file size but I don't think I'll gain that much. My presentation is just two days away!!!!
    btw - I'm building on an iMac 3.06 with 4 GB Ram but will be presenting on an iBook Pro 2.66 with 4 GB
    Ram. Both with core2 Duo.
    thanks!

    Hi kwieder: Late reply, but you should've been fine. Did the presentation go ok? You could've done a test run on the MBP 2.66 before the presentation. File size shouldn't really impact the presentation, unless you're using much older computer hardware. File size is just cumbersome when you're presenting for a conference or a company and they ask to check your presentation beforehand or request a copy etc.

  • Keynote on iPad states file size is 0B when i try to open from Dropbox?

    When i try to open a Keynote file from dropbox (its about 80mb) the file size on my iPad states 0M?  Can anyone help with ideas?

    You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
    Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
    Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
    You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
    Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
    Pages 5/5.01 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
    Pages 5.1 sometimes can not open its own files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
    Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
    Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
    Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
    All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
    Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
    Apple has not only managed to confuse all its users, but also itself.
    Note: Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

    Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

  • Keynote file size limitation

    I just upgraded to iOS4 and Keynote 1.3 for the iPad. When I try to copy a presentation over using iDisk I get the message
    This file is too large
    This file can not be viewed on your iPad because it is over 30MB.
    I have image files that are bigger than that, let alone movies. Where does this limitation come from?
    Joseph

    We have been having the same problem. We are trying to import a Keynote presentation (file size 336.9 MB) that contains both pictures, text and movies (movies have been converted to iPhone and AppleTV versions m4v). We have tried the iTunes file sharing, iDisk and Dropbox. Each time we try to import the presentation onto the iPad the screen goes black and it closes the app.
    Any help would be great, we need to begin giving this presentation on Friday. HELP!!!

  • Very large Keynote file size

    One of my Keynote files has grown to 704 MB and now takes forever to save. How can I reduce the size of this file? I suspect some photos in the file are larger in MB size then they need to be.
    Thanks

    You'd need to try exporting your images from iPhoto as smaller images before using them in Keynote. I'm not sure if there's a simple way to compress the images that are already in Keynote.

  • Keynote file size vs. PowerPoint

    I just created a KN presentation that was 5.9GB. When I convert it to PowerPoint, the same presentation is only 500  MB. What could account for that difference? How can I make the KN presentation a more manageable size?

    I should have been clearer.  No video at all, but a number of photos, nearly 300 of them, plus a few bullet-point slides.  Some of the "photos" are images downloaded from the web and imported into iPhoto, but most are ones I took.  I did not do anything to alter the resolution of the photos when importing them from iPhoto into Keynote, nor when converting from Keynote to PowerPoint.  The photos appear on the computer screen to be equally clear in Keynote or PowerPoint.  I don't understand how PowerPoint can do the same job so much more efficiently, or why converting to PowerPoint reduces the file size so much.  I like Keynote, but I would like to know how to make the file smaller to be able to share it on a thumb drive, etc.  Otherwise I'll just go back to using PowerPoint.

  • Is there a way to "compress" or reduce keynote file size?

    I have transferred some PowerPoint presentations to Keynote and in general have had no difficulty. However, I can "compress" the pictures in PowerPoint which makes the file size much smaller.
    Is there any way to reduce the file size of a Keynote presentation?
    Thanks,

    hi I am trying to do a project of putting a keynote saved as a quicktime into garageband and adding audio and then compressing it via Share ...sent to itunes etc. It does get smaller.
    But Are there any experts out there on putting a keynote with narration into garageband. I loose all of the timing control when I send it to quicktime. It seems like a LOT of steps.
    Also, putting a narration into keynote is so long. Power Point just lets you record the narration on each slide. So I was putting it into garageband and trying to add the narration podcast style. Any suggestions.

  • Reducing Keynote File Size

    Does reducing the size of a Keynote file degrade the visual quality of the presentation?

    Perhaps the file is just large, and you've done everything possible?
    One other thing you might want to try is to do a "Save As" with another version number. I just did that to a file that was 27.2 MB and it shrank to 25.4 MB. Not much, I know.
    I don't know how KN works internally, but a program like Adobe's InDesign stores all the changes you make to a file at the end of that file (if I understand correctly), and when you do a Save As, it rebuilds the file and gets rid of all the old info.
    Just curious, how big is your file, what's in it (lots of images?) and how small were you hoping to get it?

  • Keynote file size - excluding files - how?

    Hello,
    I´m working on a presentation with lots of movie material in it. And my Keynote file is growing and growing.
    The thing I want to know is: I can´t save the file in the "save as"-dialogue and uncheck the checkbox "include movies and audio" .... WHY?
    ... has anyone a clue
    Andreas

    probably because Keynote won't know where the files are, or it would need to move them OUT of the preso and into some kind of folder, which it won't do for you. You could try dragging slides to a new preso, not you're still going to have problems since all your media is now INSIDE the original file. You might have to delete them one by one, drag them to a new file that has been saved without the include tag, and drop a movie from outside Keynote back onto the new slide. That's how I'd do it.

  • Keynote vs Powerpoint file size

    I received a .pps presentation which weighed in at 84k. I opened it in Keynote & saved it as such. The keynote file size is 264k. Could this be due to Keynote's antialiasing? 84 vs 264k is no big deal but I've also noticed this with multi-megabyte presentations.
    BTW I'm posting this in the Keynote 8 dicussion & I'm running 3.02. If I've posted in the wrong area, my apologies.

    Thanks Kyn, The pps which came in opened with Keynote. (This is normally the case with pps unless I open Power Point first, or request it with the Ctrl key)
    The picture quality was clear but not sharp in resolution. ok for its purpose, flowers and countryside, and measuring approx 18cm by 14cm. (no music although it requested sound switched ON)
    Since my first note, I remembered that I had taken my pictures straight from iPhoto, so they were in original format of around 1.4 to 2.2mb each which accounts for the size (and excellent resolution) so I tried making a medium quality selecton within iphoto to Mail.
    This worked ok and I found when I dragged he pictures from Mail into Keynote I could 'adjust' the picture quality , however, next problem was the frame of Keynote was much larger than the slide which was now approx 13 x 9cms, which was acceptable for my purpose.
    Haven't found out yet how to fit the keynote window to the picture. The Inspector not very helpful.
    Am sure there must be a neater way of doing this than via iPhoto, and there must be a simple click somewhere to match picture with frame
    Open to further advice

  • File sizes vary when importing from iPhoto to different iPads.  Why?

    I'm running Mavericks with iphoto 9.5.1 and using iTunes 11.1.3.  I have a iphoto library of 6830 pictures.  We upload these pictures to mulitiple ipads.  This xmas I got a couple new ipads to replace old ones and upon syncing the photos to the new ipads the file size is much larger than on the older ipads.
    For instance.  My photos that sync'd over to my iPad 2 was around 9 GB.  Now on my ipad air it takes up 22.72.
    I have a similar experience with my wifes new iPad Mini.
    Any ideas or suggestions on what is going on?

    Rather supports the guess. The smaller screen means smaller images are synced. When you sync with a device the images are optimised for that device. Those optimised versions are stored in the iPod Photo Cache.

  • How do I find the file size of my presentation in keynote for iPad?

    I know this is a simple question, and I have a work around by just emailing the file to me, but I want to know how I can see the file size as I work on the file within keynote.....on the iPad.
    Thanks

    Select the album, Select all photos in the album, then click on the info button.   Number of photos and total size are on  top of info pane.

  • How can i find out the file size of a Keynote on an iPad please?

    How can i find out the file size of a Keynote on an iPad please?

    I think a rule of thumb is what you're looking for.
    Full bandwidth CD audio (AIFF): about 10 MB/min
    Apple Lossless: about 5 MB/min
    MP3 @ 256k: about 2 MB/min
    MP3 @ 128k: about 1 MB/min
    Of course the MP3 file size is exactly linear with bit rate.
    As for sound quality:
    Apple Lossless is, as the name says, lossless.
    MP3 @128k: fine for listening in the car or the kitchen etc. If you have an audiophile sound system, this will remind you why you spent all that money.
    MP3 @256K: barely distinguishable from CD on very good equipment.
    MP3 @320K: probably not distinguishable from CD.
    I presume that since you're talking about importing classical CDs these are ones you own. Remember you can always do it again if you need higher fidelity or if better technology comes out. I import most CDs at 128k, since most of my MP3 listening is in the car, or walking, or as background. And I can always play the CD if I want to sit and listen.
    The logic for purchased music is totally different -- you probably won't get to upgrade that without buying it some different way. So buying 128k MP3s (or AACs) is something you'll probably regret later. Buying 256k MP3s is a lot less problematic.

  • Keynote for iOS file size: inserting photos from Mac first or from iPad?

    Hi!
    This one is for people with advanced and extensive knowledge of Keynote for Mac and for iOS:
    Does inserting pictures in Keynote for iOS from the Photos app result in a leaner file size than importing the Keynote file with pictures already inserted from the Keynote for Mac app?

    Hey Timmy,
    I use Dropbox to get my photos to/from my iPad to my computer wirelessly (no iTunes). The process below is one I posted a few weeks ago for the opposite process than what you're wanting to do (from iPad to computer) but Dropbox will work both ways. Just set up a Dropbox folder on your computer and set up the Dropbox app on your iPad and they will both be in sync automatically.
    Hope this helps!
    ~Joe
    ---from a post I did a few weeks ago---
    The Dropbox app has a very cool auto-upload process that will automatically upload photos from the iPad Camera Roll to Dropbox.
    First sign up for a free Dropbox account from your computer.
    Then, download the free Dropbox app on your iPad.
    Log in to the Dropbox app on the iPad with your new account and click on the Photos icon in the lower left corner of the screen (second one from the left).
    Select "Enable Camera Upload" and "Only Wi-Fi." The upload process will begin for all existing photos in the Camera Roll.
    From now on, all future photos taken by the iPad will automatically upload to the Dropbox folder. You can then download your photos from Dropbox to your computer by going to http://www.dropbox.com, logging in to your account, and downloading the photos. You can then put the photos on a USB drive or burn to a CD or upload them to a photo processing website.
    Hope this helps!
    ~Joe

  • How do I move a keynote file from my computer to my ipad?

    I have a Mac OS X version 10.6.8 and an Ipad version 7.0.6. How can I move a Keynote file from my Mac to my Ipad? I do not have Icloud on my Mac.

    Have you tried e-mailing the Keynote file to yourself? You can then press and hold on the attachment in Mail and choose to open in Keynote. However the results may depend on your version of Keynote.
