IPad locked up after trying to update, what do I do?

I've been geting that notice about updating my iPad,the iSO 4 thing or something. The latest as of 29.05.2011.So I finally decided to give it a chance and selected the "Download and Install" option.Towards the end of the process I got a notice from the taskbar, giving me a "New Hardware Found" message,so I just ignored it for a while ,cause usually when I connect the iPad  it doesn't appear, but after a few moments I got an error from iTunes saying that the process could not be compleed and then the iPad just blocked. It won't respond in ANY possible way.It just shows the iTunes logo and the end of the USB cable and an arrow pointing towards the iTunes logo, but even if I try to connect it to the computer, the computer won't recognize it anymore. It's like, completly unresponsive.
I also tried pushing both the Home and Power button at the same time, but it just shuts off for a few seconds and then displays the same image.
HELP ,PLEASE?

Temporarily disable or turn off your computer's security software (firewall, anti-virus, etc). Try the download/upgrade again, and remember to re-activate security software.

  • HT201210 my Ipad will not restore after trying to update what do I do?

I tried to update my Ipad to 6.0 .  NOw I am getting an alert that was unable to restore!!!  What do I do?  All I was trying to do was add some music to my IPAD!!

Did you get an error #? What iOS version are you currently running?
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • My iPad is dead after trying to Update

I have about a 5yr old iPad. I plugged it into my MacBook Air to charge it, got a request to update iOS to 8.2. Then got error message 3014 saying it can't be updated nor restored. Now it won't launch.
Went to Support based on the error message 3014, got help page on going into the Terminal mode and checking Host files. I'm supposed to make a minor edit to the line containing: “gs.apple.com”.  That line is completely missing, probably the crux of the problem. My question is what is the number sequence that precedes this entry on that line? Can I use the number sequence in the example? Or is it something else? Can't get into the iPad, is it stored somewhere else on my laptop? When I go into iTunes on the laptop, the iPad doesn't even show up as a connected device tho' it's physically connected.  Ideas?

    Hello ,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that you're getting an iTunes update error of 3014 when trying to update your iPad.  If the gs.apple.com line does not exist in your hosts file, then you should continue to the next step of the article, to check your TCP/IP filtering and security software running on the computer.  You should be able to update to iOS 8.2 OTA (Over the Air) however.  To update Over the Air, connect your iPad to a Wi-Fi network and follow the directions below.
Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build" - Apple Support
    Update your device wirelessly
The easiest way to update your device is wirelessly, also called “over the air.” Here’s how:
Plug in your device to a power source.
Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Tap Download and Install. Updates might download automatically while your device is connected to Wi-Fi and a power source.
Tap Install, or tap Later to install the update later. If you use a passcode, you'll need to enter it before installing the update.

  • HT201413 ipad is stuck after trying an update

My ipad is frozen with a picture on the screen indicating it wants to connect ot itunes.  This happened after I was trying to do an update.

I have done that.  After going through all the steps of trying to recover the ipad, I get a message of -1.  this correlates to some type of hardware issue and suggests taking it to an Apple store.  The tech at the Apple store says it can't be fixed and I should purchase a new one.  REALLY?? All this because I was doing a suggested update that went bad and now I need a new ipad?  Do I now want to do an update to my iphone?

  • IPad locked out after iOS 7 update

I updated My iPad 3rd gen to iOS 7 last day and i was asked for apple id and password which i forgot at the time.
    The text above it showed

And then the apple id login window.
As i forgot the password i tried apple id help in apples site but then i forgot the apple id itself. -____-
Then i tried restoring the ipad in dfu mode and recovery mode
But still ended up in the activation screen .
At last i remembered my id changed its password and tried it on the ipad and then the ipad be like this apple id cannot be used to activate this ipad . :O

my iPad has been stuck on the apple loge for almost 10 hrs after trying to update, how can this be fixed?

You may have to restore your iPad using Recovery mode, but try a reset first. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Let go of the buttons when you see the logo. This takes about 10-15 seconds.
IF the update will not complete or you see the connect to iTunes message on the screen, you have to restore your iPad.
If you can't update or restore your iOS device

  • HT1212 My ipad was disabled after trying to unlock. I forgot my password, can you help me please

My ipad was disabled after trying to unlock, I forgot my password please help!!

iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212 - entering wrong codes results in progressively longer lockout times until device must be restored completely.
Options for when an iOS device gets locked because of forgotten passcode:
Restore (and reset passcode) on your device by connecting it to the last computer to which it was connected:
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you cannot connect it to the computer to which the device was last connected (or the device was never connected to a computer) you will have to use recovery mode to completely reset the device, losing all data:
iOS: Unable to update or restore - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 - recovery mode (e.g., cannot connect to computer last used to sync device, iTunes still asks for a password)

  • After trying to update all in app store the icons are just staying on waiting position and noting happens

After trying to update all in app store the icons are just staying on waiting position and noting happens

I have posted this quite a few times and some of these suggestions have worked for others in the past. See if anything works for you.
    1. Tap the "waiting" icon and see if you can pause it. If it does pause, then tap it again and see if it will resume. If that works, repeat the same steps for each "waiting" icon.
    2. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    3. Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
    4. If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
    5. You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again. You can also dete apps in Settings>General>Usage>Storage.
    6. You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
    7. If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

  • Iphone is stuck in recovery mode and cannot restore after trying to update to iOS6 - not jailbroken

I have an iphone4s, and the question basically says it all - after trying to update to ios6, the udgrade downloaded to my computer and started loading onto my phone. However it sudeenly just stopped an turned into the balck screen asking to plug into itunes. When I do this, it says I have to restore the phone, but when I try to restore, it says there is an error (3014).
    I have tried:
    - pressing the home and top buttons unti the apple appears
    - Checked all security software and the ports aren't blocked
    - Have tried pressing option+restore to choose ios6 and ios5.1.1 - neither has worked
    - Its been like this for about a day and a half now, and I have probably tried to restore it at least 50 times to no avail, always with the same error code.
    What can I do??
Is this something to do with how busy the appl servers are? And when should I expect to be able to use my phone again?

Yeah same exact problem as me.  EXACTLY.  In a way I'm glad more than just me are having the problem so I know it's probably not on my end and on the apple side....I HOPE that is what it is.
MAN, a whole day and a half????  Crap I need my phone to work....
I really think it's the apple servers because it errors 3014 right when iTunes says "verifying phone....." something....  It goes away so fast I can't read the rest, but I think that is the step where it verifies phone to the apple servers, which are overloaded, I assume.
It's gotta be that.  How many other people are having this same exact issue?
