unfortunately I forgot that account password.. what should I do to unlock the ipad without using the old account??

You cannot lock specific applications or folders, but you can set a passcode on your iPad:

How did they wipe it? By using Find My iPad and performing a wipe? If so, that means they have your icloud ID and password, not a good thing.
You could try connecting it to iTunes and performing a restore from iCloud. But if they changed password, then you are out of the loop. How did they get your password in order to change it?

I'm not sure which option you set. Requiring the password after 5 seconds in System Preferences > Security only kicks in after the sleep or screen saver. The smallest option for sleep or screen saver is 1 minute.

My iPad was locked because I forgot my password; I followed the step by step instructions to recover my iPad but it still asks me for a password to access the device even though the device should have been erased. Please help!?!

Is this how you do it?
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTunes and plug (very important)
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...

With iOS 6 and earlier it can be reset back to factory defaults via a computer's iTunes, they don't need to enter your passcode.
If you had Find My iPad enabled on it then you could try locating it either via http://icloud.com on a computer or Find My iPhone on another device - but that will only work if it's connected to a network and the device hasn't already been wiped and/or Find My iPad disabled on it.
I assume that you've reported it to the police ? You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.by connecting it to a computer's iTunes

I'm a teacher, and I've built a fairly substantial, personalized gradebook/student data spreadsheet in Numbers 3.0 for iCloud on my personal ca. 2011 MBP. Every evening when I'm home from school, I transcribe into it my daily handwritten notes on student progress, missing homeworks, test scores, etc. It can be pretty laborious. What I'd like to do, in the interest of efficiency, is load my gradebook/spreadsheet onto a school-provided iPad, and then use it to walk around the classroom and check off homework/attendance/whatnot on the fly. The issue: all of the iPads at school are all registered to district iCloud accounts, and locked down and inaccessible to teachers. I can't save to them, and I can't access them w/o reams of red tape and administration. So what i want to know is: is there a way I can load the spreadsheet onto a school-provided iPad for on-the-go recording purposes, even if temporarily?
To clarify: I do not have access to iCloud settings on the school's iPads, and I am issued a different iPad nearly every time I wish to use one. The iPad user accounts do not "belong" to me – they are accounts shared with other teachers, etc., and I would prefer if my gradebook was not accessible to anybody who shared the equipment. I want to look at a Numbers 3.0 documents on a private iCloud account unassociated with school. What to do?

Thanks! I've turned iCloud and Photostream on and the new photos are coming through. I emailed my older photos to myself (there weren't that many) to then download to the iPad.
For future reference, do you know how to import older images into Photostream?

IPad asking for Password for iCloud- FRUSTRATED

I got an iPad mini as a graduation present and I have had absolutely no problems...yet.
I just moved for my job and was settling in to sync up the iPad with the new Wi-Fi password and as soon as I unlock the screen it is prompting me for my password for FaceTime. I am entering the proper password, but the screen continues to pop up.
I have been going through this discussions and trying all the different troubleshooting advice posted by others but none of them are working. I tried to restore to factory settings but the message continues to pop up, I don't have the ability to do anything else on the device. I'm getting so frustrated and I'm about ready to throw the **** thing at the wall.
I already restored it to my iTunes in hopes to restore it, but it says I need to turn off the "Find my iPad" option of iCloud, but I can't even do that because of the pop up!
PLEASE SOS ANYTHING TO HELP ME!

Ive tried a reset by holding down the power button and home button together but its still asking for a password when i turn it back on, there is NO option to override it asking for the pssword as mentioned on some other threads on here...ive tried pressing cancel but that doesnt make any difference.

If the iPad has Activation Lock - that is, it's asking for the previous owner's Apple ID and password to activate the device - then you will need that information, or you'll need to get the previous owner to remove the device from his/her iCloud account:

If you can't reach the previous owner or he/she is unwilling to cooperate, then the device is unusable by you. Return the iPad for a refund if you can.

hey up i've just bought a reconditioned ipad 4th gen and i;ve got the same problem as well !! and mine was sold to me by a company called pay as you view... i've been told on here tonight that there's no way of getting it working untill you manage to get hold of last owner! so its down to the company to sort out..what a waste of money eh !
