Apple implemented an anti-theft feature called Activation Lock earlier this year. It is described here:

The former owner's Apple ID and password are required to use the iPad. Without that, the iPad will be locked forever.

Sorry, you can't do that unless they are on your LAN. I don't know of any apps that will let you do it.

Yeah no kidding.
I have a big paid up MobileMe account with tons of gallery stuff - this will all go away for me in July, and I'll miss it - it took no learning to use, and it was built into everything - just intuitive to post to a gallery password protect it, and send a link to a friend. Click click done!
It bothers me a lot when features I really enjoy and use are pulled in these half baked new apps and services.
iMovie used to be quite good, but the new one is very restrictive - it's a step backwards in some ways.
MobileMe was fine, but iCloud takes away the Gallery???? - another step backward.
We use some iPhones at work for shooting some videos and technical engineering photo's, and while it's pretty cool that the iPhone photo's get put on the photostream of "Jason's iMac", I don't have instant access, and I would really like to be able to do that. If it could be done, then I can stay at home and work sometimes and I can get the photo's automagically.
Apple - please fix this.

Help - I left safari open on a public computer and now my favorites sync with someone else's

I left my safari browser open on a computer that lots of people in our office use - now my iPhone and iPad favorites in Safari sync with someone else's favorites. Too many people use that PC to figure out who it is, so I just need to separate my real account so that only my iPhone and iPad have access to my information. I did clear my browser history and cookies in case they are syncing with this other person's account, but I think it's just the favorites that are getting changed up. Help!

Change your iCloud password as explained here: iCloud: Change your iCloud password. That will prevent any other devices or computers being able to access your iCloud data without the new password.

If you didn’t erase the drive and install using you AppleID, then the OS and the purchased apps are still registered to the other AppleID. You cannot change that by logging into iCloud. Apps are forever tied to the AppleID used to purchase/download them.
You have to erase the drive and download/install the Apps using your AppleID.

Not with icloud. You can email it to them or use some other sharing service like Dropbox.

Well, if you no longer sync contacts with iCloud, that means that anyone else using your Apple ID for iCloud will no longer have access to your contacts.

Icloud content mixed up with someone else

I'm using icloud from the very begining. I never faced any problem with this service till now. Today, I've found someone else's contacts and pictures in my contact list and photo stream. It can be easily assumed that some other person also has my contents. So, I'm concern about my privecy. I want to know is there any option for me to resolve this mixed up issue?

Contact iCloud support: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/. If you are outside your free 90 day support window and haven't purchased AppleCare there would normally be a charge for the call. However, you may be able to argue that you shouldn't be charged in this case as there has been an apparent breach of security on your account. They would be the only ones who could resolve this.

I have created a .m4v file from iPhoto and would like to share it with someone else knowing that the file is quiet large (86 Mo), i used to share file with mobileme, how Can I do that with iCloud ? or another way....

In iphoto, I have create a diaporama which I exported to itunes as a m4v file. I would like to share this file with someone but it is too big to send it via email (84 Mo). This file is now in my films in itunes. Is there a way to share it via icloud.

How recently did you switch? If it's less than 60 days, then Verizon simply reinstates your previous account. The fact that you were on the EDGE plan and mailed the devices back, and they apparently are somewhere in the system, could cause complications, and it might just work out that you just go back on the same plan and they set you up with the same devices. I'm not sure how it will go - but since you are still being billed for the devices...

Without upgrading to Lion/icloud, how can I continue to share my calendars with someone else?

I share all of my calendars right now with someone (using mobileme) and we are not planning to update to Lion just yet. Once mobileme ends, how can we continue to share our calendars? Thank you.

How are you sharing your calendars. If you are doing this by sharing accounts, you won't be able to once your mobile me account expires. If you are using the calendar sharing feature, there is no reason you shouldn't continue to do so.
You will need to move your calendars to your "on my mac" account before Mobile Me expires.

You are logging out from
Settings -> FaceTime, right?
My guess would be though, that the FaceTime history is stored locally on the device, so anyone using it will see the entire device history (I cannot imagine that FaceTime uploads the history to an Apple server anywhere - I'm sure it is just logged locally on the device - based on my iPhone and iPad show completely different histories, for example).

Anyone had this happen to them? 3G locked by someone else

i tried to setup the 3g on my ipad2 and got a message to call customer service becuase my ipad was locked by a subscriber.
i called and got very little help so i went into my local verizon store where they verified that my MEID was correct but the IPad2 was most definately locked so icould not use it, The person helping me at the store called someone they found out who the ipad is registered to a CEO of some company who is ut of town, so they cant verify what his MEID number is. I feel i'm getting nowhere.
I dont understand how this happened, anyone else have an experience like this? how do i resolve it?

This has happened to me as well. At the same exact time as it happened to you. I noticed today that my 3G service didn't work and I called support, who informed me that my "number" was deactivated, and my MEID on my iPad is now assinged to a contract account under a different name.
Support was unable to provide any assistance, saying they had to elevate the complaint or something. I am on a prepaid plan and was billed for my next on Oct 12th, so I'm basically paying for a service I can't access, and the Verizon person on the phone said there was no way to cancel my billing.
I couldn't get a straight answer, and am very frustrated. I've also used the online customer support e-mail, but have not heard a response. I am in Connecticut, I don't know if this a regional issue or not. It's interesting that this has happened to someone else right at the same time.

Used iPad, registered to someone else

I bought an iPad2 from Gazelle but it is registered to someone else. When I asked about this they just offered to return (but not exchange the unit).
I know you can't "find" it if it is lost or stolen, but if you want a used ipad you can register yourself do you have to buy it from an individual rather than a place like Gazelle. It is a great ipad, there just doesn't seem to be a place to call and ask.

Gazelle warns sellers to erase the device and remove the activation lock. Somehow, unfortunately, the one you bought got through inspection. I would guess that is rare.
