Password and password reset do not work on iPad.  Can reset at website but not from Reader App

    My son let one of his friends use his ipad. The next time he tired to use it he could not get it unlocked, I tired to unlock it but it kept telling me that I had the wrong pass code. With out me knowing my son continued to tire until it completely disabled it self.

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

  • I changed my appleID, it worked fine but now I can not restore icloud backup in a new ipad (old appleid does not work and it is grey colored so I'm unable to change it)

    Some months ago I changed my email address and so my appleID. Everything worked fine, but last week my ipad broke and when I tried to restore my icloud backup in my new ipad it does not work: it asks me for the password of the OLD appleID (it doesnt work); and in icloud configuration page the field for appleid is colored grey so I can not change it.

    My suggestion is to change apple id back. I know it is not something you want to hear, but there are suppose to be ways around it and usually they work, but not right now. I suspect that is consequences of Apple getting their servers ready for ios7. Normally in your situation - you should be able to get all your stuff back, but apps, and then you can sync those or download from icloud. But lately (last week) it does not seem to work normal way.

  • IPad with Verizon does not work in Alaska.

    If you live in Alaska and considering an iPad with Verizon don't do it.  It does not work anywhere in Alaska.  I recently purchased an iPad while travelling in the lower 48.  The Apple sales people displayed the Verizon coverage map which displays wireless coverage for the populated parts of Alaska but what they missed is that you have to change the map to the Verizon Pre-Paid coverage and look for purple colored areas.  There are none for Alaska.  The map defaults to Extended 3G coverage in Alaska but that does not apply to the iPad.
    I was on the phone with one of their Pre-Paid support people and they confirmed no coverage for Alaska.  By the way, the Pre-Paid phone support is at 888-294-6830 but that number is not accessible from Alaska.  From Alaska you have to first call 800-922-0204, Option 6, ask to be transferred to the Pre-Paid support number.  Verizon - Alaska is a state of the USA!!!!
    So all I can do is use the thing via my home wireless network.  I cancelled the data plan and will need to turn it back on when I again travel south.  Looks like I should have stuck with AT&T.  At this point I have to return the iPad and get one specific to AT&T.

    So I finally figured out how to access my Verizon account on their web site.  There is actually a phone number associated with the account.  My iPhone is with AT&T so the Verizon iPad is my first experience with Verizon.  I looked for the plan you mentioned but don't see it.  Can you provide more detail?  What I currently have is what Verizon calls the "Prepaid Cellular Data" plan.  That gets me 1GB of data per month and it automatially renews each month billed to my credit card.  Is that the same?  If so then the Extended 3G network does ot work here in Alaska.

    Been using my Ipad2 for 4 months. No problems.
    This morning the screen was just dark grey when starting safari.
    Youtube works - internetconnection (wifi) is ok.
    Tried restarting, but it still does not work.
    Does anyone have any suggestions what to do?

    Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
    If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

    All iPads (except the first gen which doesn't have a camera) are capable of taking videos. What version of iOS do you have on your iPad ? With iOS 7 you slide the Video / Photo / Square options up/down so that the one that you want lines up with the yellow dot to their left - is that how you are trying to select Video ?

  • Rule created to monitor a single line entries in a text.log file does not work

    Hi All,
    I have this strange issue. I created a script which generates .log file and i have configured a rule to monitor it. Whenever the .log is altered the alert does not come at all in SCOM 2012 R2.
    I want this alert to be raised when one specific line in the center is altered from LISTENING to NOT LISTENING.
    I have configured it. It triggered a alert for the first time and again it did not trigger at all.
    I created this rule and disabled it and overrided the value to true only to the MS acting as the watcher for this log file.
    The log file generates in the local drive of the MS itself.
    Changed the log watcher to a different server and also mentioned the application data source to a network location when the watcher was changed so it can pull the log accordingly.
    The log is generated in the MS itself. Tried using both local location where the log is located as well as converted the same to a network location still didn't help.
    C:\Port_checker is the directory where the .log file is located also there is no other log file present only 1.
    I also changed the parameters such as "Contains, Wildcard matches etc but nothing worked.

    Since you have a script that updates a file line from "LISTENING" to "NOT LISTENING"
    you might want to try and configure a Two State Script Unit Monitor rather then a rule. So your script just need to check say every 5 minutes the content of the log file and generate an alert when it matches "Not Listening" and clear when
    it changes to "listening".

  • New iPad - Wi Fi does not work

    My new iPad was delivered today.
    I connected it to my home wireless network. The connection seemed to work without a hitch. It says I am connected. It says that the signal strength is very strong.
    Nothing works.
    No internet, no mail.
    I updated the software. That didn't help.
    I read something about turning off auto brightness. That seems awful strange, but it didn't help anyway.
    It keeps asking me to set up a Cellular Data Account. I should not need such an account at home on my Wi-Fi, or so I would assume.
    It is a very frustrating first day with this thing. I was excited to see it when I got home, and I have had nothing but frustration with a device that serves only as a paperweight.

    I assume that the iPad you have got is the 3G & wifi version.
    Has I only have the wifi version I can't be 100 percent, but maybe part of the setup process for the 3G version is that you have to set up a cellular account. Have you tried setting up a cellular account and then seeing if you can connect via wifi? As I expect you would be doing this anyway with getting the 3G version iPad.
    If you don't want to setup a cellular account at this time, there should be an option to turn off the cellular data on the iPad.
    On looking on my iPhone 4, the option on this is in:
    Settings/general/network, I now see an option to turn cellular data on or off, I expect that you should see something similar on your iPad. Try switching it off and then see if you can connect via wifi.
    If not then go into settings, when you see the name of the wifi network that you are connected to, touch the the little blue arrow that is pointing to the right, next choose FORGET NETWORK. Now try and connect again to your wifi network, entering any network key that is required.

  • I use Verizon Fios as my ISP.  I am not able to set up verizon yahoo mail on my mini.  I had set it up previously on my apple laptop and my iPad, but it does not work on the iPad mini.  Also this morning it stopped working on the other apple devices.

    I am currently using Verizon Fios as my ISP.  I had my mail set up as verizon yahoo mail.  I was attempting to set up my iPad mini to get my mail under apple mail.  I have that working under my iMac, iPad, and apple notebook.  I have not been able to get it to sync on the iPad mini.  can you tell me the proper settings.

  • SAML v2 SP Single Log Out does not work.  Please help...

    I am working to integrate the SAML v2 SP to communicate and exchange data with the IDP. Both IDP and SP are using Sun AM 7.0 with Sun One Web Server 6.1.
    On the SP site, I implemented an Assertion consumer custom code to intercept the SAML Assertions from HTTP-POST protocol. This custom code decrypt, verify signature, and parse the SAML Attribute Assertion then redirect attributes data to application. The SSO is working fine between IDP, SP, and application. Here is the summary result I found:
    1. IDP initiated SSO - PASSED
    2. IDP initiated SLO - PASSED
    3. SP initiated SSO - PASSED
    4. SP initiated SLO - FAILED
    The item 4 failed with the debug log shows "SAML2Utils.getSSOToken: no valid SSO token". I think it failed because the custom code on the SP site might have missed some steps before redirect data to the application.
    I am stuck and do not know how to fix this problem. Any hint/help will greatly appreciate.

    Hi guys, today I got an used iPad1 which was on iOS4 Version. So, updated to iOS4 to iOS5 version, and i figured out that my iPad keyboard work won't charge. Does this charging issue happen to u guys as well?

    The iPad cameras are very low resolution, and intended mmore for Facetime and video than serious photography. The camera you use to take a photo is 0.7 Mp. Most pictures downloaded from the internet are also low resolution, scarcely better than newsprint.
    If you want to take decent photos, use a camera, or at worst an iPhone 4 or 4S.

    Those files are not the output, they are the trace providers that you need to select in the
    traceview.exe tool.

  • My iPad lock button does not work anymore

    Well I was in math and class finished so I decided to lock my iPad. I kept pressing the button but my device just wouldn't lock. Is there a problem with the inside of my iPad or can I just do some sort of trick to get it working again.
    P.S. please answer quickly as I am in school with no charger and I don't want to lose my battery.

    The function of the former "orientation lock" has been changed to a "silent" switch which silences system sounds like notifications, alerts, key presses, etc.
    The "rotation lock" function has been moved to the "Recent Apps Tray" which is accessed by double-clicking the home button and swiping to the right.
