IPad loses exchange password often.

Several of our iPads lose their exchange passwords. It will contiually promt for you to reenter the password many times.  Even if you put in the correct password, it will kepp prompting.  Very annoying and now someone overseas can't get their email which is a major problem.  In happens to me on iOS 5 and to others running previous versions.

Has anyone following this thread gotten anywhere with Apple on this?  (I know someone was going to the Apple Store to consult with a Genius, interested to know how that went).  I opened a ticket with Apple Tech Support and their suggestion was to create a Gmail account (of all things) and see if the problem occured there.  Plan on calling them back today before I take off for the Thanksgiving holiday but I doubt they have gone anywhere.  We are getting about a user a day we have to walk through the procedure (power off device, restart, reenter password if needed) and it's more of an annoyance than anything else but it would be nice to have this fixed.

  • Why does my ipad keep asking for exchange password when I go into my mail

Since yesterday when I turn on my ipad and go into check my mail it keeps coming up with a box saying the exchange password is inncorrect but it's not been changed since it was set up.

I was tinkering with it last night and found that the mac mini didn't like the frequency that the router was using to communicate. I changed from channel 6 to channel 9 and the problem went away. Perhaps an auto setting would have worked but I'm using and older Linksys router and the auto was not an option.

  • I reset my exchange password and now I am receiving an error messsage on my ipad. I can't cancel it to change it in settings

I reset my exchange password and now I am getting an error message saying the password is incorrect on my ipad. I can't cancel the message to get to settings to change it.

Try pressing the sleep and home buttons both together for about 5 seconds and reboot the device.  Once the iPad reboots you should be able to go into the mail settings for that account and update the credentials.

  • I changed my exchange password and iPad won't recognize new password. I can't get past the box telling me password is incorrect to access settings or anything else. Ideas?

Am unable to access anything on iPad because it tells me my exchange password is incorrect

I couldn't get past the dialog box in order to delete since it seemed to be stuck in some sort of loop..  I found the answer under "More like this".  Had to do a reset (hold power and home buttons for 10 seconds).  When iPad eventually came back to life, the dialog box was gone and I was able to get into Settings and reset the password.  All fixed now!

  • Forgot Exchange password for my IPad

How can you retrieve a password for your IPad? My "Exchange" password is unknown

If you have a passcode to the screen lock that you've forgotten, restore the iPad from the computer to which the iPad is synced. For information and instructions, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
If that will not work, you'll need to put the iPad into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:

  • Exchange password

I changed my exchange password today on my laptop and iphone without a problem.  However, now when I turn on my ipad, it asks for my exchange password.  I type in my new password, and it says "password incorrect" and immediately pops up the keyboard again.  I managed to get into settings by double clicking the home button to get icons across the bottom, but as soon as the settings screen comes up, it's made unavailable to me by the stupid keyboard and message asking me for my exchange password.  I can't delete the account or change it in any way.  This has rendered my ipad useless.

I'm hoping to not have to do anything as drastic as restoring from a backup, if for no other reason than I'm not near the computer that I back this thing up to right now.  Hitting cancel doesn't work.  I've hit cancel a million times, and I can't ever get a click in between screens...  the ipad just puts the next message box up way too quickly.  I can't change the settings, because I can't interact with the ipad at all because of the uber persistent dialog box requesting my password that it insists is wrong (which it isn't).  What the heck!

  • HT1567 How do I find what my exchange password is

I cannot log in to my e mail on my phone. It is asking for an exchange password, I do not remember ever creating one. Any ideas how I find it ?

i forgot my ipad log in password...what do i do?

You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.
    Instructions can be found here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
You will probably need to restore using Recovery Mode. You can read about it here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4097
    Or you can follow this.
    Recovery Mode Instructions
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
    Use iTunes to restore iPad.

  • Prompts for Exchange password every morning

We recently migrated all of our users over to Exchange 2010. After the switch, some of our iPhone users are receiving a prompt each morning to enter their Exchange password. If the user clicks "OK" or "Cancel" the message goes away and their mail works fine the rest of the day. That is, until the next morning when the prompt appears again. I don't know the exact time that this happens, but each user just says when they wake and unlock their phone, the prompt is on the screen. I've been working with MS Exchange support for a month now with no luck. It's such a hard thing to troubleshoot when it only happens once a day and I cannot force the error to happen until the next morning.
This is not happening to all of our iPhone users, just some. My iPhone has been fine from day one. MS Support can't seem to find anything different about my account (or any of the working accounts) compared to the accounts that are getting the prompts.
Has anyone seen this before? Or know how to fix? I've found a couple "fixes" online in some forums but none of them have worked for us.

I have the exact same issue on my iPhone and iPad. Our company just migrated to exchange 2007 in November. Each morning I get the promptmon both devices after unlock. I thought this was due to our company lock out from 12am - 6am for backups, but hearing you have the issue has me thinking it's a software bug.
I also am having isssues with the phone downloading messages. It just keeps saying "connecting" but takes in some cases 30-60 minutes. This is even with 5 cell bars and full n band wifi. I also am running MobileMe and gmail on the phone, but only MobileMe and exchange are set form push.
Please help if you can. Thank you.

  • IOS 5.1 Exchange Password Issue

I have searched and read serveral forums lately about this issues however I've been unable to figure out a soultion.  It seems every morning the iOS 5 will get a password prompt saying the exchange password is incorrect.  When I go to work and connect to the wireless at work my email will start to work, at the end of the day when I go home the email still works on the iPad 2, it's only the next day it won't work.  Now, I have another iPad running iOS 4.3.5 that is also configured with my Exchange account and always works at home (I never take it too work), no issues.  I have compared the settings (domain, email server, etc) and they are both correct.  The only difference that I can see is one is running iOS5 and the other is running iOS 4.
I have also tried the following:
    - disabled iCloud account
    - created the Exchange account serveral times <-  When I do this evern at home, it will always work afterwards, it's not till the next day that I get an error message the password is incorrect.
    - Reset the iPad 2, didn't setup iCloud during the setup, setup Exchange - email will work until the next day.
Does anyone have any other suggestions on what I can do for this to work correctly on iOS 5?
    James

I solved my the problem by creating another account in Exchange, then open up iCloud change the default email address to this new email address and everything started to work fine on the iPad.
Since we don't use iCloud and I can't delete the account, this was the simpliest solution.

  • Cannot get past a exchange password issue

Help! Once I log into my Ipad I cannot go past a password sign-in for my exchange email. I have reset the password at work and tried logging in with the new password but no change.

I'm having the same issue. I have to change my exchange password every 3 months at work and I have to do it on the work computer. If I could get to Settings on my iPad I could enter the new password, but I can't get past the error message; hitting cancel only works for a second. How do you get around this?

  • Bug handling Exchange password changes

My colleagues and I believe we have uncovered a bug with the way iOS 5 handles situations when a user's Exchange password has changed. The iPhone or iPad appears to hit the Exchange server repeatedly with the incorrect password. In my company's environment, this causes the Exchange account to be locked out, as we have a policy in our Active Directory locking the account after a number of bad password attempts.
We had an unrelated incident yesterday that required us to issue new passwords to a number of users. Many of them are now having trouble getting back on Windows PCs and Exchange email because they are iPhone or iPad users and this bug is locking out their accounts.

We have a simular problem, only the account is not locked out (Normaly after 3 tries the user is locked out) and users can still access their e-mail with a wrong password. Sometimes even after 4 days the iphone prompts that the password needs to be changed, but untill that time you can still send and receive e-mail.

  • My iPad loses it's ability to connect to the internet after awaking from sleep mode. Needs to be rebooted to reconnect.

My iPad loses it's ability to reconnect to the wifi after sleep mode often times, but not always. It is very annoying because it requires a reboot to reconnect. It is running the latest iOS software update. I have also reset network settings to the factory defaults. My wifi is working fine, and all other devices in my house have no issues at all.

Well, I think I have finally come up with a solution. It seems this issue happens when it auto locks. I turned auto lock to "never" in settings, and the issue has not happened since. Seems there may be a bug in this feature???
I now use manual lock, and upon awakening the wifi is now fully working.

  • Exchange password gone after update

After updating to 4.3.2, the exchange password configured on the ipad was removed and set to empty.
We've noticed this on 4 devices already.
Our others have most likely not updated yet and I'm fearfull that when they do update, they will face this issue.
Has this happened to anyone else?

    Hello,
Yes, I experienced this when I upgraded my iPad and iPhone both to 4.3.2.  When they restarted and I started Mail, I was prompted for my Exchange password.  We use a single sign on via Active Directory so when users were prompted it wasn't much of an issue as they use their network password to log into mail again.  Once they did this it remember the password as normal.

  • I changed my exchange password and my ipad2 will not accept it.

I changed my exchange password and my ipad2 will not accept it. The iphone 4 did accept the new passwork

some exchange policies require a non proxy or known and secured connection to the exchange server to propagate policy/pw sync. your iphone may have been registered to the exchange server via phone number. connect your ipad to the network at work and sync, or if you have cdma/umts sync over that protocol after you have registered that device with exchange.
you should be able to manually add your device to your profile via outlook webmail under options and mobile devices.
