Ipad losing Wifi Signal

Hi
My ipad is repeated losing it's Wifi signal.  It is doing this at various locations, so I don't think it is a router issue.
I've tried Reset Network Settings and the problem persists.
Any suggestions?

Hi there,
I would recommend taking a look at troubleshooting found in the article below.

  • I am losing wifi signal at my ipad 2 almost all the time

although i have strong wifi signal around my place my ipad 2 is loosing the signal all the time. i didn't face that kind of problem with my ipad 1.
    please advise accordingly.

The top metal peice and the bottom metal peice are the dynamic diversity cellular antennas.
The WIFI antenna are internal, they transmit through the two rear glass panels.

  • IPad 2 WIFI signal going in and out.

I have the iPad2 16 gig white  (wifi only) and never had a problem with it.  One day I am using it and it starts dropping signal.  I am in another room from my router and I will have 2 out of 3 bars.  Then suddenly it drops to the dot, losing signal.  It will suddenly pop back to 2-3 bars only to lose it again.  While this is happening my laptop (macbook) and phone (iPhone4) are fine with full signal strength.
I have reset my router, restarted my iPad, reset/wiped my iPad clean, updated my iPad, turned the brightness up/down, turned off blue tooth, reset netowrk settings. I have changed my DNS to several different #'s.  This isn't just on my network, it is others as well. Nothing is working.
I will say when I am within 10 feet of the router it does not lose signal and is fine.  Only when I am in other rooms does it start acting funny.  My other divices are fine where my iPad is losing the signal. But before the issue the ipad was fine.  This is very frustrating.
My APPLE warranty is voided because I had the screen replaced.
    Any other suggestions?

    Additional things to try.
Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
On your iPad go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings and see if that enables you to connect.

  • Ipads losing wifi

Lately my 3 iPads are losing wifi connectivity.
    I have 2 iPad 2 and 1 iPad mini.
Randomly, they all lose connectivity to the internet. Turning wifi on and off on the iPad usually fixes this issue.
My iPhone and MacBook however don't show that behvior.
    Any ideas?
I am running a 5th generation Airport Extreme with firmware 7.6.3.
    Thanks.

I did what you suggested. Turned off the whole network, and then tuned it back on, one device at a time.
While at first this seemed to have solved the issue, it did and does re-occur.
When I open my iPad from sleep and continue watching a streaming movie in Safari, after a few minutes the movie pauses by itself. Switching to Chrome to see if I can still browse the web then tells me I lost all wifi connectivity.
Turning off and back on wifi in the settings panel fixes this. I can then resume the movie.
It does seem to be connected to the iPad and not the AirPort Extreme, as I can still connect from my iPhone to the Internet, when my iPad lost connectivity.
What is strange though, is that this only started to happen recently, probably shortly after I purchased the iPad mini. But then, the other two iPads in the house (version 2), also started to show this behavior.
The only other change I remember was the upgrade of the AirPort Extreme to v. 7.6.3. My MacBookPro never loses connection, btw. The Airport's settings are the way Apple recommends them, leaving the channels on auto, using both bands for the same SSID (5.8 and 2.4ghz).
This is now starting to annoy me.
    Anyone has more ideas?
    Thanks!

  • IPad lost WiFi signal everytime i wakes up

    HI all,
I just got my iPad Wifi for 2 days, everything works like in heaven except the WiFi problem...
And I am not sure if this is related to the weak signal problem that everyone is having in another thread, the problem that I am having is more related to losing a presistent WiFi connection everytime iPad wakes up from the sleep.
It does not happen with my iPod/iPhone at all. But it is frustrating and idiotic to have to go into setting and press the wifi AP name before I can use the iPad.
    Any advice?

When a thread has over 100,000 views I would say that there is a problem. And that is not even the issue I am having! Over the past couple of weeks, I have logged in and seen many MANY threads about the the WiFi and not connecting, some with view counts approaching that same number.
The number of times a thread has been viewed has nothing to say about the frequency of a problem or even the reality of a problem. Threads are viewed by those who are simply curious or by those who think that they might be able to help. WiFi can be a tricky area, if you gave the specific details of exactly what problem you are having and exactly what equipment you are using, then someone might be able to offer a useful suggestion.
Apple has a STICKY at the top of this group about this issue -- unfortunately their suggestions do not work, for me and many others.
The sticky at the top of this forum isn't from Apple but it does point to some Apple trouble shooting guides. These mainly talk about generic problems with WiFi that could occur with any device.
I didn't take it back before because this is the first time in many years that an Apple product seems to have a serious flaw. I figured they would put out a software patch to 'fix' it. I had faith in them, in other words. Since they haven't put out a patch or even said one is coming, I now think maybe it is a hardware thing, and if that is the case then I would think it would be in the news.
You don't seem to consider the chance that there could simply be a H/W problem with just your iPad (it happens). The approach you should follow now would be to ask for a replacement. If that new replacement iPad also doesn't work do NOT immediately jump to the conclusion that all iPads are defective but, rather, conclude that maybe there is something wrong in your environment that is causing the problem. It's nice to have confidence in Apple but, if something doesn't work, take action to get it corrected.

  • IPad loosing wifi signals

Im experiencing some problems with my ipad2 lately
I noticed that after I upgraded it to ios 5, It keeps loosing signals in my house. So each 10 or 15 minutes, it ask me if It turn into a 3G connection and asks me to join my wifi network.
    Any one having this problem

This forum is intended for questions about old, pre-PowerMac G3 hardware, and doesn't get much traffic. Hence it's not the forum where you'll be most likely to get help with your problem. I'd suggest you ask this question in the iPad forum; you'll be more likely to get assistance there. The iPad forum can be found here:

  • IOS 7.1 and iPad mini wifi signal frequent interruptions

I have an iPad mini first génération and iOS 7.1 ... And The signal Is frequently interrupted ... I cannot play online or use correctly sites That require a continuous connection.
Any idea what have to be done to gain serenity ?!

    Hey kassburn,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with Wi-Fi connectivity on your iPad mini. The following resource may help to resolve your issue:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
    1. Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
    2. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your W-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
    3. Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
    4. Restart your iOS device.
    5. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    6. Tap  and Forget this Network.
    7. Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
    8. Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
    9. Update your device to the latest version of software.
    10. Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
Wi-Fi disconnects or signal strength is less than expected
    1. Move closer to the Wi-Fi router (access point).
    2. Check for sources of potential interference.
    3. Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if signal strength improves.
    4. Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including
              - previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
              - recently used Bluetooth accessories
              - VPN and APN settings
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • IPad losing wifi connection

Just adding my 2 cents here. My iPad Retina AND my wife's iPad mini lose connection to wifi constantly. I've researched and implemented all fixes but to no avail. This didn't start happening UNTIL WE UPGRADED TO 6.1.
One more post on this hopefully will get Apple to send us a fix. We still love ya guys...please send us a status report. We're getting killed out here. :(

If two different models have the same issue, then I would suspect the router. Router developers see to it that their products work well with Windows devices, but not so much with Apple products.

  • Losing wifi signal every minute

After the Yosemite update I lose my wifi every minute, this is very frustrating..

Make sure that your modem is working properly. In addition make sure that you are within a suitable range of the access point. This may also be a hardware or software problem. Considering you have described it to be a software problem, you should contact apple and get further support there.
    Good luck.

  • Very weak wifi signal after updating to iOS 7.0.5

I am in Malaysia, and received notification to update software to iOS 7.0.5 a couple of days ago. Since the update, i keep losing wifi signal in the house, which did.not happen before the update. Even when connected to the wifi, the signal bar shows 2 while my other iPhone 4S and iPads are showing full signal strength.
Please advise how I can rollback to the previous version, as i have just realised this new update was meant for China.
    Please help! Thank you.

My problem exactly! With Iphone 4! The updated phone will not connect, the other Iphone 4 not running this latest update works fine! Come on Apple!! Need a fix yesterday!

  • Wifi signal strength on 2012 Macbook Pro

Well after extensive diagnostic testing with other computers, ipad 2 and 3 generation ipad the Wifi signal strength needs some tweaking on the 2012 13 in macbook pro.  The signal and download speed is 1/2 the speed of other devices I own the same distance from my home router.  I get 10MB/s typically and my ipad gets close to that using Speedtest.net. When the same distance away from the router on the new 2012 macbook pro I get 3MB/s-4mb/s.  Way off from what I should get.  I have tried several times at different locations.  An older MBP gets similar strength and readings close to 10MB/s.
Is there a tweak or does Apple need to tweak somehow?

    BB623 wrote:
yes it got better closer to the router.  It's signal strength.  Bring back?
I would and keep bringing back until I got one that worked like the other WiFi devices you have.

    thanks

Could be a router problem or settings problem.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button
