IPad MacBook Wifi Conflict

I have read many other posts and lots of articles relating to the iPad WiFi issues; I have tried about every fix to no avail. Here's the problem - whenever my MacBook and iPad are using WiFi and are on the network using WiFi at the same time, neither works. If you turn one off, then other works. Both devices have different internal IP addresses issued by DHCP. I have an Airport Extreme and have named the two networks different names, etc. I have tried the fixes suggested by Princeton and they don't work. Also, I've noticed that the if the MacBook is not network, the iPad works fine for a time but then really slows down. I'm using the 5GHz network. By the way, neither device can even connect to the 2GHz network.
Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this? This is nuts.
Thanks, Fordvw

Did you ever resolve this? Am experiencing the same problem.
Thanks,
JLS

  • HT4437 I bought a brand new iPad 3 and an Apple TV, both connected to the same wpa protected wifi network from home. It worked for a day, but when I woke up, the Apple TV couldn't be found anymore by neither iPad, MacBook or iPhone. Any clue? Thanks!

Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. It's taken me this long to even reach out for the simple fact I HATE being a complainer but this is just horrible.
Do you have an iPad 3 as well? And is yours not experiencing any issues close to mine?
    Thanks again!

"I have a 5th generation airpot extreme. All of my wifi devices (iPhone, iPad, macbook) worked fine until the other day when everything but my laptop stopped receiving a wifi signal. I shut down my Mac, unplugged the modem, router, let sit for 10 seconds, started it up and 'presto' everything worked.  Then yesterday all but the macbook stopped receiving wifi again.  I tried the same scenario as the other day but nothing.  I reset the airport extreme to factory settings and still nothing.  Is the airport extreme not working?

If it was not working the Mac would not get a signal. Restart the IOS devices and reconnect to the network

  • IPad 2 WiFi Range Issues (but not issues with connectivity when in range)

Okay. I hate to start a new thread when there are bunches of threads on the iPad 2 having WiFi problems (particularly with 5Ghz networks and also related to 4.3). Nonetheless, I'm not seeing anyone talking about range in these forums.
Issue: iPad 2 WiFi range is not as far as iPad 1 (with no cover on either).
Alternative Explanation: iPad 2 has difficulty connecting to Airport Express or Time Capsule extended networks.
Devices: iPad 2 3g, iPad 1 3g (iOS 4.3), iPhone 3gs (iOS 4.3), iPhone (iOS 3.2x), iMac, MacBook Pros, etc.
Network Router: Simultaneous Dual-Band Airport Extreme (latest version) set up with 2.4, 5 ghz and Guest Networks (each with their own name).
Network Extender: Airport Express (latest version) extending the 2.4 ghz network
Network Extender 2: Time Capsule (original, single band) extending the 2.4 ghz network
Longer Description: iPad 2 connected without an issue to the 5 ghz network and the 2.4 ghz network when it was in the same room as the Aiport Extreme. Didn't have any issues maintaining that connection.
However, the iPad 2 doesn't work in any of the farther rooms and can't see the network. iPad 1 and iPhones have no issues (and typically show 1 or two bars). I believe they typically are connecting through the Airport Express (but it could be the Time Capsule).
Given that the iPad 2 isn't even seeing the networks, I'm guessing it's a range issue, but hoping it's not.
Anyone else seeing this? Any fixes?

While it is possible that an Apple moderator (Apple host) could pass some information to an Apple development/support group, in practice this doesn't really seem to happen (at least often). I believe that the moderators are kept quite busy just administering the forums and keeping them under control (no spam, ads, abuse, etc.). I've never seen a post by an Apple host here or seen a technical correction to a post (and there is certainly a lot of incorrect information posted here).
Unfortunately, a lot of new posters here seem to think that they are talking directly to Apple and post bug reports, feature suggestions, complaints, etc. These would be much better submitted via the Apple feedback vehicle at http://www.apple.com/feedback. These are not anonymous, are directed to the appropriate product and provide an email contact for Apple to get back to the submittor if more detail is required.

  • Ipad mini wifi cellular purchased in Germany Help !

Can I use a ipad mini wifi cellular purchased in Germany when I go to UK if I buy a micro nano sim in UK ?

No iPads ( or iPhones for that matter ) come with a sim
in or out of the box
You have to buy a sim either on a PAYG or contract
Your iPad will  not be locked to a carrier
and you can switch the sim as often as you like
I always turn off my idevices before changing the sim
    this eliminates any potential conflicts
    this might also help

  • IPad  and wifi printing

Why can't we print from the iPad via wifi like with all the other macs on my wifi network ?  Do we really have to buy a new printer to get this feature.
I currently have an older HP all in one hooked USB to an airport express. My iMac and Macbook Pro work perfectly.
Is that just the way it is or have I missed something. Thanks for any help.
    JJP

Thank you for your helpful suggestions. I am happy to see that gerrard295 is up and running.
As to my problem I tried to follow your good advice. First I disconnected my printer's USB connection to the Airport Express and re-connected via ethrenet. When I then tried to print from my MacBook I got a message that the printer was not connected. After restarting the printer and trying again---no good. So then I decided to go with the printer's wireless connection.  Worked through the printer menu, Wireless Setup Wizard, found my wifi network but then got stopped when asked to enter SSID. I went through the HP guide and the Airport booklet but don't know how to find the "equivalent WEP ket to access the network". The HP manual notes that if I am on an Apple AirPort using a password for access (which is where I am) instead of WEP HEX or WEP ASCII I need to find this "WEP key".
I may have missed something along the way but so far, no good.  Any addiditional information would be appreciated.

  • System requirements for iPad 16gig WiFi

I want to buy iPad 16gig WiFi only. I use a MacBook Pro with OS 10.4.11 and have an iPod Touch which works fine. Do I have to upgrade to OS 10.5.6 or can I use what I've got? Trying to not keep spending money. Thanx.

What generation your Touch is has nothing to do with whether an iPad will work with your set up. It won't. I have no idea whynthe second poster mentioned it at all. See the specs in the earlier post.

  • Mac will not sync with ipad over wifi

I have iTunes set to sync with the ipad over wifi; wifi is turned on on both mac and ipad; both are logged in but i can only sync using a cable plugged into the mac. Any ideas why.
    Thanks for the help

Your MacBook must be quite old.  My suggestion is to sell it and replace it with a newer model that can support later software.  You have probably received many years of good service from the old machine.
    Good luck.

  • IOS 7.0.3 has crippled my iPad's wifi

Ever since upgrading to 7.0.3, my 3rd gen iPad's wifi, which worked flawlessly before, has now been totally crippled.  Everytime I pick up the deivce, it is not connected to the WiFi and I have to go into settings to re-connect.  This is in my own home, with my own WiFi that the iPad knows about very well.  EVERY time I turn it on, I have to re-connect to my WiFi, and that is not an exageration.
In addition, half the time when I reconnect, the Internet doesn't work and I have to turn off WiFi and turn it back on again to get it working.
My iPhone 5 and my Macbook Pro have no problems with the WiFi.  My iPad USED to work fine before the update to 7.0.3.  My WiFi is an Apple Airport.

    Try reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.

  • Help needed asap! Will my IPAD 3G wifi work in another country with the sim of a 3G services provider?

Help needed asap! I want to buy an IPAD 3G + Wifi before I return to my country from the US. The problem is that I have GSM service providers in my country that provide 3G services but I am wondering if their SIM card would work in the IPAD? In other words, can I get an unlocked IPAD 3G wifi? Thanks for helping out

The AT&T 3G iPads (which are GSM/sim based) in the US are not locked (the Verizon models are CDMA based so they effectively are). So as long as you can get a sim in your own country you shouldn't have a problem

  • I am planning to buy an iPad 2 WiFi   3 G from USA , will it work in Egypt?

    HI ,
I am planning to buy a new iPad 2 WiFi + 3 G from USA ,,,, and i will use it in Egypt.. will it be unlocked for AT&T in Egypt ?
    thanks  ,

Make sure you buy the WiFi+3G AT&T (3G) model.
You won't be able to order it online unless you have a US credit card tied to a US address and a US shipping address, so I am assuming you are coming here to purchase it. If so, call ahead before you go buy it to make sure they have one in stock.

  • TS3694 hi i recently updated into ios 7.0.4 now i want to fully restore my ipad to resell but when i restore it it got stuck with apple logo and progress bar with 45% completed as firware file is downloaded using ipad 4 wifi itunes 11.3.8

hi i rescently updated my ipad 4 in ios 7.0.4 and for resell purpose i want to restore my ipad via itunes but it got stuck at apple logo and progress bar of 45% completed i tried it 50 times but it stuck on that exact point for hours i cant able to restore it and had no errors it just like freezes at one point i also uses dfu mode but got stuck at same problem using windows 7 32 bits itunes 11.3.8 ipad 4 wifi please help

My iPhone 5 wouldn't start after I turned it off a few minutes after writing this. It went into recovery mode and I had no choice but to connect to iTunes on PC and restore.
I restored to factory setting first, just to validate my phone was okay. For a second consecutive iOS update, the  iPhone 5 did not update smoothly while connected to PC and iTunes - I had to retry two times before the progress bar for the update showed. (The exact same problem with the restart occured when I updated to 7.0.4.)
The good news is that I was ultimately able to restore the iPhone 5 to factory settings while running iOS 7.0.6. I did have a backup from about a month ago lying around and was able to successfully restore with that as well, so the damage done is almost negligible since I had my contacts, notes, mail, etc. backed up to iCloud.
Once I completed both restores, the sync with iTunes worked fine.

Add another e-mail account to your messages, so people could reach you on that e-mail from messages. As soon as you are online (if you have wifi only iPad) you are able to send and receive messages. i.e. your son can send you a messages from his iPhone addressing it to your (that additional) e-mail address.
